The Secret Of Life Discovered By Adam

laitman_744Question: We usually celebrate our birthday and that of our relatives. What is the meaning of celebrating Rosh Hashanah, which is the birthday of a person who lived thousands of years ago?

Answer: We celebrate the anniversary of the day that the opportunity to discover the secret of life, the purpose of our life, and the meaning of life, which makes it worth living, was first revealed to mankind.

These questions about the meaning of life awaken in many people today. Adam HaRishon (First Man) was the first to discover this secret. He explored it and found out that we are living in this world in a special reality so that we will ascend from it to an upper level, to a whole and eternal existence.

We can actually attain this existence right now and don’t have to die in order to do so. Death itself doesn’t provide us with the right to enter the upper world. If it were so, why would it be worthwhile to do anything in this life?

People think that by living without the revelation of the upper world they will be able to enter it after they die. So what do we need this world for?

Many don’t even believe that there is anything else other than this corporeal world. This is exactly the secret that Adam discovered. And this is the event that we celebrate when the Jewish new year begins.

It is because we discover that we have nowhere to advance to since this world is only a passageway, a corridor, through which we can arrive at the revelation of the Creator (Bore), which means to come and see (Bo – Re).

Question: Will this happen after we die?

Answer: It will not happen after the death of our body, but after the death of our ego. It says “you shall see your world in your lifetime.” So please see it while you are alive!

Adam discovered that anyone who wants to has the opportunity to discover the upper world, that is, the next level according to the order of our evolution, here and now in this world.

There Is A Reason To Celebrate And Be Happy

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Every year we wish each other a good year, and at the end of the year it turns out that it wasn’t particularly successful. In what way are we mistaken? All of us want things to be good, but we don’t know how to do this.

Answer: We don’t understand that to the degree of our rapprochement with each other, we are approaching the higher power, the good and beneficent force. The formula is very simple: the closer we are to each other, the closer we become to the Creator.

It would seem that there is no simpler formula than this, but it is not possible to carry it out through human powers. And so the wisdom of Kabbalah was revealed to help in doing this through the higher power. The upper force will help a person in this way only, and not in anything else. It is only waiting for this request from us.

Question: If Adam already opened the way to the good life 5,776 years ago, why didn’t he show it to everyone? Why was it necessary to go through all the wars, exiles, and troubles through which humanity has passed for thousands of years?

Answer: Adam taught his method because the Kabbalists in all generations were followers of the students of Abraham. To this day Kabbalists study the discovery of Adam so that in each and every generation further and further new details were added to the study.

Kabbalah develops like every other science, and ultimately we received knowledge about what kind of upper world is found above us, how it influences us and manages us, and how it is possible to influence it from below to above.

We clarify that the upper world and our lower world are completely interconnected, and within our relationships with each other we discover the upper force driving both these worlds called the Creator. The wisdom of Kabbalah deals with the discovery of the upper force and the establishment of a mutual connection with it.

The problem is that it is possible to discover the upper force only on condition that we resemble and become equivalent to its characteristics, like everything else in our lives. I will not be able to understand another person if he is talking in a language that is unknown to me or he talks about things that are understood only by a professional, or we have such different perspectives that we cannot communicate.

All of our senses, sight, hearing, smelling, taste, and touch are arranged to absorb only what we are ready to perceive in the range of frequencies of their sensitivity. But we have no sensitivity regarding the upper world; we still need to develop this within us. And this is what Kabbalah teaches us.

And so there is a name for this, Kabbalah,  from the word, “LeKabel” (to receive); it is a wisdom about how to receive, grasp, understand, and feel the upper world. Adam left us this knowledge, and all the Kabbalists that came after him developed his discovery more and more and added to it, similar to how physics develops from generation to generation.

As a result, today there is a developed, unique, and powerful science in our hands that explains how we must discover the essence of life and its purpose practically, meaning to implement it. The Kabbalists from the past wrote about our generation, pointing to it as the “Generation of the Messiah,” that is, those who could draw upon all of the wisdom and use it, ultimately attaining and knowing the purpose of our existence on the face of this Earth.

Humanity has reached a state where it must answer this question, otherwise our situation will be hopeless. Kabbalah opens up all the possibilities within us, so we have a reason to celebrate the new year and be happy; we just need to correctly use the gift that we received from Adam HaRishon (The First Man), Adam.

Invisible Righteousness

laitman_281_01Question: When you look at people who are known as Kabbalists, you don’t see that they are more kind and loving than others or that they help other people. They are serious, religious people who study from books. How can you identify who is a real Kabbalist?

Answer: I don’t know how people define and determine who is a Kabbalist and who is not. It is impossible to determine this by one’s external behavior.

Question: Are all the Kabbalists righteous?

Answer: Some Kabbalists can reach the state in which they become righteous. A righteous is a special spiritual level. Every great Kabbalist is a righteous.

Hallucinations: Caused By Drugs Or The Attainment Of A New Reality

laitman_571_06Question: A new movie came out not too long ago in which the main character, a woman who uses drugs, seems to feel all of creation and melts into it.

Answer: I don’t even want to talk about that because it is a completely unrealistic world that was created in man’s dark and foggy consciousness under the influence of chemical substances that can lead to different illusions and fantasies. Why should we talk about such states if they are artificial? What problem can we solve with that? What do we achieve that way? It is needless to imagine that by using drugs we enter some different reality. It is an absolute fallacy.

Publicizing drugs in movies or books is very helpful to those who spread them. This is the reason they make such movies and laws that make drugs legal.

We must reach the truth in our real life. After all, nature has its own goal and its own way of attaining it. But if we pass this way consciously or under the influence of blows, whether we see this goal from a distance or go into gridlock, receiving blows and then going to the main road to reach the goal—only this is the problem of our development.

Question: Does this mean that a person worries about nothing but pleasures and sufferings? Can’t he think about anything else?

Answer: Of course. We are absolute animals because the ego manages us. Our nature is a desire to enjoy, and if we believe that we are controlled by positive impulses, we are terribly wrong because these impulses are also part of the desire to receive and enjoy.

Question: What can we do in order to be free of that?

Answer: We must simply learn to manage it correctly, and then all of our problems will disappear.

We will look at the world, at ourselves, and at life rationally. We will understand our nature and how, by using it and controlling our ego correctly, we can bring ourselves to the feeling of an eternal, whole, and unlimited state. We can receive such information about our feelings and about harmony that no drug addict can ever dream of. It is possible.

The Wisdom Of Kabbalah Is Not A Religion

226Question: You receive a lot of criticism on your position that Kabbalah isn’t a religion and has no connection to Judaism. Please explain to me why the great Kabbalists who lived in our times Baal HaSulam and Rabash were Orthodox Jews and in no way said that God is just nature and not a personality.

Answer: Baal HaSulam explained this in the best way in his article, “The Essence of Religion and Its Purpose.” We know more from Ramchal (Moshe Chaim Luzzatto) about the wisdom of Kabbalah for people who are not Jewish. And all of the wisdom of Kabbalah speaks only about the development of love for others, and religion talks about the carrying out of corporeal Mitzvot (commandments).

The definition of the wisdom of Kabbalah is: a system to reveal the Creator to the created beings in this world. Religion doesn’t aspire to achieve the same goal (revelation of the Creator through love of others) as Kabbalah. Thus it is not the same thing.

Thus your proposal that God is a personality simply makes me wonder if maybe you are an idol worshipper.

Moses’ Legacy Isn’t Lost

laitman_740_03The Torah, “Numbers,” 14:24 – 14:25: But My servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed Me fully, him will I bring into the land whereunto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

Now the Amalekite and the Canaanite dwell in the Vale; tomorrow turn ye, and get you into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.

Question: The Creator distinguishes Caleb (stemming from the words “like a heart” in Hebrew) and says: “I will bring him into the land whereunto he went and his seed shall possess it.” Does that mean then there is another desire in us to be there other than Moses?

Answer: There is no greater prophet than Moses, but there are many attributes that we discover after him. Moses is the attribute of Bina without which Malchut cannot move one millimeter towards the Creator.

But the attribute of Bina is limited. It provides everything Malchut can demand in order to sanctify itself and to correct the intention so that it will be in order to bestow, but Bina itself feels nothing towards receiving.

Connecting the attributes of Bina and Malchut enables the appearance of new attributes that are stronger than Bina because then Malchut can receive in the intention of in order to bestow. These attributes are much stronger than Moses, but at the same time, are also closer to the Creator and more distant from the Creator.

They are closer to the Creator by being able to receive the revelation from Him. The Creator isn’t revealed to Moses. On the contrary, Moses always keeps away from that because he is the attribute of Bina.

Everyone else, those who conquer the land of Israel, the generation that began to live in it, those who build the Temple, etc., attain the Creator in their previous egoistic desires that were corrected by the attribute of Moses (Bina) and thus ascend towards the Creator.

The difference is that when you work with the ego with the intention of in order to bestow you are like the Creator because you bestow like Him, in practice. The attribute of Bina, on the other hand, isn’t like the Creator in its actions but in the attribute itself. Bina doesn’t do anything but simply has the same attribute as the Creator.

So on the one hand, Moses seems to be so humble, even weak, protecting himself from the revelation of the Creator, and the Creator turns His posterior to him and goes behind him. But this attribute is a typical attribute of the Creator and is the strongest of all the attributes that can be revealed in the created being. When you begin to use it in your work with the ego, it isn’t in a clean way, although it allows you to ascend spiritually.

The attribute of Moses in Malchut created individual figures like Caleb. Moses’ job is to awaken those who can continue the spiritual action. This is his job. Therefore, the attribute of Moses lives in each of us, from the first man who attained the Creator to the last. Otherwise we wouldn’t be able to correct ourselves, to work with Malchut, since Malchut is Pharaoh. Moses is the attribute of bestowal that was created above Pharaoh, so not one man nor everyone together can attain a private or a general correction unless they use the attribute of Moses that actually exists in opposition to Pharaoh.

Caleb and all the others, on the other hand, are derivatives of Moses in Malchut, and although Moses dies, he exists in everyone who enters the land of Israel because he inserted himself into them. But now he isn’t revealed in his pure form, the way it was during the forty years in the desert but in the attribute to receive in order to bestow. This is the reason that it says that he was dying because this attribute in its pure form disappears.

Everything that happens later happens as a result of what a person, the ego, absorbs from the attribute of Moses that totally dissolves and begins to work.

In other words, we process the attribute of Moses into our ego in everything that happens until the end of correction. In the correct form, all the egoistic attributes build Malchut of Ein Sof (Infinity) or the general vessel for the revelation of the Creator, which means our perfect state.

Thus when Moses is processed inside us, new names that are created as a result of the symbiosis between Malchut and Bina emerge. Bina is that attribute of Moses and Malchut is the land of Israel that has received the minimal correction from Moses on the level of the still nature. Then there are the levels of the vegetative, the animate, and the speaking, and everything enters the four levels of the correction of the desire.

As a leader, Moses is an amazing man, but he is first of all the attribute of love and that’s the main thing. Then there is everything else, but only love rules: both love for people and love for the Creator. This is the leader, but hy itself, it doesn’t exist.
