Even from an ordinary point of view without getting into sophisticated materials, we see that there is a problem with the Israeli nation. It is special, it is wise and brings many innovations to the world. To a certain extent the world owes this nation its development in many areas. For ages this nation has done so much for humanity, but at the same time, the attitude towards it is totally the opposite: Instead of thanking it, it is blamed, punished, and suppressed in different ways.

The Israeli nation has laid the foundations of culture, education, and religions. It brought humanity morality even in barbaric times, but no one really notices that. Apparently there is a reason for that, subconsciously the Jews are not treated as any other nation, although people look for different real justifications for that; in fact, it all stems from an inner claim. People feel something against the Jews, and especially against the Israeli nation as a whole, although it is so dispersed, that sometimes it is hard to call it a “nation.”

The whole world is trying to solve this mystery. There are many opinions regarding this issue, some are true and some are less accurate. But it is in the wisdom of Kabbalah that we clearly find both the question and the answer about the special attitude towards the Jews. The wisdom of Kabbalah accurately explains how the Israeli nation is different, what its attributes are, what its debt to the world is, and how it can correct the situation: how it can “pay the bill” in order to make up for what is missing and reach the right correction and existence.

This is especially relevant in our days, when the Jewish nation has received its small “estate” on earth and is still unable to build the right conditions to exist.

There is an additional problem here—this nation, by nature, wants to be in good relations with others; it is ready to connect to and befriend any other nation; it would like to be in the same line with everyone and even inferior than everyone else, just to treat them well.

But everyone disrespects and rejects it. It is impossible to buy such a positive attitude with money, and it is impossible to constantly defend ourselves from enemies when part of the world comes to us with accusations and physical attacks and another part puts different kinds of pressure on us: ideologically, politically, personally, etc.

So there is a special phenomenon in the world, which different philosophers, politicians, and writers have studied, but no one understands the essence and the root of the matter, since the root of this phenomenon has always been concealed. It is great anti-Semitists like Henry Ford who managed to understand to a certain extent the reason for their feelings. They looked for them by trying to balance the feeling with the mind and to understand where their strong hate stemmed from, to study themselves and to find the source of this special attribute. Then, besides the negative attitude, they also found quite a few true and positive things in the Israeli nation, but it didn’t correct them.

They should understand that even if the world discovers the real reason for the negative attitude, they don’t correct the world by that. They have to perform different actions in the world in order to correct their attitude. And on the contrary, when they don’t correct themselves, they actually give birth to hate and anti-Semitism. So there is nothing to blame the world for; the whole thing is about their delay in keeping up with the “schedule of the corrections.”

My Comment: Today, a strong shock is needed to begin a war. Everyone is afraid of it and agrees to suffer. It is profitable only for the elite… It should be brought to the attention of everyone that we all face one condition: the need to achieve mutual connection—mutual guarantee.

We, humanity, are a constantly and rapidly developing part of nature. New laws appear in our society. Since recently, the law of our mutual connection is manifested more and more. We have to observe it; otherwise, we will increasingly feel opposed to nature in the form of various crises, suffering, and disasters. Wars will not help; we will have nothing to share. Humanity will lead itself to death. This is one of the ways predicted by the biblical prophets.

The wisdom of Kabbalah discloses to all of humanity in general and to each of us in particular a mandatory step-by-step pathway of advancement that conforms to absolute laws of nature, and leads us up from our current state to the end of correction. Kabbalah explains which tools help us follow this path and what forces act upon us while we inevitably advance in accordance with the will of nature, as well as when we self-develop due to our conscious, mindful participation and willful contribution to the process. We discover all parts of reality, from the current state to the end of correction, in the system called “the wisdom of Kabbalah.”

Hence, no other science is more important or more important to us, especially now that we have already completed development on the inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels. Previously, we could not learn the wisdom of Kabbalah and use it; that’s why it was hidden from us. However, as soon as we become able to implement it and contribute its natural, timely development in order to accelerate it, in other words, as soon as we voluntarily hasten our growth, understand, and are aware of it, at this point, the wisdom of Kabbalah is revealed to us and obliges us to implement it.

Here of course, we have to admit that we can’t continue developing the way we used to because we have reached the period of conscientious and mindful development in every step of the way. Without our awareness and active participation, we won’t advance from one state to another, nor will we climb to a higher level. At the speaking developmental stage, it’s absolutely impossible to advance “automatically” as on the inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels, when we were growing up under the impact of mandatory forces.

It’s similar to transitioning from the first grade to the second: If I’m not ready for it, I’ll be left for the second or third year of studies in the same grade. I’ll be punished for that, I won’t be allowed to play games, eat cakes, etc., until I complete all the lessons. I have to finish the first grade on my own.

It doesn’t work as at the previous developmental stages, which didn’t require any personal contribution. One must not advance as an animal, but as a human being, acquiring wisdom and the sense of consciously participating in the process.

If humanity continues to act in the old way, it will trigger new disasters so as to finally understand the necessity of conscious progress. We have to feel and understand the rules of our development and see the goal before us, and pursue it.

This is why the world won’t advance without the wisdom of Kabbalah, nor will it develop without picking it up from us and using it accordingly. Otherwise, it just will not happen. Woes will continue and people will suffer until they eventually hear and understand our message. This is the requirement of our era.

We, on the other hand, must show the most friendly, sympathetic, and gentle attitude while presenting a Kabbalistic methodology in various forms of offering our methodology to make it easier for everybody to absorb it. We must focus on the the user, as it is said: “Educate a child according to his own way.”

Nevertheless, until the people of Israel and the whole world closely connect with the wisdom of Kabbalah, disasters will continue in order to motivate everybody to search for it.

Rav Kook, “The Lights,” “The War,” Item 9: The building of the world that is collapsing now before the terrible storms of the blood filled sword requires the building of the Israeli nation. The building of the nation and the revelation of its spirit is one thing, and it is connected to the building of the world that is falling apart and that is expecting a force that is united and supreme, and it is all in the soul of Knesset Israel. The spirit of the Creator is filled with it and it is impossible for man’s spirit, whose feeling of the soul is throbbing in him, to be calm in this great hour, without calling all the great forces of the nation: Wake up and rise to fulfill your role.

Things will not be corrected and will not improve unless the people of Israel understand their special role regarding themselves, regarding the whole world, and regarding the Creator and their obligation to everyone. This is the law of nature, which does not depend on our consent and doesn’t require our consent.

We will have to keep this law no matter what, either by the path of the Light or by the path of suffering. Humanity has to reach an equivalence of form with the Creator, and we are the part that is obligated to start the correction for everyone and to lead them by setting an example for the other nations. We have to acknowledge our mission and to accept it, either willingly by agreeing, understanding, and taking on the responsibility or by pressure of the general hatred that will be revealed towards us, the troubles, the problems, and the sufferings of the development press that is pressuring us.

We will have to acknowledge that the whole method of correction that leads us from the love of others to the love of the Creator is called the wisdom of Kabbalah. This wisdom tells about the connection among us, about the network of connections among us in which all of reality is included, the whole system of the worlds. By building and discovering the connection among us we discover the upper spiritual reality that is above the egoistic corporeal reality in which we are living today.

We will have to understand that the wisdom of Kabbalah is not about red strings, as the nonreligious believe, and not about creating statues that were already shattered in the days of Abraham, not mysticism, which religious people imagine, not blessings, and not prayers so that everything will change for my own good, except for me. So no one is thinking about self-correction, but rather they are asking for egoistic changes: not that I should change, but that everything around will change for my own good.

However, the wisdom of Kabbalah is God’s work by which, with help of the upper Light, with the help of the attribute of bestowal, we will want to change ourselves in faith above reason, in order to resemble the upper force and to reach an equivalence of form with it, to reach adhesion. This means to become Adam (human), which means “similar” to the Creator (Domeh), which has the same root in Hebrew.

This is what we should aim all the forces of the nation at, as Rav Kook says here: Only in the revelation of these forces will we reach the creation of the spirit of the nation and the assembly of all the souls of Israel, “Knesset Israel.” Then we will become a “nation of priests and a holy nation” for the whole world; we will become an example and guides for everyone.

Question: Is the state of war Israel is in now actually a result of the actions of upper forces, of the coupling of spiritual systems (Partzufim)?

Answer: This was caused by the delay in our corrections and because we didn’t draw the Light that Reforms by them, so that it could create a much higher coupling than the one that takes place automatically in the world of Atzilut without our intervention.

Unless we study Kabbalah and draw more of the Light that Reforms to the world, this will continue in the same manner. It is like a person who lives and dies—that’s how it will constantly alternate: One time war, one time truce, but essentially nothing will change.

We know very well that time passes and nothing changes. At best we will have a truce for several years and then things will get worse. Then we will discover that it isn’t ten thousands missiles that are aimed at us, like today, but millions, and much more powerful ones. So what will we do then? There is no chance we can succeed.

The Creator will arrange these situation for us over and over again until we finally understand that a special decision must be taken here, not a rational one, but above our reason. After all, this problem cannot be solved by our corporeal mind. It is only possible by unity, by which we draw the Light that Reforms.

If we constantly speak about it and act accordingly, people will gradually begin to perceive and to absorb this idea, when they feel that this is a realistic idea and that it is the only way to be saved.

After all, even if we are not being attacked by missiles, we are still at a state of war, not only a revealed war but a cold war as well. We cannot calm down for a moment under the conditions of the internal and the external threat. War is our permanent state, the reflection of the endless coupling of the forces in the upper worlds. That’s the way it will be unless we participate in it and turn it to the good.

War is the permanent state of this world. The whole world is in a state of endless war. How can it be otherwise if our ego is constantly looking for ways to hurt others, to beat, and to destroy? We are constantly looking for new conquests for it, which means that we are carrying on an endless war.

Thus we are being pushed from Above to the recognition of our evil inclination. Everything comes from the Creator, since if we are opposite from the upper worlds, how else can we receive this action? There is an endless coupling in the world of Atzilut, in endless bestowal and love, but when this illumination reaches us we turn it around to its absolute opposite form.

The most loving mother must punish her child if he doesn’t listen to her, since he may hurt himself otherwise. On her part this action comes out of love, but when he receives it, it turns into a blow.

Question: We disseminate our ideas so that the whole world will reach connection, but in the meantime there are many wars and conflicts all over the world. What can we do so that the connection will take place now?

Answer: First of all, we have to bring about connection among the people of Israel. With regard to the correction, whatever happens in the land of Israel, will also happen all over the world. All the problems in every part of the world, whether in Sudan or in the Basque region of Spain, will stop when the problems encountered by the people of Israel stop. This is where the root of everything is, and if we correct it, the whole world will calm down.

This is the reason that all the nations of the world blame the Jews: “Your are to blame that we feel bad.” And they are right. By that we should understand where the correction is: The abundance that the Nation of Israel can draw will flow through it to the world. In this general system, this nation is the link to the Light, but they cannot draw the Light only for themselves, they have to hold on to the intention for the whole world. Then the whole world will be peaceful.

On the other hand, as long as the Israeli nation doesn’t draw the Light, our enemies will not leave us, since the problem is actually not our enemies or our friends, but this is how the Creator awakens the Israeli nation to draw the Light for the whole world. Then the world will become similar to the Creator.

Question: So what do we lack in order to reach connection?

Answer: Just to be a bit wiser. We cannot digest this yet; we don’t see the system that way in order to understand that, we simply have no other choice. The general mutual connection remains invisible.
For example, there are still arguments about cutting Greece off from the EU, and although the Europeans already understand that it will only lead to new problems, they are still managed by financial considerations. They cannot take into account the real troubles that are expected.

Individuals, nations and all of humanity have not yet “digested” the globalization of the mutual connection of the general system. We are the problem, since we cannot disseminate the method correctly. We think that it is enough to simply study. In the meantime the inner fire is growing, and we are nearing an explosion. On a global scale and with regards to the Israeli nation the situation is very worrisome…

Nature is a circle; it’s perfect. At this time, nature impacts us integrally. This conclusion derives from laws of nature and is supported by sociology, physics, and other sciences. Therefore, our society must reach the same condition and become global, closed, rounded, and integral. Everybody must depend on each other.

Look at what is happening in the world now. Today, it is enough to isolate any particular country, and it will perish. It will not endure on its own. Look at Iran or some other countries. They completely depend on everyone and everything. We are unable to break these liaisons.

Afflictions push our society from behind toward integrity. It should become as rounded as nature itself. Integrality means that we must reach balance and equality with each other.

Practically, everyone must live at the same financial level and work hard on making equality and mutual interdependence stable. Nature will push us toward it quite strongly. So far, we haven’t realized it. Therefore, we will be getting more impediments until we come to understand this fact.

How do we achieve this? If we continue using only the remedies that currently are available to us, this process will be very complicated. However, if we approach the problem from the point of view of Kabbalah, then it will be relatively smooth since the Kabbalah methodology allows us to achieve it without too much trouble and makes it almost effortless. Kabbalah explains and vividly demonstrates that the current state of affairs in the world obligates us to live according to standards of reasonable consumption.

By all means, a person must have a house, a family, a job, a car—everything that a normal human being needs at this time—but anything that is beyond this level is extra. We should not allow lavishness any more.

Nature will force us toughly by setting up catastrophes. It is obvious, and we have almost exhausted nature. Soon, all natural resources will be drained away, and we won’t be able to satisfy our needs any longer, not to mention those of our children and grandchildren. For them, there will be nothing left at all. The integral laws of nature tell us about it.

Nowadays, integral upbringing should replace our current paradigm, our current perception, of the world through integral education. We must begin to educate people to understand in order to see the world differently. Since we all are at the mercy of one another, we should naturally change our nature to the fullest interaction with each other.

Here, the Biblical appeal, “Love thy neighbor as thyself,” comes to mind. It is obvious that we simply cannot abide without this verse. It is inevitable that we eventually will achieve this state, but it is important whether we will get there forcefully or voluntarily, consciously and smoothly.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is meant to help us realize these things and, thus, avoid severe blows of destiny. It helps us move ahead in a kind and mild way, which eventually will allow us to win.

What, in fact, shall we win? We will transition to a new level of existence, to another dimension. At this time, we all are at the animate level. Animals take care of each other and of their bodies. We also take care of our relatives, friends, and of our bodies as well.

In other words, we do not rise above the animate level, whereas the “speaking” (human) level—called Adam, from the word “Domeh” (similar to the Creator)—is analogous to the force of bestowal and love. This level is quite different from the one where we are currently, and we still must ascend to it.

Egoism pressures us, holding us in its slavery and not letting us rest. Every moment we continue doing selfish calculations in its favor with no end to it. How can we escape from this slavery? By all means of establishing ourselves stronger in this demand, that we are in the group, study, and participate in events, dissemination, workshops, gathering of friends, and festive meals only to obtain the force of bestowal. This is called faith.

A person experiences the suffering of Job which is the symbol of unbearable human suffering, revealing all of his egoistic nature to the deepest level and discovering that he can do nothing with it. No matter how much he checks himself, he won’t find a single grain that will bring forth something good. This is called the suffering of Job that can’t be overcome and somehow healed because in fact it’s impossible to find any clue in our nature from which correction could begin. That is, we have no power by means of which it would be possible to perform the actions of bestowal.

But it’s said that the Creator created the evil inclination and the Torah as a means to correct it. That is, there is a remedy: the upper force, the Reforming Light that comes to a person on condition that he requires correction. All that we need is to discover our plea, and then the Light will affect us.

A plea is a desire, the need to be corrected. It’s not just an egoistic desire to enjoy, but a regret that one was born an egoist. This requires preparatory work carried on from generation to generation, the influence of the environment, of the Surrounding Light that reaches a person even unconsciously and without his knowledge.

Even without studying Kabbalah, a person begins to get to know his evil. As in our current state of crisis, humanity is about to do this in order to discover that we are all egoists, and there’s no way out. Everything is heading towards this, and we’ll just devour each other, and will it be the end of civilization on the earth? What are we to do?

There’s a general and personal preparation period in which a person’s evil nature is slightly revealed. He feels that there’s no escape, and it needs to be corrected. And if the point in the heart awakens in him, he begins his correction. But those in whom the point in the heart is not awakened, they feel the true suffering of Job, with no hope to change themselves. Any actions that seem altruistic to us, any charity and noble impulses will nonetheless turn out egoistic in the end. Becoming more aware, a person begins to understand that throughout everything, egoism is manifested, acting only for its benefit. No matter how nice charitable organizations and actions look, they do not bring any correction.

The world is built in such a way that if we act according to the law of the correction of nature with the help of the Reforming Light, then we correct it. And if we don’t follow this law, all our best actions are turned into harmful ones. And with these best intentions, we cause the most damage, not bringing any good. That’s why Rabash writes that when he looks at all the suffering that the world experiences, he has nothing to help other than to pray for their correction.

The Book of Zohar is the source of the upper Light that illuminates from the top of the world of Atzilut. It’s a system of the upper Providence and leadership that operates on us, so that when we study The Book of Zohar we actually connect with this upper mechanism. The closer we want to get to the upper leadership while reading The Book of Zohar, the more strongly it influences us. But what does it mean to get closer to the Lights, to relate to the system of leadership and Providence correctly?

It means to be like it. It’s total love and bestowal and its law is the law of love. How can we check that? We do so according to the principle of “from the love of the created beings to the love of the Creator.” The Creator is nature, the essence of the upper system. So the word “God  –  ים-אלה” is the same as the word “nature – הטבע” in Gematria.

So if we want the upper force to connect us, to bring us connection and correction, it matches its plan. On our part there can’t be any other intention or inclination, according to this system with the upper Light. That is why it is called the Light that Reforms: When we want to connect mutually in “love thy friend as thyself,” which is the great rule of the Torah, that is Light, then it comes and corrects and fills us. Actually this is the only action in nature and this is the only thing that can help, save, correct, and bring good to us and to the world.

The current global crisis is meant to show us that only the action of connection can save humanity. Accordingly, the current “small war” in Gaza is meant to evoke us to the same inner action that is aimed at connection. So let’s try to connect all our inclinations in mutual guarantee and understand that we have to become “as one man in one heart.” In fact this is all our work.

We hope that the Light that comes while reading The Book of Zohar will fulfill the connection among us. Then there will be no enemies and there will be no wars. By trying to connect above the situation, we drive away the negative force. If in the past the leadership operated on us through the posterior of the Light because we were opposite to it, now it reveals its face. Let’s try and focus so that it will all happen this way.

Question: If all the stages of my path are predetermined, can I change a certain event in my life by freewill? How will my life be different with the wisdom of Kabbalah and without it?

Answer: It is a huge difference.

Suppose I don’t want to go to school and so I am “beaten” by my parents. It is the same here: I break a leg, my country is at war, there are natural disasters; the “parental attitude” is felt but more realistically. By these problems I will still do what I am required to do. What is more, if I sometimes managed to escape punishment at school, here there are no discounts, there is nowhere to run.

I am between the “path of the Torah” and the “path of suffering” and this choice changes my life. In fact it is a matter of life or death, although we feel it as different kinds of sufferings. If someone wanted to win a million dollars in the lottery but won only a hundred thousand and someone else is bedridden for 15 years, both cases are felt as sufferings.

Question: But still, do I actually have to break a leg?

Answer: If this is the only thing that will change your attitude toward the goal of creation, then yes. But you can follow the path of “hastening time” and correct your attitude and then you won’t have to break a leg, since you will transcend the sufferings from the animal level to the level of the speaking.

The Lights and the vessels need to be opposite one another. On the animal level it is expressed, let’s say, by breaking a leg or losing one’s salary, or a fire, a serious illness, etc. But if you raise the sufferings to the level of the speaking, if you experience it and feel sorry about the fact that you cannot bestow now, it is your problem and this is what you suffer from. The Light that Reforms gives you this feeling and then there is no need for corporeal disasters any more.

Furthermore, many more corporeal troubles are required than spiritual ones. For example, to be sick for a thousand years without getting out of bed is like experiencing a moment of pangs of love: “Why don’t I love the Creator?” This is the difference between the levels, what can a small child do compared to a grown up if the lights go out at home? It is incomparable.

See how the crisis is spreading: No one is protected and safe from it. The world is threatened by terrible sufferings that are meant to break man, just to put a small switch through his common sense. Then, after a third world war he will discover that he is under the influence of nature. Then the fourth world war will replace another tiny switch: “Ahh, I have to be balanced with nature.” A fifth world war will show him the necessity of bestowal upon others, in order to reach harmony with nature, and so on.

Monstrous disasters, years of troubles, will only help to switch on what the Light could switch on in a couple of months. Through correct studies, a person could understand in a month that there is no other choice. So we have to bring our message to the world as quickly as possible.
