The Purpose of the Mind

202.0One should say about that, “They have eyes but they see not.” “They” means that as long as one is in multiple authorities, called “they,” they do not see the truth. What are the multiple authorities? As long as one has two desires, even though he believes that the entire world belongs to the Creator, but something belongs to man, too.

Question: Who are these multiple authorities? Is it our physical environment that is far from the truth?

Answer: No, it is ourselves, the power of our egoism, which does not allow us to see the truth.

Question: What must happen in the mind to understand that there is a single truth? Is there some reason for this definition, or is everything decided only by the Creator?

Answer: No, you decide everything when you ask the Creator. This is the purpose of the mind.

How Can I Help a Friend Justify the Creator?

528.02Question: How can I help a friend justify the Creator and accept everything?

Answer: Give him your own example or the example of others so that he can see that justifying the Creator is our very first action. After this, we can continue to work with Him and draw closer to Him. But the most important thing is to nullify yourself toward the Creator and approach Him on His terms.

Question: Do I nullify myself precisely toward the Creator or toward the circumstances that He gives?

Answer: Of course, toward the circumstances. We do not comprehend the Creator himself; we comprehend only those circumstances that He offers us.

The Advantage of the Accelerated Path

760.4It turns out that there are two authorities here acting in the above-mentioned conduct of development: One is the authority of heaven, which is sure to turn anything harmful and evil to good and useful, but it will come in its time, in its own way, heavily, and after a long time. Then there is the authority of the earth. When the “evolving object” is a living, feeling being, it suffers horrendous torments and pains while under the “press of development” which carves its way ruthlessly.

The “authority of the earth,” however, consists of people who have taken this above-mentioned law of development under their own government and can free themselves entirely from the chains of time, and who greatly accelerate time, namely the completion of the ripeness and correction of the object, which is the end of its development (Baal HaSulam, “Peace in the World“).

Question: What are we accelerating every moment?

Answer: Our development. If we attract light from above, it affects us and develops us.

At the same time, the order of development does not change; the speed changes because if we go in the same direction as the whole general process, then we become involved in it and develop faster. This is called Achishena (accelerated path).

And if we don’t go with it, we still develop, but against our will. And it’s called Beito when everything has its time.

Question: At every moment something happens to us and this leads a person to correction. And what are we speeding up here? Compressing the course of events?

Answer: That’s right. We are speeding up time.

Question: Then do these events take place in some other plane?

Answer: These events can pass quickly, change us, and put us in a new state every time, and sometimes they can delay us. In general they help us realize where we are and what we need to do next.

It depends on us how correctly we will react to what the Creator does to us. If we reacted correctly to an event, and it shrank to a single moment, then we were able to understand, realize, and include in ourselves all the changes that the Creator wants to make in us.

Question: How do we figure it out? He doesn’t give instructions.

Answer: The Creator gave us a complete instruction, and the simplest one. He says that if you connect with each other, then you move forward on the right road. That is all. What is not clear here?

Question: And how is the fact that we connect in a group, in a ten, connected with the event that is happening?

Answer: When we connect with each other, we bring the light of the Creator through us to all mankind, especially to those desires and properties that are far from the right creation. And it turns out that the whole world is moving forward.

For the Creator’s Sake

509Question: How do we build the intention to bestow on the desire to receive?

Answer: Initially we only have the desire to receive, and we try to ask the Creator for the desire to connect together instead in order to be able to bestow to Him.

Just as He wants to bestow to us, we must bestow to Him. It turns out that we are doing the same work: “I am to the Creator, and the Creator is to me.” In this way, we reach the goal.

Question: If we receive taste and pleasure when we work together, do we pass these pleasures to the Creator? Or does He automatically receive pleasure from this work?

Answer: No, we receive pleasure from spiritual work because we are doing it for the sake of the Creator.

Wisdom of Life Experience

249.01Question: It is said that there is none wiser than the experienced. But at the same time, does the state of wisdom of life experience contradict confidence in the Creator and connection with Him?

Answer: No, this is incorrect. It is the wisdom of life that leads a person to the correct attitude to life, even if he begins to doubt his abilities.

The sources say that when you have the power of holiness, then you will have something to answer. This means that you will have the opportunity, the strength, the confidence, and the wisdom to respond correctly to your body and your mind.

Lasting Pleasure

572.02In other words, one can please a limited body with one’s work and effort, which is either a passing guest or an eternal one, meaning that one’s energy remains in eternity. (Baal HaSulam, Shamati 30 “The Most Important Is to Want Only to Bestow“)

Question: What is the difference between the feeling of pleasure in the quality of “a passing guest” and the quality of “an eternal one”?

Answer: If you don’t think about yourself, that you want to get something, then everything goes fine. And if you keep thinking “Where is my pay? Where are my earnings?”, then you have nothing left. It all disappears as if it dissipates in the air.

The purpose of creation is to delight the creatures. This is what the Creator wants. But He wants to give them real pleasure: eternal, infinite, unlimited, and imperishable.

Therefore we must reach a state where we are ready to rise above our egoism and think only about how to be able to receive and give unlimitedly, meaning to expand our Kelim (vessels). And then we will have the right attitude to the nature of the Creator and to the nature of the world.

Question: A person gets pleasure from giving to others. How does this differ from the pleasure that is called the quality of a passing guest? How at the same time can one not slip into enjoying for oneself?

Answer: The difference is very big because, according to your intention, you can go from receiving for yourself to receiving for the sake of bestowal. And thus you move from one world that is egoistic to another world that is altruistic.

Strengthen Your Faith

934Question: What helps us to strengthen our faith and not fall into doubts? How can we support each other in this in the ten?

Answer: First of all, we must unite in the ten. Moreover, we must unite in such a way that we do not have any questions as to whether we are connected to each other or not, or whether we help each other or not. All these issues must be resolved.

We are absolutely sure that we are connected to each other and therefore connected to the Creator.

Question: Do I understand correctly that only to the extent of my faith, without any doubt, can the Creator honor me with the quality of bestowal?

Answer: This is first. And second, the first is not even as important as the fact that you want to have a sense of faith. Meaning, you want to fully relate to the Creator the way He relates to you. That is the most important thing. I want to bestow to the Creator everything that is in me, and in this case it does not matter to me how much I receive and what He gives me.
