“Physicists Investigate The Structure Of Time, With Implications For Quantum Mechanics …”

Laitman_083In the News (PHYS.org): “Although in theory it may seem possible to divide time up into infinitely tiny intervals, the smallest physically meaningful interval of time is widely considered to be the Planck time, which is approximately 10-43 seconds. This ultimate limit means that it is not possible for two events to be separated by a time smaller than this.

“But now in a new paper, … physicists have demonstrated that the existence of such a minimum time alters the basic equations of quantum mechanics, and as quantum mechanics describes all physical systems at a very small scale, this would change the description of all quantum mechanical systems. …

“The scientists also suggest that the proposed changes to the basic equations of quantum mechanics would modify the very definition of time. …

“On a more philosophical level, the argument that time is discrete suggests that our perception of time as something that is continuously flowing is just an illusion.

“’The physical universe is really like a movie/motion picture, in which a series of still images shown on a screen creates the illusion of moving images,’ Faizal said. ‘Thus, if this view is taken seriously, then our conscious precipitation of physical reality based on continuous motion becomes an illusion produced by a discrete underlying mathematical structure.’”

My Comment: The discreteness of everything is determined by the fact that the basis of nature is the Upper Light, which is divided into an infinite number of parts of desire, but the Light itself is continuous, eternal, and perfect.

It is felt as discrete by the person perceiving it because a person’s desire comprehends all as graduated within the limits of his sensitivity.

We can speak only about how we perceive, not about what phenomena are in themselves as they are outside of our perception.

The Seven Sciences

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: It is said that before starting the study of the wisdom of Kabbalah, a person must learn seven sciences. What are those sciences and is that necessary?

Answer: They used to associate these sciences to areas that today are not considered science, such as dance, music, and art. These were sciences of self-expression of the human personality, everything through which a person expresses his perception of his impressions of the world. Through learning and studying human responses to the influence of the world, we study and investigate the person himself. This is science.

It seems to us that through physics, chemistry, and the rest of the sciences we can study and explore the surrounding world. But we are actually studying and exploring ourselves, our reactions, the “instrument” of our understanding, our perception of the world—the way something unknown to us is reflected in us.

Kabbalists spoke about studying seven sciences that explore a person’s response to something unexplainable that acts on him from the outside.

Why is it specifically seven sciences? This is because in addition to the Rosh (head) of the spiritual Partzuf, which is concealed from us (Keter, Hochma, and Bina), there is the spiritual body (Hesed, Gevura, Tifferet, Netzah, Hod, Yesod, and Malchut), which are found in us. So we study and investigate the reactions of these seven characteristics to something that we don’t understand called, “our world.” It is in this manner that a picture of our world is portrayed to us.

How Do I Develop Kabbalistic Knowledge?

laitman_209The wisdom of Kabbalah is the science of the theoretical and practical. When a person begins to study, he first learns the theory: the number of worlds, Partzufim, Sefirot; how they are differentiated; how they are formed and extended from above to below according to a hierarchy from the Light to the matter in our world, and how from the matter of our world they again ascend to the Light. In principle, this is the wisdom of Kabbalah.

It is presented in summary in the article by Baal HaSulam “Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah,” along with a similar article by Ramchal “138 Gates of Wisdom,” and a further series of texts by other authors who illuminate the wisdom of Kabbalah in detail. It is revealed in a more comprehensive form in the book, “Etz Hayim” by the Ari and in the six volumes of the Study of the Ten Sefirot by Baal HaSulam.

In addition, many other Kabbalists devoted large serious texts to the wisdom of Kabbalah, expounding, from a scientific point of view, the system of management of our world, which it is located in. But all these texts are intended only to describe the spiritual world to ourselves intellectually, even though it is not possible to understand it with the intellect and it is not possible to describe it to ourselves visually.

As it is written in section 154 of The Introduction to the Study of the Ten Sefirot, the Kabbalists always wrote and write only for those who are already in attainment, with the feeling and the vision of the upper world. When a person like this reads what is written by others, he imagines what the author wanted to say completely precisely, clearly, and tangibly.

Thus Kabbalists shared their knowledge with each other, but it is understandable only to them because they are feeling the same upper world, the system that manages our world. And those who don’t have that feeling cannot imagine it. They only mechanically juggle different concepts and definitions. But this doesn’t give anything. The concepts remain incomprehensible.

So it is difficult to say what the point of studying them is. But according to what Baal HaSulam wrote in that section 154 of the Introduction to the Study of the Ten Sefirot, there is great meaning to relate to the writings of the Kabbalists in a special way because people who wrote these texts were in attainment of a higher energy, the Upper Light.

As a general rule, the books of Kabbalah were written in Hebrew or Aramaic. Aramaic is related to the Hebrew language, which was in use 3,500 years ago in ancient Babylon along with Hebrew.

If a person in our world doesn’t understand and know what is written, and doesn’t even know the language the book is written in, it makes no difference. Suppose that a person knows only Chinese. If he would sit next to the Kabbalists and listen to what they are say and studying, then through his immense desire to understand and attain, he would begin to awaken and invite the Upper Light upon himself.

A unique illumination will descend upon him, and under its influence the person will gradually begin to feel what the Kabbalists are talking about within himself, even without understanding their language. And in time, he will even begin to understand the language.

When I was studying with Rabash, I received a letter from a person in Russia in a distant labor camp in Siberia. He wrote that suddenly knowledge of the Hebrew language was opened in him and he wanted to travel to Israel. Attached to his letter were attached poems that were written in Hebrew. When I showed them to experts, they were amazed because he had written in a very high level of Hebrew.

How could he know it? He didn’t know either. It was simply that an immense desire awakened in him the manifestation of this language. Rabash once said that through such a desire a person can attain the entire knowledge of the wisdom of Kabbalah.

This is because it is specifically through desire, not knowledge and understanding, that the Upper Light begins to work within a person.

So those who don’t understand the language must be concerned about only one thing: a small desire to attain the world of the Creator. If it constantly develops, they will achieve everything.

Incidentally, that person from Siberia later immigrated to Israel, published his poems and disappeared. This suggests that as long as he was suffering in the labor camp, he had a desire, but when he immigrated to Israel, and everything was revealed before him, the desire disappeared.

Who Are The Articles By Baal HaSulam For?

laitman_527_04Question: Why did Baal HaSulam write articles that provide a comparative analysis of Kabbalah and philosophy, Kabbalah and psychology, and Kabbalah and science?

Answer: Baal HaSulam lived a hundred years ago when the world had not heard yet about what the wisdom of Kabbalah is. Until that day, Judaism was in a state of stagnation and constantly denied and opposed the wisdom of Kabbalah. He wanted to rouse the sleeping world, especially before the Second World War, before the Holocaust. So in the twenties and thirties of the last century he wrote articles for the people and in 1940 he published the newspaper The Nation.

He planned to produce fifty pamphlets, each one which would include five articles. But he only managed to publish the first journal, which contained the articles, “Matan Torah (The Giving of the Torah),” “The Arvut (Mutual Guarantee),” “Peace in the World,” “The Peace,” and another article. After that, they closed his small publishing house and he said that he would not write any more because the world was not ready yet for this. We can only imagine how much we lost.

Our World Exists Within A “Matrix”

laitman_747_04In the News (Business Insider): “In a note to clients out Tuesday, Bank of America Merrill Lynch said there’s a 20%-50% chance that we’re living in the matrix — meaning that the world we experience as ‘real’ is actually just a simulation. …

“‘Many scientists, philosophers, and business leaders believe that there is a 20-50% probability that humans are already living in a computer-simulated virtual world.’”

My Comment: According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, we exist in a closed system called Adam within which operates a force of full mutual connection between all its parts. The force that connects all the parts of the system is called the Creator. All the parts of the system are totally dependent on each other.

To raise the system from the level of creature (unconscious existence) to the level of the Creator (free and conscious existence), the force called the Creator, which activates and determines all the states of the system, is concealed from us.

As a result of the concealment of the force that fills the system, its parts feel themselves as free and are in relatively chaotic free movement. But this freedom is imaginary. Actually, the force that manages the entire system is concealed only from the parts themselves. The task and the goal of the development of the parts of the system is to attain full freedom of action and to resemble the single controlling force, the Creator. The current state of the system is ready and pushes its parts toward discovering this state. The system itself is arranging a “crisis,” a word that in Greek means birth—the birth of a new state.

How Can We Attain Spirituality Quickly?

laitman_528_02Question: Are there any Kabbalistic sources that can be learned concisely and quickly in order to attain spirituality?

Answer: Although you can teach and study the wisdom of Kabbalah quickly, if you want to attain spirituality it is up to you. Here I cannot guarantee anything because it all depends on your connection with the friends.

If you succeed in persuading yourself that it is essential to be connected to them, you are lucky. If you can convince yourself that you should believe what I teach and present before you, you can be sure that you have gained something.

But you will not attain anything without a teacher and without friends. There is no other way to fulfill the wisdom of Kabbalah correctly except for in the connection with the friends in the center of the group and in the center of the ten. Only then will you begin to feel the attribute of love and bestowal, which will reveal the Creator to you.

Europe At A Crossroads, Part 4

laitman_626Question: What means do you propose for Europe to come to unity?

Answer: This means is not within us, but is hidden inside nature. The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us how to extract this good force and to use it to change ourselves. We don’t need to change anything except ourselves.

I can’t change others. But each one who participates in this work changes himself, and nothing else. He can teach others only how to do the same actions and to change.

Question: What is hidden in nature’s force?

Answer: This is a force of connection and unity, the force of love.

Question: So why couldn’t the Europeans discover this force before; after all, they were also talking about unity and love?

Answer: This force hasn’t been revealed yet in any place in the world because the world only now begins to discover how much it needs it. Until now this force wasn’t needed and everybody thought that we would succeed through developing culture, education, science, and philosophy.

But today we see that everything that exists within a person becomes detrimental to him if he begins to use it. If we want to achieve a good, peaceful life, without wars, problems, and troubles, we should adopt the method of Kabbalah that explains how humanity can continue its development in a good way.

Kabbalah teaches us how to extract this force from nature and reveal this force that will unite us. To do this we need to examine ourselves, our nature, the nature of the world, and the force hidden in nature. Previously, we were developing only by the evil egoistic force, but today we can add the good force to it.

Question: Will this force perform a miracle and turn a person from an egoist to an altruist?

Answer: Actually, this force will lead a person to a balance. There will be the old force and the new force present in him, a minus and a plus. Thus, a person will be under control of two forces. Then he will really know how to realize the goals assigned to him.

Question: Does it mean that there is a hidden force in nature that you are advising us to extract?

Answer: This force isn’t so hidden; it operates in nature. We know that in nature there are positive and negative forces in each atom. Only within a person there is the negative force alone, and the positive force isn’t revealed. However, in fact, we know that it exists. We just need to reveal it.

Question: Why haven’t we revealed it so far?

Answer: Because nobody required it. But today we are ready to reveal this force; therefore, the method that allows us to awaken the positive force of nature and to balance the negative force is revealed. This method of Kabbalah was always lived within the people of Israel.

Question: Does the wisdom of Kabbalah have some unknown patent for revealing the positive force within a person?

Answer: Of course! Kabbalah explains how to connect, how to study, and where and how to search for this good force. It is because the people of Israel who have this method don’t reveal it that the nations of the world subconsciously hate them. After all, we have the method to unite that everybody badly needs, but we don’t pass it through ourselves to others.

The era of European civilization in its present, egoistic form is coming to an end, and a new era is beginning where we will have to implement the method of Kabbalah and to bring the Light to the world. The new stage begins with a person’s awareness of the need to change himself. People will open their eyes and will begin to understand from where it is really possible to get a force for changing their life for the better.

Answers To Your Questions, Part 140

laitman_202_0Question: The world is so complex that the more you try to get to know it, the more difficult it becomes to find answers, and sometimes there aren’t any that the human mind can grasp. It is a wonder how everything was created in such a contradictory manner and nothing exists without its opposite part. Why haven’t all the fields of study in our world and the teachings of the wisdom of great sages and also the eternal wars, diseases, and natural disasters taught mankind to be good? But, on the contrary, a person falls from spirituality? What will the fulfillment of materiality bring our planet to? What do the upper forces want of us? The ancient intelligent civilizations have disappeared. What is the plan? Everything is explained in the sources in a perfect manner, but in practice it all happens in a much worse way. Is there justice in our world or is it all the fruit of a very developed imagination? Does anyone need us? This is a maze of reflections and thoughts—what a heavy burden.

Answer: It is all very simple. The Creator has created everything in a direct manner, but we advance in a crooked way. Now, too, we simply have to unite and thus summon the Light of correction unto ourselves, but we do everything except this…

Question: Does every human being have an individual spiritual gene?

Answer: Absolutely!

Question: If there is suffering in my life, do I have to relate this situation to the Creator (that it is for the best),  and then I won’t feel that the situation is bad? When we approach a problem this way, it seems to disappear, but when you suffer it is very hard to remember that the sufferings come from the Creator. How can I constantly hold on to this intention that “there is none else besides Him,” since it slips away so quickly in times of trouble and instead I feel indifference, anger, rage, etc.?

Answer: Don’t leave the thought that everything comes from Him and do hold on to it all the time! If you can’t, ask Him to help you.

Question:  Do we bring the Creator contentment when we contact Him (when we begin to feel Him)?

Answer: Undoubtedly, and that is the only way.

laitman_628_2Question: Can a person develop spiritually if he hasn’t heard anything about the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: No, true spiritual development involves equivalence of properties with the Creator, and the method for this is called the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Question: How can people who have changed their sex study the wisdom of Kabbalah; will they be corrected in their new sex or not?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah is involved with the egoistic desire of a person and only the Upper Light, the Light that Reforms can influence it.

Beware Of The Poor Because They Will Bring Our Salvation

laitman_527_02Question: It says “beware of the poor because they will bring our salvation.” How are these two things connected?

Answer: The term “poor” means a feeling of worthlessness, emptiness, and a great yearning to attain the upper world. It is actually this state that pushes a person to acquire a filling and feel rich.
