Question: The Creator testifies about a person. Does this occur at the beginning of the degree of reward and punishment, or is it when he has completed this measure of effort and passed this degree?
Answer: It occurs at the beginning.
Question: Does a person work with the correction of desires in direct connection with the Creator, meaning that he sees the result of his actions?
Answer: Yes.
Question: If a person has been rewarded with the revelation of the face, then from this point onward, what does his freedom of choice consist of?
Answer: He must constantly raise himself to a level that is above his personal desires. That is all.

When will one be certain that he has been granted complete repentance? For this, one is given a clear sign: “When He Who knows the mysteries testifies that he will not return to folly.” This means that he will attain the revelation of the face, at which time His salvation itself will testify that he will not return to folly (Baal HaSulam “Introduction to The Study of the Ten Sefirot“).
Question: What does it mean that a person will never again return to folly?
Answer: It is a state in which a person clearly discerns the degree of his relation to the revelation of the Creator, to his connection with Him. This awareness safeguards him from falling. The Creator reveals His attitude toward him to him, and therefore he will no longer fall.

Question: I change, and the world changes. Is that the formula?
Answer: That is the formula. But who changes me?
Question: That is the important question. Is it the Creator who changes me? In response to what? Or is it simply His will?
Answer: It is so that I can gradually determine that I am under His authority and that He governs the world that He alone created. And I am grateful to Him for having carried me through all these metamorphoses.
Comment: But until that happens…
My Response: It doesn’t matter. A person does eventually reach such a state when he dies. Then he understands and realizes.
Comment: I will ask you carefully: “Who is he?” You said: “A person dies,” and then you say, “he understands and realizes.”
My Response: The person, in his soul.
Comment: But he’s dead.
My Response: And what does “dead” mean?
Comment: That is interesting. What does “dead” mean? You said: “A person dies and then understands.”
My Response: And then he understands, realizes, that the Creator led him through all the states of this life.
Question: But who is he? Who understands?
Answer: The person.
Comment: But he is no longer here. He died.
My Response: Was he buried or burned? So what?
Question: And where is he, the person?
Answer: The spirit. That is the person.
Question: So is this spirit immortal?
Answer: Of course. What, do you think, it is just a piece of meat?
Question: So, are you saying that there is something eternal in a person, which feels everything, passes through everything, and only that exists?
Answer: Yes.
Question: And this outer shell, what is it?
Answer: That you may bury.
