Shavuot

laitman_740_03Shavuot is the holiday of the giving of the Torah. But what is the Torah? What, in fact, were we given at Mt. Sinai?

The Torah is not a chronicle of the events of the past; on the contrary, it describes the moment when our future is being decided. The Torah is the instruction on how to become mutual guarantors for each other. By accepting it, we lived together on our land. By rejecting it, we were dispersed among the nations.

Shavuot, like all Jewish holidays, carries a call to action. It is full of light and whiteness, but it is not easy. In fact, we are slowly but surely being pressed against the mountain. The mountain of our own hatred.

And if we suddenly realize how our egoism is tearing us to pieces, if trying to unite into something complete, we face an insurmountable internal schism, that’s when we need help, we need the Torah.

“And Israel camped against the mountain.” Not some refugees from ancient Egypt who camped in the desert. Everyone, no matter where they live, what people they belong to, whatever faith they confess, stand at the foot. There is one nationality: a man. And the heart is one for all.

Education Is An Integral System

laitman_938_01Question: Does the teacher, the educator, need to be corrected?

Answer: The educator has to be educated all the time. No one can say that he has already grown and reached the upper level.

Upbringing is a perpetual, continuous process of self-education, educating others, and self-education under the influence of others. It is about a whole integral system that includes all of humanity and absolutely everything, even the souls that are no longer with us.

Is Thought Tangible?

laitman_284_02Question: Is a thought tangible?

Answer: A thought is not material, it does not exist in a person, neither does his desire. We are a kind of modem, a kind of organ of sensation of thoughts and desires— mind and heart—that exist outside of us inside the system surrounding us.

And we only let a certain micro-dose of the common mind and heart (desire) pass through us to some extent. This is what is called our thought and our desires.

There is nothing of his own inside a person. All this passes through us, and our brain reacts similarly to our heart that reacts with blood pressure changes and other things, so it seems to us that this appears inside us.

Question: Does this mean that information is power? That when it passes through our desires and the brain, we see part of it in the form of the material world?

Answer: When it passes through me, through my mind and heart, I draw a picture of myself and the surrounding world. And Kabbalah enables me to see pure information.

Why Do Our Own Children Grow Up And Become Strangers?

laitman_600_04Question: I am mother of four children and the issues of upbringing are very relevant to me. My two older children are already adults. Why do I raise my children and they grow up and turn into strangers with different views?

Answer: Because there is no education. I understand your pain, but this is so.

We still need to try to educate children in such a way that they won’t disconnect from us, that they would be attached to us and won’t go far as once children stayed with their parents and continued to work with them in the field or in the family business.

You must make sure that you are friends, don’t lose sight of each other and stay physically close to each other.

I hope that the small Kabbalistic community that we have created takes such a form. And everyone who study with us will find that everything happens this way in their lives, their children don’t go far away from them, not to other countries or other cities.

A Man Of Impromptu

laitman_599_01Comment: I have known you for more than twenty years. You always answer questions spontaneously without knowing them in advance.

My Response: I am a man of impromptu, not because I know everything, but because I cannot do things differently.

When someone asks me a question by surprise, a different level of consciousness is turned on in me. According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, it cannot be otherwise. It isn’t only me, but it is the same for any other Kabbalist. Each time a different image is born inside a Kabbalist from which he develops his thought.

I never say anything that I have read somewhere. I can bring such facts to support my ideas, but I always have to speak from what is being born inside me at that specific moment out of a new Partzuf, 10 Sefirotwith all its internal attributes and connections. If this doesn’t exist, you are dead.

Sometimes when I have to lecture before a very demanding audience, like for example before an audience of professors, lecturers, and students, an audience of 1,500 people, I prepare in advance. But I still don’t read from notes I have prepared. The notes are only the general guidelines of my lecture.

One Year Of Freedom

Laitman_509Torah, Deuteronomy 24:5: When a man takes a new wife, he shall not go out in the army, nor shall he be subjected to anything associated with it. He shall remain free for his home for one year and delight his wife, whom he has taken.

Usually after the wedding, a man did not have to bother with work too much because in the first year of family life, everybody helps him. And a year later, everything was as usual: family, children, and hard work.

In a person’s spiritual work, this means a cycle during which you perform a right action of correction with a particular desire (wife) and it is considered a year. During the year of working with the desire, you completely treat with your intention everything that is associated with it.

Year (Shana), from the word Leshanot (to repeat, to change), is when you reach the starting point. It means that each year is a new degree.
