How Ohr Makif Works

laitman_209Question: What exactly should I want during the lesson so that the Light will operate and influence me? Is it necessary to feel the Creator, to want to feel the desires of the friends, or to want something else? If a person hears a lesson, does the Light operate and influence him in any case, even without the right intention?

Answer: The Ohr Makif (Surrounding Light) operates and has an influence on everyone who listens to a lesson, even more for someone who wants to reveal the Creator, and even more for someone who wants to attain the characteristic of bestowal.

Question: Does the action of the Ohr Makif gradually bring a person to the recognition of evil, and does the recognition of evil bring a person to the right desire for correction, thanks to which the Creator changes the person so that he resembles Him, and then the person begins to feel Him? Is this the sequence of events?

Answer: Yes.

Hear The Words Of The Kabbalists

laitman_214Baal HaSulam says in his article, “The Last Generation” Item 17: “If I lived on an island of savages who cannot be organized according to law but by religion, would I doubt it and leave them to destroy each other?

“From the altruistic perspective everyone is a savage and there is no way that they will accept any solutions unless it is by religion. Who will hesitate to leave them alone until they destroy each other by hydrogen bombs?”

We see that all of mankind behaves like savages, and no one understands the terrible, unavoidable situation the world is advancing to: toward an impending war, a systemic crisis, and climatic disasters. Despite the severity of the situation, people don’t understand that a unique system to exit the general crisis is offered to them here.

Baal HaSulam suggests that we act and not wait “until they destroy each other by hydrogen bombs.”

The wisdom of Kabbalah speaks about two options: people will either listen to what Kabbalists say or a hydrogen war will break out as Baal HaSulam says, and only afterward, as a result of the terrible shocks humanity will undergo, will people be able to perceive the method of general connection into one system in which we should be as integral parts that make up one vessel, a system called Adam, or soul.

“And There You Shall Eat Before The Lord, Your God”

laitman_933Torah, Deuteronomy 12:7: And there you shall eat before the Lord, your God, and you shall rejoice in all your endeavors you and your households, as the Lord, your God, has blessed you.

“You and your households” are the main, secondary, and tertiary forces of our soul. For example, “wife” is the primordial human desire, and “children” represent what a person generates by his actions. All other relatives are everything that he includes in himself as primary, secondary, and tertiary desires, and so on.

The phrase, “you shall eat before the Lord, your God,” refers not to material meals, but to the absorption (perception) of the Upper Light, the Creator, and the sensation of Him. In other words, we are talking about the anti-egoistic screen.

Everything in Kabbalah is explained very simply, and therefore, I, personally, and my students don’t have any association with earthly actions.

Thus, the phrase, “And there you shall eat before the Lord, your God, and you shall rejoice in all your endeavors,” means that we must reach such a state in our desire that we will be able to fulfill it, and this is called “eat and drink” since the Light of Hochma symbolizes food and the Light of Hassadim symbolizes drink.

In other words, the fulfillment that is called holy will enter our desires because it is only for the sake of the Creator, and this is His revelation.

The Temple In Our Hearts

Unity, The Way To A Good FutureTorah, Deuteronomy 12:4 – 12:5: You shall not do so to the Lord, your God. But only to the place which the Lord your God shall choose from all your tribes, to set His Name there; you shall inquire after His dwelling and come there.

This is a temple in the heart of a person.

A temple isn’t some kind of building in Jerusalem or anywhere else in Israel where people rush to kiss its stones and the wall, as it is today.

The only time my great teacher Rabbi Baruch Ashlag and I were in Jerusalem at the Wailing Wall, he went to it no closer than two meters, looked, and calmly, without stopping, turned back.

Not feeling any holiness in these stones, he didn’t even come close to them, and I clearly saw a complete detachment from this place in his behavior. However, a common person is drawn to this, he needs such a toy, as a baby feels comfortable only when he holds a familiar rattle in his hands, so does he.

It is necessary to educate people so that each will feel that he is related to our common temple—the unity of the hearts. The common temple is the soul.

The Torah speaks only about the construction of the temple in our hearts and from our hearts.

The place is a desire. A desire in Kabbalah is called “the place,” because only in the corrected desire that is in the right place is it possible to receive the Upper Light, the revelation of the Creator.

Objects Of Worship

Dr. Michael LaitmanTorah, Deuteronomy 12:2: You shall utterly destroy from all the places where the nations, that you shall possess, worshipped their gods, upon the lofty mountains and upon the hills, and under every lush tree.

Mountains, hills, and trees are what people worshipped. Either they worshipped something in these places: in the lowlands or valleys, in the mountains or on the hills, etc.

A person can pray to anything. In the repertory (Homeopathic reference), where all sorts of human motives and methods of their treatment are described, very interesting impulses of a person are mentioned, for example, a prayer to the tail of the horse and other similar things.

A person is subject to all sorts of internal fluctuations; there are various doubts, forces, and twilight states in him.

People worshipped trees a lot. However, if we speak about the internal work of a person, then the tree of knowledge of good and evil is the personification of the fact that out of something grows something. That is, knowledge is the fruit of the tree.

The Influence Of Kabbalah In The East

laitman_627_1Question: What influence has the wisdom of Kabbalah had on Middle Eastern and Far Eastern nations?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah had a direct influence through Judaism even on Christianity and especially on Islam because until lately Islam developed under the influence of the inner forces of the wisdom of Kabbalah, Sufism.

Sufism is the Islamic wisdom of Kabbalah. It also talks about how we need to unite, to love others, and things like that. I have met with many Sufis in the world, and they would have the same opinion. But now, in the Muslim nations, Sufis are not held in high esteem and they are forced to hide in the West.

The wisdom of Kabbalah laid the foundation for Far Eastern faiths in the same form in which they existed and still partially exist today. But they have gone through big changes since then.

Since there is no precise record of historical or fundamental principles, it is said that Abraham gave his children (he had many concubines, as did all the rich and famous people in those times) his knowledge (the wisdom of Kabbalah) in a form they would be able to understand and grasp. It is said that Abraham transmitted the information to them in the form of “gifts,” meaning spiritual powers, that they would need in the future to lighten their path and specify it. Through these so-called “gifts,” the leaders of the Eastern faiths and religions were spiritually linked with Abraham.

All of the faiths and religions, except for the most primitive, began with Abraham.

laitman_281_02Question: I am 75 years old, isn’t it too late to begin studying the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: Don’t consider age, enter into the method with your entire soul and you will see how quickly you will be able to do this. If a person is brought to the wisdom of Kabbalah and he makes an effort, he will necessarily attain what he must attain in this incarnation.

Question: What book should one start with in studying the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: Take our Bnei Baruch Kabbalah Education Center courses; there you will learn about what book you should begin your studies with.

Question: Is it possible to “play” too much when we play during the study of the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: No, it is impossible to play too much because your ego will bring you lower and lower every time.

Question: How is it possible for me to develop an immense desire within me to study the practical wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: This is only through the environment. This is mentioned in articles by Kabbalists. When you are in a group, you need to become inspired by the desires of the friends. We need to infect each other with a desire for spirituality.

Question: What can be done about the fear of death?

Answer: You are not the one who will die, rather it is your “animal”—the physical body. You are immortal.

Question: Is it possible to discover spirituality without knowing the theory of the wisdom of Kabbalah at all, and then attain the wisdom of Kabbalah through sensations?

Answer: It is possible. We attain the wisdom of Kabbalah through sensations. In other words, we attain the theory specifically through the practice.

Question: Was Rabash writing about a physical group or a spiritual group?

Answer: He was writing about a physical group. He gave me articles that I copied and distributed to all the rest of the students. It all started when I had to convey the first lesson to the students that I had brought to Rabash. I asked him what I should tell them. He sat on a bench in a park, took a sheet of paper from me, and wrote his first article.

Question: What does it mean to study the wisdom of Kabbalah? Is this a living wisdom, a scientific experiment, knowledge, or a sensory attainment?

Answer: It is a sensory attainment.

Question: How does one work with the Sefirot practically?

Answer: When you see that the Sefirot are the connection between you and others through which the Creator is revealed and this is how you bestow to Him, and through the Sefirot, He bestows to you, meaning the connection between friends, then you will know what the Sefirot are and how to work with them.

Belief In Gods Was A Help In The Development Of Civilization

Laitman_633_1In the News (Wired): “Co-operation is a key component in human interaction and also, according to new research from the University of British Columbia, the spread of civilisation. Not because for any altruistic reason, though; instead it might be directly down to a fear of a vengeful god.

“In a study published by Nature, a team from the university found that it wasn’t a belief in divine reward that promoted co-operation, but a fear of punishment. “Co-operation among throngs of strangers in expanding societies required a common faith in moralistic gods,” said Benjamin Purzycki, who conducted the research. Worshippers believed that these gods were able to read thoughts, observe good and bad behaviour and punish and reward them accordingly, the study suggests. Shared beliefs about these gods apparently paved the way for trade networks, economies and institutions such as governments and courts. …

“‘The threat of punishment from a god if that individual did not reach out to help strangers may have been one reason for the close bonds that developed between different communities around the world.’ …

“The team suggest that belief in punishment promoted good behaviour — that is, behaviour that promoted trust, co-operation and fairness. Because religions such as Christianity, Islam and Hinduism spread globally, worshippers in far and disparate lands had similar beliefs about how to act towards others of the same religion. ‘These results build on previous findings and tell us more about how wide-ranging co-operation has evolved in large-scale societies today,’ said Purzycki. ‘In addition to some forms of religious rituals and non-religious norms and institutions such as courts, markets and policy, our findings suggest the threat of punishment from a god if that individual did not reach out to help strangers may have been one reason for the close bonds that developed between different communities around the world.’”

My Comment: That is, religion or beliefs in an omniscient God as punishing and rewarding, obliges a person to behave more honestly due to fear of punishment and desire for reward. If not for our egoism, we would not respond to these demands. In general, if God did not exist, He would have had to be invented.

Kabbalah comes from the desire to understand the meaning of life, as stated in part 2 of The Introduction to The Study of the Ten Sefirot. And that is why Kabbalah is intended only for those who really want to reveal this secret.

Discovering the meaning of life leads a person to reveal the only force of nature—the Creator. But belief in a fictitious God, and knowing Him as Elokim – Nature, as it is written: “And all will know Me.”

“Dead” Money For Mars

laitman_746_01Comment: An immense amount of capital has accumulated that is actually outside the world economy; it exclusively performs the role of accumulation of wealth.  Experts have suggested using this wealth to establish a colony on Mars. They say: “Why invest where we are? Why not implement this someplace else, like on Mars, and make it a huge global project that will require substantial human resources.”

My Comment: That is, they are saying: “We have nowhere to go on Earth, we’ve messed up everything here so it’s better not to continue. Let’s take on Mars. Let’s make a big project of a few trillion dollars, and invest all the dead capital in it.”

For what? It doesn’t matter. We will be in business. The only problem is—why?

I fundamentally disagree with this approach, which shows that people don’t know what humanity should be engaged with. Humanity must engage in self-correction, in self-transcendence.

We are on the level of the animal world. The next level we must ascend to is the level of the Adam (Man) from the word “Domeh” (similar), similar to the general higher integral force. We need to bring humanity to a state of general unity where all of us together will be one single system called Adam, and then we will begin to feel the next level of existence, the next step.

Now we are in the framework of the still, vegetative, and animate levels of nature, and in this sense we are animals. We have only the beginnings of the next level to which we must ascend, the level of Adam. We can reach this level only if we connect between us into one integral system and transform to become like the general nature of the world.

If we do this, we will begin to feel the next level, and then we will see the world in an absolutely different state: eternal, perfect, and not limited by the framework of our bodies. It will gradually disappear from our sensation, and we will feel that we exist only within the connection between us, which is called the soul. This is the state we must reach.

Question: Would you specifically invest all the sums of “dead” capital in this?

Answer: Absolutely everything! I would do everything so that humanity would provide itself with only what is most necessary and all other efforts would be directed to connection between us because that is how we begin to ascend to the next level called Adam.

Then, we would have no need to turn to planets like Mars. It won’t give us anything. We do not find life anywhere in the universe, not even primitive life. Therefore, there is nothing to rush to somewhere billions of light-years away; it would do nothing for humanity.

Qualifying for the next level, above the speed of light will not happen through the construction of physical engines because matter cannot move beyond the speed of light. We can move above it if we acquire the characteristic of bestowal, because it is built on the departure from ourselves; it operates with anti-matter, with the characteristic of bestowal instead of reception.

And then we will truly go not only beyond the solar system and space, but beyond the boundaries of the universe, to the next level of existence. There are completely different conditions, completely other levels there, and that is where we must develop.

By going out to the next level, we become detached from our bodies; it ceases to exist for us. We dwell in the power of bestowal only, in the connection between us—this is the future of humanity. And this is not fiction because such a condition was described thousands of years ago in the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Why do we need some kind of Mars? We can travel beyond time, above the speed of light, instantly at any point in space, adding all kinds of space, and opening up new worlds. Let’s begin this journey!

Are There Secrets That Still Haven’t Been Revealed To Humanity Yet?

Laitman_107Question: The wisdom of Kabbalah is an immense book of secrets. Are there secrets that still haven’t been revealed to humanity that could change the world?

Answer: There are no secrets! A secret is what a person doesn’t want to reveal because his ego repels it by saying: “Don’t go there, this is a secret.”

The wisdom of Kabbalah was never a secret. For 15 generations beginning from century zero to the 15th century it was hidden until humanity developed.

However, there are parts of Kabbalah that were always revealed and there were parts that were hidden because people would misunderstand them. Even today it is possible to open The Book of Zohar and not understand even one word. This is because in order to do that, it is necessary to have attained the state the Kabbalists describe.
