If You Want Peace, Prepare for War

220Question: The year 2022 seems to be a year with the call to countries to take up arms.

The French president opened the door to increased military spending by re-evaluating the military planning law and his aim to put the country on a war-economy. Turkey’s President Erdogan and Greece are disputing Greece’s arming some Aegean islands. Germany approved 100 Billion Euro revamp of its army. Poland is rearming actively and quickly. Japan doubled its military budget. And I’m not even talking about South Korea, North Korea.

All the time you say: “Unite!” The world says: “We will arm ourselves!” Where are we going?

Answer: I believe that we are moving toward a normal world. The world is beginning to realize that it must look at itself soberly. Meaning to arm, defend, and soberly treat those who bully. And then there will be peace in the world.

I believe that everyone should be responsible for their own security, and everyone together should be responsible for the common security.

Question: What about all the calls for peace, then?

Answer: And then there will be calls for peace. Then they will actually work. How else? Our whole world is built on egoism; therefore, as long as there is no umbrella over egoism—in Kabbalah it is called a screen—nothing will happen.

Question: But this way we will get to the point where it will continue, modernize?

Answer: No, it will not continue. In fact, the aggressors are permanent. And they see what is against them, that they will not be allowed to play out, and therefore, they will shrink.

Question: Let’s say everyone sees that it is not worth bullying. And then what?

Answer: Then it will still be necessary to move toward the realization that the world should bring itself to life not from the threat of mutual destruction or such but from the fact that it needs to realize the movement toward peace, toward balance, tranquility.

Question: How does it realize this if it feels that the enemy is in front of it all the time and is rearming?

Answer: The enemy will also see that there is such a thing in front of him that is not reacting.

Question: When will we get to the point where they will say: “Stop! We have scared each other enough, now we need to slowly negotiate and turn around”?

Answer: Everyone will understand that the future of the world is in cooperation.

Question: After they become equal in strength?

Answer: No! Not equal in strength. The state of the people must change internally. They have to go through this transformation. And then they will stop scaring others and stop thinking they are exceptional.

Question: The moment will come when they will begin to disarm little by little?

Answer: Of course! It will not make sense. Thus, the world will come to the need for cooperation. And then there will really be unity.

Record of Relationship With the Creator

962.2Question: Were there any spiritual languages before the appearance of Hebrew?

Answer: No, there were not. How can there be any other language? After all, we are talking about a person’s feeling of the Creator’s impact on him.

The only thing that distinguishes a person from the Creator is an egoistic desire to receive. And if one wants to receive the impact of the Creator, one must become like the Creator and work on himself.

In this case, he can reveal the impact of the Creator on him and record it in a sensory form, that is, the influence from above to below, from right to left, from left to right, and so on. In this way, a person begins to record his relationships with the Creator.

The Difference Between a Letter and a Word

610.1Question: If I feel some influence of the Creator on me, then in order to convey this feeling to someone else I can draw a letter or several letters and it will already be a word. What is the difference between a letter and a word?

Answer: A letter expresses only one quality and a word expresses a sequence of qualities that flow from one to another and therefore express relationships.

Question: And all this was invented by people?

Answer: Nobody invented anything. Kabbalists were feeling the influence of the Creator on themselves and were recording it in such a way.

“Israelis Against the State of Israel”

Dr. Michael LaitmanFrom My Facebook Page Michael Laitman 8/12/22

When Operation Breaking Dawn broke out last Friday, Israeli journalist Gideon Levy harshly criticized Israel in an interview for the anti-Israel Al Jazeera network. Bella Hadid, an international model of Palestinian origin and a frequent basher of Israel, quickly seized the opportunity and shared the segment with her tens of millions of followers on social media. I cannot blame Israel haters for using Israelis who routinely demonize their own country, but we need to understand the origin of the self-loathing that they feel, why the fact that they are weaponizing our enemies does not deter them, and why it does not help them. Within every Israeli, there is hatred for one’s own people; it is hatred not for the people, but for the idea that Israel represents: love of others. When we resolve this hatred, we will resolve antisemitism.

On the face of it, Mr. Levy is a courageous man of integrity, justifying his enemy at his own risk. After all, he, too, could have been hurt by the more than 1,100 rockets that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad fired at Israel. Yet, Levy is not concerned about that. Being a hero in the eyes of the world is his goal, even if it is unclear where is the heroism in the act he took here with his anti-Israeli statement on an anti-Israeli network.

What is more important is that underneath the Israel bashing, there is profound hatred for Israel. Not only Israeli Israel-bashers have it, but every Israeli feels it, and in fact every Jew has that hatred. In some, it is latent, and in some, it is blatant, but no Jew escapes this inner schism.

Self-hate has been our bane throughout the history of our people, and for a good reason. Israel represents transcending the natural human disposition to care only for oneself. Being Israel means embracing mutual responsibility and solidarity with the goal of ultimately loving others as much as one loves oneself.

It is one thing to aspire for such a goal, but it is an entirely different thing to be obligated by the world to achieve it, to feel how formidable this task is, and then face the consequences of failing at it: the hatred of the world. Not surprisingly, the majority of Jews suppress the notion of mutual responsibility and love of others, or divert it toward loving their enemy and blaming their own people, hoping it will win them their enemies’ favor, which it will not.

That struggle exists in every Jew, whether one is aware of it or not. It determines one’s relation toward the State of Israel, toward the Jewish people, and toward Israel’s enemies. Israelis who hate Israel are actually sensitive to their obligation to the world but respond to it in a counterproductive manner: They want to cut their ties to the Israeli people and its obligations. However, no Israeli can be liberated from it. Therefore, they express their resentment through hatred for the State of Israel. I feel sorry for them; they are in great distress.

Such people cannot change. They feel entitled and just, superior and self-righteous. They do not feel that they are spewing hate; they believe that they are fighting against it.

You cannot reach such people’s hearts directly. The only way to influence them is by changing the entire society around them. If all of the Israeli society increases its appreciation of the Golden Rule—which is love of others—and its manifestations, it will percolate into everyone’s hearts, and people will begin to realize that being Israel, namely setting an example of unity and solidarity, is possible, and the world really does appreciate it. In such a state, it will be easier to very gradually change the hearts of Jewish Israel-bashers.

Therefore, our goal should not be to mitigate the hatred of those who demonize the State of Israel. Our goal should be to eulogize solidarity and unity to the point of loving others as much as we love ourselves. If we operate in this way, all haters of Israel will disappear, from within and from without, and we will realize that they were only here in order to galvanize us toward strengthening our unity and setting an example of love of others for the entire world.

9th of Av—An Internal View

153We need to unite among us, and as soon as we reveal that we really want to unite but are not able to do it, this will be the state of “Ruined Jerusalem,” the ruin of the Temple. We strive to unite and do not know how to do it, and therefore, we cry and ask the Creator to unite us.

We cry precisely because we are not capable of connection, or maybe even because we are not able to cry and regret it and are not able to ask for help from the Creator. Therefore, no matter how many tears we shed, the Creator does not answer us because our request is not real, not sincere. And it is called “Jerusalem in ruins.”

If we advance more and more this way, then eventually we are overwhelmed with tears of utter despair, and then the Creator corrects the connection between us and reveals Himself inside it. And that means we are coming to liberation.

The shattering lies only in the lack of connection between us. The First and Second Temples mean that even then there was an internal connection between us. We are talking only about internal categories and not external ones.

“Why does crisis bring people closer?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Why does crisis bring people closer?

I recently received a letter from a lady who explained that she and her husband had to move into their basement after their house got destroyed, and they felt liberated as a result. In her words, she wrote that “caring for others supplanted all thoughts of self,” and she continued to ask about how that happens, requesting an explanation.

Indeed, we host an inner quality where we try to escape from suffering, fear, hatred and other negative states due to our desire to feel good. As a result, we suddenly find ourselves caring about others, and we then realize that it feels right to come together.

Such states of crisis make us lose the feeling of corporeal fulfillment that we usually seek in money, honor, control and knowledge, and all we have left is spiritual fulfillment, where we fulfill ourselves by helping others, and feel like we need nothing else in our lives. It is a spiritual state that emerges out of suffering.

However, the state where crisis and suffering brings people closer together—that we then feel fulfillment in caring about others in order to run away from our problems—is only an elementary spiritual state. Later, we will care about others simply because we receive such an opportunity and feel it as our mission to do so: that we feel a strong drive to communicate the need to increase mutual care throughout the world, and that caring about each other and coming closer together also vitalizes us with new elevated harmonious, joyous and peaceful sensations. In other words, we can learn from times of crisis that caring about others and coming closer together has a special fulfillment that we previously failed to realize, but if we were to voluntarily advance ourselves to come closer together and increase mutual care in society, then we would alleviate the need for crises to bring us to such a realization. We would then progress to greater states of fulfillment, peace and harmony by attracting nature’s positive forces into our lives.

“Don’t Panic, There Is Money Behind It” (Times of Israel)

Michael Laitman, On The Times of Israel: “Don’t Panic, There Is Money Behind It

A new TV series in Israel, titled Don’t Panic, examines if Israel is prepared for events of mass destruction such as earthquakes, tsunamis, or a leak of poisonous gas. Not surprisingly, the series concludes that Israel is unprepared for any such events: There are not enough rescue personnel, residents do not know what to do in what situation, and the infrastructure in the country is inadequate in many places. Moreover, people’s response to these conclusions is usually indifference. I am not an expert, but I tend to agree with the public’s sentiment because I do not believe that the danger is as grave as the series seems to portray. I think that behind this series, and other doomsayers, is the question “Whose interest does it serve?”

I think that the interest behind these shows is to intimidate people and intimidate the country. It is true that Israel is located in an area that is prone to earthquakes, but how this issue is presented and handled depends on the interests of politicians and scientists. Some want to use the information to gain more power, and others want to use it to gain funding for their studies, so the findings are presented in a way that serves the interested parties.

Once again, we see that the problem is not the dangers that nature poses, but the dangers that the ego poses. It twists everything in its favor and warps the truth to serve itself. People sense this and therefore doubt the credibility of the information.

If we want to avoid events of mass destruction, we must deal with the root of the problem, namely our own egoism and the fact that we do not have the common good in mind, but only our own. It is not only politicians and decision makers who act this way; it is all of us. The selfishness of politicians is certainly the most conspicuous. However, it is not unique to them but a reflection of our entire society.

Consequently, if we want unbiased information, we need to change people’s attitude toward society. Without an educational process that elevates the value of concern for others above concern only for ourselves, nothing will change.

We should not say that it is impossible because until today, we have not really tried. Moreover, the idea that it is impossible is the ego’s own protection against our efforts to dethrone it from governing our society and our relationships.

This effort cannot be limited in scope. It needs to be an educational process that encompasses all of society, everywhere. The impetus for such an ambitious feat should come from the fact that we see no future, from the realization that our mutual inconsideration will destroy us unless we become considerate. If there is one truth that we should not be afraid to expose, it is that nothing is true because our egos warp our ‎perception to favor ourselves. If we do not change this, the ego will indeed bring upon us ‎mass destruction.‎

Mutual Movement

151Question: As we know, Kabbalah uses the numerical values of letters. In order to explain spiritual states, Hebrew letters were derived from the Kabbalists researching the very nature of the spiritual world. What are letters and numbers, and what is the connection between them?

Answer: There are no numbers in spirituality. There are letters that depict the movement from the upper one to the lower one, from the Creator to the created beings, to the degree in which created beings can perceive His action on themselves. Therefore, a letter is called Ot (sign), that is, an indication that a person begins to perceive the attitude of the upper force toward him.

Perception begins from the point when he desires to attain the Creator, the upper force, in the measure of his similarity. When a person reveals his desire to bestow, to give pleasure and fulfillment to the Creator, then to the extent of his ability to express it, he begins to recognize that the Creator was ready for the relationship with him from the very beginning.

It turns out that here emerges the connection between the creation and the Creator, meaning equality between the attitude of man toward the Creator and of the Creator toward man. Such a mutual movement of one toward the other leads to mutual fulfillment: a person raises his desire to the Creator, and the Creator fulfills his desire with His presence—light.

How Can You Increase the Influence of the Light on Yourself?

528.03Question: Is it possible to evoke the influence of the surrounding light to consciously understand what is happening only through the sources or are there any other methods? How can I increase the influence of the light on myself?

Answer: You can increase the influence of the light by correcting your egoism to altruism. The main condition is “Love your neighbor as yourself.” In this way, to the measure a person comes closer to this, he begins to feel the upper governing force through everything that exists around him.

Light has altruistic qualities. In order to feel it according to the law of equivalence of form, you must show the same altruistic quality to something that is outside of you, say to another person. To this extent, you will begin to feel the light.
