We Are Living In A Matrix

laitman_929In the News (Business Insider): “In a note to clients out Tuesday, Bank of America Merrill Lynch said there’s a 20%-50% chance that we’re living in the matrix — meaning that the world we experience as ‘real’ is actually just a simulation. …

“‘Many scientists, philosophers, and business leaders believe that there is a 20-50% probability that humans are already living in a computer-simulated virtual world.’”

My Comment: “We’re living”—and in the past, we weren’t living? Mankind is naïve; it constantly thinks that it has discovered something new! They finally got it. The existence of the so-called matrix suggests we are subordinate to the one law of nature. We are tightly chained to it. Each of our cells, every thought, every desire, all are within nature.

Likewise, a particular thought is sent to a person even before he thinks it. Every desire takes shape within him even before he wants something. Before he makes any move, energy, amino acids, electricity, and everything else is gathered within the body, giving him a direction. A person doesn’t do anything on his own! At best, he feels that he is moving, but actually he is being moved.

The task of Kabbalists is to discover who is moving the person, who is the master of the matrix. And why should it be otherwise? The still, vegetative, animate, and speaking levels of nature develop us: all of our cells, everything around us. How could it be that we are suddenly on our own? What are you talking about? Has the guidance disappeared? Has the force of evolution disappeared? Has the program of development stopped all of a sudden?

This is our illusion. We have become separated from what is happening with us.

Question: Why do we naturally feel that we are independent?

Answer: This illusion was given to us intentionally so that we would discover that we actually exist within the law, and we need to know this law. When we discover the main law of the matrix, then we will become more enlightened people, and then we must move onward.

This knowledge should compel us to understand the behavior of the matrix, what our relationship with it is, and why we were created such that, on the one hand, we would be within it, and on the other hand, we wouldn’t feel ourselves within it.

In principle, the person is like a schizophrenic patient. He has an absolutely split personality. In other words, on the one hand, he is managed, and on the other hand, he thinks that he is the manager. This duality begins to concern him. The world is becoming such that it seems that a person has lost his hold on the reins he previously thought he was holding.

This situation leads him to suffer so that he will search, and from his spiritual search, he finally will decide that he must understand the general law of creation. It is possible for him to understand it only if he begins to discover it on his own. To the degree that he becomes similar to the law of nature, he will discover it and get to know it. But in no way will he be able to do this from the outside as we would like to do.

Question: So, how then will his life change?

Answer: It is according to how much he complies with this law. He will live according to the laws of the matrix: total bestowal, total dependence, and all of us connected through mutual Arvut (responsibility). In fact, this is an immense joy because you acquire knowledge, understanding, and integration within an immense, infinite system that is simultaneously so close.

Question: Will a person lose his individuality with this?

Answer: Absolutely not. On the contrary, he will begin to acquire an individuality that he didn’t have before! So, first we need to be given a good shake to show us that we are not within this system at all. Then, it will be possible for us to gradually enter it.

The Merit Of Religions

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Primitive tribes that have survived until our day live much more peacefully and in greater mutual altruism than people who belong to any representatives of any religion. Why is religion considered such a good thing? After all, we could all live a quiet peaceful life without it, grazing our goats and living on the fruit of the earth.

Answer: If we lived that way we would remain on the animate level, living in a cave or a hut, hunting mammoths, fishing, and everything would be fine. But the process of evolution is not up to us.

We develop thanks to the egoism that grows in us, thanks to our evil nature. But the additions given to us by religions have tamed our egoism to a certain degree and shaped it in a certain way. And for this we have to acknowledge the merit of religions.

Although they stemmed from human egoism, each religion and its own form, among its own people, in its own sector, was fruitful. Medicine, culture, dancing, and even science stem from religious development.

Science developed from religion in order to prove the basics of the religious beliefs and to explain different situations in our life. Then conflicts and contradictions seemingly emerged between science and the different religions, which continue to this very day because religions were fossilized. We should respect the religions for being the root of human development.

Can I Manage The World?

laitman_283_01Question: Can I manage the world? If so, how can I do it?

Answer: This is what the wisdom of Kabbalah is for. It tells us about it in absolute truthfulness in all the sources.

If you learn how you can influence the world, you will be able to do it. What is more, anyone can do it according to the way he perceives the wisdom of Kabbalah.

It should be stressed that you will be able to influence the world only in a positive way, since at the moment you are influencing it in a negative way. If we don’t intervene in the management of the world, we affect it negatively, but if we have the ability to intervene, it will only be in a positive way.

A Formula Of Desires

laitman_214Question: I have read the post “Physicists Investigate The Structure Of Time, With Implications For Quantum Mechanics …” on your blog. Do the actual parts of the desire have a form in the minimal time of 10-43 seconds?

Can we come up with a formula of these desires and their power in mass? Is this measure also constant like the Light or is it a kind of a reflection of the Light in the form of certain desires, which we see as a picture that the brain depicts for us?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah gives us a feeling that is real until the adaptation of our inertial body enables us to view actions on the upper level where the connection between opposites takes place and the immediate transitions from one place to another and the transformation of the Light to matter and back.

What Came First, The Torah Or The Wisdom Of Kabbalah?

laitman_527_04Question: What came first, the Torah or the wisdom of Kabbalah? Why do we study the wisdom of Kabbalah without studying the Torah, Moses’ Torah?

Answer: History tells us that gases were created after the Big Bang and the particles of matter that began to spread came together, and this is how our planet was created. Then the oceans were formed, then came the vegetative and the animate world, and finally man.

Man began to develop significantly about 3,500 years ago. The bulk of the developed people were in ancient Babylon, which became the basis of modern civilization.

From 20 generations to ancient Babylon, 5,777 years ago, a man called Adam appeared. He discovered the leadership system of our world, which he described in the book The Angel Raziel (The Secret Force). According to Rambam, the great Kabbalist of the 12th century, Adam and his students wrote books, but none of them have reached us except for the book The Angel Raziel. Twenty generations after the first generation of Kabbalists, Abraham appeared.

Abraham was a priest in ancient Babylon, and according to Midrash Rabba, he used to go out at nights, look at the stars, and wonder where the force that moves the whole universe comes from. Why do people live, for what purpose, how, who manages them, who is spinning this whole mechanism of the galaxy?

Gradually he began to explore the system of creation in great depth. Of course, there were many other people who looked at the stars, but only he was lucky enough to discover it since this is a special attribute of the soul.

Abraham discovered the system of creation and described it in his book The Book of Yetzira (creation). It is a small book of several dozen pages, which summarize the main points of the system of creation and how the world is managed. This book, just like Adam’s book, can be bought in bookstores today. The other writings of Abraham have not reached our days.

Everything Adam and Abraham wrote is the pure wisdom of Kabbalah. After Abraham, his students Isaac and Jacob, called the children of Abraham, continued his study, which actually represented a development of the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Only after the exodus from Egypt when the need for a more sophisticated method of uniting the nation and attaining the Creator arose was it revealed to Moses in the same way that we study it today. This method is called the Torah.

Adam wrote his book almost 6,000 years ago; Abraham wrote about 3,500 years ago, and the Torah was written about 3,300 years ago.

Question: Does this mean that the Torah is secondary to the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: The Torah is also the wisdom of Kabbalah.

We study the basics of the wisdom of Kabbalah in order to study the Torah, The Five Books of Moses, since it continues the wisdom of Kabbalah on the next level.

To a person who doesn’t study the wisdom of Kabbalah, the Torah seems like a collection of stories about the ancient Jews who wandered in the desert and about what happened to them. In order to understand what this book really says and what is encoded in it, we must know the wisdom of Kabbalah.

How Can We Overcome The Crisis Of Confidence?

laitman_629_3Question: What actions of unity can help us overcome the crisis of confidence?

Answer: Today the crisis of confidence grips everyone in the world feels a crisis of confidence: there is no trust in the family, between parents and children, between citizens and their state, and all the more so between different states and different peoples. We are detached from one another and divided because our egosim is continuously growing.

Our world was created by one attribute only, which is egoism, and we have to add the other attribute, altruism, by ourselves in order to balance the attribute of egoism. We have to insert the attribute of love and bestowal into this world so that it will stand against egoism.

But we don’t do that, and so the process of people drawing further away from each other continues in the family, in society, everywhere. What can we do about it? The only thing we can do is to begin to draw the good force, which is concealed in nature, unto us.

The good force is called the Creator or the Light, and we must draw it. Our future and the future of our children depend on it. Let’s try to do it! The wisdom of Kabbalah tells us how we can implement it.

We need to adapt this wisdom properly, adapt it to our times, and convey it in a clear manner to ourselves and then to others. Then we will succeed and the crisis of confidence will disappear.

This will happen only when, precisely because this crisis, we have to attract the Upper Light that will balance our evil inclination, and we will eventually be able to connect to each other. Moreover, we will feel united in one desire.

The Creator created one desire, and then the ego shattered, severed us in this desire, and divided it into countless pieces. And now, where egoism reigns between us,it is necessary to cover it with good, mutual rapprochement, mutual bestowal, and even love. This is our task.

Then our tiny souls, which are divided by egoism, will be covered with a good mutual connection. This “sandwich”—huge ego inside and great, mighty altruism above it, love and bestowal—will give us great power to attain the Creator. We will penetrate its depth and achieve attainment, expansion, eternity, and perfection.

All of this is meant for us and will be ours. But we must strive for it.

Question: This type of work is basically not done in one hour. Will we have to continuously build small bridges of love over our egoism that is continually growing?

Answer: There is nothing to worry about. Many Kabbalists attained the peak of the end of correction, and we are in a position where we are able to do it—nothing is unattainable.

On The Spiritual Map of the World

laitman_254_03Question: Perhaps for the correct prayer we lack the desires of the lower ones?

Answer: Certainly. I stay in contact with all groups in the world. This is a broad geography covering practically all the territory of South and North America, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, European groups, and groups from Africa.

We have to be in contact with one another because the lack of the outer desire relative to every ten limits it and it does not feel the ability to advance further.

I purposefully try to be in some connection with everyone as much as my time allows me. After all, I don’t have more time than anyone else does, but I try to absorb desires, sufferings, and the doubts of the groups.

I do not attempt to enter someone’s private life. It does not give anything. In spirituality, one can sense only the common state of the group, its common opinion, and its aspirations. This is what becomes inscribed on the spiritual map!

However, if it is not a group, not an assembly of at least a few people, I am not interested in them even if they are some great individuals. I do not become included in them because their desires do not exist in the spiritual world.

How Does The Wisdom Of Kabbalah Influence Life In This World?

laitman_281_02Question: How will studying the wisdom of Kabbalah influence life in this world?

Answer: The moment we begin to study the wisdom of Kabbalah, life in this world begins to change for the better.

It may take a long time until our studying and desire influences the upper governance system and a response from it reaches us. A certain pause is created that can go on for months or even longer.

So, the main thing is not to despair and to understand that we have no other way in the world. Try to do this now, otherwise, you will only regret it in the future.

Years will go by, and you will have to return to this life, to this world. There is nothing good in it. But you will have to be born and suffer again until you reach a state in one of your future incarnations when you will manage to correct yourself.

Who Knows All Of The Wisdom Of Kabbalah?

laitman_214Question: Is there any Kabbalist who can say that he knows the entire wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: There were very many Kabbalists who attained this state.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is knowledge of the system of the management of our world, or as Baal HaSulam writes, the method for revealing the Creator to the creature in our world. Therefore, in any case, every person will be obligated to attain all of the knowledge of the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Moving Away From The Source Of Goodness

Question: The wisdom of Kabbalah is a science about receiving higher pleasure, but you say that the truth is attained through suffering. How can this be true? Are we destined to suffer?

Answer: Nobody is destined to suffer. On the contrary, the wisdom of Kabbalah is a science through which we attain the upper force from which only goodness is derived. But to feel this good, it is first necessary to experience the opposite feeling. We don’t need to immerse ourselves in suffering to do this. Just understanding its origin is enough for us. This is a huge difference.

I suffer from being far from the origin of goodness, and goodness is attained only within it. In the wisdom of Kabbalah, suffering is not felt as it is felt in the physical world, as a lack of fulfillment. Instead, it is a lack of the possibility of bestowing, like a cow suffers when she wants to nurse a calf, when she is bursting with an abndance of milk.
