A Blessing And A Curse

laitman_238_01Torah, Deuteronomy 11:26 – 11:28: Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse. The blessing, that you will heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today; and the curse, if you will not heed the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn away from the way I command you this day, to follow other gods, which you did not know.

If a person turns away from the way that leads to adhesion with the Creator, the only upper force of nature, then, of course, he makes a mistake and goes to “other gods,” meaning turns to other forces of nature.

“To follow other gods, which you did not know,” that is, previously you did not take them into account as something crucial, defining, and fundamental. And if you give them preference now and look at them as managers then, of course, my curse is on you.

What does a curse mean? A person draws fire upon himself by leaving the only true, upper force of control, under which are all the others, its derivative. He introduces himself to the system in which there is no balance and feels its imbalance.

This is the curse. There is no God that sends us something special from above, we just talk about it in such a metaphorical way. Through our actions, we cause a distortion of the common system and thus feel all the consequences on ourselves.

Question: Why is this Torah portion called Rehe (Look)?

Answer: Because we need to attain the spiritual system. After all, vision is the strongest sense of a human, the most powerful source of knowledge and understanding of where and what we are. Therefore, we need to perceive everything through our vision, our highest cognition. Not to believe or simply acknowledge, but to really comprehend the essence of it. Even in court a witness can only be one who saw, not one who only heard.

“Time Might Only Exist in Your Head. And Everyone Else’s”

laitman_928In the News (Wired): “PAST. PRESENT. FUTURE. In physics, they are all the same thing. But to you, me, and everyone else, time moves in one direction: from expectation, through experience, and into memory. This linearity is called the arrow of time, and some physicists believe it only progresses that way because humans, and other beings with similar neurological wiring, exist to observe its passing.

“The question of time’s arrow is an old one. And to be clear, it’s not whether time exists, but what direction it moves. Many physicists believe it emerges when enough tiny particles—individually governed by the weird rules of quantum mechanics— interact, and start displaying behavior that can be explained using classical physics. But two scientists argue, in a paper published today in Annalen der physik—the same journal that published Einstein’s seminal articles on special and general relativity—that gravity isn’t strong enough to force every object in the universe to follow the same past»present»future direction. Instead, time’s arrow emerges from observers. …

“Time moves as it does because humans are biologically, neurologically, philosophically hardwired to experience it that way. It’s like a macro-scale version of Schrödinger’s cat. A faraway corner of the universe might be moving future to past. But the moment humans point a telescope in that direction, time conforms to the past-future flow. ‘In his papers on relativity, Einstein showed that time was relative to the observer,’ says Lanza. ‘Our paper takes this one step further, arguing that the observer actually creates it.’”

My Comment: Time doesn’t exist, just as space and movement don’t. All of them appear only in our minds. So how is it possible to determine what is outside of our consciousness? We must rise above our consciousness with the help of the influence of the Ohr Makif (Surrounding Light—the Light that shines outside of us as long as we are not in a corrected state).

From Misery To Happiness

laitman_934Question: Does the feeling of happiness come only after feeling misery?

Answer: Unfortunately, this is so. A feeling of happiness can be built only on a prior feeling of misery. That is also what is said in the Torah: “And it was evening and it was morning, one day” (Genesis 1:5). Everything begins from evening and from night because without feeling bad, you don’t understand what good is. We were created, and so we can attain something only through the contrast between light and darkness and other mutually opposite states.

Therefore, only a wise person, already wise in life experience, understands it is necessary to go through states opposite to happiness, so that the misery will help us feel happiness. It happens this way only in our world. In spirituality it is enough for us to gradually to begin to clarify between us how much we are separated and opposite in our material egoism in order to build spiritual states above it.

What this means is that we don’t need to experience negative spiritual states. It is enough to feel negative physical states—poor communication between us, material hatred, and other ugly relationships between each other—to build the correct spiritual states together.

We are in such a unique state here, seemingly not in our world, and we clarify all the bad qualities in our world through this. Above them, we can build the upper world without entering into its negative states.

The negative states of the upper world are called Klipot (impure forces). We do not have to enter them. We have enough in this world to build above it. So all of our material development in this world is given to us to build the upper world above it.

Question: To feel a higher level of happiness, must we feel total suffering?

Answer: We don’t need to feel negative spiritual states to attain positive spiritual states. We constantly need to rise from this world. All problems are solved and can only be solved on condition that one makes the right connection in a group. If you are feeling bad states, fall into them and cannot do anything with them, the only option is to become integrated into a group. If you don’t become integrated with it, you will suffer anyway. You will fall and your fall and suffering will be uncontrolled.

New Life 775 – Assimilation

New Life 775 – Assimilation
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

In our day the differences between the Jewish people and other peoples have become blurred; everything has become free and open. This is a process that endangers the existence of the people of Israel. With the departure from the fold of religion, the Jews should have adopted the wisdom of Kabbalah. Because they didn’t do this, they began to disappear.

In fact, since the 16th century, we needed to know about our inner wisdom. If we don’t add spiritual development to popular Judaism, people will disappear from Judaism because a Jew can only exist as a religious Jew or a spiritual Jew who applies the wisdom of Kabbalah. When a Jewish person becomes assimilated, the Jewish point in him enters into a coma.

Being a spiritual Jew means returning to our root, correcting human nature, living according to the general rule, “And you shall love your friend as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18). A spiritual Jew gives an example of how we connect to each other with love, above the egoism of each and every one. If the current trend continues, it is specifically the Jews abroad who will harm the nation of Israel. In the United States, the Jews will completely disappear, except for a few ultra-orthodox groups.

At the peak of our development, humanity will reach a state in which everyone will be equal and connected, and the people of Israel must provide an example of it. If we don’t provide an example like this to the world, everyone will forcefully pressure us and obligate us to do it. Without adding the values of the wisdom of Kabbalah, spirituality, to our lives, we are liable to disappear.

The Attributes That Remind About The Spiritual Correction

Laitman_043Torah, Deuteronomy 11:20: And you shall inscribe them upon the doorposts of your house and upon your gates….

A person must realize all the commandments not only within himself, but on every possible external manifestation of his egoism. The doorposts and the gates are the restrictions that exist around our external desires. The fact is that desires come from inside out and are graded as following: the house, the yard, the fence around them, and then the field and the desert.

All this is inside a person; this is how he is created. He must also create such attributes, such symbols externally, in order to be aware of them. Therefore, there is a custom to kiss the mezuzah, but only in order to remind a person about his internal states that must be corrected.

The problem is that we don’t use them. It would be good if we explained that all of these are just signs that remind the people that they must correct their hearts. However, since we don’t teach them this, people are satisfied with performing the commandments mechanically and consider themselves righteous because of it. People don’t want to learn and listen to what the wisdom of Kabbalah tells them.

It is necessary to teach them both at the same time and not to replace one with another! This is the problem.

Torah, Deuteronomy 11:21: In order that your days may increase and the days of your children, on the land which the Lord swore to your forefathers to give them, as the days of heaven above the earth.

“In order that your days may increase” is a constant elevation on the 125 degrees to the world of infinity (Ein Sof), so that a person will possess “this land,” meaning all of the immense desire within him. He must reveal, develop, and correct it and exist in it on a completely different level.

How Can We Make The Creator Happy?

laitman_938_02Question: How can we make the Creator happy if the Creator is a system? It is like trying to make the law of gravity happy.

Answer: Everything depends on our attitude to the Creator because we bring our feelings into this system.

When we work on a computer, we sometimes get angry at it, curse it, and even want to break it.  Why? This happens because we transfer our emotions to those objects that deal with the forces we are interacting with. It is the same with the Creator. The Creator is absolute! The absolute cannot be changed. He is not influenced by our requests and cannot interact with us because He is absolute!

Question: So how can we make the Creator happy?

Answer: We make Him happy in our sensations. Therefore, the Creator is called Bore (come and see). I come and see and discover Him inside me.

Question: Does this mean that we only feel that we make Him happy?

Answer: Yes. The Creator is something that applies to me, in our corrected feelings. We can say that something exists externally to us and still we have to work for the Creator because this is how we feel wholeness. When we attain Him, we begin to understand what is concealed in these words, what it means to bring the Creator contentment and whether this is possible. This is what awaits us in the future.

Question: If the Creator is the connection of everyone to everyone, how can this connection be happy?

Answer: When we connect with each other, a connection that is above us is created between us even though it is woven from our feelings, thoughts, intentions, and relationships between us. Because it isn’t in each of us, it is created between us, in the distance between us, in the connection between two people. This connection is not in a certain person or in me, but between us. The emptiness that is revealed in the mutual relations between us is what displays the Creator’s image to us.

Question: What is the meaning of dreams in our world?

Answer: Dreams are the outcome of our thoughts and our daily experiences and feelings.

Question: I met a person who has been studying Kabbalah for 15 years. He doesn’t like animals. I love them and try to help homeless animals. Is it a Kabbalist’s privilege to hate animals?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah tells us to establish a connection between all of mankind into one system.

In the process of creating such a connection, we will discover that we are in a single system with the animate, vegetative, and even the inanimate levels of nature. But the main thing is the connection between people in order to achieve the revelation of the Creator in this connection here and now.

A Kabbalist’s Strength Is His Weakness

laitman_624_02_0Question: Does a Kabbalist have to be courageous?

Answer: Not at all!

The wisdom of Kabbalah is for weak people, because they reach the goal much faster by realizing they are actually a “rag.” And thus, they will turn more quickly to the Creator.

A person who comes in and says: “Where is the Creator? What wall do I have to break through in order to reach Him?!” has to be beaten many times before so he can be turned into a rag.

After all, a person does not have the strength to enter the upper world. He has to reach the state where he only asks for the strength to reach the level of the next world.

Lyrics, Not The Truth

laitman_600_04Question: Is a classical symphony orchestra performing the brilliant works of Bach or Mozart an example of a group that summons the Upper Light and connects to the Creator and His infinite perfection?

Answer: You probably don’t know the musicians very well, especially ones in a symphony orchestra. Competition, hatred, and manipulations flourish between them.

They are harmonious with each other only as musicians; the internal harmony of the hearts, the contact between the hearts, can be created only by the help of the Upper Light. So leave that to the lyrics, not to the truth.
