A Drop of Fear to a Spoonful of Love

622.02Question: What is special about fear that only together with it will the state of love be perfect?

Answer: The fact is that we are egoists and love only ourselves. Therefore we must add fear to where we turn with love.

Each of us should understand that even if he loves someone, it is still desirable that fear and anxiety join this love: What if I do not love enough? What if I do something for him that will make him neglect me? It is not because your egoism is afraid of it, but because you do not want such a relationship between you.

Correct the Sin of the Tree of Knowledge

232.06The correction of the sin of the Tree of Knowledge is that we must correct Malchut, which originally received the light of Hochma for its own sake.

Now it has to return to the first restriction (Tzimtzum Aleph) or nothing will work.

To make a restriction, we agree to receive nothing until we earn the screen. Only as we form the screen can we begin to receive light.

Question: Why did the Creator give Adam to taste the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge?

Answer: To raise him to His level.

Strengthen Faith in the Creator

534Question: The basis of our work is faith above reason. The more faith we have, the more light there is. We should not take the attainment of the lights of the Torah as a basis.

How can you not be impressed by this in your mind so that the ability to work in the quality of faith increases?

Answer: By working only on bestowing to the Creator, you will receive as much as you want.

Question: How can we use the light of the Torah correctly to continue to strengthen faith in the Creator?

Answer: To do this you must hold on to your friends, work together, and constantly raise yourself.

Questions about Spiritual Work—82

281.02Question: Why is the desire to receive, which should be corrected from degree to degree, in a deplorable state, like dust under the feet of the righteous?

Answer: Because the desire itself is not to be corrected, the intention is.

Question: What is this state in the ten when the righteous in me sees the end of the wicked in me?

Answer: Enter this state and you will see.

Question: What does it mean in the ten when the right side of a friend stands in front of my left side, and vice versa? How to work with it?

Answer: If, even though we are one against the other, we still combine our efforts to get closer to each other, then we get a full interaction.

Question: The wicked always justify themselves. How can we move from this state to justifying the Creator?

Answer: Start talking to each other, and then together you can realize that the only thing you are doing is criticizing the Creator.

Better Not to Hesitate

275Question: Each of us undergoes spiritual development individually. Is there a possibility for us to unite our souls and go together?

Answer: Yes, that is exactly what you must do.

Question: And then there will be no secrets?

Answer: Secrets may still exist, but they will not hinder collective unity and progress.

Question: When can we move to such a level?

Answer: Right now, there is no need to wait. You should constantly strive for greater and greater connection between you and then between you and the Creator.

The Middle Line Is the Truth

232.08Question: Can we be righteous in the left line when we do not feel that the Creator is right but convince ourselves of it?

Answer: You will not be able to convince yourself. We must do what is said, and we will see how the right and left lines connect with each other. Then, in the middle line, which combines them, we will attain the Creator—the truth.

Question: In the left line I cannot justify the Creator; in the right line I justify Him in faith above reason. But everything is solved in the middle line. How do I get to it?

Answer: To begin with it is necessary to aim to justify what is happening to you. This will be the real right line. And the middle line will be formed gradually.

Building a middle line is the work of both the Creator and the creation. They both create it.

Feel the Screen

232.03Question: What are the signs that we have a screen?

Answer: You must feel inside that you can really do some spiritual action not for yourself but for the sake of the Creator.

Question: How do we know the screen level, how much we can receive?

Answer: You cannot know that in advance.

But when we try to receive, we gradually rise from the restriction to a level where we see that, let’s say, up to here, we can receive but no more.

“Knowledge vs. Wisdom: Unraveling the Secrets of the Book of Life” (Times of Israel)

Michael Laitman on the Times of Israel: “Knowledge vs. Wisdom: Unraveling the Secrets of the Book of Life

A sage once said, “A person must acquire both knowledge and wisdom.” When he was asked about the difference, he replied: “Knowledge is achieved by reading books, and wisdom is achieved by reading the book that you yourself are.”

What kinds of books are we? We are the book of life with all of the experiences we have in life.

Reading this book of life requires remembering and understanding how we live. Our lives write this book but only we can be imbued with it and understand it if we leaf through it. Writing, in this case, means that we write this book. At every moment of our lives, we solve various problems that are set for us, and move them into action. We thus need to understand how it all unfolds.

We write the book of life with doubts and blood, i.e., suffering. We have been living in such a way for thousands of years, and everything that has taken place is written in this book. There is no other way, and there is nothing for us to regret. Rather, all the suffering that we have been though was necessary to write this book of life.

The last lines in the book of life, which it leads to, are those that encourage us to open our eyes wider and observe the world with clarity. We would then see that only we paint a picture of this world and ourselves inside it, and there is no reality other than what we determine.

We determine the existence of this world and make it exactly the way it is. In reality, there is no world. We define it. For instance, do we exist? It is whatever we define. In other words, we determine that we live in such and such a world, and we determine that it is us inside this world. There is nothing but our impression of what and how we write. If we reach such a level of awareness, then we can say that it is where the book has led us. In other words, the last lines in the book of life are that we get to know the world we find ourselves in. That is how we are guided by various blows of suffering—to acquire knowledge of the world where we live.

The result of reading the book of life is that we accept and agree with everything that happens and has happened to us. People are generally afraid and hope that they will receive something good at the end of their hard lives. The good that we can receive is that we accept everything. That is the result of our lives and this book of life. In other words, the result of our lives is to understand the real nature in which there is a clear law, that of “each according to their work on themselves.” We accept and agree with this law to the extent in which we realize it.
