Torah, Deuteronomy 28:55: …of giving any one of them of the flesh of his children that he is eating, because not a thing will remain for him in the siege and in the desperation which your enemies will bring upon you, in all your cities.

Once prophets wrote that if we do not move by the way of hastening the time, we will go through terrible states, up to a point when “merciful mothers will eat their children.” The prophets speak of this true state that can manifest. There were such examples in history.

However, in the Torah this is about the inner state. A person will eat the flesh of his children, not in the physical sense, although this is also possible.

The main thing is that he himself will devour all his continuation, all his dream to reach the upper state, in his egoism, destroying his future. This is worse than death; after all, in death there still is some hope for renewal.

“Not a thing will remain for him in the siege and in the desperation which your enemies will bring upon you, in all your cities.” Egoism will devour absolutely everything. You burn your future without any hope for renewal, for a new birth.

Torah, Deuteronomy 29:04 – 29:05: I led you through the desert for forty years [during which time] your garments did not wear out from upon you, nor did your shoes wear out from upon your feet. You neither ate bread, nor drank new wine or old wine, in order that you would know that I am the Lord, your God.

In the desert I eat only MAN (manna) because it is the quality of Bina, bestowal—there is nothing else. I feed only on the quality of bestowal.

It is my bread, my food, and my clothes—absolutely everything. Clothes mean all the screens (Masachim) that are on me. Food is the Light of Hassadim that I consume and live by. It means that all this is just adhesion to the Creator. I cling to Him with all the egoistic desires that arise in me, and thus I am cleansed of their egoistic fulfilment.

I live and am fulfilled only by the fact that every time I get closer and closer to Him. I receive a life-giving force from Him.

In other words, MAN are the degrees that a person goes through during the so-called 40 years of wandering in the desert, that is, the ascent from Malchut to Bina.

They are called rungs of purification, not rungs of realization of egoism to altruism but of purification, because I do not use the egoistic desires, I only rise above them leaving all my egoism below.

And when I start shovelling egoism that I left below, it means that I am already in the land of Israel.

Torah, Deuteronomy 28:68: And the Lord will bring you back to Egypt in ships, through the way about which I had said to you, You will never see it again. And there, you will seek to be sold to your enemies for slaves and handmaids, but there will be no buyer.

None of the nations will want you to live within their borders. The fact is that the desires that are subject to correction, in which the point in the heart arises, cannot exist inside egoistic desires.

They will be pushed out by the law of equivalence of form, and therefore the Jews will be completely isolated from others. And where will they be? Speaking from the geographical point of view, it is simply not clear where and how they will live because the only place for them is the land of Israel.

On the other hand, in order to choose the path of correction, a person must have freewill. This is a problem. I personally hope that there will be another round such as the one in the days of Tsarist Russia when the first Jewish societies that returned to Palestine were born.

Comment: But then the Jews were running away from pogroms.

My Response: Perhaps such circumstances will arise once again when they will be forced to leave the countries of exile. But this time there will be a basis prepared for them, a reason to return here. We are preparing this basis.

Question: It is written: “And the Lord will bring you back to Egypt in ships.” What does this mean?

Answer: To return to Egypt means to return to your egoism. If you are running away to some place, it is considered that you are running away by sea. There is no other way out of Israel, only by sea. All of this is explained in the Torah.

Torah, Deuteronomy 28:69 – 29:03: These are the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

And Moses called all of Israel and said to them, “You have seen all that the Lord did before your very eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh, to all his servants, and to all his land; the great trials which your very eyes beheld and those great signs and wonders.

Yet until this day, the Lord has not given you a heart to know, eyes to see and ears to hear.

If you look from the side of the Judean desert, from the northern part of the Dead Sea against Jerusalem, then Moab stretches on the other side, beyond Jordan. Staying there, you are outside of the land of Israel, that is, you do not have to start correcting the desires for love, for reception for the sake of bestowal. However, these laws are already beginning to affect you.

Question: On one hand, it is written: “You have seen all that the Lord did before your very eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh, to all his servants, and to all his land; the great trials which your very eyes beheld.” On the other hand, it is written: “Yet until this day, the Lord has not given you a heart to know, eyes to see and ears to hear.” Why is there such a contradiction?

Answer: It is because the children of Israel have just finished mastering the degree of Bina, which is bestowal for the sake of bestowal, purification of their desires, and now they must start transforming them to bestowal and love.
This means that they must see because this is about the Light of Hochma.

Reading the chapter of the Torah “Ki Tavo” (“When You Come”), it seems that it is full of threats. However, these are not threats, but instructions that give us an opportunity to act correctly at a new level.

Let’s say that a person is engaged in constructing nuclear power plants. How long is it necessary to train him so he will work correctly with such complex and dangerous equipment?!

It is the same here, this chapter explains how to keep ourselves on the spiritual path and what all the tolerances and landings, measurements, controls, checks, joints, and so on should be.

“Ki Tavo” is a special chapter because it speaks about the entrance to the degree “the land of Israel.”

Question: Does it mean that if we make a mistake in producing “the nuclear plant” that is called “the entrance to the land of Israel,” then we will be undergoing a step-by-step trial?

Answer: We already are undergoing this step-by-step trial. Look what is happening in the world to this day. We do not even know the consequences of the Chernobyl accident and of the explosion at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan.

Question: That is, is a nuclear power plant just child’s play compared to the entrance to the land of Israel?

Answer: Of course! We somehow got out of this on the material level. Say, a couple of thousand people were killed, although in fact there were many more, another couple of thousand are ill due to the radiation, another couple of million people are also ill, but they do not know why. But humanity survived it all, and here it will not. Here the people that enter the land of Israel must move only forward, there is no turning back.

Ascending to this degree, you are obliged to fully obey the instructions, including all the slightest subtleties; otherwise, there will be a breakdown that will affect everyone.

Question: Do you mean that there is only an entrance and no way out?

Answer: No, you are kicked back from the land of Israel. This is what happened to us 2,000 years ago so that today we again will begin to rise to this level, and this is, in principle, what the wisdom of Kabbalah is preparing for us.

This is an entrance to such a level where even on the first degree you become similar to the Creator. This is called the land of Israel, which is when your egoism already begins transforming to the equivalence to the Creator.

Torah, Deuteronomy 29:18 – 29:21: And it will be, when he [such a person] hears the words of this oath, that he will bless himself in his heart, saying, “I will have peace, even if I follow my heart’s desires,” in order to add the [punishment for the] unintentional sins [of this man] to that of [his] intentional sins.

The Lord will not be willing to forgive him; rather, then, the Lord’s fury and His zeal will fume against that man, and the entire curse written in this book will rest upon him, and the Lord will obliterate his name from beneath the heavens.

And the Lord will separate him for evil, out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant, written in this Torah scroll.

The point is that the verification must be very strict. It is based on completely new assessments of analysis, identification, and separation of certain properties from others, their correction, etc. And only after this does the correct use of the desire for receiving for the sake of bestowal take place.

After all, a period begins when you receive the upper revelation in your egoism to transmit it to others. You are the transmission link for all the other souls or all the other parts of one collective soul. Therefore, if you pass that poison that you may not notice inside yourself on to others, then it becomes your problem multiplied many times over. You are responsible for this.

It is written: “And it will be, when he [such a person] hears the words of this oath, that he will bless himself in his heart, saying, ‘I will have peace, even if I follow my heart’s desires.’” That is, you depend on others. When you start working in the land of Israel, you are connected to others and they depend on you because for them you are in some way a representative of the Creator.

Torah, Deuteronomy 27:22: Cursed be he who lies with his sister, his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter. And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’

All the laws of the Torah relate, in the first place, to the spiritual state of a person; after all, the most important thing is to correct the soul.

These laws also exist in our world but only as a reflection of the upper laws of nature. Therefore, we speak only about their spiritual realization and, in no case, about the earthly one.

Kabbalists are engaged in the spiritual realization and religious people are engaged in the earthly one. Kabbalists and religious people disagree in this respect because religious people are engaged in the physical fulfillment of the laws of the Torah and not in their spiritual realization.

Question: It is written, “Cursed be he who lies with his sister.” What does “sister” mean from a spiritual point of view?

Answer: A person has many desires that he cannot correct in a direct way since he does not have a suitable screen. He must create a system for this and correct his desires with its help through subsystems that he forms within himself.

That is, he cannot directly influence his desires, which are called his various relatives such as his sister, his mother’s daughter, his mother-in-law, and so on.

These desires are being corrected and are represented in our relatives, especially those who are closer to us; relatives are subsystems in relation to a person.

Torah, Deuteronomy 28:49 – 28:50: The Lord will bring upon you a nation from afar, from the end of the earth, as the eagle swoops down, a nation whose language you will not understand, a brazen nation, which will not respect the elderly, nor show favor to the young.

Such egoistic qualities that you never suspected begin rising within you. They enslave you with more and more new egoistic instructions, and although you resist them, you nevertheless obey. And by obeying, you become an even bigger fan of fulfilling them. And you realize all of it!

A very interesting inner problem is revealed within you. On one hand, you are burning in your aspiration to fulfil the egoistic directions, and on the other hand, you are ashamed and you cannot do it, but you do it anyway.

It is written: “As the eagle swoops down, a nation whose language you will not understand.” These are new egoistic qualities that are revealed in a person, and he does not even understand them; they control him instinctively.

Although he had some ideas about honesty, about correct relationships and obligations, nothing is left of them in regard to parents, children, or society. Egoism rules in him directly, to the full depth of his nature.

Torah, Deuteronomy 28:48: Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemy whom HaShem shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things; and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.

You will feel that you are doing egoistic work and although it is hateful to you, you have no way of getting rid of it; it continues to control you. And you will feel so for many days and years of your life.

However, this is already the realization in which yoke you are in. Without such harsh, sharp, but useful feelings, it is impossible to pass to the upper world.

Question: Is this considered an advanced state?

Answer: Of course. It is when a person goes through this and understands that he cannot do anything because he still remains a slave of his desires; he hates them with full force, but at the same time, he cannot get rid of them; he gets an opportunity to cry out.

This cry, an appeal to the Creator, helps him enter the upper world, begin rising, as if he is rising up from the bottom of the pool.

Question: Does it mean that first he must be drowned?

Answer: Certainly. And to the end so that he would realize in all his desires and intentions to what extent there is not even a gram of a spiritual state in him.

He must understand that everything comes from the Creator and that he cannot deal with this. He does not care whether he will die or not, but he cannot part with his egoism. This realization should be final.

Torah, Deuteronomy 28:53: And during the siege and the desperation which your enemies will bring upon you, you will eat the fruit of your womb, the flesh of your sons and daughters, whom the Lord, your God, gave you.

If you cannot correct yourself, then all your actions that you are trying to perform with the best intentions nevertheless will be turning into impure ones and they will be detrimental to you. This is called “the fruit of your womb.”

Everything that will be born from you, all your actions, are “the flesh of your sons and daughters.”

And if you do not have strength to repel your enemy (egoism) and to begin using it for bestowal and love, then it will always besiege you. Either it will be ready to kill you or you will be ready to correct it.

Question: But it will always besiege me?

Answer: It is outside of you. As we learn from the method of perception of the universe, all my externality is actually projected outside of me and I see it outside of me as a result of my uncorrected state.

Question: Why do I have to see it outside of me?

Answer: This way you understand it more and you can see it better. It is like a map where you see everything on a small scale, say millimetre by millimetre. If we increase the scale significantly, then you will have to get on the plane in order to fly over this map and see everything on it.

Question: Does it mean that I cannot clearly see egoism within myself?

Answer: You cannot at all. Only through the things you see outside of you. Therefore, everything you see: good and kind or evil and bad points at your inner qualities.

For example, animals are ashamed of nothing, but a man is ashamed of some things within him because he looks at himself by looking at others. If this external object were inside him, he would not see it; he would not be ashamed and could not learn anything.

This way he educates himself through strangers, although they are not strangers but his inner qualities that are presented to him in a form of an external theatre. They play in front of him all the inner phenomena that occur in him. All his thoughts, desires, and intentions, he sees around himself.

Question: Can I train myself to live like this or not?

Answer: When the Light shines, you see that this is so. Up to the point that you clearly understand everything.

Moreover, you begin to correct yourself by directing these “artists,” “extras,” and the whole world. They show you where you still have not achieved perfection. The moment you achieve it, they all end up within you.

Question: What is primary here? Do I begin to change myself and see how they change, or I somehow change them and this way I myself change?

Answer: No, you begin to feel that only by changing your inner attitude you change their external behavior.
