Feelings that Cannot Be Conveyed

255Comment: There is always a layer of internal feelings behind your words. I understand what you are saying when you are explaining it, but I cannot convey it to others. There is always something lacking.

My Response: You will not succeed because my spiritual perception is on the opposition of two systems: egoistic and altruistic. And I somehow project this onto you. But you so far have only one system, i.e., you perceive what I say, but cannot convey it to another person.

Question: And if I were to manage to convey information to a person, would he be able to perceive it?

Answer: Every person can perceive it to some extent because you convey it to them in your instruments.

Question: When you speak in public, you have an internal exchange of information. People understand you, but when they leave a lecture and are asked, “How was it?”, they can’t really answer.

Answer: Nevertheless, they were able to feel something within themselves. They saw truth, logic, feelings, and verbal transmission of information and accepted my message. But they cannot convey and accurately define it. That usually happens the first time we perceive something new. But then you have to work hard to begin to recognize all this.

“Buying” a Friend

528.04Question: Your teacher Rabash wrote an article, “Make yourself a Rav and buy yourself a friend.” For the title, he took a saying from the Mishnah, a book by our sages about 2,000 years ago.

It gives the following advice: to acquire the property of bestowal (the property of the Creator), three conditions must be met. The first is to make yourself a Rav (Rav comes from the word “great,” teacher). The second is to buy yourself a friend. The third is to judge every person to the scale of merit.

I would like you to explain all three actions. Why do we need to fulfill them?

Answer: The point is that although we are connected with the Creator, we do not have mutual feelings with Him. Therefore, we cannot be with Him directly in such a relationship as with a friend, a teacher, or other people.

A person wishing to connect with the Creator must first acquire a friend. People who come to study Kabbalah and whose goal is to reveal the Creator must be in a group of like-minded individuals and develop mutual connection among themselves. Moreover, this connection should be higher than anything else for them. That is the first condition for a person striving to attain the upper world.

Question: But why specifically “buy” a friend? What does this mean?

Answer: It means using all opportunities to bring a person like you who is striving for the same goal closer to you, and being able to unite with them like with no one else. After all, in this connection, you are considered as one whole.

Invest in Friends

938.04Question: It is said: first, make yourself a Rav. What does that mean?

Answer: Rav, from the word “great,” a teacher. “Make” means approaching him with gifts, participation, friendliness, etc.

Comment: I remember you explained that if we talk about the Creator, “make” means I must accept the upper governance. That is, I agree that He requires the quality of bestowal from me.

My Response: Yes, you will come to that eventually but not at the beginning of your relationship.

In principle, making yourself a Rav and buying a friend relates more to the friend. If you have a group of friends before you, you should “buy” them, meaning invest in them, “buy” their attention so they can respond to you similarly and there is a mutual guarantee between you. That is mutual work.

To make a Rav out of a friend, you must see him as great, and then you will acquire all spiritual qualities through him. It is precisely in connection with friends and rising above yourself that you can acquire spiritual qualities through them.

How Can We Attain the Significance of the Creator?

961.2Question: How can all of Bnei Baruch, all the groups, attach themselves to the significance of the Creator that you possess?

Answer: You should not strive for that. You should strive to establish a connection between yourselves and feel the Creator within this connection.

Question: Where will you be in this process?

Answer: I will be somewhere nearby. I say this very seriously. I do not want you to feel obligated or dependent on me. Your development should be free.

Question: Can we, by awakening the significance of the Creator between us, use you as an example so the importance of the Creator you possess merges with ours?

Answer: I am ready for that. You can use me however you like.

Internal Сonnection with Great Teachers

165Question: How should we build an internal connection with our great teachers—with Baal HaSulam, Rabash, and with you, and through them with the authors of The Book of Zohar—in order to gradually approach an understanding of what they want to convey to us?

Answer: We must build our unity starting with the types of connections that now exist between us in mutual assistance and mutual connection with each other.

We can reach a state in which we exist as if in one body into which we will begin to receive the spiritual light—the light of The Book of Zohar.

And so we will gradually approach an understanding of what this book wants to tell us.

We need to perceive our teachers as closely as possible, as if they fill us. And the more we strive for them, the closer they will approach us. Eventually we will begin to feel them existing directly within us.

Purity of Thoughts

510.01Question: What is the danger of slander in a Kabbalistic society of people who unite and want to reach the Creator in a small group?

Answer: The purpose of Kabbalah is to lead us to the revelation of the Creator, to equivalence with Him, so that a person adhering to the Creator would urge Him to correct our world, and humanity would ascend to the highest level of its existence.

Therefore, Kabbalah advocates the correct use of the urge to slander, to clarify. I think we have it ahead of us.

Question: There is a state when a student slanders his teacher, in his thoughts, not out loud. How can we deal with this, and what should we do about it?

Answer: This is bad. Verbal expressions or just thoughts of one person, of course, differ from the thoughts of other people nearby. But, in general, if we calculate according to his sensations, his inner feelings are first accounted. And if we are talking about some kind of higher court, a court of justice, of truth, then everything that one thinks of another is revealed, and calculations are performed based on them.

Question: What should one do if one cannot control his negative thoughts toward a friend or a teacher?

Answer: Ask the Creator to guard him and not give him the opportunity to fall into such thoughts and harm.

Get out of Descents

600.02Question: What determines the time spent in descents, and how it be reduced it to a minimum? Maybe you need to find a connection with the Creator not only when you are in an ascent because the Creator is also present in the descents?

Answer: It is from the descent that we need to rise. While in a descent, a person should start reading the sources as soon as possible, praying, singing, doing anything to get out of this state.

Question: Is it necessary to look for the Creator in the descent?

Answer: You will not find Him there.
