The Path to the Revelation of the Creator

528.03When we read The Book of Zohar, we try to create a common space where we desire to unite all our points in the heart within it; this is what it means to study the Torah. Without such an intention, there is no study of the Torah.

The point in the heart is Israel (Yashar–El), meaning the desire aimed toward the Creator. Through study, we strive to attain the Torah, the light that reforms us. Then, within the connection between us, we reveal the Creator.

Within this connection between us and thus within the revelation of the Creator, there are 125 degrees, or 5 worlds, the 5 lights of NRNHY.

The complete absence of connection from which we begin our efforts to unite is called this world. The final point of unity between us is called the world of infinity.

This is how the entire system of the collective Soul is revealed, called Adam HaRishon, Shechina, or Malchut of infinity. The form of this spiritual vessel (Kli) is called the Creator (Kadosh Baruch Hu), the quality of bestowal and love that we reveal.

Everything exists within this system. The entire wisdom of Kabbalah speaks only of how to reveal the Creator according to the law of equivalence of form, as it is said: “From the love of the created beings to the love of the Creator.” By connecting together, we form a system of connection between us that is similar to the upper force of bestowal.

This image must always be before our eyes as we read The Book of Zohar. I must constantly examine where I am on this ladder of connection between us, what The Zohar is speaking about at this moment, whether I desire to connect with others or resist it, and what hinders me.

I must constantly think only of this: how I (Israel) am connected to others by the force that unites us (Torah), and how within our correct connection, the original quality of bestowal (the Creator) is revealed.

Who Manifests the Answers Within Us?

528.04Question: How does the connection of disturbances occur?

Answer: Disturbances are carried out under the influence of the Creator. He deliberately evokes them within us because they compel us to connect with one another and to clarify why we have such qualities, where they come from, what the purpose of creation is, and how we can draw our friends into the ten.

This is the Creator’s work and our response to these questions. He manifests them within us.

A Prayer at the Grave of a Righteous Person

935Question: Could you explain how the place where we raise a prayer is connected to the strength of that prayer? Yesterday, a part of our group went to Radun, and we prayed at the grave of a righteous person. Everyone felt the power of that prayer.

Answer: That is exactly how it should be. First of all, it is a special place. And second, it is because you genuinely wanted it. At that moment, you felt that your desires were aligning. They did not contradict each other, but rather complemented one another.

If you continue to act this way with regard to all your desires, then you will form such a unified desire that it will surely have an impact on the Creator.

Until All Desires Turn into One

938.03Those people agreed to unite into a single group that engages in love of friends is that each of them feels that they have one desire that can unite all their views, so as to receive the strength of love of others. There is a famous maxim by our sages, “As their faces differ, their views differ” (RABASH, “Make for Yourself a Rav and Buy Yourself a Friend – 2“).

Question: In the first part of this passage, it is written that at first their faces do not look like each other, and then they work on loving their friend. Does friends’ love of others also differ from person to person?

Answer: Yes, it is different. The fact is, our relations with each other also differ. I treat one person one way, another differently, and another in a new way. All this is in order to be connected with friends and merge together into one common desire.

Question: Does each friend have their own feeling about the common desire, or is it something general?

Answer: At first, this is everyone’s personal desire, and then it gradually connects with other desires, becomes more general, until all desires turn into one.

Our Task Is to Defeat the Evil Inclination

558Question: We constantly speak about the war with the evil inclination, and our task is to win. But at the same time, we clearly understand that without the evil inclination, we cannot build the right line.

Where are the boundaries of the word “defeat” if we cannot advance without the evil inclination?

Answer: We cannot advance without the evil inclination because our advancement lies in gaining more and more strength to rule over it.

That is why we must do everything possible for the sake of that victor: wake up, go to sleep, and constantly lift ourselves up throughout the day.

In addition, there must be mutual support in the group, the certainty that we support one another. This is how we need to move forward until the Creator agrees to give us a good inclination to counter our egoism. And then, through this good inclination, we will begin to see the entire world.

Feel As One Whole

530Question: You said that we need to deepen our preparation until we feel ourselves as one whole so that there is no difference between what I feel and what the world Kli feels. How can we reach this state?

Answer: When you exit your egoistic desire and have only your calculation with the Creator, then you do not feel yourself as separate and alone in something; you feel yourself existing, powerful, and capable of doing something for the entire world Kli.

Through this world Kli, the Creator also feels what you desire for everyone. And it turns out that your attitude toward the entire world Kli and toward the Creator becomes one and the same. Then everything comes to a common connection.

Readiness to Turn to the Group

544How can I come to the group and obligate them to provide me with a feeling of the importance of attaining the goal? After all, I do not feel the need to obligate the group to give me that. So where do I begin?

I must come to the group even without feeling this necessity. This is called “a desire in the absence of a desire,” and that is exactly why everything is concealed. I can come to the group and say: “Friends, I do not want any goal. But I am signing a contract with you; influence me so that I will want it!” Every person has this ability!

For example, I know that diabetes is dangerous. So what? I will eat sweets, pastries now and then, and it will be fine.

I come to the group without yet feeling the importance of the goal. Yes, they talk about it, show me things, give examples, but I do not feel it myself. So I find a group, pay them money, and say: “Increase the awareness of the importance and necessity of the goal, make me feel that it hurts to continue like this, make me want to give it up, because otherwise I am destroying myself.”

A person is capable of turning to the group in this way. If not for this, the entire method would not exist because the whole point of the method is to feel I have already suffered before a blow comes as if I have already received it.

The War Against the Evil Inclination

253Question: What does it mean that I go to war against the evil inclination?

Answer: It means you want to fight all those thoughts and desires that are against unity, against rising toward the Creator; you want to erase them and not to listen to them.

Question: Our work is regular, according to a schedule: the lesson, Zoom meetings, and dissemination. What can we add to this to truly turn it into a war against the evil inclination?

Answer: That depends on your thoughts and on your goals, on whether you will actually do something or not. And if you do, then with what intention and how it will be expressed.

That is why the war against the evil inclination within us is never-ending. The Creator waits until we become convinced of this. Only then can we genuinely ask Him to pull us out, to free us, from the power of the evil inclination over us.

What Transforms Us Into an Army?

767.2That is, Tzava [army] are men of war. These are people who go each day to fight the evil inclination. They are called “army” (Rabash, Article No. 6, “What Is Above Reason in the Work?”).

Question: We usually say that a person fights with his evil inclination, with his egoism—that is, I am fight. But here it is talking about an army, that is, about some kind of unification. What turns me or us into an army?

Answer: It is your connection with your friends. When you unite with each other with the desire to go against your evil inclination, egoism, and in spite of it, mutually strive toward each other, it turns out that the group, the ten, defeats the evil inclination.

Question: Does this mean that we are fighting some kind of collective, unified egoism?

Answer: Yes, united egoism is the egoism of all of you, your group, and those who are connecting to it. But in spite of it, you need to strive toward the goal. And the goal is only in connection, in merging of all of us with each other.

Question: Should we now, in our time, strengthen ourselves and address Him as the Creator of armies? If so, then what is that?

Answer: We must strive for connection between us, when everyone feels it as the most important thing. And the fact is that a person feels himself as a separated unit, detached from others, that is no longer important to him. We must strive for the feeling of each other in connection with others.

What Is Torah?

276.02Question: What is the Torah?

Answer: It is the force that corrects us, connects us, and comes to us in its many manifestations. This force is capable of bringing us the recognition of evil, its correction, connection with the good, and shows us examples of unity; that is, the entire system of our correction is called Torah.

ZA (Zeir Anpin) of the world of Atzilut is called Torah because I try to resemble this image, this system, by assembling all the souls in Malchut of the world of Atzilut in such a way that the connection between them resembles the structure of ZA of the world of Atzilut.

In this case, all the souls included in Malchut of the world of Atzilut unite and enter into adhesion (Zivug) with ZA of the world of Atzilut, with the Creator. This is how we reveal the connection and adhesion between us.

Everything happens, begins, and ends in ZON (ZA and Nukva) of the world of Atzilut. Malchut of the world of Atzilut goes through seven states until it reaches the level of ZA, similarity to it in full. At the end of correction, they become like two great lights.

Therefore, ZA of the world of Atzilut, called Torah or the Creator, serves as an example for us in its structure, power, and influence.

And we must first of all strive to unite with each other, in the darkness, and reveal the need for His help.
When we discover in all our efforts to unite that we are incapable of it, then like little children, we begin to cry and demand correction from Him, an example.

Then the upper one will show us an example and will give us the power to unite. But our request and demand must come only from our efforts to unite with each other. Otherwise, we will not be worthy of an answer. Otherwise, we are not in the connection of Malchut with ZA of the world of Atzilut, we are not in Malchut. Malchut feels only the connection.

And we are all below, in the worlds of BYA (Beriya, Yetzira, Assiya). In Malchut, only our desires to unite with one another in order to reveal the Creator and attain the quality of bestowal.
