Question: When does the corporeal reality become a spiritual reality for a person?

Answer: It happens when he can relate to others as to himself, when the boundary between the two is erased.

In fact, we cannot even say that we acquire the attribute of bestowal, although this transition is described that way. We cannot actually acquire new attributes. Our essence, like computer hardware, remains unchanged.

The whole point is to what extent I “take in” the other as if he were myself. I operate above my growing ego since otherwise there would be a natural closeness between me and the other, just like between a couple or between partners who worry about one another because of common interests or interdependence. This is the reason that the resistance of the ego should build up and above which I still bring the other closer to me, until he actually becomes like myself according to the principles of “don’t do to others what is hateful for you,” and “love thy friend as thyself.”

This doesn’t mean that I exit myself. More accurately, I “swallow” the attributes of the other, which seem external to me. Then the whole world is mine.

Question: The problem is that when I look at my group of ten, I don’t want to “swallow” it….

Answer: It will come, and then you will feel that the friends are the closest people to you and that no one is closer than they are. Even your relatives, even your family will seem much more distant than the friends. After all, the friends are close to your soul and the family is closer to your body. The family is like a contract that we have to keep, and the mutual guarantee between the friends is very dynamic, constantly changing, by joining, getting closer to you more and more….

I repeat, eventually, you will not come outside, but will actually let all the friends enter you.

Question: How can I speed up this process? Since it comes back and hits me time and time again.…

Answer: That’s right, the future is knocking at your door, and you don’t let it in and thus you feel pain. You have to open the door in advance before it can be knocked on, since otherwise it’s too late.

It says in the “Song of Songs”: “Open the door for me my beloved.” But his beloved is not ready, she doesn’t want to receive her beloved, and her door is locked. When she does open, the beloved is already gone, and is hiding: “I searched for him but I did not find him; I called him but he did not answer me.”

So you should open your door in advance, open up to the Creator together with the friends.

Question: We live in the flow of time. There are people who waste a lot of energy learning how to plan their time. Does this depend on how much a person has to do?

Answer: It depends on a person’s desire. Essentially, the internal self-organization of the person depends on his psychological setup, and everyone has their own.

There are people who are very organized internally: They consider each step from the start, they are compelled to plan their day, sometimes even long before they materialize their plan, and this is how they operate all the time. This is “in their blood.” But if there is a desire, it’s possible to learn this.

There has to be a clear task set before an individual, the obligation to carry it out, the desire to fulfill it, and the influence of the environment on him or her. All of it has to be organized in a way that it will work within a person.

On the other hand, there is a worldwide trend of evolutionary development, which changes our desires and values. And therefore, even if we obligate a person to work according to the previous values for attaining goals that are no longer important to him today, it will be very difficult for us to get a good work yield out of him.

This also depends on time. A very serious change in man and society is taking place today. Every people, every civilization (today there are six or seven civilizations in the world) has its own sense of time, and therefore we need to take this into account.

For example, the inhabitants of Africa, China, and South America comprehend time completely differently than the inhabitants of Northern Europe and North America. They have an absolutely different approach, internal sensation of time, and they ascribe different value to time. For some time is money, like an immense potential they were given and now must realize, while for others time flows calmly and they flow together with it.

Question: If the representatives of various civilizations feel time differently, does it mean that the amount of activity done by them will also differ?

Answer: Certainly! If I employ a worker from India, with his mentality and with his relationship to time, or I take a person with a Nordic character, they will have completely different requirements for themselves, for those around them, and for everything.

We need to understand that the sensation of time in various modern civilizations is different. In accord with this we have to plan our interrelationships, attitude to general connections, associations, and so on.

Question: Yesterday, you spoke about Abraham who discovered the wisdom of Kabbalah by introspection. What is that?

Answer: All of reality is in a person. What is more, reality doesn’t actually exist, there is a picture of it that I develop inside me. It is felt in the vessels, in my desires, by a certain sensor, by inner frames of a photographic film that reflect the reactions to the upper Light that depict my lack of equivalence of form with it.

A “flashlight” of the simple white Light is directed at me, but I am made of 613 different desires, different attributes that form a colorful, three dimensional picture of the world filled with sounds, scents and things I can touch on the background of the white Light. In other words, I actually “draw” or design the world in which I live.

However, according to my perception of reality, everything depends on my attributes and not on anyone else. It turns out that, if I change, the world will change. This is what we can do by introspection when I understand that I can change the world by the changes I make in me.

So, how can I change? I cannot do that by myself. I only have an unpleasant feeling in the current reality, and I cannot pull myself up by the hair out of the swamp. After all, even the thoughts about a change are part of this swamp.

This is exactly where the force of the shattering helps me. In my fictitious reality, there are people around me who tell me, “You know, we also think about that.” I see that the other parts of the still, vegetative, animate, and speaking nature are managed by one general mechanism, but my imagination draws people who have the exact same vector as I do, and this enables me to practice and to exercise. Now, I can see myself from the side. I can work with them just as I work with myself, like with an external reflection of myself.

When I work with them, I discover that this game is very creative. The relationship with the images of the friends helps me advance by acquiring a new perception, a new feeling. They don’t develop my old attributes and don’t add to the previous mind and previous feelings, but rather develop new qualitative attributes in me, attributes that I didn’t have before.

For example, a multi-dimensional perception or rising above the concept of time: Before, I could see the past, present, and the future, and now I stop feeling time. The external movements disappear and I perceive everything internally and connect it with the inner movements. I change, and as a result I feel changes on the background of the white Light.

If I work with the images of the friends that I see this way, I understand that it is true that they are depicted by my imagination, but the right attitude toward them allows me to acquire a special means for inner changes. Through the mutual efforts with these images, I attribute a certain independence to them—to the extent that I want to be independent. Eventually, when I play with them this way, I acquire the perception that takes me out of the current picture that is drawn on the screen of my consciousness to a new reality.

Question: You say that today the number of human actions in a certain period of time is accelerating. Apparently, this is due to the amount of information in which we find ourselves.

Answer: It depends on a person’s internal resetting, on whether he will be able to accept and transform himself according to a completely new paradigm, a new attitude towards himself and society, the environment and the world. If instead of trying to absorb everything in himself, for himself, a person readjusts himself in the opposite direction, then he will be able to find himself “outside himself,” in what surrounds him.

He will sense the present self only as a transmitting, faithful animal that exists only until he enters the next dimension—“outside himself.” And then, this animal (our physical body) disappears from our sensations. We are moving towards this.

Question: Is there some kind of dependence between a personal inner sensation of the speed of the flow of time and the person’s ego?

Answer: Certainly, the sensation of time is directly connected with all kinds of trends in the development of the ego of every person and every civilization. If we say that the world is different today, then we really mean that it’s changed in comparison to yesterday, but differently in its every part. We take this into account when speaking about some kind of global change, but not more than this.

It’s possible to learn how to regulate, to plan our time, but only if we take into account our natural inclinations and those limitations where we can at least make some kind of small change in our relationship to time.

Question: Today most people think that in the subjective reality, time is beginning to advance much faster. In the past it seemed to them that time was stretched and smeared, so now the weeks go by so fast that people don’t pay attention to them. Why is this happening like this?

Answer: The life expectancy of the person who lived two or three hundred years ago was not more than 36 – 40 years on average. For them time flowed slowly, evenly, even though for them a lifetime was two times less than it is for us. In contrast, for us, there isn’t enough time for anything, time “runs” and suddenly we are old and then we die.

We feel time differently because the value of time is different. The number of activities that we can include in every moment in time has changed. Therefore time is also very saturated, dense.

This is not connected to fears, tension, or some kind of expectation that a person has; this is a much more complex problem. The more we develop, the more and more we become detached from the animal world.

An animal can live calmly. It has no concept of time: If it needs to lie down, it lies down, if it needs to hunt, it hunts, and so forth. That is, for the animal everything is determined, everything is according to the seasons of the year, everything has been considered. Nature shows it exactly what to do, and it has no problem with time. The animal is never late.

But the more that we have become humans in our development, the more we have problems with time. This is essentially because we want to renounce the concept of the “sensation of time.”

Baal HaSulam, “The Arvut (Mutual Guarantee)”, Item 25: …about the reason why the Torah was not given to our fathers, because the Mitzva, “Love thy friend as thyself,” the axis of the whole Torah and around which all the Mitzvot revolve, so as to clarify and interpret it, cannot be observed by an individual, but only through the consent of an entire nation.

And this is why it took until they came out of Egypt, when they became worthy of observing it. And then they were first asked if each and every one of the nation agreed to take that Mitzva upon himself. And once they agreed to it, they were given the Torah.

I cannot reach anything in a group of ten if all the other friends don’t support me and don’t cooperate with me. In fact, we must be “as one man in one heart.” My personal efforts will be ineffective if the others don’t participate in the efforts.

This may seem like a very big obstacle, but in fact, it isn’t an obstacle. If I cannot incorporate into a framework called a “corrected group of ten,” it means that I have not reached my personal correction yet and have not become the one who bestows, adhered to the Creator, at least to a certain extent.

The perception of the spiritual reality already operates here. I mustn’t see anything on the outside as an external factor. The pattern of the ten is inside me as a replica of my inner world that is meant only so that I can work with my attributes that seem to be on the outside, in the friends. This helps me approach the correction in a more practical manner.

The Creator is not revealed to an individual created being, but only in a group of ten. This matches the structure of the nation and of the entire world. Therefore, I must work on the whole wide dimension of reality.

It is because all this is actually me. I see my inner attributes on the outside, like radiography, in the still, vegetative, and animate nature and in human beings. It is as if everything is spread from me outward.

So, I must see how all the others are advancing to correction and to what extent I can help advance every part that is external to me. In one place, I introduce integral education, and in another place, I present introductory material for integral education. However, one way or the other, it stems only from me, from the same source, and is aimed in only one direction, toward actual integral education and onward to more internal circles, which means the desires that are closer to my point in the heart. Here, I can engage in the wisdom of Kabbalah and work in a group of ten, which means in an environment that is closer to the spiritual spark in my point in the heart.

This is how I should see the general picture. Through this perception, I understand that if I restrict my perception and don’t worry about the entire world, it will lead to nothing.

However, a person advances along this path by the Light that Reforms that gradually helps him perceive things correctly. So, we must do only what we are obliged to do, and eventually we will change. The Light will come and illuminate, and then I will see and understand that my approach and my perception should be general. The Light will let me feel and understand what the attribute of bestowal is, and I will accept it and continue.

Question: When we are working to create an integral society (community), we need to play with this. Together with this, must all of our mutual activities be carried out at the level of thought?

Answer: Absolutely! Nothing more is required of us. We are entering a system where only one thought operates: the beginning of the action, the action itself, and its result. This is all thought.

Question: It is like an assembly line of thought where a lot of people each are carrying out a simple action for a total common result.

Answer: This is not an assembly line of thought. It is, rather, a closed chain of thought, let’s say, like a group composed of ten people where all are linked integrally. This is to say, they all organize a space between them like this where all of their thoughts, desires, and intentions become a shared integral space. Their different thoughts become one thought because a positive influence will be derived from each in regard to all and the goal is their shared state on an integral level.

This common general state doesn’t have to be physical at all. We already have spoken about this state that we create within us, that we describe to ourselves. Suddenly, we begin to understand that we already can realize it and that this state is completely mental. This is a system of thought that is created in which we can exist. Along with this, our physical world even can depart from our feelings and we can get rid of it. We simply pass to another state, the next level of existence, for we exist in the physical world thanks to our bodies only. After all, they belong to the level of the “beast,” whereas the integral level is truly human. The Adam is a closed system of thought and desire mutuality found on the next level, beyond our bodies.

Therefore, the still, vegetative, and animate nature that exists in our world becomes only a basis, a foundation, for us to develop our next level of existence. This is the level of a mutual connection between us, not on the corporeal level, rather on the level of thoughts and desires.

Question: I am an ordinary person and my personal qualities are limited. How is it possible to create a broader integral picture from them? How is it possible to care about all humans? As it seems this is difficult.

Answer: I don’t think this is difficult. Describe to yourself that you have unlimited possibilities, that you have a “warehouse” that contains everything. You can get everything you need from there and freely distribute and fulfill everything for all humans, for anyone that you want.

Now think: What do they really need? It is not a thousand calories a day, not health insurance, a pension, a vacation, or the right to work—things which already have been written about very nicely. What would you fulfill for a person so that he will be completely happy? This is to say, you try to relate to him as if he were your small and beloved child. Imagine that to yourself.

In this condition, your desires and wishes would be unlimited. They oblige you “to enter into the other” and to connect with him. This is called the formation of integral connections from everyone to everyone.

In no way do we think about anything negative. We think only about how to feel the particular desires of every person, to succeed in realizing them or help him to realize them on his own.

Question: How can we explain to humanity the reason for all existing contradictions? People aren’t even interested in the research of “Higgs’ boson”—the “God particle”—held in CERN on the Large Hadron Collider. The latest discovery states that any instability can make the entire world and all mass disappear at any moment. How can you explain this to your students?

Answer: There is nothing ambiguous about it since I regard the world as two forces: positive and negative, bestowal and receiving. It doesn’t matter how we name them. These two forces build the entire universe, not merely this world, but even the realms that are much higher than ours and that we don’t sense through our five material, animate sensors.

In order to develop this standard of perception and observe the world through receiving and bestowal, we have to rise to this level. We are still at the elementary egoistic stage of receiving, meaning that all we do is consume everything around us. The Torah tells us that we have to bestow: “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” If we manage to balance receiving and bestowal and reach equilibrium, we would realize that our world disappears between these two states and the higher dimension (the world of forces) appears to us.
