What Does the Body Have to Do With It?

49.01Question: If the corrections we go through are meant for the soul, what sensations do we feel in the body? It seems like they complicate the work of feeling correction. Why are they given to us then?

Answer: Honestly, I do not understand what you are talking about. If I focus on clarifying my relationships with my friends and clarifying my relationship with the Creator through these relationships, what does the body have to do with it?

Of course, the body also suffers; it shakes and feels various tensions, but I would say these are minor side effects. There is nothing significant about them.

You can rest assured that nothing will happen to your body. The body only becomes healthier if physical states result from your spiritual efforts. I guarantee you that.

The Soul Is the Intention to Bestow

608.02Question: The Creator gives the soul, which means intention. So does the quality of the intention define the soul?

Answer: The soul can only be formed when there is an intention to bestow. To the extent there is this intention, the upper light descends upon a person, shapes them, and creates them within the quality of bestowal. The intention to bestow is called the soul.

Question: How can we understand that we are coming closer to the soul? What are the correct indicators?

Answer: The indicators are the connection between you, and through it, the connection with the Creator. In this work, we only have two steps: to reach the quality of the connection between us in the ten and then to connect this ten with the Creator. That’s all. Nothing more is needed.

Separation from the Feeling of the Creator

531.01Question: We evaluate everyone solely by whether they strive for unity. If not, then this methodology is not suitable for us.

But who said that unification is important and the goal of the entire universe? Why not some kind of abstraction, like an out-of-body experience? This is more important for  another person.

Answer: I am not interested in what is more important for the other person. Everyone can make up whatever they want.

We believe Kabbalists, and this faith is confirmed by our knowledge when we follow their path and reveal the upper world.

They tell us that once we were one single whole and then scattered into pieces, meaning egoism tore us apart, separated us from each other, and acts between us as a repelling force.

But we have to cancel this force and reconnect. The moment we do this, we will immediately perceive the next level of the universe, the next world, called the upper, the divine, because it is above egoism.

Then we will already identify ourselves, not with our body, but with our common unified desire, which we have assembled from all the pieces. This common desire is called the soul.

Kabbalists explain to us how to do this and what we feel in the process. As for what comes to different people’s minds, so what can be done? This is where the disunity of humanity once began.

As Maimonides, the great philosopher of the XII century, writes, initially people felt that there is one single force. Initially, this was known to everyone. And then they saw that this force manifests itself through various actions in nature: wind, sun, and so on at the inanimate, animate and vegetative levels.

And people began to come into contact with these forces because they are closer to them than some abstract force called the Creator.

They began to worship the possible signs of nature, even to the point where they began creating idols, building temples, and making offerings. This is how religions and beliefs began to develop.

Thus, people broke away from the feeling of the one Creator, the single force of nature, and unification with Him and fell into the feeling of ordinary animate nature.

Questions about Spiritual Work—156

231.01Question: How can I understand that a soul has clothed itself in me?

Answer: Your current desire to understand why you exist is called the soul. You live to fulfill this desire and satisfy it.

Question: With the concept of “600,000 souls,” the number does not reflect the number of people or bodies, right? Is it a qualitative level related to the position of each spark relative to the worlds?

Answer: No, it is not. Each person carries a piece of the collective soul. Therefore, it is said that the collective soul is divided into parts, each of which is within us, and this is how we correct them.

Question: How should one work on oneself to avoid succumbing to the temptation of receiving for oneself? How can one feel this temptation?

Answer: This is a long process of correction. One must study and engage in this. It is a spiritual training mainly described in Rabash’s articles.

Question: Will moving to Israel affect spiritual advancement?

Answer: Undoubtedly.

Question: Why does spirituality not divide and separate into parts?

Answer: There are no different intentions and actions there because it is whole. Everything is aimed only at integration, to become similar to the Creator. Just as He is one, so must we be one single whole in our souls.

Circulation of Souls

631.5Question: Are the souls that are here today the same souls from past generations or are they, as it were, new awakenings?

Answer: A soul is a desire aimed at attaining the quality of bestowal, at connecting with others. Each time it is new because it goes through all sorts of changes. So it cannot be said that it is the same soul as before. There is no such thing.

You can rise to the same level that Abraham was on, and then you will literally feel everything that he felt as if you dwell in him. It is not the same soul, but what is called Ibur Neshamot—the impregnation of souls.

Question: When people awaken spiritually, must they necessarily have a Reshimo from a previous state, or is it a new awakening?

Answer: There is nothing new. The Creator created one unified soul called Adam from the word “Domeh (similar), that is, similar to the Creator. Then it shattered into many parts, each of which is a private soul that is in each of us and in general in all people in all generations.

The Soul Has No Relation to the Body

49.01Question: The human body is an integral system of nature’s creation where each cell works to give and care for the entire organism. How is the interconnection between the human body and its soul expressed as an integral system of nature?

Answer: There is no connection and no need to invent this connection. It simply does not exist! Not to confuse you, but even the body does not exist. We should leave this alone.

We have the perception of a reflection of our soul to start understanding what we are dealing with. But we do not deal with the body at all! If there is a problem with the body, go to a doctor. But the soul is by itself.

Different Levels of Souls

522.01Comment: There are different souls, i.e., those who are awakened by the Creator and there are those who must awaken through us. It seems like this group coincides with those who came to Abraham in Ancient Babylon and became the people of Israel.

My Response: You do not need to elaborate on this because you will not understand anything anyway since you do not attain these souls at the level at which they were. It is useless to assume anything. You will only confuse yourself with incorrect conclusions.

It has nothing to do with those souls. They have done their job and continue their correction at other levels. After all, souls are at all levels of the spiritual world and our world. There are only those who have never been subject to correction.

Once we were all in the common soul of Adam, then we fell to the level of our world, and today we begin our ascent. We should not be confused with the souls of Abraham’s time or others. Someday, you will reveal this in practice, not based on your imagination.

When receiving an awakening from above, you need to know what to do with it: unite with each other, attract the upper light, etc. The closer you become to each other, the more actively you will realize your new properties.

In these properties, you will attain new states up to those upper ones in which the souls used to be or are now, for example, Abraham, Terah, and others. These are high levels.

We Will Understand That There Is No Death

294.4The one who learns to tread the spiritual path must become as an empty cup in order that the wine of music and harmony may be poured down into his heart (Hazrat Inayat Khan).

My Response: Yes, he expresses it well. That is true. If a person’s heart, meaning his main egoistic vessel, is empty and can be filled with the world’s harmony, then it is good.

Question: Does one need to empty one’s heart?

Answer: Yes.

Question: But it is full right now. What is it full of, and how can it be emptied?

Answer: If it is, it is full of selfish desires. We can empty it only if we accept all our desires as empty and unable to fulfill us and lead us on the right path.

Question: Can I do this psychologically, or is it more about education?

Answer: It is much more complex. But people will come to this eventually because there is no other way.

Question: So is this the will from above one way or another?

Answer: Yes, the Creator holds us in a way so we gradually understand who we are, in what world we exist, and how we can bring ourselves to the proper state.

Question: Does the Creator have a concept of time: “I will hold them a little longer”?

Answer: Absolutely not.

Question: But what about the fact that we have been held for so long, gone through so many years, suffered so much?

Answer: If we did not feel we were dying, we would be different. The fact that we die drives us into various thoughts, into a dead end, and so on. But, in principle, we are moving toward understanding that there is no death.

Question: And then what?

Answer: Then we will start relating to ourselves, the world, and the Creator differently. It will all be different.

Question: How?

Answer: I do not know if I can express it. It will be all free and simple.

Comment: Let it be so.

Death Is Not the End but a New Birth?

294.4 Igor asks:

You once said that the hour of death is not the hour of death but a new birth. How should we take this? I do not believe in afterlife. So what is it about?

Answer: It does not depend on you whether you believe it or not. It is just the beginning of a new cycle.

Question: When you say “the hour of death,” what does it mean for Igor?

Answer: You part ways with this life, with what you have made of it, how you have lived it, and move on to the next cycle.

Question: Does that mean somewhere a child suddenly screams, some boy is born, and so on?

Answer: No.

Question: Then what does new birth mean to you?

Answer: A new birth is, of course, the act of a child being born. But generally, it is the beginning of attaining the upper world and the Creator by what is called man.

Question: Is the hour of death necessarily my physical death, or is it not necessarily so?

Answer: No, not necessarily. It means everything old dies, all that I’ve lived through, all that I considered important.

Question: Can something be born that I did not consider important?

Answer: Naturally, in the next stage.

Question: Can you tell me what I did not consider important in my past life?

Answer: Typically, it is connections with people, love, and relationship with the Creator.

Question: Even though I always talked about love?

Answer: Regardless.

Question: When you say that another love arises, what kind of “other” love is it?

Answer: It is more natural, closer, one that cannot be explained otherwise than simply by opening your heart.

Everything Outside of Me is My Soul

423.01Question: If everything that is outside is my “I,” then what is the point of pulling everything on myself?

Answer: Pull it on yourself and say that it is not all your egoism, but it is all you.

Feel that the other is you. What is the other one? It is a part of you that was cut off from you by a spiritual knife and seems foreign to you. You are given such an illusion.

Our qualities at the human level appear in our sensations as strangers. Our animate desire, which we feel as bodily, appears in the form of the animate world.

We also have a vegetative desire, just as our body has hair and nails. That is, the vegetative level of our desires is felt by us as the plant world. The inanimate world inside us is all the minerals, all the elements, stars, and galaxies that seemingly exist outside of us.

In fact, all I see around me is contained in four levels of desire. Those that exist partially inside me, I consider to be my “I,” and those that I see outside of myself, I do not consider to be my “I.”

Therefore, I need to realize, attach myself to everything that is outside of me, and understand that this is my immediate integral part, even more dear to me than the part that is inside of me. And when I integrate it, attach it, and stick it to myself through the love I develop for it, it is exactly within it that I will be able to feel the upper force, my higher life, and my eternal state.

And I myself am just a small dot relative to all this “I” that is outside. And what is inside me now? What does “I” mean? In fact, the animal body that we consider to exist is an illusion. And there is also a point— the beginning of the soul. And the whole soul is everything that is outside of me.
