People today seem to care about almost nothing. We are indifferent to entire sectors of society that are suffering, unless something directly impacts us on a personal level. We watch the news, get upset and grumble, and that’s the extent of our community involvement. Why is apathy constantly on the rise? We are indifferent because we are increasingly detached from our environment. We lack a sense of belonging, even though such a feeling is as important as the oxygen we breathe. Each of us must realize that our future is inextricably bound with those of others.

As the good connections between us strengthen and deepen, we will begin to feel a special power flowing through our communications network—a force that animates us, magnifies us, and gives us understanding, feeling, thought, and desire at an unprecedented level. Our integration with one another will make us feel a new reality beyond the limitations of our current individual perception.

A person’s basic makeup can be defined as a desire for pleasure and enjoyment, a desire for satisfaction. At each developmental stage, we enjoy different things, and this is true both throughout our individual lives and as a human species in general. Our developmental stage affects our level of social involvement or social indifference. For example, once children felt a natural tendency toward social life; today they are locked inside screens right from the start.

Further, in the past people were proud of their group affiliations like professional guilds and trade unions; they found satisfaction, confidence and power in them. Today, no one has the patience to hear a word about such things and, certainly no desire to belong to any such association. In the workplace, tenure, job security, and stability are things of the past. It has become commonplace for people to have no idea whether they will even have work in a year.

As a result of these and other changes in the relationship between the individual and society, contemporary man does not feel he belongs to anything. If in ancient times people needed social connections for physical survival, today we prize our independence and try to avoid social demands and commitments. We pay the taxes we must and that is the end of the story. As human nature has continued its inner development, a person identifies less with a country or place and has become much more egoistic. As a result, society is now composed of a collection of disconnected elements that are increasingly indifferent to one another.

The only place where one can perhaps see high levels of social engagement is online social platforms. On the web, people are actually very active. Despite beautiful social initiatives here and there, however, what mainly fills the virtual space is cynicism, intolerance, bickering, bullying, and abuse.

What fate is this trend heading us toward? What awaits us in the coming years? The desire to enjoy will continue to develop in every individual, but at the same time, people will no longer find anything that fulfills them. The loss of good connection with society will gradually leave a person feeling like they are suffocating inside their private shell. Today’s indifference will lead to tomorrow’s despair. People will begin to feel that there is nothing to live for. Deep inside the heart will grow a feeling that there is nothing to fill ourselves with, no passion, no challenge, no hope. Nothing but dryness like death.

In a surprise twist at the end, this existential despair will lead to a breakthrough to the next level in the evolution of individual and societal relations. The online virtual world will actually serve as a springboard to a new reality. At the point when we realize we are causing harm by the way we are currently using high tech, we will begin to use it intelligently. We will start to use social media as a tool for shaping society according to an integral worldview based on and promoting reciprocity and complementation. Instead of using it to aid the current compulsion to acquire more and more stuff and to boost material development, humanity will look for ways to use it to help forge real connections between everyone’s hearts.

Smart software will promote the tenet, “love your neighbor as yourself,” as the only formula for life that fits the connected world of the 21st Century. Together we will define the next step in the development of the relationships between us, and then we will work on exercising our muscles of bestowal and support.

As the good connections between us strengthen and deepen, we will begin to feel a special power flowing through our communications network—a force that animates us, magnifies us, and gives us understanding, feeling, thought, and desire at an unprecedented level. Our integration with one another will make us feel a new reality beyond the limitations of our current individual perception. In such a world indifferent society will no longer exist because every individual will feel that he or she receives much more through the association with others—greater fulfillment, satisfaction, and meaning, to the point of boundless joy.

Comment: In Kabbalistic sources, it is written that without the revelation of the Creator, we cannot be equal.

My Response: We will not be ale to do this because we need a common denominator we doing this for. The good of society cannot interest us. Our egoism is beyond that.

Equality is possible only if we unite in our upper root, from which we come. Then, as we reach it, we will understand why we are different. Precisely this difference in the integral sum gives us the feeling of equality.

Comment: Throughout the history of mankind, we have existed in a society where there has been no equality. Even today, the struggle for equal opportunities continues. Women try to become like men and vice versa.

You, as a Kabbalist, say that there can be no equality and humanity itself will never come to it.

My Response: We do not need to strive for mechanical equality. We must act according to the formula of nature, and then we will become equal. Even though we are different, we will be equal.

Question: In your blog, you wrote: “We are not able to tolerate equality, to measure it. It does not exist for us at all. We understand what it means to be above or below others, but where equality begins, we lose sensation. Therefore, the balance is given from above, as the middle line, and comes along with the revelation of some upper force.” What does it mean?

Answer: There is nothing more contrary to our nature than equality because then the individuality of each person is erased. One cannot tolerate it.

There are people who get used to it and enjoy equality, like, for example, soldiers in the army. But at the same time, there must still be some specific goal related to education. Soldiers in the army are just soldiers. They must fulfill their mechanical function, and in this, they move toward a goal that is common for them.

If we talk about the development of society, about how to move forward toward some ideal, then we cannot make sure that all people will be absolutely equal. We are not going to make everyone a soldier because then society would simply freeze and not develop.

Therefore, we must give people the opportunity to show their individuality so that everyone has an equal chance to develop independently and give everything to society.

We are all created differently by nature; there is no need to neutralize, erase, or destroy these differences or consider them bad, unnecessary, or completely useless. On the contrary, we should highlight all the differences between us as much as possible and make them more prominent.

Where should equality be? In making sure that each person does as much as possible at every moment to benefit the whole society.

Comment: But even here we are not equal. You can do more, I can do less.

My Response: But if I do everything within my power and you do everything within yours, then we are equal relative to our unique abilities. You are made this way, I am made that way. So I do as much as I can, and you do as much as you can. One is smart, the other is strong.

Question: And who can determine this?

Answer: No one can. We must be taught to have a correct understanding of nature. Then we will evaluate a person not according to his contribution to society, because some can do more and others can do less in different quantity and quality, but by how much one applies himself given his specific circumstances.

Comment: Nevertheless, a person should have equal opportunities. You talk about upbringing, but not all are the same.

My Response: That is another matter. We should provide everyone not the same but suitable education and upbringing.

From the point of view of nature, a person must be provided with the optimal opportunities he or she needs for correct development in society so that society receives from the person the maximum one can give for its benefit. This is what equal opportunity means.

Question: And who determines what is good for society?

Answer: Society itself and the educational system. It is all depends on education. It should be such that it compels one to feel the need to do everything one can for society. When, ideally, all members of society feel this way, then we can talk about their equality.

My new article on Linkedin “The Nature of Inaugurations and Unity Speeches”

Joe Biden’s inauguration speech was all about unity. He said that his whole soul is in “Bringing America together, uniting our people, and uniting our nation.” The viewers on YouTube were not convinced. An hour later, Biden signed a slew of executive orders that totally reversed Trump’s policies.

Four years ago, Donald Trump’s inauguration speech also called for unity. But as soon as he took office, he started “Draining the swamp,” as he called it. Basically, he did everything he could to undo Obama’s goals and efforts.

You can have an opinion about which policy is better for America or better for the world, but if unity is not at the top of the list, you need to know that you are supporting the wrong policy. The era of dominant ideologies that dictate policies is over. We have become too intertwined the world over to be able to champion one side or one ideology and oppress others. We have become one body. If the left hand is busy tying up the right hand, then both hands can’t function and the whole body cannot work, eat, or do anything at all. But if it is to the contrary, and both hands are free and work together, then there is no limit to what that body can do.

Globalization means mutual dependence. However, it also means mutual support. The former happens naturally, as products and food are produced in multiple countries and production chains become multinational. The latter can only come through conscious and continuous efforts since our natural tendency is to support only ourselves, and it takes realization and acceptance of our interconnections to willingly support one another. Yet, today, only if we support one another can we have a decent life on Earth.

Think of your hands, again. If you need to scratch your head, one hand can do it while the other one does something else that benefits the rest of the body, such as holding a cup of coffee. If the hands quarrel over which of them will scratch and which of them will hold the coffee, we will remain itchy and thirsty indefinitely.

Currently, humanity, and the United States, have bigger problems than coffee and an itchy head. The lives of millions of people are on the line. Covid-19 is raging throughout the US and throughout the world; the global economy is in freefall and worldwide hunger is a real and imminent danger. Bickering over power seats is infantile at such times, yet this is exactly what our leaders are doing, all over the world.

A correct policy today must encompass the entire nation, exclude no one, and forge solidarity and a sense of brothers-in-arms camaraderie. Indeed, we are at war. We are fighting against the virus; we are fighting against hunger, and we are fighting against poverty. But most of all, we are mainly fighting against the hatred that’s exploding among us. This is our real enemy. If we could reverse hatred and realize the benefits that each individual can contribute to humanity, we would realize how senseless it is to hate anyone, how it compromises our own abilities as a society and as individuals, and how it jeopardizes our future.

Unity will not be built by politicians, but rather by regular people. Politics, by definition, aims to divide. If it aimed for unity, there would be no need for so many politicians since everyone would be united. By setting us off against each other, they divide us and make each of us support a different party. As a result, we give them power, and they give us more hatred of each so that we will give them even more power. This is why we should not expect politicians to reconcile the people. We must break this vicious cycle by ourselves, decide that hatred is unwanted here, and start exploring how we can work together to build a more united nation, and a more united world.

My article in Newsmax: “Is Democracy a Figment of Our Imagination?”

Democracy, we know, comes from Greek and it means “the rule of the people.” The current power struggle in America shows one thing very clearly: There is no rule of the people in America. That is, there may have been a rule of the people in America, though a brief one, but when you let the people rule, what you get is tyranny. It does not matter whether the tyranny is portrayed as democratic, pretending to reflect the will of the people, or as it truly is: repressive despotism.

The problem with democracy is not that it’s a bad idea. Freedom, equality, and justice for all are noble notions. Regrettably, they cannot happen. They never happened and they never will until we teach ourselves the values required to even talk about freedom and equality.

Since we’ve never been taught it, we’ve never had a democracy. We’ve had plenty of bogus, manipulative governments who pretended to care for the well-being of the people while actually seeing to the continuation of their own control. And because we’ve never been taught how, or even why we should all be equal and free, we’ve always eventually succumbed to our basic, egotistical nature and tore off the democratic mask from the face of an actual dictatorship.

Simply put, democracies rise and fall because they don’t coincide with human nature. When an unnatural social structure is imposed on society, society eventually rejects it, however noble it may be, and retreats to its savage nature. If you want a truly noble society, which lives by noble principles, first make its people noble and then they will construct a noble society of their own accord, since this will be their nature.

One look at what is happening in America today shows you the level of education for nobleness that Americans have today. It may be painful to accept, but unless we accept the facts, how will we be able to change them?

Look, for example, at what is happening to the First Amendment today. Is there free speech in America? Is everyone encouraged, or even permitted to express what they really think? The public arena is governed by street gangs and online gangs, and anyone who steps out of line is immediately straightened out or silenced. And when you have no freedom of speech, you also have no equality, and therefore no democracy.

If you want to build a genuine democracy, you have to start from the premise that there is more than one opinion. If there is only one opinion, even if it is your own, then you should know that your society is not democratic. Uniformity of opinions should be your first warning sign. No two people have the exact same opinion, and certainly not an entire country. So when only one voice is heard, it is, by default, a non-democratic society.

Once you have two or more opinions, you have to know how to relate to them. You should know people’s views differ because they see reality from different perspectives. However, they are all looking at the same reality, which means that they are all seeing only part of the picture and not all of it.

So every part that you exclude from the pool of perspectives makes everyone’s perspective more deficient, flawed, partial and, therefore, unfit for making the right decisions. Only when all the different views are valued and included in the decision-making process can you reach a result that benefits the entire collective, and which is therefore sustainable. Otherwise, you are bound to create another “democracy,” the kind we’ve seen throughout history, which is here today and gone tomorrow.

For this reason, the rule of thumb in building a sustainable society, established on true freedom and equality for all, is the nurturing of diversity of views, refusal to silence any voice, and building a society that incorporates all those differences, and whose members value the union among them more than they value their own opinions.

Question: How can a woman better support a man in our world? There is an opinion that she should not work at all but should devote herself as much as possible to supporting a man.

Answer: I believe, in the near future, it will be so because we will stop producing an insane amounts of completely unnecessary products.

Life will gradually take on a more balanced state and, therefore, there will be no need for women to work. Even the need for a significant number of men to work will disappear. Everyone will be more engaged in the theory and practice of building correct relationships between themselves as well as between the genders.

All of this will be implemented very quickly and correctly. I do not see any big problems here. The problems are the same for both men and women. Especially in our time. I do not think that men will work more and women’s work will not be needed at all.

There are some professions that are better performed by women. Men, as they say, can rest, that is, they will be released from such duties that they are unable to do as a result of their internal, psychological organization.

Therefore, we are not talking about removing women from all jobs and keeping men only. I think that almost all women can really be spared from working outside of the home but, if necessary, will be involved in it. Men will be involved too to the extent that they are needed in order to produce what is necessary for existence.

The rest of the time will be devoted only to mastering the technique of mutual connection in order to raise all of humanity to the level of the system of the upper world.

Question: So, people were not created to work at all?

Answer: In principle, no. The same goes for the inanimate, vegetative, and animal levels. Strange as it may sound today, they will be fed only with the energy that we people will produce through our correct interactions. We have yet to see this special world.

Question: It would be logical to imagine that virtual communities could help people communicate and in real life, but it turns out to be the opposite. Why?

Answer: Because people are ruled by their egoism. You can do nothing about it. Until we correct it, any methods and forms of communication will harm us.

Question: Some futurists believe that computer games will turn out to provide meaning in life for a useless social class. This is what they call people who have lost their jobs. There may be billions of such people. They will be provided with a basic income and games so that they will not riot. Do you see such a scenario being possible?

Answer: Unfortunately, I do. However, this is not the final form of human development but only an intermediary one. Indeed, this could happen.

Question: Today, a person is in daily contact with so many people that he has never met in his entire life. What opportunity does this give to us? How can one properly use this phenomenon for personal growth?

Answer: I think that today, this phenomenon is hampering our personal growth, and an ordinary person does not have any opportunity to break away from it and grow.

Question: In ancient times, immoral people were kept out of science. Today, there is no connection between the moral principles of a person and his profession at all. Can this situation be improved?

Answer: We need to increase the moral level of a human, otherwise we will be forced to abandon our future because we will destroy ourselves in the end.

There is a convention that bans the production of toxic substances, yet who observes it? We cannot be guided by all kinds of restrictions that we introduce ourselves.

We must raise a person so that he can see that such things in the world work against him. A society that produces poisonous substances ruins itself. A society like this has no future.

Comment: Humility is inherent in people who have advanced in terms of moral self-improvement more than others. They don’t want to lecture other people.

My Response: That’s wrong. This is a reflection of their egoism. They must overcome themselves and publicize their ideas, their foundations, and their philosophy because these are all for the good of society. It does not matter whether a person feels good or bad because of this, whether he feels shy or not. He must do it!

Where is the guarantee that in the society of the future leaders will not take more for themselves than everyone is entitled to and will not destroy all good initiatives like it happened in the Soviet Union?

The future society is an open society in which there is no coercion, no dictatorship from above. Everything is managed only by friends. Therefore it is not possible that the same thing would happen as it did in Russia.

Kabbalists, who understand the processes taking place in society and are credible in the eyes of society, will be at the head of it.

The society of the future will strive to establish the same standard of living for everyone. There is no fear that one will work hard and the other will be lazy. Everyone will work as much as they can give to society and will find the right role for themselves.

In such a society, there will be no need to force people to work because a person will see that by investing in society, he is investing in the upper, future world, in the correction of his soul. Therefore, he will not need encouragement or punishment—he will welcome any opportunity to benefit society, feeling that this benefits himself personally. For him, there will be no difference between him and society.

The goal of the corrected society is to “love your neighbor as yourself.”

There will be no money in the future world, so then how can we measure how much effort a person has invested in society? How can we check this? We will reach a state where we will all feel ourselves inside a common system that connects us, and within it, we will see how much each of us has invested. And accordingly, we will help everyone become even more involved in society in order to rise with it.

Gradually, the system of connections between us, called the Shechina, will be revealed to all of us, and we will need to raise it to the heavens.

Such a society will be built entirely on bestowal, and reception in it will exist only in order to be able to live and bestow. A person will perceive an opportunity to bestow as a reward.
