Question: Why do we need the desires of the animate level if we don’t correct them? What’s their use?
Answer: We need these desires to exist outside of the spiritual world. They give us the opportunity to ascend without being dependent on the spiritual world, without being bribed by it.
This allows us to live without “spiritual favors.” We continuously decide whether or not we should unite with our neighbors, the group. Sometimes we want to drop everything and leave, and we really do have that opportunity.
On the other hand, if we only had desires related to the group, we would be similar to, say, ants. Without having anything else, we would live the life of society involuntarily, and would again be on the animate, bodily level.
However, I live in my body and can aspire to spirituality or not aspire to it. This allows me to be a spiritual person because I reach the form of bestowal on my own, in spite of my natural, initial desire. The Creator made the evil inclination in me so that by overcoming it, I would become a free person. And I decide whether I want this or not by my own free choice.
Otherwise I would live in the spiritual world, but on the animate level. I would be an “angel”—a “spiritual animal” that instinctively loves everyone.

In the News (from American Free Press): “In November 2010, CNBC’s Eamon Javers had this to say about last year’s exercise: ‘Ever since the crash of 2008, the defense-intelligence establishment has been paying a lot of attention to global markets and how they can serve as a threat to U.S. national security interests.’
“Javers went on to report: ‘The Army is having a very interesting yearlong exercise called Unified Quest 2011. In that war-gaming series, the Army is looking at the implications of a large-scale economic breakdown in the U.S. that would force the Army to keep domestic order amid civil unrest and deal with global fragmented power and drastically lower budgets.’
“Officials picked the scenario of a worldwide economic collapse because it was deemed a plausible course of events given the current global security environment. In such a future, the United States would be broke, causing a domino effect that would push economies across the globe into chaos.”
“According to Army Lt. Col. Mark Elfendahl, these were some of the conclusions drawn during a three-day session connected to that exercise: ‘The Army would have to significantly alter its ‘investment portfolio,’ focusing on light and inexpensive forces… an increased focus on domestic activities might be a way of justifying whatever Army force structure the country can still afford.’
“‘The only silver lining,’ concluded the article, is that ‘the Army would have an influx of qualified recruits as the result of an unemployment rate of 25 and 30 percent.’
“Tracing the government’s contingency plans back even further—to 2008—we find The Washington Post and Russia Today both reporting on the Pentagon’s plans to train 20,000 troops by 2011 to help as a response to threats of a possible mass terror attack or civil unrest following an economic collapse.
“In July, Shepard Ambelas wrote for the popular alternative news website The Intel Hub that the Pentagon’s 2008 announcement dovetails ‘into the current troop and equipment movements around the country reported by truckers as well as many troop sightings by citizens.’”
My Comment: Namely in order to prevent clashes between exasperated citizens and the authorities, we suggest creating a wide education and upbringing network for newly unemployed and, in general, for all citizens in advance. Only this will allow everyone to understand the new world that is being born and what exactly the new circumstances require from us. This will help us go through the birth of the new society of mutual guarantee peacefully.

In the News (from Discover Magazine): “New research suggests the mere act of walking through a doorway helps people forget, which could explain many millions of confusing moments that happen each day around the world. A study published recently in The Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology found that participants who walked through doorways in a virtual reality environment were significantly more likely to forget memories formed in another room, compared with those who traveled the same distance but crossed no thresholds.
“Notre Dame University researcher Gabriel Radvansky says doorways serve as a type of ‘event boundary’ that the brain uses to separate and store memories. When you enter a new room, your brain updates its understanding of what’s going on in the new environment, which takes some mental effort. This parsing of memory, albeit subtle, leaves the information encoded in the other room (i.e. ‘Now I’m going to my room to fetch some knickers’) less available in your new location.”
My Comment: In Kabbalah, this is called “change your place, change the force, controlling it.” There are three factors that determine one’s state: time, movement, and space, which we can change by affecting them with the Light.

My Comment: Unemployment and inequality will continue to grow until market capitalism is replaced by the system of mutual guarantee with reasonable consumption. We can come to it through wars or through a deliberate change.

Opinion: (Stanley Fischer, Bank of Israel Governor): “Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer believes the Israeli economy is in a ‘relatively good condition’ compared to the global economic crisis.

My Comment: I present a variety of “opinions” so that later we can see how mistaken a person is in the vision of the world he lives in.

Spirituality Instead Of Drugs!
Question: How can we help each other at this convention so that everyone will be able to rise above himself?
Answer: First of all, if I am thinking about rising above myself, thus I help others. It is enough that I “plug” my personal “hole at the bottom of the boat.” This is one thing.
Second, if I think about others and care about them, I help them. Third, my concern for others is expressed in the fact that I see my friends who have invested so much effort, time, strength, and money against many disturbances, and I want to reach such a state when my effort contributes to their spiritual attainment because they deserve more than I do.
I am concerned that they do not disconnect from the correct intentions, true desires, the connection between us. In my desire, I am so worried that they do not “fall” and think only about that.
This concern is the best protection possible in our state, and it ensures that not a single person falls out of this mutual guarantee between us, and we are always above our ego. Everyone should be on alert, thinking only about his friends, like a mother who cares about all her children.

Rabbi Moshe Chaim Ephraim, Degel Machaneh Efraim: It is best to be always united…when they unite below, they cause their root above to unite too.
What does it mean that by uniting below, we cause our root above to unite too? The moment we unite, we oblige our upper one to unite. We know this from the structure of the upper system: Above us, there is a Partzuf that cares about us, called Aba ve Ima (father and mother), Hochma and Bina, and above it, there is Keter, the Creator. Hochma and Bina are two parts, two desires, two attributes, Hassadim and Hochma.
Through our desire to connect, we give rise to the connection between them. Without this, they are “turned away” from each other, that is, they are not connected to each other, and so the Light is not revealed within the creature.
The moment we want to unite, we arouse their connection. Then, the Light passes through them to us and fills us. Thus, when we connect below, we call upon the connection in the upper one, and it brings the Light from Keter through Aba ve Ima (Hochma and Bina) to us, to ZON (Zeir Anpin and Nukva). And this is how we reach correction.
So, it is all achieved by our connection, and not even in the connection itself, but in our desire to connect. We have to desire with all our might to connect with each other, to try to unite. The connection is carried out from Above. The Light comes and connects the desires.
Whenever we feel a desire to connect or the lack thereof, we should realize our yearning to be one. When we feel different disturbances, even the slightest and weakest ones, it is important to pay attention to them and to build the connection on top of them.
Then, we will rise above the great mass of small disturbances that separate us and will finally arouse the first connection between the upper Aba ve Ima so that they will pass onto us the Light of Hochma dressed in the Light of Hassadim. With the help of the Light of Hassadim, we will acquire the intention to bestow, the Light of Hochma will fill the intention, and then we will feel the upper reality.
This should really happen and be felt inside us. It all depends on our efforts. We will do it! So, whatever we do, let’s devote all the time during the convention to being above the body all the time, above all personal thoughts. I want to “lose” myself in others, I want to feel “we,” and not “me,” “you,” or “him.” I want to feel us connected into one whole: one desire and one thought and try to hold on to that as hard as I can.
It’s like a weight lifter who needs to lift a weight above his head and hold it for several moments. This is enough—he has reached the desired result. It is the same with us. All of us together have to raise our desires and thoughts above us, hold them together for one moment, and it will happen!

Question: In the post “Clearing the Darkness” you talk about the need to explain to the world what is happening. People simply need a method! Do you have a method that you can explain in simple words? I didn’t hear it yet, but maybe you or your students can explain it to me like to a five year old? What is this method practically?
Now the lessons are split in lots of small parts that barely connect. It’s very confusing what you are offering.
Answer: I hope that your friends will help you find simple explanations from my lessons—sometimes I don’t succeed in this. But we do not explain this to the world at all because it wants only egoistic fulfillments it can understand.
Question: If the Creator is pure bestowal and has no will to receive, how can He want anything? A want signifies deficiency, which violates “there is none else besides Him.” So to talk about what He wants from us is nonsense since He has everything, there is no deficiency!
Answer: In relation to us, the upper one is perceived as the force that wishes to bestow, fill, and love, as the force that created everything and guides everything towards a set goal. Since it wants to bestow, it means that it feels a lack of such opportunity, senses a deficiency, as it said: “More than the calf wants to suckle the cow wants to feed.”
