From Intention to Action

219.01Question: It is written that one who comes to purify is aided in thought because one can only overcome in action, not in intention. What actions are we talking about? After all, we always say that the hardest thing is to maintain the right intention.

Answer: Indeed, the hardest thing is to maintain the right intention. A person’s actions involve giving something to someone or helping someone in some way.

But they can only do this when they see some benefit for themselves. If they don’t see any benefit, then accordingly they can’t do anything.

However, in spiritual work, everything is the opposite. A person must perform the act of bestowal in everything, regardless of whether they feel any benefit from it or not.

Question: Does it mean that we choose the act of bestowal and pray to the Creator to give us the right intention?

Answer: Yes, the action doesn’t necessarily have to be directed at bestowal; it can also involve receiving. The main thing is that the intention is for bestowal.
