Don’t Give Up This World

Laitman_912Question: Do I understand correctly that the Kabbalists’ reluctance to talk about earthly matters is due to the fact that we have to move against the mainstream and get serious “blows”?

Answer: A Kabbalist does not renounce this world in any way. On the contrary, his mission is to explain to all of humanity how to reach spirituality from this world. And without connection of the two worlds, without being together with people, this cannot be done.

My students are scattered all over the world and they are all connected with the societies in which they live.

As for me, every week I write articles on the most current issues that are published in dozens of newspapers on the Internet and in print, in blogs, and even on Twitter.

The Path Of The Future Correction Is For All

laitman_229Question: Baal HaSulam, a man of an extraordinary height, wrote in his manuscripts about the last generation: “I have seen all that, and I can no longer restrain myself. I have resolved to disclose of my observations and of what I have found written in those books, regarding the conducts of correction of our definite future.”

What does The Last Generation mean to you? Why did you turn precisely to these manuscripts?

Answer: Because it is a vital realization of what is happening today in our generation.

We are at a critical stage of development; the previous egoistic history of humanity is coming to an end and the time has come when humanity must rise to the next level and thereby change itself and the surrounding world. In fact, our entire world is what we represent: what we see and what exists in our sense organs. When we rise to a new level, we will see a completely different world.

The material world will gradually disappear from our senses. It is even called an imaginary world. We will start to exist in the next dimension that we will imagine just as we imagine the present one.

The “spiritual special forces” will be the first to enter the upper world. The others will follow them. Moreover, the “special forces” will develop themselves in a directed, forceful way, working on their adaptation to the new degrees of nature, and all others will be pulled after them.

“You Shall Do According To All That The Levite Priests Instruct You”

laitman_937Torah, Deuteronomy 24:8: …You shall do according to all that the Levite priests instruct you…

The priests (Cohens) and the Levites were engaged in teaching, educating, and serving the population. They did not sit and wait for people to come to receive a blessing; they traveled across the country, teaching people to read and write.

Therefore, there were no illiterate people in the nation of Israel. Since Moses received the Torah, everyone was obliged to study it. And the Jews received their literacy from Abraham after they had exited Babylon.

It was the absence of illiteracy that distinguished Jews from other peoples. It was believed that a man who did not teach his son makes him a thief.

Everyone had to know what laws are described in the Torah, how to implement them, and how to interact with other people. Jews studied the judicial system and the tax system because everyone had to participate in it.

Moreover, they had to implement the laws of the Torah not only on the internal level, but also in everyday life: the laws of kashrut, cultivation of the land, etc.

Jews knew the Torah, the Scriptures (Ketuvim), the Mishnah, and the Talmud by heart. They were inside each of them. They were taught to people without any textbooks, because only the Tanakh (Torah, Neviim, Ketuvim) were written on paper, and the rest were not.

This knowledge was a daily code of life for a person, and they knew how to interact with others. Therefore, the goal of priests and Levites was to educate everyone.

At the age of two, a child was taught the alphabet, at three – reading, at five -the Torah and the Mishnah, by nine he already knew all the laws, and by the age of 13 he had to know everything that he needs for life.

Kidnapping His Brother

Laitman_631_4Torah, Deuteronomy 24:7: If a man is discovered kidnapping any person from among his brothers, of the children of Israel, and treats him as a slave and sells him that thief shall die, so that you shall clear out the evil from among you.

This is absolutely forbidden and obviously can not happen because of the principle “love your neighbour as yourself.” And among the nations of the world, people were kidnapped at all times.

The Torah speaks about inner attitude: you can not use your uncorrected or corrected desires egoistically.

For example, if you’ve achieved certain success in working on yourself and suddenly egoism is manifested in you and says: “Let’s turn whatever you succeeded in into a business, or a pleasant pastime. You deserved it,” then by this, you kill everything you did.

This is called “to kidnap your brother,” and to sell him. If your egoistic desire wants to work within you this way, you must destroy it.

Why Was Man Given A Mind?

laitman_610_3Question: If the desire is primordial and controls us, how can the mind assess, operate, and control desires?

Answer: Man was actually given a mind in order to perceive his desires, to want to correct them, somehow think of how to adapt them to the Creator’s desires, and ask for power from above that is called the Surrounding Light (Ohr Makif), which will correct his desires.

Thus, a person asks for his desires to be brought in line with the Creator, to receive the forces that correct these desires, and to begin to ask the Creator to perform the right actions even before he fulfills them. It turns out that a person constantly advances before the Creator.

Question: Can a person control his desires?

Answer: Theoretically, yes.

Question: Can a Kabbalist manage his thoughts?

Answer: A Kabbalist can manage his thoughts to the extent that they are connected to the Creator. This means that he should perpetually raise his desires to adhesion with the Creator.
