The Main Thing Is to Awaken the Upper Light

945World Kabbalah Convention “Connecting to Lishma,” Lesson 4

Question: How can one bare one’s heart for a perfect prayer when egoism does not allow one to be honest with oneself?

Answer: It does not matter whether egoism allows it or not. When we are in an environment like a convention, our main goal is to awaken the upper light. Then it will become clear to us how far we are from the collective attainment of the Creator.

We must never look back and think, “How can I achieve this? This is holding me back and that is holding me back.” Nothing is holding us back! Even the most difficult questions that arise do so only to push us to rise above them and take another step forward.

Question: And what is that step right now?

Answer: That we unite even more and take this step together.

Pass Light of the Convention to the Ten

232.01Question: This is my first time at the convention, and I am feeling excitement and awe. I can’t put into words the love and emotions I am experiencing here. But my ten had no opportunity to come, so I brought them with me in my heart.

What can I do to make my ten feel the love and light I have experienced here?

Answer: Immerse yourself as much as possible in what you feel here so that this sensation penetrates you as deeply as possible. Your ten will feel it through your heart. You’ll see, they will feel it.

Think and Feel Like Friends

767.2Question: If each person becomes a guarantor for another, does that mean personal needs completely disappear? Or is there still space for individual effort and responsibility?

Answer: Even though we unite and each person wants to be a guarantor for others, in the end, we discover our collective mutual responsibility. By coming together, we fulfill our common desire.

Question: How does this collective responsibility affect the personal freedom and independence of each individual?

Answer: It does not. We simply begin to think, perceive, and feel as a group of friends. They all unite within our heart, and it expands. So, let’s move forward and experience this.

Question: How can one expand their heart to include all the hearts of the world Kli? Or should one, instead, include their heart into the hearts of others?

Answer: No, you should expand your heart by genuinely desiring to be together with others in a single common desire and intention.

Questions about Spiritual Work—226

231.01World Kabbalah Convention “Connecting to Lishma,” Lesson 4

Question: It is said that we should pray for the strength of faith in order to come to Lishma. But faith is the sensation of the Creator. How can we avoid getting confused and ensure that faith is not just our fantasy?

Answer: We need to strive for the revelation of the Creator. Gradually such aspirations and motivations will form in a person that will lead him to contact with the Creator. So you should keep going.

Question: If a person’s mind is not able to understand what Lishma is, how can he practically enter the work?

Answer: By trying to rise through the degrees of the spiritual ladder, a person perceives different states that will lead him to Lishma.

Question: Why do we detach ourselves from the external world and not ask the Creator to correct it? Is this not important? Or can we not help the world until we ourselves reach Lishma?

Answer: First we need to independently reach Lishma, and then from that degree draw all the living beings in the world toward it. That is how it works.

Serve the Upper Lights

232.05Question: How does the addition of Aviut, which is necessary for further advancement, relate to restriction, to the state of Katnut, which is when I don’t want the great lights, but want to serve the small ones?

Answer: When we rise and desire to make a restriction in order to ascend to a higher degree, the light that acts at this upper level also restricts us. So there is no contradiction between rising to a higher light and its restriction.

Question: So it’s not my actions, not my decisions, but the influence of the light on my readiness?

Answer: Yes, you only decide: yes or no.

Advance into the Depth of the Common Heart

929Question: We are creating a common heart with our efforts. But without the Creator’s force, it is just a heart. How can we invite the Creator into it and ask Him to sustain it?

Answer: Indeed, it depends entirely on the Creator. And the Creator’s response depends solely on our desire and our request. Our request, in turn, depends on how consistently we remain in it.

So it all comes down to us, our desire, our plea, our prayer, that determines how much we can form a common vessel (Kli) where everyone feels as if they are inside their own heart, filled with the desires and actions of all.

Today, I have already observed several friends, both men and women, who have changed significantly during this time. You will see how, over these two days, we will go deeper into our hearts, into our thoughts, and reach the level of faith above reason.

The Work of the Sages

961.2World Kabbalah Convention “Connecting to Lishma,” Lesson 2

Question: What is the role of a sage in relation to the creatures in our world?

Answer: By sage we mean a person who reaches the level of the Creator in his attainment.

A sage is obliged to teach the creatures, to help them rise above themselves, and to unite with each other. He sees this as his mission.

Question: So we can use the work that the sage did before us?

Answer: Of course, this is what we study. All our lessons are dedicated solely to this.

Question: How do I check myself whether I believe in the sages or not? What if I trust myself?

Answer: If you read the primary sources and completely agree with what is written in them, it means that you believe, not yourself, but the one who wrote them.

Deepen the Kli of the Ten

528.01Question: How can we translate the width of the Kli we created at the congress into depth?

Answer: I do not think you can make such actions yet. But you will be able to very soon.

In the meantime, it is important to try to reproduce the sensitivity you experienced at the congress. You should lift this out of your heart as often as possible because if there is a suitable time and you do not use it to revive the states you have experienced, you are robbing yourself.

Question: You said that faith in the sages expands the Kli and makes it more subtle. What is a more subtle Kli?

Answer: It is a stronger Kli that is capable of absorbing all the sensations and changes in the ten and raising it to the level it was at the congress.

In order for you to have a more subtle Kli, each member of your ten must try to always be ahead of everyone or at least care about its sensations.

Question: What is the relationship in the work of a subtle Kli to the thickness of the revealed Aviut?

Answer: There is an infinitely large distance between them.
