Instead of maintaining connection between us and filling each other, we, with our egoistic properties, want all the needs of others, their desires and empty spaces, to be ours. We try to fill them and as a result remain empty and unhappy.

But why should I envy because I cannot fulfill myself anyway! “Others have it, and I should have it.” I begin to work seriously, I earn, I fulfill the desires adopted from others and do not experience any pleasure because they are not mine; they should not be realized in me, but in them!

And what is the result? I worked out too much, spent my life on it, tried to fill other people’s desires in myself, and I die with nothing, even more empty, many, many times emptier.

This is our life. Instead of acting to the contrary, to be filled with the fact that you feel the desires of others and you exist in order to connect with them.

Comment: There are students who leave us but somehow remain connected to us.

My Response: Those people are trying to adapt their studies of Kabbalah to our world. They cannot tear themselves away from us because they want to use the egoistic world for their corporeal ascent.

For example, someone insists that I explain Kabbalah to academics and politicians because he wants to look wise in the eyes of the whole world, he wants to be proud of his association with Kabbalah.

And I do not need it at all because there is nothing great in the greatest of this world. Therefore, he begins to complain about why I don’t explain Kabbalah to important people and don’t go and bow to them.

Why do I need it? I need students who will implement Kabbalah within them, within themselves, and by doing so correct the world! And I am not going to engage in such “marketing.”

In general, I am not interested in people who cannot pass spiritual laws through themselves. According to the definition of Kabbalah, they are considered animals, that is, they are content with the animate level.

I do not neglect them, but simply sort them according to the line of desires. Desires for this world prevail in them, and I need people with desires for the upper world. Suppose you were given a desire for the higher world, and you began to apply them in the direction of our world. Then stay with them! Nothing can be done.

Comment: You once said that if there were no desire to receive, then we simply would not perceive each other because we feel everything based on benefits, what I will get out of it. In this case, egoism plays a huge role and thanks to it we feel each other.

My Response: But this same egoism also limits us; we see and feel only what is beneficial to us. We do not feel the universe as it exists, a vast universe that includes all worlds, all forces, all fields, all of space. This space is not lifeless, but for us, it is empty.

Let’s say there is a couple of thousand kilometers between you and me right now—a void. Or it feels the same between me and some star. But this is not emptiness; I just do not perceive and feel this space because for me it does not exist.

There is no empty space. We learn in Kabbalah that everything is desire, but it is of a kind that I am not interested in. I was created in such a way that I do not notice it, it does not matter to me. It is not that it is bad or good; it is just that I am created that way. Just like you would say: “I am walking around a big city, but I do not notice anyone around me, just emptiness.”

The method of Kabbalah is to develop a sense of the real environment in a person, and through it he will understand what kind of force created and holds the entire universe, what for, and how.

As he begins to understand this, he will be equalized with this force, adapt to it and to everything that it fills. As a result, he will not only absorb it, not only compare his properties, but he will be able to control it; that is, he will be at the highest point of the entire universe. We must come to this.

You may ask, “Isn’t this world enough for a person? Why does he need another, higher world?”

It is in order to own everything, control everything, consist of everything, and eventually rise to the level of the Creator and be in a state of full bestowal and love. This inversion is incomprehensible to us because you can reduce your egoism to the state of an inanimate object and live without thinking about anything.

However, nature is designed so that you reach the maximum, but in this maximum you work for the service of others, for the maintenance of life in everyone and everything—like the Creator.

Michael Laitman, On Quora: “How can people avoid being ashamed of themselves?“

We constantly adapt to various codes of behavior in order to avoid feeling ashamed.

Beyond taking care of life’s essentials, namely that we have food, shelter, good hygiene and can take care of our families, everything else we do is motivated by our need to avoid shame.

The reason for our need to avoid shame stems from the very basis of our existence, in the process of our reality’s formation.

The wisdom of Kabbalah, which explains the process of our reality’s creation and evolution, describes that the Creator (the will to bestow) created the creation (the will to receive) and filled it with light (pleasure, fulfillment, enjoyment). After the creation felt the pleasure by the light, it realized that there was a greater quality behind the pleasure that it felt—a giver of the pleasure. Feeling that there was a giver of the pleasure and that it was a receiver of the pleasure caused the creation to feel shame. In other words, shame is the first reaction of creation to feeling its Creator, and it is thus what we must complement in order to attain likeness to the Creator.

That is why in our world, which emerged from this giving-receiving interplay between the Creator and the creation, the feeling of shame is behind the way we think and act in society.

The division within Israeli society is deepening more and more, penetrating every home and every place of work. There were cases when families canceled the Passover meal only because of their political differences. This conflict is spreading among the people of Israel like a new coronavirus—an epidemic of separation.

However, this conflict is not new, it already existed within Israeli society. Altalena continues today. Until we correct this condition at the root, it will not disappear by itself. It is not time that decides everything here, but the maturity of the people. They do not want to grow up and do not receive the proper education, but continue to act according to their egoism, which is the biggest of all nations.

This problem will not be solved by itself because the people of Israel are not inside nature, but above it. Therefore, our egoism will not be cured by itself, but only by our great and purposeful efforts.

Today’s confrontation is not the limit. Kabbalists warn that the people of Israel will have to go through great trials if they do not realize the need for their correction. In the end we will come to correction and unification, to “love your neighbor as yourselves.” But what stages we will have to go through on this path is known only to the Creator.

I see that the people of Israel have not yet come to the revelation of evil, even to a minimal extent. That is why we have yet to reveal our evil, each of us and all of us together, in the entire society. Who knows how many more wars will occur in the world because of the brotherly hatred between us.

Such brotherly hatred is peculiar only to the people of Israel because we are called to bring a method of connection and an example of brotherly love to the world so that love your neighbor as yourself becomes the law of the existence of all humanity. We are obliged to spread this method, implement it ourselves, and show an example to everyone. In this way, we will fulfill our destiny, and everyone will know what the secret of the people of Israel is and why it exists.

Everyone should know that there is a method that can correct the state of the world and lead it to connection and love. The people of Israel must first reach this by themselves, and then lead everyone else to love their neighbor as themselves.

The strength for such love must be taken from the Creator; we ourselves do not have it. It is impossible to force or persuade a person to love the other as himself. We must demand the Creator to shine this light of love upon us, and then we will be imbued with this light and will live in it.

This is only possible if we want it to happen. But we do not want that yet. Judging by what happens at demonstrations and in the media, we enjoy hating others instead of striving for love.

This is understandable because the people of Israel are the model of the entire world. It was formed from the natives of Ancient Babylon, where all the nations of the world were gathered at that time. The Jewish people have received a method of reaching love for one’s neighbor as for oneself, and if we make this correction in our small nation, it will serve as an example and the right message for the entire world.

Where is the point of connection?

Answer: It is above them, in the Creator. Between husband and wife, the point of connection is the Creator. “Husband and wife, Divinity between them.”

Question: When you say the Creator, can you simplify it a little?

Answer: This is a common property of reciprocity, mutual support, love, and connection, created by a man and a woman. It goes particularly in this combination—a man and a woman.

Question: Do they have to understand this in advance before they start their relationship?

Answer: In general, yes. This must be the purpose for which they bond together.

Question: What is the purpose of these two different, polar people—a man and a woman?

Answer: The purpose is that through mutual assistance between them, they reach such a state, such a connection when they will “revolve” around each other and at the same time create a special form of existence—”I am for you, you are for me, and both of us are for the Creator between us.” As it is said: “Husband and wife, Divinity between them.”

Question: So that the Creator becomes the highest property of love, bestowal? And it grows, and grows, and grows?

Question: What is love?

Answer: Love is when you perceive the desires of another person above your own and strive to fulfill them.

Question: But isn’t classic love when there is a burning sensation in the heart?

Answer: I do not know about the burning in the heart. We need to ask the physiologists what can burn there. You are talking about some suffering, maybe bad feelings and experiences.

I, however, am talking about the fact that love is the desire to fulfill the desire of the other person by yourself at the expense of and above your own desires. It does not matter at all to you what will happen to you from this, because the most important thing for you is what will happen to him. This is earthly love, and not the one Kabbalah speaks about.

According to Kabbalah, love is an adhesion of two spiritual objects: the created being (man) and the Creator. Or rather, the soul and the Creator. Such adhesion is reached by the similarity of qualities when the soul and the Creator bestow to each other, fulfill each other, and therefore merge together and absolutely complete each other. This state is called love.
