Break The Shell Of Separation

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Do women have to meet physically during their preparation for the Congress?

Answer: I don’t think it is so significant, although, women should stay in touch with each other.

I strongly advise them to hold workshops about the unity among women. Have them sit in a circle of 5-10 people (as we usually do) and let them discuss questions like, “How can we unite? What do we do for that? What are the ways of rising above our egoism and our usual calculations? Can we fight our desire to be distanced from others and just be within ourselves, and so on?” Can we in fact break the shell that exists in each of us, and unite with each other?

It is an extremely complicated psychological problem. In fact, it is a spiritual dilemma.

Men also face the same problem; however, in their case it is a little simpler, since men are able to hug each other with less effort and for them it is much easier to unite. Even in this material world men have lots of activities that bring them closer together, like going to restaurants, etc. They don’t mind spending time together at all. For women, it is considerably harder. We have to think about this before the congress.

Not A Spectator But A Participant

Dr. Michael LaitmanDuring the preparation phase, a person who studies Kabbalah cannot use it as an exact science and operate according to facts yet. In this phase, I realize myself in the group, in the study, in the connection with the teacher, in the connection with the Creator, and through the sources. I study authentic Kabbalistic sources that are beyond the Machsom (barrier), although I haven’t transcended it yet. The group in my eyes is also beyond the Machsom, and especially the teacher as well as all the other Kabbalists and the Creator, the universal upper force.

Only I, miserably, am standing here below wanting to be incorporated in them all. I am incorporated in them through the group that has a guide. He doesn’t guide anyone personally; he belongs to everyone. He teaches the group according to Kabbalistic books, which were also written in a group, and all the friends together want to discover the Creator in the general unity.

This is the difference between the wisdom of Kabbalah and other wisdoms: Now I am just like a child trying to behave like a grownup, with the help of different “toys” that his parents have given him. If I do this, I grow correctly; I have a group, books, and a teacher—everything that I need. If I use them the way I should, I will advance.

One of the most effective means is our workshops. We make the most not from the wisdom but through connection; a workshop is an act of connection.

I hear what the friends say, and in my heart and soul I yearn to be with them, to participate in their unity, to feel what they feel, to think what they think. I am incorporated in them, and in that I begin to accept the necessary conditions for the upper Light.

We are ten people sitting together and in between them I find a warm common feeling. Even if I am viewing them on a TV or a computer screen, I am, in fact, looking at the connection, at the mutual cooperation between them. I observe and want to be inside.

Then I begin to perceive the Light that Reforms, the Surrounding Light, that develops my soul.

This is why it is so important to see the group and to feel that I am in its center. I unite with the friends; I want to tie them together, to hug them all, and to feel one inner desire, one inner thought, mind, and heart.

After several such exercises, I start to feel much closer to the friends, to such an extent that through them I perceive spirituality.

Don’t underestimate the workshops because they are very near unity. It will come sometimes, more and more, and not just in the form of inspiration but as a spiritual experience from which the illumination of the Surrounding Light will become the real Light.

Shared Contact

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: A workshop is a powerful action that each time is felt in a new way, sometimes sharper, and other times muffled.

Answer: Of course, this is because during workshops a common desire is developed, a collective mind; a generalized image of man, Adam, is created. It happens gradually.

Everyone assembles a small organ within his group, which connects with other organs. Everyone in his group of 10 feels what he assembles, and when up to 30 or more groups are gathered here, we get a large number of desires. The time will come when all the groups will come together in a common desire.

What we have to learn now is to reach shared contact quickly, so that while sitting with 10 friends, we enter into contact within a second and stay in it for a long time without a break. This is the most important thing for us.

Through The Veil Of The Ego

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: How do we work in the group to focus our intention and to achieve the right desire to ascend?

Answer: We have to imagine the ascent from our world to the world of Ein Sof (Infinity) as something that is attainable now, at this very moment. We constantly play it in the group and in the workshops. We constantly imagine it as the desirable state. I want to be constantly included in it; this is my goal in every movement I make. Only if we imagine this goal do we summon upon ourselves the good and beneficial influence of the Surrounding Light from it.

It is a physical law. To the extent that I yearn, I summon the force of the Light upon myself, and it operates and influences me and corrects me by drawing me to a new state.

Question: So does this means that we have to see our friends as great, even if I don’t agree with them and don’t feel that they really are so?

Answer: Of course! What does agreeing or not agreeing have to do with it? Who am I? I am a small, worthless, uneducated person, who has no attainment of the spiritual world. I criticize my friends because I feel comfortable with that, out of my egoistic attributes. It seems to me that they are all wrong and that they are all bad. Of course, I mustn’t accept what I see and hear as the way they really are.

On the contrary, I have to understand that my ego is between me and my group. I see them through the ego and receive everything from them through it.

This means that the questions of who they are and what I receive from them have no solution until I annul my ego.

But when I annul it, I will be able to see what is before me. Then I will see that it is the Creator! Not the friends, not the group, but the Creator! I will see a totally perfect state.

Now, when I am detached from them, inside my ego, when I am in a kind of an egoistic cocoon, how can I judge anyone?

Women’s Work

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Can we discuss the problems that arise between the male and female parts of the group in a mixed workshop?

Answer: I don’t understand, what problems can there be between men and women? Isn’t it clear to us that we have to help one another? Could it be that the men have some outrageous demands?

Question: They demand our support, which they claim that they don’t feel.

Answer: Oh! They are right about that. This is the most important role of the female group, and without it the men won’t be able to advance. Only the women can do it with the special inner part of their soul.

The support is in not going in every direction, but calming things down, directing and supporting the men, just as a mother calms a child. This means that they have to perform the role of a mother. The men’s group needs a mother that will balance and soften it, which means that it will smooth things out. This is the women’s work.
