Don’t Be Afraid Of Your Desires

Laitman_514_04Torah, Deuteronomy 11:25: No man will stand up before you; the Lord your God will cast the fear of you and the dread of you on all the land upon which you tread, as He spoke to you.

A person shouldn’t be afraid of any desire that rises within him and seems to him unattainable and terrifying. All the fears and everything that the uncorrected egoism paints for him are worth nothing. They are required only to ensure that he attracts even greater appearance of the upper Light, which balances the uncorrected desires and rises even higher.

Such immense desires that are very hard to correct appear in a person on purpose. He ascends to the world of Infinity by correcting them.

Question: Does it mean that if he ascends, all the nations make way for him?

Answer: Yes, it happens exactly when he understands correctly how to attract the upper Light.

New Life 628 – The Secret Of The Sukkah

New Life 628 – The Secret Of The Sukkah
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

I remember that there were no Sukkot when I was a child living abroad. When I became interested in the depths of the Torah, in the wisdom of Kabbalah, I discovered the reason for our customs. This is how I discovered the secret of the Sukkah: The Sukkah is a symbol of a new world that we can build for ourselves.

The Sukkah is a new world that we build from the waste materials of the granary and the winery, of materials we can lay our hands on and don’t consider important at all. My world is made of things that are important to my ego, and I don’t feel things that are not important to me at all. If I change my attitude so from now on, everything that is unimportant becomes important; I will live in a new world.

A great part of reality is concealed from me at the moment since I have gotten used to not paying attention to it since I was born. Today what’s important to me is what is good for me, and what is good for others is not important to me. This is the whole idea of the Sukkah.

I would like to be connected with everyone, to reach “love thy friend as thyself,” at least for a week.

The waste materials of the granary and the winery: “granary (Goren)” refers to wheat, to bread, and “winery” refers to wine.

The waste materials of the two are usually unimportant to us. Why is “love thy friend as thyself” important? It is by this attitude that I transform myself and build a new world.

The Way To The Revelation Of The Upper World

laitman_219_01It is not easy to reveal the wisdom of Kabbalah today after 2,000 years of exile.

People come to study the wisdom of Kabbalah because the desire to discover the meaning of life is ignited in them. They look for something, hear something, and even without knowing what the wisdom of Kabbalah is, understand by a sixth sense that it is for them, and so they find us.

They begin to attend the group meetings and to study, each in their own way. Then they begin to participate in the study, in different events, in meals, and the force of the group begins to affect them.

It isn’t the force of an ordinary group, but a spiritual force. It shines on them as if through a magnifying glass and people begin to feel internal changes taking place in them

Even when studying at a university, in different courses, or when we study different psychological or so-called spiritual methods, we feel different changes inside us, in our mind or our feelings, but these are ordinary corporeal feelings.

Here on the other hand, we begin to feel the revival of egoism. A person who is very enthusiastic advances purposefully at first but then he begins to feel a kind of dullness, darkness, and weakness. Where does that come from? Why? For what purpose? Everything is lost; nothing is interesting anymore; he feels powerless… what is going on? Additional egoism has emerged in him, but there is no power in our world that can overcome it.

In order to overcome it, we have to receive the Light, the force from above, from the next state, from an upper state, from the upper world.

If we continue to study in a certain way and pull ourselves forward, we gradually exit this state and reach the next state, and then fall again and once again find ourselves in a lowly, hopeless state. We don’t understand where it’s from and how the egoism emerges, and once again we gradually crawl out of this state.

Thus, we undergo many descents and ascents; this is how the Upper Light operates on us.

A person’s spiritual path is like a cardiogram. We move up and down from plus to minus. These movements can be very frequent or may be rare. Everything depends on the intensity of our participation in the group.

Many don’t hold on and leave. If a person leaves, everything he has gained remains in him as a minus because the egoism was revealed in him so that he could ascend above it and eventually acquire the upper world.

But if a person studies for many years, he reaches a state, which is revealed in him as a great descent. During this descent that is caused by a special upper force on his specific level, he begins to feel that the only thing that can help him is the connection to the source of this force, to the Creator. He begins to demand the Creator. This is his first contact with the upper force.

A person begins to realize that the Creator caused his descent to this terrible state from above so he can actually equalize these two levels inside him and not be in a state of an ascent or a descent but actually connect the two.

Moreover, the lower level has to be like Malchut and the upper level like Keter, and the ten Sefirot between them. Then a spiritual Partzuf is created, or a soul, thanks to the fact that a person equalizes the two poles inside him into one.

In the past, he has undergone descents or ascents, and now he seems to cause a short circuit between them on himself, by focusing on “there is none else besides Him,” both in the positive state and the negative state. Everything he is given in the negative state stems from his positive state, and it is all in order to bring him to connection, to understanding the Creator, because he now can feel and understand his own internality on himself, his absolute state, and his uniqueness in his most negative and positive feelings. If a person attains this state, it can already be called the birth of the soul.

According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, in contrast to other corporeal methods, the problem is that the time a person has to undergo this process until he reaches this state can take even ten years. Kabbalists don’t hide this fact. One shouldn’t be afraid’ it is better to advance decisively in order to make one’s self a human being on the next level of human development in the upper world.

Answers To Your Questions, Part 146

laitman_284_03Question: I’m a Christian Catholic, 55 years old. I’ve been trying to find God since I was 13 years old. We found Christian liturgy, read the Bible, etc. But when I was most interested and focused, my life was going down, including my business, my family life.

Trying to find the God’s name, we found Kabbalah. At first my life began to improve, but then it started to go down again.

I love my Creator and want to do my best to find the truth, but I want to improve my life too. What can I do?

Answer: The decision is yours. Kabbalah speaks only about the correction of the soul.

Question: How does studying Kabbalah in Hebrew differ from studying Kabbalah in English?

Answer: There is no difference. Most important is the work in the heart or desire.

Europe And The Development Of Humanity

laitman_443Question: From the point of view of Kabbalah, what kind of a place does Europe hold in the general development of humanity?

Answer: Europe holds a central place in the development of humanity after Israel. This is because Europe is a “Babylonian” gathering that is today becoming the most significant appearance of the Tower of Babel. The Europeans want to solve the problem exactly the way it was done in the past by Nimrod, the king of Babylon. But Abraham opposed this and said that there was no benefit to it. So Nimrod drove him out and he went with his disciples to the territory of the present land of Israel.

The founders of the European Union wanted to distribute more money to all the Europeans and thought that everything would be okay, but the Europeans are already different and the immigrants who have moved to live in the nations of Europe are also different. They are not interested in material fulfillments but in ideological or even spiritual fulfillments.

The immigrants want Europe to become Muslim, painting itself in green. If we look at the map of Europe, then everything has a color: A red flag here, a yellow one there, a blue one there, and so forth, whereas the immigrants want everything to be inundated and washed with the color green and they will gradually “impose” their desire. In principle, the clash between Islam and Christianity will lead them to unite and go against Israel.

Question: They will unite to compel Israel to do its work?

Answer: This is the internal program that is inherent in the program of creation, which they themselves don’t know. They really will unite to force Israel to do its work.

Secret Of The Middle Line

Laitman_041_01Torah, Deuteronomy 11:12: … a land the Lord, your God, looks after; the eyes of Lord your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.

If a person aspires to the middle line, he has no shortage of the right line or the left line. He always can balance them with each other and join them into the middle line.

“From the beginning of the year to the end of the year” means that a person closes all borders at the beginning and the end. He never has unfinished affairs, and the end of his work is always visible.

In other words, the right line comes to the aid of the left line and balances it into the middle line, and the middle line measures itself correctly in order not to be at full height, but only at two-thirds, called VAK. It is only in this way that a person can advance correctly.

All of the measurements will be before us, and we are never wrong in our calculations. This is the secret of the middle line that we need to master.

Materialistic Egoism And Spiritual Egoism

laitman_571_03Question: Do states of ascent and descent happen equally among men and women or are they different for women?

Answer: The same adjustments and connections exist for men and women.

In our world there is a difference between men and women in materialistic circumstances, but in spirituality there is no difference.

Everything that we see in our world is completely irrelevant in spirituality, not food, sex, family, knowledge, control, or honor, or physical forces or special internal forces.

The materialistic ego is designed only to serve the perishable body, while in the spiritual world this is not so. In the spiritual world we receive an absolutely different egoism, which reveals the Creator to us.
