Acquire to Save

938.01Question: To save something, you need to acquire it. Where can I get a great desire to run toward general unification, toward you, and receive everything you want to convey? Where can we get true Hisaron (deficiency) to make His desire ours and accept everything He wants to give us for the sake of bestowal?

Answer: From the Creator, the Creator is the source of everything we need; therefore, with any desire, we must turn to Him and ask.

Question: Do we ask for ourselves, our friends, or the entire world Kli?

Answer: As you wish.

Question: Is it necessary to protect the unification achieved in the ten?

Answer: Certainly, if you always think you want to increase unity, you will definitely not lose it.

Question: Is it possible to influence the Hisaron of the ten?

Answer: You can influence each other with your actions and words.

Questions about Spiritual Work—158

528.01Question: Is it right to remember good impressions from previous connections in the ten and use them to reveal new connections in a new ten, or should we start from scratch and not take anything from the past?

Answer: You do not need to start from scratch. Start with the good connection you already have with the upper and wish to strengthen it.

Question: You say, “Open your heart.” Who opens the heart first: the person or the Creator?

Answer: The Creator always opens a person’s heart, but this is already a response to a person’s prayer.

Question: Love should come from above when we feel friends closer than ourselves. How can we hasten this?

Answer: Try to relate this way to the Creator.

Question: What comes first: love for the Creator or love for friends? Do we come to love the Creator through the love of friends or vice versa?

Answer: You can do it both ways. Generally, we come to love for the Creator from the love of friends. We still do not know what love is, and we can mistake almost any good feeling for it.

Preparation Is in the Intention

528.01Question: Can we say that our action of bestowal consists of active connection; for example, during a lesson, preparing for a lesson, studying and working in the ten are the desire, the passive vessel for work in active connection, and the work is the request for correction of the vessel, its fulfillment, and transmitting the light to the entire world?

Answer: Yes, this should be our intention. Therefore, before we open the computer and connect with our friends, we need to think about why we are doing this: to be connected together in one single vessel, to direct it to the Creator, and to reveal the Creator within it.

If we direct ourselves toward connection with friends, toward reading articles, and each time overcome various obstacles with an effort, we naturally receive much greater benefit from this.

The First Point of Contact with the Creator

938.02Question: What is the first point of contact with the Creator in the ten?

Answer: The first point of contact with the Creator occurs when the Keter of the lower connects with the Malchut of the upper.

The Keter of the lower, that is, the Keter of the ten, is the force of your bestowal. It rises and reaches the Malchut of the upper.

Question: Let’s say that we have gathered with the friends and formed the force of bestowal, Keter between us. How can we now connect with the Malchut of the upper?

Answer: With each other you form your common Keter, and all that remains for you is to connect to the Malchut of the upper. To do this, you must connect all your desires for bestowal, i.e., all your Keters, and raise them to what the upper one desires from you.

Question: How can we feel the Creator in our feelings in order to connect our Keters with Him?

Answer: By forming a connection between yourselves, you will be able to feel what the Malchut of the upper one is, rise to it, group together, and grasp it. This is what we need to do.

How Can We Speed Up Spiritual Growth?

942Question: The Creator corrects our souls slowly and in portions. Is it possible to speed up the stages of spiritual growth, and what does it depend on?

Answer: It depends on your connection in the ten. If you turn to the Creator on your own, this is one thing. But if several friends ask together with you, and even better the whole ten, the Creator answers immediately and as directly as possible.

In spirituality, we can only strive for ever greater connection. In this way, we protect ourselves from losing important elements of our path along the way.

Gather All the Broken Pieces

939.02In order to create a relationship between us, which is called the spiritual world, we need support. Therefore, Kabbalists say that since one person alone is insufficient in the entire scope of the universe, 600,000 souls were created, i.e., the main vessel (Kli) in a shattered state.

Subsequently, this main vessel further divided into millions, even billions of particles.

As egoism manifests more and more, the number of these particles increases so that each one, like an individual atom, can correct itself and connect with other particles based on correction, on the basis of the qualities of bestowal.

Initially, these particles were connected to each other by the Creator’s force in the quality of His bestowal. Then this quality of the Creator disappeared, ascended. Now, we must begin to once again attract the upper light into the connections between us so that it reassembles us into the structure called “Adam.”

Thus, as stated in Baal HaSulam’s Letter 4: You lack nothing but to go out to a field that the Lord has blessed, and collect all those flaccid organs that have drooped from your soul, and join them into a single body – into a single desire. This is what we must engage in. This is our only task. We should have nothing else before our eyes.

In this world, I act automatically: I work, take care of my body, my family, and everything else. But why do I do all this while living as if in a dream? It is in order to connect with other souls and reveal the Creator to the extent of our connection. The Creator manifests as the light that connects the separate shattered parts.

If this is so, then it is natural that the Kabbalists, who began to attain these states individually, immediately realized that this must be done together, formed a group in which people mutually help each other and create such combinations of desires and aspirations that helps their connection.

The Value of Each Friend

938.03Question: How do we determine what we need to stay on the spiritual path, what we should discard and what else to develop?

Answer: We must constantly develop and increase the connection between us and the Creator.

To increase the connection in the ten means to need each other more and more. I look at my friends and see that I cannot do something without a particular friend or something else without another one. This one sets an example for me, this one annoys me, but all of this pushes me to work on myself. That is, every person in the ten is necessary; that is what the Creator does.

Question: If I have a negative impression of a friend, is it still very valuable? Is this some kind of important signal from the Creator?

Answer: Sure. Least of all I expect positive feelings from them, on the contrary, negative feelings are more suitable for my work on myself.

Don’t Stray from the Spiritual Path

945Question: How can we constantly check that we have not strayed from the spiritual path?

Answer: It is only in a group when you unite and feel that you are all at a single point, in a single desire, everyone leaves his “I,” unites with others, and comes to merge with the Creator.

What Should We Correct?

530Question: Baal HaSulam writes that we need to increase love for our friends because this is enough to compensate for all your deficiencies. How can we practically implement this advice?

Answer: This is something that friends must decide among themselves. When you start to reveal the faults in your unity, everything will work out accordingly.

Question: But love for friends seems like some kind of ephemeral feeling. How can we increase it among ourselves?

Answer: As it is said: “Love covers all transgressions.” Everyone in the group checks themselves and their attitude toward each friend, and then they see what needs to be corrected. This is your work for today.
