What Distinguishes The Family Of The Future?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What is the ultimate force of nature, which will operate in the future family? Is it related to religion?

Answer: It is not about religion, but about the fact that we are all connected to each other above our egoism. It is written that the Shechina (divine presence) abides between a husband and wife.

The future of the family lies in the action of the upper force of nature upon it, the force of love, unity, and mutual bestowal. In such a family we will be connected by the ties that are above our animal level.

Due to the family, a person will have more than a warm and cozy family nest where one feels safe and receives help in case of illness and old age. We will build a network of relationships between us, inside of which we will reveal the force of bestowal and love that exists above our nature.

Question: Why are there families which seemingly enjoy full material prosperity, but feel they that they lack family warmth?

Answer: It is for this reason that people divorce. They feel a void that cannot be filled by anything. The family does not have what I want. And what I want, I do not know.

People feel that they need a new form of family ties, but do not know where to look for or how to find them. And thus they get divorced.

The family of the future will have a new connection that leads a married couple to a higher purpose for which it is worthwhile living together. Indeed, if not for this, then what is the point of having a family?

You can buy prepared food in a supermarket, do your laundry in an automatic washing machine, so you can invite a woman over for an evening. Children can be visited once a week, and indeed, we do not see them often because we work so much. What benefits does the family add to our fully arranged, comfortable life?

Question: What is missing in today’s family?

Answer: The family lacks a higher purpose other than conventional, material animal wellbeing. We are required to reveal the human degree in our family in order to discover the Shechina between us, to reveal the upper force, and to have an eternal and perfect life. And it really can be achieved through connection within the family, with other families, and eventually with the whole world.

The upper force is the force of love and bestowal. It is called “upper” because it is above us, above the egoists, who are opposite to it, love only themselves, and do not love others.

Question: What will we feel in the future family that we do not have today?

Answer: We will feel a life without any restrictions and one filled will all flavors. We will need the whole world. Our family will be in such a connection with the other families that we feel confident, joyful, restricted by nothing. Children will grow up in this atmosphere and will be brought up according to it. We must come to this.

Pesach From Different Perspectives

laitman_249-03Question: What is the difference between the Kabbalistic explanation of our world and Pesach (Passover), and the usual explanation we have known since we were children?

Answer: There are several levels that explain reality, existence, creation, development and the goal of man in it. When we speak about Pesach, for example, we can speak about:

  1. The historical period of slavery our nation spent in Egypt.
  2. A person’s enslavement to his ego in Egypt, to his Pharaoh.
  3. The development of the created being, of the desire, under the influence of the Light, the Creator, and under the influence of darkness, Egypt, and Pharaoh.

At the same time we can speak about different levels:

  1. The technical fulfillment of the rituals that in our language are called Mitzvot (commandments),
  2. The psychological fulfillment of the commandment of “love thy friend as thyself,” as the general commandment and order of the Creator, which includes all the other commandments and orders as it says in the Torah: Love thy friend as thyself is the great rule of the Torah,
  3. The Kabbalistic influence of the Upper Light on the worlds and through them on the souls that undergo different phases of development and their spiritual correction.

“Your Springs Shall Spread Outwards”

laitman_214Question: I want to ask you a question that has probably been asked many times, when will the Messiah come?

Answer: From a letter of Baal Shem Tov, “Keter Shem Tov”: “When I ascended there it is impossible to tell and to speak even face to face, until I entered the hall of the Messiah where the Messiah studies with all the Tanaim and the righteous and also with seven shepherds. And I asked the Messiah’s mouth, when are you coming?

“And he answered, you shall know when your study becomes famous and revealed throughout the world and your springs shall spread outwards; everything that I have taught you and that you have attained. And they will also be able to perform uniqueness and ascents like you and all the Klipot, shells (the ego) will be annihilated and it will be time of Heavenly mercy and redemption.”

What Does It Mean To Hear The Mitzvot?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: I heard that many Orthodox Jews have their hearing checked before Purim so that they can be sure that they hear the Mitzva (commandment) “remember what Amalek did to you…”

As far as I understand it is a totally new interpretation of the observation of the Mitzva. What do you have to say about it?

Answer: Because in our world a person is made of a body and a desire, he can fulfill what is required of him either physically or in his heart (desire). There is another way of observing it by the soul, by the intention of bestowal, Lishma, for its sake, but it is accessible only to those who seriously study the wisdom of Kabbalah guided by a teacher.

In any case, the more carefully a person observes this Mitzva and hears it through his ears or his heart, the more he feels that he is righteous… The wisdom of Kabbalah, on the other hand, calls a person to attain a level that is higher than the ear or the heart (both of which are in the ego). It speaks about ascent above the ego, above the intention of for my own sake, to the intention of not for my own sake (Lishma).

Acting As If I Love

laitman_938_02Question: I don’t have any positive feelings towards the group and the friends since it is merely pretense, a lie! What should I do?

Answer: It certainly is pretense and a lie. After all we are all initially only in our nature of “to receive” and this is what determines our actions. There are people, especially politicians who can pretend and act as if they worry about others, but a person who cannot stand lies cannot act as if he is “good.” He expresses what he actually feels.

The wisdom of Kabbalah, however, doesn’t call it a lie but acting! You should act as someone who loves, and only with regard to the friends, and don’t lie to them but to yourself in order to reach the goal, in order to set an example so that the friends will also act as kind and loving before you. As a result, the habit of acting becomes second nature in both directions, despite the fictitious behavior because a person begins to draw the Returning Light.

Times Earthly And Spiritual

laitman_281_02Question: I sent you a table covering the time of Queen Esther. I would like to know your opinion on the correctness of these dates.

Answer: There are almost no dates of certain events in the Kabbalistic sources. Otherwise, we would not have doubts and would have something to rely on.

The fact is that the sages do not tie themselves to earthly dates, and everything that happens in Kabbalah refers to the spiritual world, that is, a person’s inner world. Therefore, I was never interested in historical facts and dates and have not seen them in Kabbalistic books.

A Straight Road For Us And The Entire World

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What forced the children of Israel to receive the Torah at Mt. Sinai?

Answer: It was the troubles, the problems, and the sufferings. What else can be an incentive if you are within your egoistic desire?

However, there are different sufferings: those that come from the world around you and those that you evoke internally. One way or the other, we cannot advance without troubles, and the question is only whether they are sent to you externally or if you evoke them internally by studying, in thoughts, in understanding and recognition. As it is written: “Who is wise? One who sees the future.” If you act by yourself, it is sufficient to develop by the path of “I will hasten it,” without waiting for troubles to push you forward. They also force us to hasten time, but there is a great difference.

If I am wise, I advance straight toward the goal. If I am not, I stop on the way, and then troubles make me move. I escape them, and then I go straight to the goal anyway. However, by that, I prolong the path. Instead of taking the short, easy way, I follow the long, hard way.

One way or another, I eventually reach the same thing. So, to help me choose the short way from the start, I must listen to Kabbalists who tell us about the method of correction. My success depends on whether I listen to them or not.

Question: How can we hear them and pass on this message to the people of Israel?

Answer: There must be a recognition of the greatness of the group, the teacher, and the Creator in order to make the goal seem important to you. As for the people of Israel, everything depends on us.

We are the ones who have freewill. We can sharpen our senses through working in the group and by the efforts we must make. We know what it is about so we hear what we are told while others cannot hear it yet.

They have to receive it from us. They will be able to join us passively after we disseminate the message.

Question: How will they see the straight road, the red line in the drawing?

Answer: They will follow us. We will advance with them as Galgalta ve Eynaim (GE) and AHP. After all, we can advance by only a few steps along the red line to the extent that we acquire the system.

At every stage, we must fulfill it before we rise to the next level. Therefore, it is impossible to advance without the vessels of AHP. We simply don’t understand how dependent we are on them.

AHP is all the “nations of the world” and Israel is only Galgalta ve Eynaim (GE), the first nine vessels of bestowal that come from the Creator: Keter, Hochma, and GAR of Bina. On the whole, the vessels of GAR are part of Godliness from above, although this part is shattered.

In Israel, there is nothing, and they cannot advance and cannot arrange the connection with the Creator without the vessels of receiving, those that should be corrected and brought to adhesion. However, they cannot do that by themselves, so the shattering occurred, and, as a result, the vessels of Israel and of the “nations of the world” were mixed and incorporated.

Now, there is part of AHP above and part of GE below. This allows them to arrange the connection between them, which otherwise would be impossible.

It first happened during the destruction of the First Temple (at the level of Mochin de Haya) when the ten tribes were dispersed among the nations and disappeared. The second time the connection was established was during the destruction of the Second Temple (at the level of Mochin de Neshama) when the two tribes that were left dispersed.

The first time, we lost the parts that belong to real AHP. It was a descent from the level of Hochma to the level of Bina. In the second case, the two tribes didn’t disappear; they only were in exile.

Eventually, thanks to the mixing, a connection was formed, an incorporation of GE and AHP, and now we can begin to “feel” these strings. The vessels of GE that fell into AHP became religions.

The same happened in the Israeli nation: AHP that rose to GE was expressed in Judaism. In other words, instead of spirituality, a person imagines corporeality, and instead of “love thy friend as thyself,” he performs different physical actions, not internally in his desire, but externally in matter. However, eventually, thanks to the incorporation, we can be corrected.

Questions and Answers with Dr. Laitman

[media 1] [media 2]

Questions And Answers

  1. I must always remember that evil is the force from the Creator, for “There is none else besides Him.” How should I treat evil? Evil was given to me for correction, so it can be turned into good.
  2. When does evil become good? It does so when I correlate evil to the Creator.
  3. How can one unveil evil becoming good? Light enters the desires between which there is no screen (connection, common intention, and mutual guarantee), and so the Light’s good turns evil (egoism) into good, which fills the “space” between us. Along with our efforts attracting OM (Ohr Makif, the Correcting Light), we summon evil (egoism, Pharaoh, the opposite side of the Creator) that turns into good (bestowal, love, revelation of the Creator).
  4. How do we attribute all of our work to the Creator? Everything comes from the Creator. Exile is where the Creator hides from a person; work-in-exile is the revelation of the Creator, and exiting the exile means revealing that “There is none else besides Him.”
  5. What is the cause for burdening of the spiritual mood? The fact that a person forgets that one receives everything from the Creator! And as soon as one remembers it, then it is immediately determined how to relate and to respond to this state designed by the Creator.
