Don’t Relax!

945Question: During each lesson, it feels like your intention just covers the entire field, and it is so pleasant to sit, listen, and absorb everything. Is this a good sign? Or does it indicate that I am not doing some kind of work?

Answer: This is something you need to determine for yourself. Do you feel inner tension while processing what you hear from me? Are you in a state where you must absorb it, internalize it, connect with others, and somehow realize it all?

Comment: Yes, there is such tension, but it is not clear how to convey it further.

My Response: But this is a different matter.

I will tell you one thing: you have a serious preparation and serious potential. You can indeed succeed. Don’t relax!

We must present the Creator with such a collective desire with the right intention to compel Him to reveal Himself within us. That is what we must do.

The Hidden Corners of Your Heart

420.06Question: When you studied with Rabash he surely told you: “Do not ask questions. The time will come and you will understand everything yourself.” At the time, did you believe that you could reach spiritual attainment?

Answer: There is a concept of “faith in the sages” where a person has no choice but to trust those who have attained the upper world. You may not believe it and you can go check with others or try to do something yourself; this is your choice.

In our world, you are in a suspended state. The question arises: how will you move forward? With your own intellect? Then you will spend your whole life inventing a perpetual motion machine, going from blow to blow, like everyone else or like various inventors, enthusiasts, and experimenters.

You have no other choice but to trust your heart: what does it suggest and to what should you attach yourself? The world is full of sages, all opposed to each other, and all of them are right and all of them are smarter than you. What can you do? You have only one thing—your heart. Your mind is filled with who knows what! Your heart is also confused!

Therefore, you need to try to feel with the most hidden corners of your heart, with all your inner self, where the truth is and what you need. But at the same time, try to cleanse yourself from all sorts of layers imposed by life and feel from within: where is mine?

Maybe you will find that you need meditation, Scientology, new psychosomatic inventions, or whatever. Or maybe you need to try yourself here in Kabbalah. It is the heart that should show a person his place. Nothing else.

Do not take anyone into account. Our world has already learned that there are no geniuses. You talk to any smart person and after a couple of days, if not the same day and in the same conversation, you begin to understand that all of it is limited, and derived from some sources built on semi-deception, semi-guesses, and and semi-beliefs.

Why trust someone or something that the human mind has invented? You should trust only your heart.

After all, beyond the heart, there are no Kabbalists, no philosophers, no Buddhists, no one; trust what lies in its very depth.

The Language of the Kabbalist Researcher

525Question: Is your Hebrew based on a limited vocabulary?

Answer: Yes, indeed, but no more is needed.

In the last century, there were two great Kabbalistic sages: our great teacher Baal HaSulam and the great Kabbalist Rav Kook. Rav Kook always told Baal HaSulam that he envied his small vocabulary, with which he could convey huge layers of knowledge, sensations, and insights.

Rav Kook himself was, so to speak, the master of the spiritual word, the literary language. His language is very flowery, verbose, complex, and confusing. As long as you read one phrase, a page and a half long, like Leo Tolstoy, you can hardly understand anything. But that’s how he expressed himself. It also depends on the character of the person.

As for me, since at my core I am still a researcher, scientist, and systematiser, I do not tolerate anything superfluous. Therefore, in my speech, in my explanations, I try to make everything concrete.

I believe that this is the most important thing in human education. And feelings already depend on his inner work.

The Process of Transmitting Spiritual Information

276.02Question: You claim that the more a person is connected to the spiritual system, the more information he can transmit through himself to the outside. But is this formula even correct?

For example, there are people who can write beautifully and do something, but they do not carry the spirit of unity. Suppose, they have written something about Kabbalah, but there is nothing of internal connection there. Conversely, suppose there is an actor who has transferred enormous information through himself due to unification.

Answer: This can only be seen by a person himself (if it can really be seen): how he behaves, how he has been positioning himself over many years of spiritual work.

Firstly, whether he criticizes others or whether it does not matter to him at all; whether he pulls students to him or freely releases them, which means that you can come and go at any time; how he exists on his own, and what occupies a greater place in his life: he with his egoism or the teaching itself.

As for people who are not yet in spiritual attainment, there is a problem with them because anyone can speak beautifully. Depending on whether he is a good speaker, you will listen to him, but in the end, you may not take anything. But what difference does it make to us?

A person can understand and realize only what he has already gone through. Therefore, nothing can be said in advance anyway.

I give out a lot of information; some people begin to understand it earlier, and others later. A person somehow adapts himself to this, and suddenly it pops out from within: “Oh! This is actually so.” He heard this maybe a year ago or many years ago; such things do happen. Perhaps in 20 years you will suddenly hear a phrase that you heard today and understand it.

That is, it is useless to tell a person something in advance, to warn him, and to protect him. You just have to wait patiently until he goes through all his states. Until he experiences them, he will not understand what is being said.

Question: What happens if your student, who is engaged in dissemination, transmits something to the outside?

Answer: In this way he then transmits my phrases through himself, and you perceive them. In the same way, our translators and my students broadcast them in all corners of the world. And it does not matter to you whether you receive information through me or through them.

This is just fine. If people learn from me and are attached to me, then, in general, they convey the correct information without realizing it by themselves.

Faithful Shepherd

750.03Question: Suppose one watches recordings of your lessons. How do you differentiate between where you are present and where you are not, and when information is simply transferred through you?

Answer: I am always not present. Who am I after all?! I am an element of the system that does the work it needs to mediate between the upper and the lower levels, and I am in the middle.

That is a function, a position, and nothing more. Therefore, if a person can perform it without introducing any distortion or disturbance, then he is called a “faithful shepherd” (Rohe Ne’eman), like Moses. He was a faithful shepherd because he led his disciples (those who heard him), but in the way the Creator showed him to the next upper level.

The work is to annul yourself as much as possible and place yourself between two levels, upper and lower, to be the ideal connecting link between them. You must reduce and lower what is at the upper level, even at numerous upper levels, to the lower level to which you need to lower yourself.

Question: How can you precisely annul yourself?

Answer: A Kabbalist performs this natural action when he works in the spiritual world. After all, this is the first condition for existing in the spiritual world when you annul your “I,” and at that moment you have no other goal than to adhere to the upper level and fulfill its will.

The Teacher’s Pain

165Question: Every day for many years you have been awakening the hearts of your students. What do you feel when you see that the students you love do not have the importance of the lesson? What do you feel when you see they are absent?

Answer: I feel that I have not done enough.

Question: Does it hurt you?

Answer: On one hand, yes. But on the other hand, I understand that this is what is called the pain of raising children.

Question: What do you do with this pain?

Answer: I continue to work on you.

Question: In Letter 24, Rabash writes from the position of a teacher regarding students, not from the perspective of working between friends. How should we apply this? After all, friends do not see me as a teacher.

Answer: It does not matter. Act the same way.

All the Treasures in the Archive

963.5Question: Are Kabbalistic materials from twenty years ago appropriate for our time?

Answer: We record everything. There are very good materials from those years.

I’m moving with the group. The group is moving forward and no longer needs to chew through the material as it was in those years. Twenty years ago, for the first time, I took the Introduction to the Wisdom of Kabbalah with students: Sefirot, worlds, soul, structure. I chewed it all out for them in a way I can’t do today. I see people in front of me who don’t need to be told this.

Now I have to speak briefly. I express some new, more analytical internal data; synthesize the material from different sides, in different planes, and in a different way, and they already understand this.

That is, the material for beginners is no longer served in the simplicity that it was once taught. On the one hand, this is a big disadvantage. But, on the other hand, there is an archive.

There Is No Patronage in Spirituality

961.2Comment: There must have been dead ends in your life when you probably wanted to give up on everything.

My Response: If I have achieved anything in life, do you think I did not go through what you still have to experience? Do you really think that any stages were cancelled for me due to some kind of patronage that allowed me to bypass them? There is no such thing in spirituality. It exists only in our world, only in animal states.

Question: How critical was your condition? Did you feel terrible despair?

Answer: Yes, especially in Tiberias where we went with my teacher Rabash and stayed there together. I felt he was ready to give everything, and I could not take anything.

I understood that everything depended on me: I had to spread myself and desire spirituality like nothing else in the world. I used to sit on the balcony of our house at night, smoke two packs of cigarettes, and I couldn’t do anything. Nothing! I understood my absolutely hopeless state.

But what could I do? After all, it was hopeless; that is how this state revealed itself to me. But there must be a way out! There is a way out for every soul. What is the solution for me now?

Question: Did Rabash know about this?

Answer: Of course he knew. It could not be that he did not feel.

A person must go through these states! The teacher cannot do anything. You have to go through them, and he is waiting for you to go through them. That is all, just like the Creator is waiting for this.

Manifestation of Perfection

224Question: What is perfection?

Answer: Just as the Creator does not exist in our senses now, so the creation makes itself non-existent in creation. So together the Creator and creation discover themselves in each other, and perfection manifests itself.

You can see that a person takes up little space. You just feel it. He may take up a lot of space in his spiritual influence, but as a person in this world, he does not take up much space.

He does not push, does not rule, does not control life. If you want, you can make an example of him, if you want, you can be next to him, or not. He does not extend himself to you or put pressure on you. But if you want to be in contact with him, do so.

Comment: But at the same time, when you connect with him, he presses.

My Response: But that is already you who connected to him. Why did you do it? To reach a higher level through contact with him. So now you have to yield to him. But this is your will.

Question: Is this what choice is?

Answer: Sure, if you want it.

The Light of Rabash

917.02Question: Was it up to you that you became a famous Kabbalist, or did you just have to come to this?

Answer: This is very difficult to explain. On the one hand, everything depends on the Creator, but on the other hand a lot also depends on a person.

As a rule, when everything has already happened and remains in the past, we say that all this is from the Creator, and the next moment I must say that everything depends on me.

Question: You are the only known Kabbalist today who can convey certain spiritual information. Is this your mission?

Answer: Rabash knew that I would not leave him. It was out of the question. But I went through very difficult, terrible, sharp states of disobedience and objections. Sometimes, I was very uncontrollable. I could not have behaved differently.

Yet, even in those states, I tried to do everything possible for him. I loved my teacher very much, but on the other hand there were moments when I hated him. It is not that I hated him. I just did not understand: “How can this be?!” That is natural.

Question: Rabash knew that you had a different soul. You probably feel the souls of your students in the same way. Among them, are there people with such a soul that must do something in the future? Does this depend on them or…?

Answer: Of course it depends on them and no one else. It did not on Rabash; he gave everything he could. Everything! What I could take at that time, I took from him. What I could not take, he instilled in me potentially, and it manifested later.

He has not been with me for many years, and all these years, what he instilled in me continues to manifest. I feel it. It is only his light. That is how a Kabbalist works.
