Answer: It is possible to treat us kindly, but we do not understand. And therefore, it is necessary for the Creator in His attitude of absolute goodness toward us to forcefully, gradually introduce into His quality of absolute goodness the quality of suffering, the feeling of lack; otherwise, we do not react.

Question: There is such an expression, “Attract with kindness and push away with suffering.” You say that “attract with goodness” is not enough? Which means, we do not hear this attraction with goodness?

Answer: We do not feel it. Every day, from morning to evening, every second, we have opportunities to treat each other with kindness: to connect, unite, and try to feel a good force between us which will eventually accumulate and manifest itself as the upper force, as a quality of kindness and love.

But we do not hear it. Maybe we connect for a minute and that is it. Then we disconnect from that and again jump into all sorts of quarrels between us.

Question: And that is why you say that actions of the Creator are only to enforce?

Answer: No. He acts all the same with kindness. But in this goodness, some actions manifest themselves more and they seem to us harsh, bitter, and so on.

Question: And what is it in us that turns these acts of goodness into apparent suffering? It seems that goodness is aimed at you, but you are suffering. What is it that we have in us?

Answer: Our egoism! The Creator wants to show us every second how the egoistic quality pushes us apart and away from each other and leads to all kinds of regrets and suffering. This is clear from every second of our existence.

In general, it is terrible when you see it!

Question: So, until He gets us to the point where we see it, it will not stop?

Answer: No, of course not. We must see this evil in us and everything will immediately start to turn around.

Question: We will want to get out of it, feel this good that is directed at us after all?

Answer: You have to imagine it even before you see it. You do not have to see anything! Imagine everything that is said, and this will be enough to break away from egoism.

Question: Imagine that only a flow of good comes to us?

When our connection adapts with the goal of doing no harm to anyone, and acting solely for everybody’s benefit, then the positive force dwelling in nature will reveal itself in such a bond.

Everybody should learn that humanity’s next evolutionary stage is to discover nature’s positive force of connection, and that the more we can adapt our connections to it, the more we will feel our lives become filled with a much greater kind of fulfillment, harmony and tranquility. We have evolved toward this major evolutionary stage for hundreds of thousands of years, and today we are positioned on a fateful transition point: either we fail to learn about how to adapt our relations to nature’s positive force of connection, and feel increasing darkness, crisis and troubles enter our lives, or we learn about how to adapt to nature’s positive force, draw that force into our lives, and experience a newfound life of fulfillment, harmony and peace.

My Response: These are laws, and there is nothing one can do about it. If a person comes to kill you, then you must kill him first. There is no choice here.

Question: When does the second law apply, the one you are talking about, the main one, that “evil must be covered with love“?

Answer: Love your neighbor as yourself.

Question: How does it all connect?

Answer: It does not connect. If someone wants to kill you, there is no other choice. Which means, you have to kill him first.

Question: What should my attitude be to the fact that he came to kill me? Like to evil that came to me?

Answer: Yes, as to a person who comes to kill you, and you have to kill him so that this evil will not be manifested in the world anymore.

Question: When does this law “to cover evil with love” arise?

Answer: This is not about killing. We are talking about the fact that one shows evil to the other. Therefore, the other one has to show him an example that is opposite of this.

My Response: Laitman may know the answer, but why do we need to know the answer? We need to reach a state where all the tribes will begin to manifest in our world so that we would find out who they are, and so that all humanity could join these 12 tribes, and thus we would reach universal correction.

Comment: If we follow the order, it turns out like this: there were 12 tribes of Israel, then 10 tribes, let’s say, disappeared, dissolved into the world, and two tribes remained. As we know, they built the Second Temple and then they went into exile.

My Response: Yes, they have dispersed somewhere there. Something remained, and this is us today.

Question: Where did these 10 tribes disappear to, as if dissolved into nowhere? They entered the world and disappeared. Where are they, who are they, for what and why did the Creator do this?

Answer: To plant seeds, embryos of the quality of bestowal and love in the general mass of humanity. They carried these seeds into the world and gradually worked there for thousands of years. And nowadays they are beginning to sprout.

After all, the fact that we are connecting with each other, as humanity on this planet, is also for a reason. This is a manifestation of the qualities of bestowal, the qualities of love, and the qualities of connection, which come only from these original qualities of the tribes.

Question: That is, the Creator deliberately launched these 10 tribes into the world. What is this magnet that will start pulling them out now in our time?

Answer: The quality of the Creator begins to be revealed in our world. On one hand this is like the recognition of the evil of our nature. On the other hand, this is a direct desire between people for cooperation due to the fact that only in this way can they save themselves, develop, and so on.

The Creator is as if coming closer to the world. This is the magnet that will gradually begin to pull humanity to the understanding that it is necessary to rise above all problems in the connection above ourselves and that only the connection between us saves us and will save the world, and that it is benevolent.

This is the action of the 10 lost tribes. The most important thing is connection, mutual connection.

Everything comes from Joseph and his brothers, who started fighting with each other. They went down to Egypt, and all these problems began. There were dreadful wars between them in Egypt!

This is terrible! There was enormous hatred in all generations between them, so that egoistic evil would eventually be revealed. It existed especially between the Jews so that they would begin to exit Egypt.

My Response: I think that this will not happen in the form of some great migration. No.

It will be a great ascent of all nations, in different measures, to varying degrees, in order to reach the upper revelation, insight, and to feel the upper force in the connection with each other.

This is how the Creator calls us to reveal Him, pulls us to Himself in this way and awakens such desires in us.

Question: Is this call already sounding now?

Answer: I think so. At least, I feel how it awakens in people’s desire for knowledge, for the revelation of the Creator, for attainment. This should be manifested very quickly.

If not, then accordingly there will be great suffering. And it will push us forward. It is better not through suffering, but through yearning.

Question: How does light affect a person?

Answer: In different ways. It all depends on what state a person is in: either he is in an ascent or moving away from it.

In a person, his internal states, Reshimot, are constantly changing. If the light is influencing him, then naturally these states are quickly realized in the direction in which the Reshimot are directed at this time.

Light is the energy that influences a person that directs him to the purpose of creation, to complete connection with all parts of creation: inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human. This connection already reveals within itself the force of connection called “the Creator.”

Question: When a child is growing up, he is influenced by light, and under its influence he develops. What is the difference between this development and the Kabbalistic one?

Answer: The fact is that the child does not know how he develops. It happens instinctively. Reshimot, that is, the informational genes of his physical development are constantly revealed outward along the chain, one after another, and light at this time influences him.

That is, the light is constant, and the genes are changing all the time. The child grows under the influence of constant light as if he receives continuous nutrition. Since more and more “adult,” large, composite genes emerge, this is what guarantees his development.

Michael Laitman, On Quora: “How do you resolve opinion differences?“

We need to attribute our differences in opinion to the higher force that brings us together. It leads us into conflict with one another so that we feel a need for a correction, to bring ourselves to a happy middle.

What is the happy middle? It is that above the contradicting emotions and opinions, we wish to bring ourselves to a state of complementarity and completion.

We are currently in a state where our ego, i.e. our desire to enjoy at the expense of others, is the very essence of our every quality and trait. We constantly desire, think, intend and act with an aim of benefiting our personal ego. The ego thus controls that human part in us and we are enslaved to it. There might be nothing good about this situation, but we still go through the motions because nature forces us to.

The more we wake up to the extent in which the ego is behind our actions, then the more we will discover how phony and egoistic we are, how we distort everything in the direction of benefiting ourselves alone, and not in the direction of the truth. Likewise, the more we discover how the ego is behind our every calculation and how there is no truth in whatever it determines, the readier we will become to look beyond our egos for answers, above the contradicting emotions and opinions that it brings about, and wish to bring ourselves to a state of complementarity and completion.

Question: The world is constantly evolving, and we no longer need to explain to people that the world is global. They see it themselves. But their question is: “What is next?” How can we compensate for this?

Answer: We do not need to think about the whole world, we are not able to grasp it.

Our teams on all continents are conducting dissemination activities. But the main action should be in Israel because here is that part of humanity in which the Reshimot, the spiritual genes, lie exactly on the surface. These people have already realized them once and fell from them.

Therefore, we must definitely activate the part of humanity called “Isra-el,” straight to the Creator, which carries the quality of bestowal and love.

If we do this, then practically the entire world will feel a strong spiritual jolt: suddenly people will rush forward, suddenly they will discover the meaning of what to live for.

They will stop striving for various nonsense. They will suddenly be drawn to realize this idea—good connection between them in order to reveal the upper force, the next dimension.

But for this we need to work at full capacity. I hope that we will do this within the next few years. At least I see it as my mission. I hope we can do it. If not, the state will be very deplorable for everyone: first for the Jews, then for the entire world.

Michael Laitman, On Quora: “How can I learn to better understand social interactions?“

Social interactions ultimately come to teach us that the entire world was created for the person.

We encounter different people in different situations in order to learn how to position ourselves in an optimal manner, which means becoming conduits of nature’s positive force of connection, bestowal and love into our world.

Such a force is an attitude that wishes solely, as it is written, “to do good to the good and to the bad,” i.e. to bring love and fulfillment to all. Ultimately, we need to feel as if we are the representatives of this force toward others in society, and our every interaction then becomes in order for us to know how to position ourselves so that we will become such conduits.

We should thus calibrate ourselves toward our social interactions in order to let the message that nature wants to deliver to this world pass through us undistorted. By doing so, we become nature’s helpers, servants and conduits.

Question: A viewer asks, “Humanity has come up with all kinds of holidays, but there is no holiday named “The Meaning of Human Life Day.” Why? Does it mean no one needs to find out what the meaning of life is?

Answer: “The Meaning of Life Day” would be a day of mourning, not a holiday. And what is the meaning of life?

One suddenly realizes that there is no sense in life, we live in vain. Life is passing us by every single day. Maybe it would be for the best if it didn’t begin at all.

A holiday, in general, is not for fun. A holiday is to commemorate. So holidays can be tainted with generally sad messages such as “the meaning of life.”

Comment: It would be great if people started searching for the meaning of life.

My Response: Well, people have been looking for it for thousands of years. So what?

Question: Why can’t they find it?

Answer: Because there is no meaning in life.

Question: What does a person live for?

Answer: To ask this question in every generation and not to find an answer.

Question: Is it important to ask this question?

Answer: This question arises from within a person, whether you want it to or not.

Comment: It seems like it’s better not to ask this question, but rather simply live our life without asking it. It’s easier that way.

My Response: Then we remain at the animal level. Humans keep evolving and that’s why we question ourselves about the meaning of life in each new generation more and more.

Question: That is, we can’t help but keep asking this question?

Answer: No, we won’t. The mere fact that we keep questioning ourselves will bring us to the point someday that we will begin to reveal it. I hope it will be very soon.

Question: What is the meaning of human life? Why am I born into this world? To be born, live some 70 to 80 years and then die? For what?

Answer: You live to search. Each person is searching subconsciously. Anyone, a bricklayer, locksmith, artisan, academician, street cleaner… no matter who or how! A drunkard… it doesn’t matter. All of them are engaged in the search for the meaning of life. And they do not even know what motivates them to engage in the search for the meaning of life. Every person, everyone does it.

Comment: Many people say: “I lived my life so well! I achieved a lot.” They seem so reassured as if they had never searched for the meaning of life.

My Response: They simply convince themselves.

Question: But they still have this question inside, don’t they?

Answer: Otherwise, they would not be alive. Every second of our life starts with the fact that a person asks the question: “What am I living for?”

Question: Otherwise, he would not live. He does not realize it and therefore lives through this given second, and again asks himself the same question: “What am I living for?” Over and over again, we go on this way with our lives, but we still lack an answer. Nonetheless, all the same, we enter the quest all over again: “What am I living for?” Thus, we live through the next second, etc. This is how it goes throughout our entire lives. Is this what we call the flow of life?

Answer: Yes. A continuous question about the meaning of life and a constant search for an answer that people do not ever reveal.

Question: What if I never ask myself this question? Are you saying, in fact, that there is no such thing?

Answer: No, it’s not up to you! That is, this question generally precedes our physiological perception. It is the most important and fundamental question of all. It is a spiritual quest: “What do I live for?” After one asks it, our body, all our organs begin to revive, blossom, and develop. As a result of living millions of diverse lives, we conclude that we will indeed find the meaning of life.

Question: What is it?

Answer: To feel the Creator, the source of all life. And we will discover It. However, so far we have continued looking for it. Yet we are already approaching a state where we will begin searching for it in a conscious way.

That is, we can already better imagine what the source of life is, what the Creator is. How, on what basis, with what qualities, and what intentions, can I approach Him, grab hold of Him, draw near Him, and cling to Him like a baby to its mother?

Question: Is this the meaning of life?

Answer: No, it is not. It is simply a tool to connect with the meaning of life. And then when we reach this stage, from there we will be looking for who He is, the Creator, the meaning of life. What does He want from us, what do we expect from Him, why is the entire meaning of life only to be drawn to Him and adhere to Him? And only then from Him will we begin to absorb what the meaning of life is.

Comment: You are telling us that there is no contentment, only a constant search.

My Response: Why do you need contentment? It’s worse than death. It is the denial of existence, it is non-existence, nothingness!

Question: Is there no such thing as retirement in this matter? Is there no pause? Will our search constantly go on? Is there no such thing as a pause?

Answer: Not at all! God forbid!

Question: Is this the pathway to eternity?

Answer: Eternity means to be in constant closeness with Him, holding on to Him, clinging to Him and adhering to Him more and more without end.
