Friends, brothers, we need to find a solution to our problems. And for that we need to understand their true cause. They stem from the law of nature that develops us in a certain direction—towards unity.

Actually, it is not complex; however, this decision is contrary to our egoism, and thus we cannot see it. I do not accept the idea that I need to change myself; I do not understand what it means to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” But time is running, and we will have to turn to unity, in the worst case, under the real threat of destruction. By definition, the people of Israel have to be “as one man with one heart.” And when it begins to realize its destiny, all the troubles will recede, all the storms will subside.

The main thing is to start. After all, a person gets strength from the environment. So, if we act together, everyone will start to change, by being included in the process. We teach children to be kind and sympathetic; we reprove their antagonism and conflicts. It is time for adults to work on themselves. This is a simple solution—a “pill” that is easy to take. Let’s try, and the results will be immediate. Why do we need wars and terrorist attacks? Instead of war, public opinion and working together should be used, and Hamas will step aside.

Let’s reflect on mutual guarantee—not to win over the external enemy, but over the internal one. And the rest will come. It is the people of Israel who should initiate this process that will spread to the whole world.

Today the Jewish people are lacking unity in the human stage of development. This is the “Egyptian exile”—when a person suffers from its own egoism. At first, he seems a good “king,” but over time it becomes clear that he sucks all the juice out of the planet and of ourselves.

By the will of this “Pharaoh,” we have polluted almost all that is possible, in nature, as well as in relations between us. There is a crisis, what is called the “seven lean years” when we realize that our ego is literally killing us. We want to use others, instead of being a guarantor to each other.

The Book of Zohar is the source of the upper Light that illuminates from the top of the world of Atzilut. It’s a system of the upper Providence and leadership that operates on us, so that when we study The Book of Zohar we actually connect with this upper mechanism. The closer we want to get to the upper leadership while reading The Book of Zohar, the more strongly it influences us. But what does it mean to get closer to the Lights, to relate to the system of leadership and Providence correctly?

It means to be like it. It’s total love and bestowal and its law is the law of love. How can we check that? We do so according to the principle of “from the love of the created beings to the love of the Creator.” The Creator is nature, the essence of the upper system. So the word “God  –  ים-אלה” is the same as the word “nature – הטבע” in Gematria.

So if we want the upper force to connect us, to bring us connection and correction, it matches its plan. On our part there can’t be any other intention or inclination, according to this system with the upper Light. That is why it is called the Light that Reforms: When we want to connect mutually in “love thy friend as thyself,” which is the great rule of the Torah, that is Light, then it comes and corrects and fills us. Actually this is the only action in nature and this is the only thing that can help, save, correct, and bring good to us and to the world.

The current global crisis is meant to show us that only the action of connection can save humanity. Accordingly, the current “small war” in Gaza is meant to evoke us to the same inner action that is aimed at connection. So let’s try to connect all our inclinations in mutual guarantee and understand that we have to become “as one man in one heart.” In fact this is all our work.

We hope that the Light that comes while reading The Book of Zohar will fulfill the connection among us. Then there will be no enemies and there will be no wars. By trying to connect above the situation, we drive away the negative force. If in the past the leadership operated on us through the posterior of the Light because we were opposite to it, now it reveals its face. Let’s try and focus so that it will all happen this way.

All the exiles the people of Israel have been through were all exiles from mutual guarantee. And each time, the sufferings increased to such an extent that the group of Abraham reconnected again. But eventually the desire to receive grew so much that the brotherly love turned to unfounded hatred. The Temple was destroyed, the mutual guarantee was broken, and the people found themselves in the last exile that continues until the present day.

Today, as Baal HaSulam tells us, the people of Israel are like a sack of nuts, who are together only because of external circumstances. The hatred of other nations compels them to connect to a certain extent, but this connection doesn’t exist in the inner connection or in natural connections that are typical of other nations. Among the people of Israel, there was only the connection of mutual guarantee when their recognition and understanding, and their efforts were aimed at being together.

Any other nation is united by a natural “instinctive” force, while the Israeli nation has to work on its connections, since otherwise this work is done by the hatred of those around it, leaving it no other choice. In such a case, the nation of Israel is connected only on the level of the still nature; it doesn’t develop and remains in exile since it doesn’t advance towards connection by itself, of its own initiative; it doesn’t yearn to discover the quality of bestowal and love, that is, “the Champion of the World” (אלוף); the Hebrew letter Aleph (א) makes the difference between exile (גלות – Galut) and redemption (גאולה – Geula).

The children of Israel leave the exile, when they yearn to discover bestowal and love in the connection among them. So today they are still in exile and are not a nation yet. Only a series of troubles keeps them together, so that they will not disperse, so that they will be able to fulfill their role and to pass on this message to the whole world, and eventually bring contentment to the Creator.

This is the current situation. This means that the children of Israel should invest all their power in that, in order to move from the external pressure to the internal pressure. If the internal pressure obligates them to connect more strongly than the missiles and other revelations of general hatred, the external pressure will stop. The people of Israel must constantly obligate themselves to connect by overcoming the pressure of external factors.

But today the people are ready to speak about connection and it is simply a shame. It is the wrong situation when the Creator evokes it to connect by enemies from the nations of the world. This isn’t the real work of the Israeli nation and there is nothing to be proud of. People don’t establish good and desirable relations between them and external forces do this work. In the meantime, we must develop our inner powers by turning them into connection and then all the external pressure will stop. It will simply disappear.

It is very easy to test this since the internal mutual connection doesn’t cost anything, it doesn’t require anything except for a desire and a decision. So let’s try and see what benefit it will bring. There is no doubt it will heal society, be helpful to the country, and beneficial for everyone. The number of car accidents and crime will be reduced. At the same time, we will follow and see if it helps increase our sense of security and whether it affects our enemies. I am for testing.

Our nation is divided. The people in the south part of Israel feel discriminated against, and although many people express their willingness to host “refugees from the south,” actually not everyone understands what they are going through. Both children and adults find it hard to cope with the shelling. Our society has to offer real support to those who experience the blows.

There should be warmth and mutual empathy above all the interferences. No missiles or money will help today.

The collapse of the vast resources of the superpowers is yet to come. In fact we are all on the same “small planet,” in the same “sphere,” all interconnected. Without global balance, without homeostasis, we will reach total collapse.

However, even today, by the mutual guarantee among us, we can set an example to the whole world and help it overcome the crisis. After all, the crisis doesn’t end in terror, the economy, or finance. Natural disasters, for example, can be worse than wars. Today the world desperately needs the principle of mutual guarantee, which brings about harmony among us and harmony with Nature.

Unity is the law of nature. But where can we find the power to make even the first step to get closer to one another? Today all the “solutions” are temporary efforts to delay the collapse. Everyone understands this very well. There is simply no other choice but to connect. The nation of Israel can be an excellent example for that; it isn’t by chance that we are not considered a nation and our state is seen as being “in the process of formation.” This is actually true, since we are not yet a united nation; we haven’t fulfilled the condition we were given a long time ago. Everything is in our hands.

Baal HaSulam, “Introduction to the Study of the Ten Sefirot:” Indeed, if we set our hearts to answer but one very famous question, I am certain that all these questions and doubts will vanish from the horizon, and you will look unto their place to find them gone. This indignant question is a question that the whole world asks, namely, “What is the meaning of my life?” In other words, these numbered years of our life that cost us so heavily, and the numerous pains and torments that we suffer for them, to complete them to the fullest, who is it who enjoys them? Or even more precisely, whom do I delight?

Humanity is suffering, everyone is suffering; this whole life is an ongoing suffering. Only sometimes are we allowed to rest for several years, but the rest of the time we have to carry on an endless war of survival—this is the life that nature has designated for us. So what is life about? Does it really have to be that way? Can we make it better? So far we haven’t found a way to make our life better and happier. Baal HaSulam isn’t talking about a perfect eternal life above this corporeal life, or about the Creator and the world of Ein Sof (Infinity). In the meantime he is referring to the changes in our ordinary life in this world and how we can improve it.

He doesn’t start by lofty ideas, but rather from the simplest thing: Do we all suffer? Yes we do! Do you want to suffer less? Yes, we do! The wisdom of Kabbalah doesn’t steal your Torah and the joy of life from you; it doesn’t cut you off from life and doesn’t interfere with your corporeal actions; it only wants to add a bit a joy to your life, some taste, so that you will feel better! It’s a very gentle approach. Baal HaSulam identifies with human suffering and explains that it is possible to bring more joy to our lives.

After all, all our life is an eternal escape from suffering and today is the same as yesterday. But life can be happy, full, and good for you and for your environment, living in mutual concern for one another, feeling completely secure. Otherwise we sentence ourselves to an existence that is worse than an animal’s. After all, the greater our desires, the emptier we feel life and the more we suffer.

No one enjoys the life we are living and no one delights others, so it turns out that we suffer both ways. We simply cannot fill anyone because of our egoistic nature and cannot receive anything from anyone. So everyone is in mutual conflict and in an eternal struggle, making this life hard and terrible. Our egoistic nature destroys our life, making it a difficult experience. For example, the world we live in today with all the technological advancement could be paradise, but instead we have made it into a true hell.

We could live in a happy family in a prosperous society, free of any troubles, having everything that we need: health, security, a respectable job, freedom. Everyone could fill himself the moment he wanted to, working several hours a day and spending the rest of the time on some hobby. However, instead we kill ourselves at work, destroying the environment and the last resources we have left. Our egoistic nature doesn’t let us enjoy nor delight others, and eventually makes everything sink into darkness, bringing us to a dead end.

All we can do is hope that this crisis will teach us as gently as possible and will force humanity to recognize its egoistic nature, with which we can no longer exist. We will not survive if we don’t change our nature, but it’s impossible to change it just like that—it can only be done with the help of the wisdom of Kabbalah. Until a person reaches this conclusion, he will have to suffer much more.

We have to look at the root of the problem. We are under attack for irrational reasons. Nature itself obliges us to unite. We need to learn from history: Essentially, we are fighting with ourselves. If we overcome mutual repulsion, division into segments, if the people truly become the people, then it will live in peace.

We became the people after the exodus from Egypt on a clear condition of unity.

All our exiles were caused by our internal strife.

And every time enemies were ready to destroy us, but not completely.

How long can this go on?

All the primary sources talk about unity, and it is not a religion. These are the facts that have been confirmed over the course of millennia.

Special Edition: Events in Southern Israel

We need to want to unite. Gaza Strip is not the main issue. The main issue is unity between us. It is the solution to all other problems. Today people invite “southerners” to stay with them, and this is great, but it will end. While we have to rebuild the nation; we want unity to continue. That is what makes us the people. Mutual love must become an instinct.

Mutual guarantee should be nurtured. We will not see peace without it. Until we unite, we are like nuts in a sack. In fact, we have no other place to live. We will face the same problem everywhere: We do not fulfill our mission. The current crisis is not just a bad streak. Humanity today must become “round,” integral, and it is we who have to provide it with the appropriate method.

Every Jew is responsible for it. And although he or she may have no idea why people hate them, in reality, the world demands the main thing from us: the correction of human society. Sooner or later, we will carry out this task, and the point is to “save” us from suffering. But as soon as we get down to business, the world’s attitude towards us will change. The media will speak differently, and no one will say that Israel has no right to exist. We are special; we have always been like that, and we need to understand what solution is required today.

First of all, we have to be together. It relates to all sons of the nation, regardless of where they are situated. Today the American Jews feel that they are, first of all, Americans. Israel, in the best case scenario, comes second. Some even say: “They deserve it.” This has never happened before; everything turned upside down during the last few years when they started to support anyone but their own people.

Meanwhile, “Israel” is not genetic. It is a concept, a worldview. The “glue” of the mutual guarantee has to tie all of us together. We have to awaken love within. It’s possible if we work against our egoism, against petty calculations. Love is nurtured, built by mutual efforts.
