Michael Laitman, On Quora: “Is a hologram a potential spouse now? If so, what are the benefits?“

Akihiko Kondo is a young Japanese man who married a hologram of a virtual character three years ago, and he is not the only one. Thousands of people in Japan have relationships with fictitious characters. Kondo says that thanks to his relationship with the hologram, his wife, he was able to overcome severe depression.

We live inside a hologram. That is, the world is a kind of a virtual entity, and therefore there is nothing special about it.

One of my students asked me about this phenomenon, whether we could establish a spiritual connection with a hologram, since in Kabbalistic sources it is written, “man and woman, and Divinity between them.” A spiritual connection needs to be a result of people wishing to exit themselves, and entering into a realm where they bestow, love and connect. It does not necessarily have to be toward a male or female spouse.

It is beneficial for us to practice various forms of our relationships with the world and the universe on holograms, because what we perceive surrounding us are nonetheless images that we ourselves depict. Through such exercises, we can discover a connection to the upper force, with which we can enter into a mutual connection.

The upper force is a spiritual force of love, bestowal and connection that governs our lives. Ultimately, behind our every aspiration is a deeper wish to connect with the upper force, and it is possible by developing an equivalent force of bestowal within us. We can do so by training ourselves to be in a state where we wish to love, bestow to, and help everybody exit their egos and enter into the same intention to bestow, love and connect.

Michael Laitman, On Quora: “What do old people and teenagers have in common?“

As a part of a school project, twins from the 10th grade met with a 77-year-old woman, keeping her company. The project ended a long time ago, but the connection that became established between the twins and the 77-year-old woman grew stronger, which developed into a very close and special relationship, where they spent more and more time together, eating together, and sometimes even staying over at the elderly woman’s place. The older woman mentioned that the girls brought light into her life.

Indeed, teenagers and elderly people can very beneficially complement each other. Teenagers, who have several deficiencies and insecurities, and who seek to make their way in life, can receive answers to a lot of their questions from elderly people. Older people have a surplus of knowledge, understanding and warmth, and they no longer have children whom they can pass it on to. For instance, the elderly woman in this example received vitality through her connection to the teenagers. There is also research showing how much elderly people become enlivened when connecting to children. Unfortunately, we see nowadays that after retirement, many elderly people become lonely, stay at home, and their health deteriorates, similar to flowers that start withering away.

There needs to be a system connecting those at the beginning and the end of their lives. Neither knows how to make this connection, but when that system is operating, then we would see great benefit for both age groups. I would very much recommend creating such connections as broadly as possible in different ways, shapes, forms and for different ages.

Michael Laitman, On Quora: “How do you manifest your thoughts into reality?“

Our every desire makes an impact.

By using our desire, we can achieve anything, but on condition that we examine and bring our desire closer to the general desire of nature, which is one of connection, mutuality and balance. In a word, love is nature’s will.

For instance, if we wish to manifest the best possible and most suitable spouse into our lives, then we need to search inside ourselves, first and foremost, for who and what we are, what we are drawn to, what we wish to achieve, and we will then know, more or less, what we are truly searching for, what we wish to see in our spouse, and what qualities in our spouse can we say that we lack in order to complement each other. Such a force of scrutiny and our inner desire will manifest that reality because we live in a system of forces, and we receive from that system if we activate it.

By conceding to them.

When one spouse concedes to the other, then the other spouse will feel that concession, and will also want to concede in return. Such mutual concessions become a place for love, as is written, “man and woman, and Divinity between them.” Love will then become a third force that is born between the spouses. Love becomes their spiritual baby.

Moreover, the emotion of love that passes from one person to the next is omnipresent outside of us, and thus the emotion that they give birth to is eternal.

Michael Laitman, On Quora: “Why is Israel politically unstable? Can we expect a clear winner this time?“

The reason for Israel’s political instability today is that we have reached a state where we hate and cannot come close to each other.

Since this flaw has become revealed, now is the time to fix it.

First of all, anyone who enters politics and becomes a government member needs to become corrected. By “correction” I mean that they should undergo a process of inverting egoism—prioritizing self-benefit over benefiting others—to its opposite—prioritizing the benefit of others over oneself. By remaining as egoists, we bring about destruction.

We need to become aware that, as it is written, “man’s inclination is evil from his youth,” and that we need to correct this evil inclination if we are to reach a better state.

How do we reach a state where we mutually understand each other, where we fight our ego instead of fighting each other? That is what we need in order to reach a harmonious and peaceful life without wars, disputes and trials.

There is a single truth, which is love. In contrast with that truth, we were given an egoistic and hateful nature. We simply need to know how to correctly work with the power of hatred in order to reach its opposite, the power of love, and we should invest primarily in learning and teaching how to undergo this transformation.

Michael Laitman, On Quora: “Will severe food shortages affect the United States in coming months?“

As we develop without taking the meaning of our lives into consideration, then anything is possible. Why not? We need to understand that we cannot kid around with these things.

How is not considering the meaning of our lives connected with possible food shortages and other unfolding crises? It is because without answering the question about the meaning of life, we have no idea how to behave toward one another.

If we were aware about the meaning of our lives, then we would know how to plan our lives. For instance, why do we spend so much money on the military and other useless things? We need to understand the system of life, and how to organize it as a whole so that it can optimally encompass everything.

Food shortages are just one symptom of the deeper problem, and these symptoms emerge in order to awaken us.

The heart of our problems today is human relations. We need to understand that we each host an innate egoistic desire that prioritizes self-benefit over benefiting others and nature, and until we take care of it—learning how to redirect it to enjoy primarily from benefiting others and nature—then we are headed into an abyss.

Comment: Alesya asks: “You say that it is necessary to bow your head before the Creator and say: ‘I agree.’ But how do you agree with what He is doing? It is Him who is doing this! Is it really impossible to treat us in a different way, in a kind way?”

Answer: It is possible to treat us kindly, but we do not understand. And therefore, it is necessary for the Creator in His attitude of absolute goodness toward us to forcefully, gradually introduce into His quality of absolute goodness the quality of suffering, the feeling of lack; otherwise, we do not react.

Question: There is such an expression, “Attract with kindness and push away with suffering.” You say that “attract with goodness” is not enough? Which means, we do not hear this attraction with goodness?

Answer: We do not feel it. Every day, from morning to evening, every second, we have opportunities to treat each other with kindness: to connect, unite, and try to feel a good force between us which will eventually accumulate and manifest itself as the upper force, as a quality of kindness and love.

But we do not hear it. Maybe we connect for a minute and that is it. Then we disconnect from that and again jump into all sorts of quarrels between us.

Question: And that is why you say that actions of the Creator are only to enforce?

Answer: No. He acts all the same with kindness. But in this goodness, some actions manifest themselves more and they seem to us harsh, bitter, and so on.

Question: And what is it in us that turns these acts of goodness into apparent suffering? It seems that goodness is aimed at you, but you are suffering. What is it that we have in us?

Answer: Our egoism! The Creator wants to show us every second how the egoistic quality pushes us apart and away from each other and leads to all kinds of regrets and suffering. This is clear from every second of our existence.

In general, it is terrible when you see it!

Question: So, until He gets us to the point where we see it, it will not stop?

Answer: No, of course not. We must see this evil in us and everything will immediately start to turn around.

Question: We will want to get out of it, feel this good that is directed at us after all?

Answer: You have to imagine it even before you see it. You do not have to see anything! Imagine everything that is said, and this will be enough to break away from egoism.

Question: Imagine that only a flow of good comes to us?

Answer: Yes, that there is huge egoism between us and we need to somehow overcome it and connect with each other above the egoism. This is the main work of man.

Question: Once our lives were mainly based on physical communication, and there were psychologists who corrected this communication so that it would not be painful. Then this was blocked for us, and we began to master virtual communication. New experts appeared who specialized in communicating correctly virtually. But now we have a certain disruption, a failure in the system of relations, a war. What form of interaction awaits us in the future?

Answer: Love will support hate and hate will support love, and we will develop these two properties in a constant recurrence. Moreover we will do all this consciously: hatred comes, so love must come. Thus we will sail.

Question: What kind of breakage can occur in this new system?

Answer: None. If we know that love arises in order to then reveal hatred, and hatred is for the manifestation of love, then everything will be fine.

Question: What kind of specialists are needed there, at the next level?

Answer: I think these are going to be specialists who understand how to properly correlate love and hate. In our language, this is called “Aviut ve Zakut” (coarseness and purification).

This is already an upper psychology, which is still unknown to us in ordinary life, but we will have to master it. It will be necessary to learn this. There are courses, there are explanations. It’s not scary.

Question: How can such specialists be trained?

Answer: They come to our classes and they gradually get into this case themselves, and they learn on themselves.

Question: And what to watch out for?

Answer: To watch out? I don’t even know. I don’t see any problem with that.

In any case, a person develops himself, even if he does not understand quite correctly, he cannot correctly perform some exercises and tasks. It’s developing him anyway.

All this happens in a person in order to reveal one’s nature, which consists of two opposites, as does all of nature—coming closer and distancing, plus or minus, light and shadow, etc. So we have nothing to be afraid of here, we can’t ruin anything. We just have to come and study intensively.

Michael Laitman, On Quora: “What should everybody learn?“

Everybody should learn how to become human beings, which means how to connect as a single positively-connected humanity, and by doing so, attract the positive omnipresent force dwelling in nature, which is behind our existence and our universe. In other words, we should discover nature’s positive force of connection within our connection.

When our connection adapts with the goal of doing no harm to anyone, and acting solely for everybody’s benefit, then the positive force dwelling in nature will reveal itself in such a bond.

Everybody should learn that humanity’s next evolutionary stage is to discover nature’s positive force of connection, and that the more we can adapt our connections to it, the more we will feel our lives become filled with a much greater kind of fulfillment, harmony and tranquility. We have evolved toward this major evolutionary stage for hundreds of thousands of years, and today we are positioned on a fateful transition point: either we fail to learn about how to adapt our relations to nature’s positive force of connection, and feel increasing darkness, crisis and troubles enter our lives, or we learn about how to adapt to nature’s positive force, draw that force into our lives, and experience a newfound life of fulfillment, harmony and peace.

Comment: Victor writes: “You contradict yourself. On one hand, you call for covering evil with love. On the other hand, you recall the words from the Bible: “He who comes to kill you, kill him first.” How does it all fit together?”

My Response: These are laws, and there is nothing one can do about it. If a person comes to kill you, then you must kill him first. There is no choice here.

Question: When does the second law apply, the one you are talking about, the main one, that “evil must be covered with love“?

Answer: Love your neighbor as yourself.

Question: How does it all connect?

Answer: It does not connect. If someone wants to kill you, there is no other choice. Which means, you have to kill him first.

Question: What should my attitude be to the fact that he came to kill me? Like to evil that came to me?

Answer: Yes, as to a person who comes to kill you, and you have to kill him so that this evil will not be manifested in the world anymore.

Question: When does this law “to cover evil with love” arise?

Answer: This is not about killing. We are talking about the fact that one shows evil to the other. Therefore, the other one has to show him an example that is opposite of this.

Question: So, are these two different laws?

Answer: Two completely different levels. One, you cut off, and the second, you cover and correct.
