Comment: People write to you: “Michael Laitman, you make Kabbalah primitive when you want to reveal it to everyone. Kabbalah is for the elite, it is the inner part of the Torah. And you bring it out into the world. Don’t do it!”

My Response: I would agree with you, but the Kabbalistic books tell us something else: that the time will come—this was said thousands of years ago—when Kabbalah will be opened to everyone.

It is said in the Torah: “I will bring them to My holy mount, and I will cause them to rejoice in My house of prayer, their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be acceptable upon My altar, for My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples. So you are not entirely correct.

Question: So these are precisely Kabbalistic sayings?

Answer: Of course. The statements of King David or the ancient Kabbalists or The Book of Zohar.

Question: But this was said by Kabbalists. And to you, King David was also a Kabbalist?

Answer: Of course a Kabbalist! Comprehending the Creator, writing such things that reveal the upper world to us!

Comment: But this letter is clearly written by a person for whom there was a ban for studying Kabbalah.

My Response: That is his business.

Question: In principle, are you sure that time has come for the absolute, full disclosure of this science?

Answer: Kabbalists said that too.

Question: And the fact that you teach absolutely everyone?

Answer: It is also said about this: “Know the Lord,” for they shall all know Me from their smallest to their greatest”

Question: Do you think that that time is now?

Answer: And they said that too. I don’t say anything on my own, they all say this.

Question: Are you sure that now is the time of the last generation? Or maybe it is a mistake?

Answer: If they said so, I abide by it.

Question: And they say that this time is right now?

Answer: Yes. I was a disciple of the last great Kabbalist Rabash, and what I received from him, I carry on.

Question: Rabash had this confidence that “doors would open”?

Answer: Undoubtedly!

Comment: Still, Rabash had a small group.

My Response: He could not afford more. And I don’t feel limited by anything. Times are different now.

Comment: Yes. But you have provoked a lot of criticism upon yourself.

My Response: It doesn’t matter. It will still all work.

Question: Why exactly is today the time for disclosure?

Answer: Because the world is becoming global, integral, interconnected. And it needs the right attitude of people to people. And this is exactly what Kabbalah is talking about: how to do it, how to come to goodness and mutual love.

Question: Is this a secret inner science?

Answer: There is nothing secret. What we have not revealed is called a mystery. Therefore, science is called a mystery because it creates reality out of any mysteries.

Question: And when it says that this is the inner part of the Torah, what does it mean?

Answer: That there is that Torah which is impossible to read with just eyes, you also need to open your heart.

Question: So the time for the opening of the heart is coming now?

Answer: Yes. Opening your eyes is not enough. We are approaching such a state that the world needs the opening of hearts.

Question: In Kabbalah there are states such as descents and ascents. They say that Kabbalists rejoice in the descents. Why?

Answer: As a result of experience, practice, and Kabbalistic experience, the Kabbalist begins to understand that his descents precede the next great ascent. Therefore, he rejoices in the fall as well as in the ascent. He understands that it is impossible without this. After all, the fall is simply the opening of a greater desire into which he will then receive fulfillment.

Question: Even in Kabbalah, there is a concept that the work itself should cause joy, and this is a test. Does a person experience joy not from the future state, not from the benefits that he will receive from something, but from the work itself?

Answer: Yes. Where I am, I must try to live not in the future, but in the present. If now I am also attached to the Creator, to my companions, and fulfill my task of realizing the goal of creation, then I am still in a beautiful state and do not want anything more.

If I feel that I am in an absolutely good condition at every moment, then I am really on the right path.

Question: What is the difference between awe and fear?

Answer: Awe is caution, distance, the feeling of something unclear, maybe not very conscious, threatening something, somehow, but not yet defined. It’s like twilight states. Such anxiety happens to many, and sometimes it is difficult to say for what reason, why, and for what.

Fear, however, is already an absolutely clear, concrete feeling in a person: what I am afraid of, why, in what circumstances I can experience it, how I can avoid it, and so on.

Question: Does awe mainly relate to spiritual states?

Answer: This can be attributed to both spiritual and people’s ordinary states.

Question: What can you compare the feeling of the Creator with? With what conditions in our world, with what feelings?

Answer: Everything that we feel now—the universe, stars, our planet, humanity, etc.—is in the power of some kind of force that permeates the entire universe and controls it. Everything comes from this power and everything returns to it.

A person, as it were, enters into a dialogue with a higher power. He affects it, it affects him back through the whole world. He feels it with all his senses and in response gives a reaction or acts in a certain selective way on this force through the surrounding nature.

It is about comprehending the hidden power of nature with which a person enters into a dialogue. As a result, he develops, comprehends the higher power, becomes equal to it in knowledge, understanding, impact, in changing himself, his life. This is the goal of his development.

Question: With what can this be compared in our world?

Answer: In part, this can be compared with science because we develop sciences about our world, which help us to better know it and manage it. By this we try to improve our life somehow, although we do not quite succeed since we use science egotistically.

This is the big difference between our world and the upper world. We cannot egoistically use the upper forces, properties, and everything that we reveal. The upper world can be comprehended only to the extent that we will be altruists, that we will begin to think about the common good, but not at all about us personally.

It is this altruistic approach that is called the spiritual approach. It is characteristic of many of man’s aspirations to reveal nature, but in Kabbalah it is obligatory.

My new article on Linkedin “The United State(s) of Humanity”

America is in a state of deep scrutiny. So is humanity. Today’s America presents the future state of humanity: If the world advances the way America is advancing, we will end up being divided between two blocs that hate each other in every sense—ideologically, approach to life, culture, education, and every other way. It will be impossible to connect the adversaries, just as it is impossible to connect the Democrats with the Republicans in today’s divided United States.

We should thank the American people for setting an example that demonstrates what our future will be like unless we achieve unity among us. In other words, if we don’t achieve a united state in humanity, humanity will become like today’s United States: an assortment of nations, colors, races, and faiths that hate each other to death, and do everything they can to cater to their hatred.

As things are, there will be no calm. It seems as though things have gone out of control, but they haven’t. It is simply what happens when the ego wants to govern and will not hear of anything less than that. It does not want connection; it wants domination.

It may be horrifying to watch, but we are merely witnessing the natural process. When everything revolves around who has more and who has less, and when the ego keeps intensifying, we come to a state where the ego wants everything, and to leave absolutely nothing to the other side. This is what you get when you don’t educate people.

It doesn’t matter how much you invest in aid packages and relief programs, when the ego comes to a state of all or nothing, nothing helps. Therefore, we should thank America for the example it is giving us, at its own expense. We should thank the American people for setting an example that demonstrates what our future will be like unless we achieve unity among us. In other words, if we don’t achieve a united state in humanity, humanity will become like today’s United States: an assortment of nations, colors, races, and faiths that hate each other to death, and do everything they can to cater to their hatred.

Michael Laitman, On The Times of Israel: “Why Israel’s World Lead in Vaccination Is Meaningless”

Israel has leapt ahead of other countries in the global efforts to inoculate its population against COVID-19 with the fastest vaccination rate in the entire planet. What Israel has yet to discover is that such an effort will be ultimately useless until the nation realizes its role and capacity to cure humanity from all its illnesses, as it holds the only lasting antidote to health, (as well as the key to peace and success): our unity.

Around 12% of Israel’s population has already been vaccinated with doses of the Pfizer vaccine as a result of a well-oiled 24/7 campaign and an efficient healthcare system. Vaccine distribution efforts in Israel are by far faster and more successful compared to those of other developed countries such as the US and European nations. But as much as we would like to believe that this is the panacea to get rid of the coronavirus, we will soon discover that the miracle cure to the pandemic does not lie within the biological sphere but instead at the human level, in the right connection between people. A method for reaching that goal is the real example Israel should give to the world.

Why is this successful immunization program not enough? It is not sufficient because it gives us the false impression that only through such measures are we protected from diseases, while nature is trying to teach us that we cannot sit on our laurels until we address and fix the root cause of the problem: our lack of alignment with nature’s balance, wholeness, and perfection. Our human intolerance, hostility and egoism cause imbalance within multiple levels of nature—inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human—which negatively boomerangs back upon us in the form of diseases. Our hatred of one another thus harms the system we all share and is reflected back on us in the form of all kinds of problems and crises.

So what is the true role of Israel I have mentioned? It is to pioneer the implementation of the method for attaining unity above division between people to the point of reaching the tenet “love your neighbor as yourself.” Israel’s role is to lead the way in moving humanity toward the attainment of unity and recovering balance with nature that has been lost as a result of our fractious, egoistic and self-centered human relations.

A method for realizing this goal is set out in the wisdom of Kabbalah and this knowledge has been inherited by the people of Israel through the generations so that they will become a conduit for the worldwide expansion of unity. As Rav Yehuda Ashlag, author of the Sulam (Ladder) commentary on The Book of Zohar wrote, “It is upon the Israeli nation to qualify itself and all the people of the world to develop until they take upon themselves that sublime work of the love of others, which is the ladder to the purpose of Creation.”

As the press of nature increasingly tightens humanity’s interconnection and greater rivalry and conflict surface between people, the conditions become ripe for humanity to learn how to organize our increasing connection positively, how to unite above the growing divisions.

Jews need only come to the realization that by starting to relearn and implement our historic and unique method for achieving unity and by disseminating this know-how to all, they will bring harmony to themselves and to the world at every level of nature. Such unity will radiate a positive unifying example throughout the entire planet and then the people of Israel will truly become “a light unto the nations” (Isaiah 42:6). Therefore, Israel can and should provide the role model for humanity to follow in order to reach the goal of achieving immunity from all its suffering and pains through healthy human connection.

My new article on Linkedin “Amen and A-Woman? Gender Equality Campaign Does Not Change Nature”

On Monday, January 4, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO), concluded the opening prayer at the end of the first day of the new Congress with the words “Amen and ‘A-woman.” Even Cleaver seemed uncomfortable when asked about his alteration of the traditional conclusion of the prayer as he said to Snopes.com: “I concluded with a light-hearted pun in recognition of the record number of women who will be representing the American people in Congress.”

As I see it, the whole notion of gender equality has gone too far for something that we can’t really change. Men and women aren’t the same, just as male and female aren’t the same in nature. Our bodies, including our psyches, belong to the animal kingdom, and just as lions and lionesses behave differently, so do people.

We can decide that we want to define our gender identity one way or another way, or no way at all, but it will not make us happier. It will only keep us constantly on the edge, having to defend our choice. But nature is nature, is nature; it does not change according to our whims. If we go against nature, we suffer.

Just as it is much harder to swim upstream than downstream, it is much harder to defend false views about life than to hold truthful ones. And the fact that someone told us that one view and not the other is the view to follow doesn’t make it any truer.

There is a good reason why there are two distinct genders in nature, and both are indispensable for the success of human society, and life as a whole. Genders are not superior or inferior to each other; they are complementary! Only when we look at life from this perspective we can truly appreciate our value as human beings, the value of our partners, and the value of our relationships. When we have good relationships, we are happy people, and in the end, happiness is all we need.
