Humanity has entered such a turbulent period that there is nothing left to do but hold on. And we must hold on to one another. In this way, humanity will be brought to unity and forced to understand that we live in a global world. This is not some kind of global politics; it is simply that we are compelled to unite.
Globalism is not about the fact that I must take everyone into account in order to pursue my own policy or somehow manipulate the world. Globalism is about understanding that this world is shared, and if I do not care about someone else, then ultimately, I do not care about myself. Even from the point of view of egoism, I am involuntarily obliged to include the entire world within the bounds of my benevolent self-interest.
Nature will force us to this. We will still see what will happen. Mainly these will be environmental problems. In addition, we have not yet finished with the economic crisis; everything is still ahead. No matter how much we try to cover it up, it will explode.
Comment: Egoism is so adaptive. After some time, a person gets used to everything and is no longer afraid.
My Response: No, egoism does not “get used to” things; it develops. A person does not get used to anything. This is a mistaken understanding of what is happening to people. They do not adapt; they simply carry out the commands of their egoism. They cannot return to the past.
If they actually returned to the past and we froze at a previous level, even with a new egoism, then that would be adaptation. But we do not adapt; we follow the dictates of egoism, we become different, change ourselves, our nature, our society, our relationships, everywhere and in everything.
So what are we supposedly getting used to? Families are falling apart. Children leave their parents. The entire former system of relationships is changing. The greatness of science, the greatness of culture—all of this is declining.
Humanity (and especially those in power, together with the mass media, no matter how much they try to gloss it over) is still undergoing a very stormy renewal of the world. We are not getting used to it.
You want to say that people still continue to act egoistically? That is correct. But this too is planned by nature in order to bring humanity, so to speak, to the edge. And there will be blows, strong blows. It is precisely these that gradually lead us to awareness.
The point is not to strike. The point is that small blows should provoke the development of thought, awareness, comprehension, and feelings: “Where are these from, for what, and why? What is required of me? Who requires it? Nature? Does it have its own authority, its own power, its own opinion, its own goal, its own plan? Am I obliged to respond to this? Am I obliged to take it into account? Me? Who am I? A human being! I am above everyone!”
No, you are small. Who are you? What can you do? Entire villages burn down. A couple of hurricanes will sweep through and knock out all the electricity, or rivers that have not yet dried up will overflow their banks. And then such cold will come that all the pipes will burst and people will freeze. What can you do?
You will start thinking and suddenly realize that it is truly necessary to somehow come to one another’s aid. You will no longer walk around with your nose in the air, as if to say that you do not care about the whole world.
In no way do I want to speak contemptuously about anyone. I am saying that the blows of nature will force us to be different. When a person is in pain, he becomes human. When a serious illness is suddenly discovered, there is no time for polite conversation; he is already thinking about how to survive. This is how nature, the Creator, forces us.
Comment: People unite only when there are misfortunes.
My Response: But there will be misfortunes all the time! That will not be a problem. From now on, it will only keep escalating.
Question: But everyone, first of all, saves their own skin, don’t they?
Answer: People will have nowhere to go; there will be nowhere to save themselves! Neither America, nor Russia, nor Europe will have anywhere to escape to. The Asians will join in as well. Just wait.
Comment: But surely there is some boundary a person eventually crosses.
My Response: Crosses to where? They will beat him down to the point where he wants to die and will not be able to.
They will not allow it! The higher governance will not allow it. Can you imagine how hard it can be?
And on the other hand, we must develop and spread Kabbalah so that people see there is salvation; there is a method for changing oneself. Then you immediately change your entire perception of nature.
The Creator, nature, no longer becomes hostile toward you. You begin to enter into unison, into harmony with Him, and you feel goodness, paradise instead of hell.
