Add Your Sesame Seed To Shift The Balance In The World’s Favor

Laitman_504Baal HaSulam, “The Arvut (Mutual Guarantee)” Section 20: Thus, each and every Mitzva that each person from Israel performs in order to bring contentment to one’s Maker, and not for any self-gratification, helps, to some extent, with the development of all the people of the world. This is because it is not done at once, but by slow, gradual development, until it increases to such a degree that it can bring all the people in the world to the desired purity. And this is what our sages call “shifting the balance to virtue,” meaning that the necessary weight of purity has been reached. And they compare it to weighing on a scale, where the shifting of the balance is the attainment of the desired weight.

These are very serious conditions. There are people who are more ready to comply with them, and there are those who are less ready. This depends on their previous preparation. It depends on their past and the root of their soul. There are people who cannot comply with this, and they leave. When a person comes to study, in the first years, he doesn’t hear what they say to him, and it is good that he doesn’t hear! Therefore the wisdom of Kabbalah was concealed for so long so people wouldn’t know about the serious conditions.

Specifically because of this condition, the Shevira (Breaking) happened, the destruction of the First and Second Temples. Therefore, we needed to move away from the place of Shevira because we were not ready to withstand it. So, we were forced to endure exile for 2,000 years to gradually get closer to the condition due to which the great people fell in the days of the Beit ha Mikdash (Temple).

In our day, we have reached readiness, and we have received all the explanations from Baal HaSulam in the article “The Arvut (Mutual Guarantee)” so directly and openly that it places us facing this condition such that there is nowhere to flee. But even after all of this, people who come to study don’t absorb what is said at all in the first ten years.

But at least they are near these things because throughout previous incarnations they were far from discovery, and the message has been revealed now, even though, in the meantime, they are not absorbing it. There is still resistance. There is contact, but it is not yet internal. And later these words gradually begin to penetrate into a person through disappointments, various unpleasant problems. and events.

They must continue in spite of everything, and the Light will continue to work.

The environment obligates a person, gives him various tasks, sending him to disseminate, to various duties. It awakens and obligates him. He must do his duty, otherwise they won’t let him rest. So, this is very influential on him and advances him, hastening his development, and finally he begins to see that he has no choice and that spirituality is not at all the way he used to think about it, and he doesn’t attain and is unable to attain true spirituality.

He begins to understand that everything is determined by emotion and not intellect, but it is impossible to control emotions. He is not dependent on us, but only on the Light that Reforms, which changes a person’s feelings, his desire. So, gradually, he digests these concepts: what the love of others truly is and how impossible it is to attain it on one’s own; it depends entirely on the Light that Reforms.

So, he begins to organize all of his activities so that the Light will influence him and correct him. This is a great revolution that happens in a person after many years within the group in the process of correction, study, and dissemination, and the entire world must go through all of this.

But it is up to us to understand that every action we make adds to the favorable balance of the entire world. In the integral system, nothing happens to me individually without being felt by everyone. At the end of correction, what we did for everyone and what everyone did will be revealed. We will have a common understanding and common sense, and all of us will be able to feel this entire system together. Each one will be equivalent to the entire system.

Then, in exactly what form each one within this entire system acts for the good of others will be discovered. They will not take into account how they brought the person down from above, pushed him, and what the conditions were that he was given. Rather, it will be what the efforts were that he invested in the conditions that they gave him and whether he realized his freedom of choice.

All of this will be revealed at the end of correction, and each one will be ashamed of himself due to the achievements of his friend. This is how we correct the shame that is rooted in us and is the cause for the evolution of all the worlds.

About The Blows Of The Past And Of The Future

Laitman_043Question: Several researchers of modern anti-Semitism refer to the fact that the Torah calls the nation of Israel the chosen and the holy nation, which is hard to swallow for those looking for a correction in equality…

Answer: It is not that the Torah tells us such things; it is the more the Israeli nation doesn’t display them and doesn’t proclaim them as its foundation. Many don’t know about this, but it didn’t decrease the intensity of their feelings.

We are actually dealing with the force found in nature, in our human desires. Even people who feel nothing towards the nation of Israel and who don’t know anything about its roots, still feel this hatred. It stems from their very nature, and there is nothing we can do about it. The vessels of the desire to receive naturally hate bestowal and true connection the Torah speaks about.

We don’t feel hatred towards this but resistance. Bestowal still belongs to us and not to anyone else. Those who don’t feel part of it hate it to such an extent that they are actually ready to destroy, kill, and eliminate it.

Nothing is more natural than this. This is actually the reason that Esau wanted to kill Jacob, but couldn’t do it because the subconscious image of Esau in a person is the thought that without Jacob he will not survive that stops him. We see in the Torah that it is impossible to manage in the world without a source of bestowal. But the desire to destroy or to subdue and to bend the attribute of bestowal still burns in a person, especially now.

We may wonder how this is possible in the 21st century. People don’t understand that a new era is beginning, which requires the nation of Israel to actually act. Previously this was so. Despite the hatred of the other nations, it wasn’t really obliged to fulfill the correction, but still underwent terrible sufferings.

Only recently, we haven’t suffered for a short time because the Creator enabled us to return to the land of Israel and determine that we are here in order to start the correction. But the initial period of our return to this land has ended. Baal HaSulam tells us about it in the “A Speech for the Completion of The Zohar,” saying that we were given the chance and now if the nation of Israel doesn’t actually fulfill its correction, all the sufferings we have underwent will seem like nothing compared to the new sufferings that will come.

It is because we have never been in a state in which we had to fulfill the correction after the exile of the nation of Israel, and so the account with this nation will be very hard. All the blows we received before were only in order to keep us from connecting with the nations of the world so that we would not forget. They helped us remain separate and to guard ourselves so that we would be able to return to the correction that will come later. But those were also terrible blows.

Now, however, they will come from a totally different source. We have to understand that it is our duty to bring the message of the correction to the world. After all,  ultimately we who are to blame. Others still don’t know about this, while we do know, and so we will be demanded to fulfill it. If we fall asleep, all the blows of the world will be on our conscience.

Two Inseparable Parts

laitman_557Our reality is divided into worlds, Partzufim, and Sefirot, which are the wrapping and place where the soul is found. The soul is the outcome of the evolution of this structure and it develops from its inner point.

Similarly, the still nature developed first in our world and then the nature of the vegetative on this planet, then the animals and finally man. This is exactly how the spiritual system that preceded the system of nature developed.

There is a correlation between the systems of the worlds and all its mechanisms and the system of the soul that is in the system of the worlds. The worlds are only the exterior part while the soul is internal.

There is in fact only one soul, but we don’t feel it. We will have to attain it in the future. The more we connect, the more we become part of this system, the more we begin to feel it. But in the meantime we are disconnected from this feeling.

The system of the worlds is divided into internality and externality. The internality is the systems of the world of Ein Sof (Infinity) and the world of AK and Atzilut. The externality is the worlds of BYA, including this world, which is the lowest level.

There is a soul that undergoes the shattering in these worlds, and it also includes two parts: internality and externality, both before and after the shattering, both for the sake of corruption and correction.

The internality of the souls are the people who yearn straight to the Creator, (Yashar-El), who yearn for adhesion with Him. 5,774 years ago Adam was the first to discover this yearning and discovered the system of the general soul and the worlds.

Then there were twenty generations until Abraham gathered the people who wanted to attain the Creator into a group and called it Israel (Yashar-El). Thus he also distinguished them from all the others so that they would be able to start working according to the principle of “love thy friend as thyself” and attain the equivalence of form with the Creator, and accordingly attain the upper system.

Later this group underwent the shattering and was exiled; as of today, this group, together with all those who join it day by day, is formatting and preparing itself for the correction. In general, the phase of correction has come not only for this group but for all of humanity.

On the whole, the division into two parts is kept the whole way: the nation of Israel (that yearns for the Creator) is divided into two parts, GE (internality) and AHP (externality). Humanity is also divided into internality and externality, and on the whole we can identify the two parts in every individual, since the “the individual and the general are equal.” This refers both to the worlds and to the souls after the general soul was shattered.

The internality and the externality are opposite from one another and the Upper Light operates on them in order to coordinate between the system of the worlds and the system of the souls.

The influence of the Upper Light on us is also divided into internality and externality because if there is a division in the vessels into two parts with respect to the Light,  the Creator, the upper system; the separation of functions is discernable in every facet.

Accordingly, the externality of the worlds is called the nations of the world and the internality is called Israel, according to the direction of Yashar-El. The nation of Israel and the nations of the world are also divided into internality and externality.

Every world, every Partzuf, in the general system in which the souls exist until they connect into one soul; this whole operating system that manages the souls is also divided into internality and externality, into GE (vessels of bestowal) and AHP (vessels of receiving).

Connected Desires Are Like Welded Pipes

laitman_528_04Question: What does one need in order to be as closely in an equivalence of form with the teacher as possible?

Answer: Everyone feels this according to the sublteties of his soul. But if we decide to perform some general action, everyone has to participate in them, otherwise a person is neither with the group nor with me and it is as if he is thrown off the boat into the stormy sea, although he may not feel it.

Besides, if I work with someone on a certain project, no matter what one does: one can take care of the electricity, another can prepare excerpts from articles, etc., and there are others who have to see what is required of them. They come to me to clarify what I want exactly and why I think so, an expert may explain to me that it should be done in a different way and then I may change my mind.

But the student has to care that his opinion and my opinion should be one! If he doesn’t agree with me, let him come and convince me. This often happens, I am not so stubborn that I don’t listen to reason. It’s usually about corporeal matters, including dissemination because there can be different local conditions I am not aware of. But the principle is “make your desire his desire,” which means that there should be an agreement between the student and his teacher and the fulfillment of the desire.

Question: How should I know that I have made my desire his desire? Not everyone can come and ask!

Answer: If it is a personal project you may come and ask. If it is a general project in dissemination, I count on the people in charge of this project. I hope that they understand the responsibility they have to guide everyone according to what has been decided. It is as if we all reach one desire, one intention, one direction, and then we go out and disseminate. There you have to make sure that things don’t divert in other directions, and if this suddenly happens you should consult me.

If we don’t hold on to the accurate direction, it is like two connected pipes where one suddenly shifts and then nothing can flow through them. I have to make my desire his desire for the Light to flow.
