What Is The Purpose of Asking Questions?

631.3Question: What is the point of listening to someone asking you a question? What is the purpose of asking questions anyway?

Answer: It is written, “The timid cannot learn.” Questions should be asked, but at the same time, you should follow the answers and delve into them until they are completely clear, i.e., until they enter you. By listening to a friend, you connect with him in his desire toward a goal, which is important for unification in a group.

After all, your desire alone is never enough to achieve the goal and for Ohr Makif to evoke a new intention in desire for the sake of others. It was only for the sake of this connection with others that the worlds appeared, that Adam’s soul was created and shattered, that this world was created so lowly to create a place of freewill for man, which is the only thing we do, and this freedom of will is realized only in an attempt to absorb the desires and goals of our friends throughout the world group.

In the same way, all of humanity will be forced to solve its common problem. The crisis and the revelation of mutual hatred will be revealed as the cause of the threat of destruction of an empty, worthless, yet unique and therefore precious, life. They will begin to listen to questions, i.e., the desires of others, until they all unite in one question “What is the meaning of our existence?” (Introduction to The Study of the Ten Sefirot) and will come to Kabbalah!

Question: You often say that spirituality is beyond time, motion, and space. What do you mean?

Answer: You need to clarify this. There is nothing you can do, you must study. Those who wish to evade it with questions do not understand that only studying the writings of Baal HaSulam (in any language) attracts the upper light of correction. While the questions and answers are only a prelude for beginners. Clarify this in The Study of the Ten Sefirot, “Inner Observations” or at least go through this entire blog. Perhaps this form of learning is more suitable for you now.

Don’t Regret the Past

202In Kabbalah, there is essentially no such thing as past or future, only the present.

Question: Do you ever regret something from the past? Does a memory ever flash something before you that makes you flinch?

Answer: Everything has passed.

Comment: So this conversation we are having right now, this is this life. And everything that was and everything that will be no longer matters?

My Response: None of it depends on us in any way.

Comment: Teach me to live like that. I can say that, but a moment later, I will be tested, and I will be weak.

Answer: No, I am not worried about the past. Although if I were to count how much time I have wasted and on what, well, of course.

Comment: It is a a lot.

My Response: But that is how it must be. Agree that everything is done by the Creator, and when it comes to the past, that is especially true! You fully support Him, trust Him, and accept it.

Comment: And yet, about the future. Everyone dreams of the future, everyone hopes for something that will come. That cannot be taken away from a person.

My Response: You see, if you think about the future, you are taking it away from the Creator. That is not allowed either.

Question: Is that also His prerogative?

Answer: That too, yes.

Question: So if I define this formula for myself, then what?

Answer: In that very moment, I am connected with the Creator, merge with Him, cleave to Him, and I want nothing else, like a child clings to its mother, that is what he wants, that is all! That is how we should be.

Comment: So the essence of this formula is to cling to the Creator?

My Response: Yes.

Question: The past is His, the future is His. But this present moment, is it mine? Do I still exist here?

Answer: I exist. In the present, there is “I.” And only I determine that I want to be with the Creator, to hang onto Him.

Question: Right now?

Answer: Yes, that is all. There is nothing else. Nothing.

Do You Want to Interfere in the Governance of the Creator?

962.2Question: Why is fear given to a person?

Answer: So that he will correct something—his attitude toward life and death.

Question: What should it transform into? If it is given from above, what should this fear flow into?

Answer: It should flow into absolute submission to the will of the almighty, the Creator, and in understanding that he still has something to do in those moments, and there may still be a great many of them until he truly completes his earthly path.

Question: So in principle, a person must do something one way or another? What must he do?

Answer: He must calm down. What else is there to do? Nothing else.

Comment: I do not even know what to add here.

My Response: There is no need to add anything. That is what a person must do. Is he really planning to do something in this world? How will the world continue without him? What will he leave behind for the world?

Question: That phrase: “calm down.” Once you said that the Creator is at rest, and a person must come to the same rest.

My Response: Yes.

Question: Then can you give us a definition of rest?

Answer: Rest is when the next moment does not bother you. Absolutely does not trouble you! You have no worries; not that you live in it. If you live in it, then it does not trouble you because you live in it. But simply, It does not bother you. That is what you need to reach.

Question: Then am I living in this moment? Or you do not want that to be pronounced?

Answer: This moment does not exist either. You should not think that you exist at all.

Question: So I just float along a river, and that is what I do?

Answer: That is also an attitude toward life and not a good one. “Raise the oars” and “float along”—that is not good either.

Question: This point is not very clear to me.

My Response: It is not clear to anyone. This is precisely the point where we attain absolute rest.

Another way to put it is that I rely on the Creator’s governance. He governs everything, including me, every moment of my existence, and in fact the entire universe and everyone in it. So I have nothing to worry about. Do I want to interfere in His correction, in His governance, in His control over all this? No.

If not, then sit quietly and go on with your life.

It is that there will be no difference between your existence now and after you decide in what way you should exist.

Question: Is that the point of rest?

Answer: Yes, it speaks of agreement. It speaks of the fact that you agree with the Creator. And this is not simple. After all, we always want to grab Him by the hand, check what He is planning, and argue that perhaps it should be done a little differently.

Question: And here we do not need to grab anyone? Just like that, and that is all?

Answer: Let it go.

Creativity in Kabbalah

626Question: Everyone has their own abilities: someone is a designer, someone is an artist, someone else writes well. How do you discover these qualities in yourself?

Answer: If you work properly on developing the quality of giving, inclusion in others, which will help you develop a sense of absolutely complete interaction with the whole world, then you will see very clear tips on how to realize your abilities. They will definitely open up in you, and exactly in the way that you can use them to promote yourself.

For example, I teach, draw, write, and depict in a certain way; this is how I express myself. You express yourself in a different way, and someone else expresses themselves in a different way.

Question: But will it complement the overall system of understanding?

Answer: If it comes from the soul, it will definitely complement it, since all souls are a common system. Therefore, the more you express yourself through your soul, the more you are an integral part of the common soul, Adam.

Question: Does an outside person feel it more when it comes from the general system?

Answer: Yes. Therefore, in accordance with a person’s ability to work on himself in an anti-egoistic way, it is necessary to let him develop, that is, to manifest himself in art, literature, painting or in cinema, photography, video, even in leadership; this is also a type of creative activity. But at the same time, you need to make sure that it is not at the level of selfishness, but above it.

Question: How can you determine this?

Answer: It depends on what is important to a person in the first place: to move forward or develop in art, to move up or to lead.

Comment: But sometimes it can overwhelm a person so much that he thinks he’s doing it for a purpose…

My Response: There is an environment for this, a leader who can protect him and not let him fall.

Comment: In Kabbalah, a person, in principle, must work against his will, take on some kind of work that he does through force. But in this case, it just won’t work. Let’s say a person has the ability to write, but they give him something to chop in the kitchen.

My Response: He’s going to write anyway, and he’s not going anywhere. He still has to express himself. The soul is eternal and will break through itself. Life is the greatest force that will always find some kind of loophole and manifest itself.

Comment: You know how strong a person’s selfishness can be.…

My Response: No! It doesn’t matter! All the same, development and evolution are moving toward the fact that the soul will manifest above the body, because this is the highest source. Our body is just a small animal part. This gradually manifests itself over the course of evolution. Animals don’t evolve, but humans do.

The “man in us” grows from generation to generation and gradually comes to the point where his human part grows out of this animal man more and more. And now it is undergoing a revolutionary transformation, a leap. A spiritual component begins to manifest itself in us, which is higher than this life. On the one hand, this life becomes visible as a global catastrophe, and at the same time we have the opportunity to reveal the spiritual part of ourselves. This is our generation.

Where Is the Train Going?

294.2Comment: We must bring Kabbalah to people without frightening them.

My Response: I’m not frightening them. I’m offering medicine for their fears, only I’m offering it not so that they would stay in this life and sweeten it a little, but to rise to a level where they would be eternal, perfect, infinite. Of course, it sounds cool and unclear, but deep down every person basically wants only this.

Comment: It’s clear that the one who is meant to come to Kabbalah will come, his inner part will open. And the one who isn’t meant to…

My Response: Even the one who isn’t meant will still want to come, because this life is becoming very frightening. Frightening! Just wait a little. Here there will be an oil spill, there will be a volcano, another tsunami, a couple more fires. Let’s live until winter and you’ll see what kind of winter it will be, maybe minus fifty degrees. That is worse than plus forty in summer.

So everything is still ahead. I’m not threatening, on the contrary I want us to go on a fast, good path, because for your child you always want him to grow wiser, not make foolish mistakes and to have things go well, not so you have to punish him.

Question: But in fact, a blow comes, a person feels depressed, unwell. Do you really think some part in him will open, or that some process will happen in him?

Answer: If you get hit a couple of times, you will agree to anything! You don’t have your own “I.” Our “I” is not ours. We are all little animals. The “I” can be suppressed any way, and you will agree to anything.

Even now you subconsciously act according to your animal state. You have no personal philosophy, no ideology, you don’t stand on anything. There is no such notion in our world. We all proceed from our egoism; it dictates to us what to hold onto, what to value. That is all.

Who is a person in this world anyway? A small programmed egoistic creature with nothing of his own. A puppet on strings pulled from above, with no freewill. So why even reason about it?

Question: And the process? What happens to the person after the blow? What is transformed?

Answer: This puppet starts to twitch a little. Then he gets the chance to hear how to get rid of suffering.

Question: And how will he hear among the general mass of information around him?

Answer: Maybe he will have to go to India for twenty years and come back empty. And the next generation won’t go at all. For now, nothing can be done.

Question: So it’s not a stage of one single blow?

Answer: No, humanity must come to awareness on its own, otherwise you will lead it by force. This unprocessed stage must work itself through. It is like a rocket: the first stage burns out, the second ignites, then the third, and so on.

People must see the emptiness in philosophies, in sciences, in religions, and in everything else. They must uncover this emptiness, see in all of it only earthly culture, and to that extent use it reasonably. But it will give them only registration in the train in which they are riding. And where is the train going? That is for them to find out.

Arthouse, Dostoevsky, Diamonds…

511.01Question: There are different categories of cinema. Arthouse is experimental cinema. There are more serious films, there is Hollywood, and everyone positions themselves as something important. I used to be fascinated by arthouse. But now I cannot even watch these films because essentially they are flat experiences, like you said about Dostoevsky, that a man killed an old woman and writes about it. In fact, there is no benefit in this at all. What does it actually give a person?

Answer: The problem is that there is no clear benchmark that a person can measure themselves against.

For example, Dostoevsky has wonderful statements about love on one hand, and on the other hand, such hatred. He does not know how to position himself.

That is, people lack an absolute reference point, a standard. And that makes it very difficult.

And that art that you are talking about, various experimental films and whatever else, is all endless chatter because there is no clear basis in human nature, nothing from which to measure ourselves.

As a result, all of this is doomed to neglect by the person who begins to rise above the level of animal existence. These are intelligent, searching people, but they are confused. Everything is fine except for one thing: there is nothing against which to measure themselves, no absolute point.

Therefore they cannot create any image that will remain for eternity, despite what has been written. After all, if it is a depiction of a person’s inner world without the correct measurement in relation to the Creator, it gives nothing. So it all remains the same—he killed an old woman and nothing more.

That is why art is dying, that is why people begin to neglect all the great works that humanity has created over the millennia. Only a few naïve intellectuals remain who value this.

Everything will die out, except perhaps music, because in a musical piece each person can somehow express themselves. But literature or painting, or something else…

Painting still has some kind of future because there is a false convention about its value, since there is nowhere else to put capital. Rembrandt, let us say, is worth a million dollars, Rubens—five hundred thousand, another one—such and such, and so on. Their paintings will remain as currency. This is how painting will be valued, and nothing more.

And why are diamonds valued? The fact is that in the world there are many diamond deposits that are prohibited from being mined, otherwise their price would collapse, and then people would be left with nothing. But this way, let us say, I have a little stone in my safe, worth, say, 30 or 100 million. But if you suddenly throw a couple of kilos of diamonds onto the market, the price of my stone will automatically fall tenfold. I will not let you do that! So the value of all these things is relative.

But classical music will remain because it conveys all human feelings, and in it one can express absolutely anything. Its harmony corresponds to the structure of the soul. Painting will remain because it is like securities. And literature will not remain at all.

Question: Then what use is literature at all? The classics, Tolstoy, Pushkin?

Answer: Who will read that?! I am sure that even now it is no longer read. Does the younger generation read these books?! No.

Perhaps there are abridged versions of the classics, where all of Tolstoy is presented in fifty pages. Well, who today will sit down and read War and Peace? Who has time for that? Can it replace today’s Internet with all its possibilities for a young person? It is a completely different world! And young people cannot be blamed for that.

Force of Habit

423.02Comment: If a person understood what a vile, disgusting, limited world one lives in, the person would look at many things in a completely different way.

My Response: But we know how people get used to living in concentration camps, labor camps, in penal colonies, everywhere.

I had a friend who left the penal colony and stayed in the village next to it. I was surprised! And he said: “It is nice here. What else do I need?” This was in comparison to Leningrad, which had a good food supply, culture, everything!

A habit! A person does not need anything else. Moreover, there are simple relationships in penal colonies, everything is clear and straightforward: who you are and who I am. The whole setup is much simpler.

Comment: Yes, a person immerses himself in the familiar world he lives in anyway.

My Response: This is a terrible thing! We constantly perceive our surroundings this way, we perceive only pleases us, what we need, what suits our upbringing, and what suits our inner state. That is all we see!

But we are in a world of infinity! An incredible amount of depth, phenomena, forces, and actions revolve between us and around us! We do not notice any of this because we do not want to. We only notice what we are pre-programmed for, what we are used to. Everything else is subconsciously eliminated. This is how we are created. Habit is a terrible thing that affects our consciousness!

Question: You describe the states one experiences after moving to another facet of reality in a very colorful way. However, is aiming to develop a desire for it enough, in addition to studying and everything else? If a person really wants to, will he be able to move to a higher dimension?

Answer: No a desire is not enough because our desire is egoistic; we must transform it into another one that is altruistic.

One cannot feel the upper world in his egoistic desire. “But I want it!” No you do not want it; you want something else you imagine as the upper world. You cannot want it now because it is all about giving, loving others, and coming out of yourself. You do not have such desires! So do not lie about wanting it.

What Is Love after All?

228Question: There are many songs created about love, and many wonderful romance novels written throughout the history of humanity. On the other hand, love has led to a great number of tragedies and wars. So much has been said about love. Perhaps it is a person’s  most sublime feeling. What is love?

Answer: Love is a special attitude of a person to someone or something. I love the sea, music, pleasant smells, etc. This is also called that I love.

Why do I love? Because it gives me pleasure. I enjoy the sea, the music, the smells, the skies. I love what gives me pleasure. Conversely, I hate what causes me suffering or problems. This is how love or hate that arises to people and animals.

It is “egoistic love” when I love something that gives me pleasure and hate what causes me suffering. We are like animals; we love what is good for us and move away from things that are bad for us. This is called love. Meaning, it is not love toward some object, but rather love for what it awakens within me.

For example, I run into a friend and he tells me that he has divorced. “What has happened?!” “Love has gone.” It means that love exists up to the moment where we can receive pleasure from one another. Even today doctors say that love between partners disappears in 2 to 3 years.

This is not the love that the wisdom of Kabbalah is talking about. The wisdom of Kabbalah talks about love as something that is above a person’s ego, which enjoys using someone or something. Love is something we build on two levels.

There is a level of relationship between us which may involve arguments and even hate, i.e., disagreement with one another. At the same time, above these disagreements, we build a special connection called “love.”

We work a lot on this, make efforts, and invest time building it. This is called “love will cover all transgressions.” It means that we build love precisely above transgressions, above disagreements that exist between us.

Only in this way can two people connect one with the other so their mutual connection would be good, strong, healthy, and truly human. This connection is between people who understand that they are egoists and that again tomorrow they can have a dispute but they will still continue working to make their connection beautiful and kind, and it is called “love.”

This is not love that is built on sexual attraction, habit, or something that is good for me today but tomorrow may be the opposite.

On the contrary, it is love between people: a man and a woman, children, within a nation, or within a group of people. But with all this we do not treat each other based on receiving pleasure one from another, where I receive pleasure from the other one and therefore I love. After all, this would be the animal level.

At the human level we create connections of love between us above everything that we receive one from another—pleasures or the opposite—up to the point that I can hate the other for his habits that I do not like. Still I have to love him, for example, for the reason that we belong to the same nation.

Then we will work on how we can also become closer one to another in the habits at the level of this world—physical, national, and so forth.

In other words, love is the highest value in relationship between people who are going to connect with each other since they are obliged to be tied and they chose this connection. Then they constantly work on this.

Therefore it is said that “love will cover all transgressions.” There are “transgressions” between us, various disagreements, and above them we are constantly building love. Even more, the more disagreements, the stronger love should be above them.

This is the way we have to educate people. Then we will be able to come to the state where we will be able to open an umbrella of love above the entire world, above all of humanity. This is precisely what love is. Otherwise, it is just a physiological love where you love something that is good for your body; this is love of animals, whereas human love is built above all that makes me unhappy about the other one. There is some reason, a higher value, that obliges me to be in connection with the other one.

We both understand that at the regular level we have all kinds of disagreements with regard to the country, life, and everything else, but in any case we come to the decision that we have to be connected despite that we are different and our structure is different.

We build this connection, our love, slowly, step by step, based on our superior goal which we together have to reach in connection between us and above our physical bodies.

Shorten the Time of Our Maturity

760.4Question: You say that Kabbalah influences fate. For example, an actor who plays a role in some film is influenced by the role he played. He seems to live the life of that character.

What if we take the method where you must go through all your reincarnations, clothing yourself in this theatrical role, quickly living through your states? Let’s say first you were a prince, then a beggar, then someone else. After all, for the future each soul has its own specific informational records that it must pass through. So instead of living a whole life, can one pass through it in this theatrical way?

Answer: No, that is absolutely unnecessary! Why should one go through reincarnations in some artificial way?

We are all repeat students, held back year after year, who in the end will graduate externally, quickly and simply. You just take it and in one year you pass through all ten grades, instead of sitting several years in each. This is what the wisdom of Kabbalah offers.

Suddenly such possibilities open before you that it becomes no problem at all, and the whole world is like an open map before you. You calmly pass through everything, easily, pleasantly, like on a picnic.

We can shorten the time of our maturity, as in an incubator: one-two and that’s it instead of following the natural long and suffering path.

Kabbalah Does Not Subjugate a Person

249.02Comment: When a person gets into a certain society, he is influenced by that environment. Suppose he got into the society of “Brahma Kumaris” or somewhere else, and began to truly perceive: “Yes, there is God there.” When people come to study Kabbalah, you also present certain information, and this brainwashes a person.

My Response: No! Because Kabbalah is against his egoism, against one’s nature! With it, I do not subordinate a person to myself. I place him against me.

Pay attention, although you respect me and consider me a smart person, you do not agree with me, you are not under me, because I am giving you information that is against you.

You can agree with me only if you annul yourself, if you acknowledge that you are nothing and nobody. This is your inner struggle.

That is why Kabbalah is the only method that does not subjugate a person. It is not a religion, and it is not some other methods.

I only teach and give information, but how to realize it in you, that is your problem, and a very difficult one, because you can resolve it only by fighting with yourself. Therefore, you will never obey me. You will always be against me, and if you will be able to agree with me, it will be only above your reason.
