There Are No Privileges In The Spiritual Work

laitman_528_04Torah, Deuteronomy 12:8 – 12:9: You shall not do as all the things that we do here this day, every man [doing] what he deems fit. For you have not yet come to the resting place or to the inheritance, which the Lord, your God, is giving you.

A person in the course of his development—wandering through the desert for forty years, entering the correct work with his desire that is called “entering the land of Israel” and rearranging this land (“Aretz” from the word “Ratzon,” desire) for bestowal and love by serving the Creator—finally begins to understand his previous mistakes and misunderstandings.

He realizes how he was led from above. The Creator purposefully caused him mistakes and misunderstandings so that he would see all of the problems and the right actions through them. It is impossible to reveal something if you don’t make mistakes prior to it. After all, in order to come to the correct understanding of some phenomenon, it is necessary to know it from both sides: right and wrong.

Question: So, does it mean that what seems to me as correct now is wrong?

Answer: We only give a person the method of correction, but we don’t engage with what he goes through and how he does it.

No one has the right to interfere with the internal problems, corrections, feelings, and movements of a person—no one, not even the teacher, let alone a student regarding another student! You watch from the side, you observe all of this, you understand that only in this way can he develop, and in no any other way, and you wait ten years, twenty years, or thirty years.

Of course, changes happen in a person every moment, but you can’t enter this and propose, “Let me do it, or let me finish it for you.”

There are many types of support and help from the teacher that the student doesn’t know about because they are not performed explicitly. On the contrary, to the student, it seems that he was abandoned, the teacher is not paying attention to him, and so forth.

It was even worse for me. I suffered, worried, was stressed, and couldn’t do anything, and Rabash was laughing in my face.

Question: Yet, you were very close.

Answer: That doesn’t mean anything. The spiritual work stays spiritual work. There are no privileges or actions of the teacher in order to help the student. Otherwise, the student won’t make it. He must be independent in all of his desires and qualities, and use them correctly, one hundred percent, for bestowal.

But it all depends on the devotion of the student to the teacher, the group, and the goal. Through them, he comes to devotion to the Creator.

Rest In Spirituality

Laitman_144Torah, Deuteronomy 12:9: For you have not yet come to the resting place or to the inheritance, which the Lord, your God, is giving you.

Rest is a corrected state in which a person is spinning like a hamster in a wheel because there are endless opportunities for realizing the property of bestowal, love, and correction that are revealed before him.

Question: He does not have any doubts left, does he?

Answer: Doubts stay with him, and they are not small at all! Otherwise, a person would turn into an animal.

Concealment always remains since the First Restriction (Tzimtzum Aleph) does not become cancelled.

Objects Of Worship

Dr. Michael LaitmanTorah, Deuteronomy 12:2: You shall utterly destroy from all the places where the nations, that you shall possess, worshipped their gods, upon the lofty mountains and upon the hills, and under every lush tree.

Mountains, hills, and trees are what people worshipped. Either they worshipped something in these places: in the lowlands or valleys, in the mountains or on the hills, etc.

A person can pray to anything. In the repertory (Homeopathic reference), where all sorts of human motives and methods of their treatment are described, very interesting impulses of a person are mentioned, for example, a prayer to the tail of the horse and other similar things.

A person is subject to all sorts of internal fluctuations; there are various doubts, forces, and twilight states in him.

People worshipped trees a lot. However, if we speak about the internal work of a person, then the tree of knowledge of good and evil is the personification of the fact that out of something grows something. That is, knowledge is the fruit of the tree.

“In The Direction Of The Sunset”

laitman_747_01Torah, Deuteronomy 11:29 – 11:30: And it will be, when the Lord, your God, will bring you to the land to which you come, to possess it, that you shall place those blessing upon Mount Gerizim, and those cursing upon Mount Ebal. Are they not on the other side of the Jordan, way beyond, in the direction of the sunset, in the land of the Canaanites, who dwell in the plain, opposite Gilgal, near the plains of Moreh?

“Har” (mountain) is from the word “Hirhurim” (doubts). A person is always in doubt. However, some doubts bring him to the correct path, and with their help, he ascends, and other doubts bring him to a descent, when he agrees with his nature.

Therefore, blessings are given on one mountain and curses on the other, in other words, a reward here and a punishment there. In spirituality this is one mountain, one place where you stumble and fall and you rise there as well.

There is nothing else but through correct work with the curses you come to the blessing. After all, the desire is the same and you correct it gradually, you stumble, correct, stumble and so you advance.

Question: It is written that “the mountains are beyond Jordan, in the direction of the sunset, in the land of the Canaanites.” Why are they “in the direction of the sunset”?

Answer: A new degree of human development begins with the sunset. Therefore, we need to consider this degree as a good sign: you went through the previous state and now are moving to the new one.

It begins close to sunset, with the twilight, when everything is unknown: you can’t see and can’t distinguish between truth and lies, between the right and wrong path. In this case, you must go forward and choose by faith above reason.

Faith above reason is a very serious spiritual principle. Only if we really move by faith above reason will we be able to understand the difference between the state of blessing and the state of curse because this is not decided on the level of our earthly understanding but precisely by rising above our egoism. This decision is made in spite of everything earthly, contrary to our logic and our attitude to what is happening.

Therefore, everything happens at dusk, in the darkness, toward the sunset.

Temple From The Aggregation Of The Hearts

laitman_943Torah, Deuteronomy 12:3: And you shall tear down their altars, smash their monuments, burn their asherim with fire, cut down the graven images of their gods, and destroy their name from that place.

Humanity has developed through the construction of various religious temples, which to this day are erected all over the world, and they compete as to whose structure is higher, more beautiful, more reliable, and it creates a special feeling in people.

All of this is for a person to gradually realize the wrong way and, only after this, to see the right way.

Question: What does “smash their monuments” mean regarding the internal work of a person?

Answer: Only after you build various intentions, movements, and targets within yourself and are convinced of their failure, can you smash them and build a structure in their place called the “temple of the Creator.”

This structure is internal, within the hearts of the people. Each likens his desires, his heart, brick by brick, and from the aggregation of these bricks, create a single structure. All of our desires unite, find contact with each other, and then the Creator is revealed in them.

“Burn their asherim with fire” means to not leave anything within yourself because the sacred trees represent everything material toward which we rushed throughout thousands of years of human history, and the ashes are the last inanimate stage, and everyone must reach this state.

You Are Crossing The Jordan To Come To Possess The Land

laitman_746_03Torah, Deuteronomy 11:31 – 11:32: For you are crossing the Jordan, to come to possess the land which the Lord, your God, is giving you, and you shall possess it and dwell in it. And you shall keep to perform all the statutes and ordinances that I am setting before you today.

“For you are crossing the Jordan, to come to possess the land” means to possess the desire you can correct. We can’t correct all of the desires at once. From all the vast number of the desires from our entire nature, we can only partially correct the desire called Israel that we can direct to the Creator.

Therefore, it is said that we are a small nation. It means that we can direct to spiritual correction only a small part of human nature. All the rest will be corrected at the end of the general path of correction, in the state of the final correction (Gmar Tikkun).

First, you must correct a small part of what is called Israel, and then the rest of the nations of the world.

Therefore, the Torah encourages us to enter the land of Israel with those desires that can be corrected, and begin fighting with the seven nations that inhabit this earth, in other words, to fight with oneself, destroying all egoistic intentions within me.

The desires that we win (correct), we will be able to gather together and create one immense, united desire, which will reveal the Creator.

The Torah speaks of how, after 2,000 years of exile, guided by the current day, we again must bring ourselves to the spiritual state in which our ancestors were, and win over the rest of humanity. We must begin correcting not only ourselves, as a small part of the entire egoism, but the entire, huge, universal egoism.

Images Of Gods

laitman_289Torah, Deuteronomy 12:3: And you shall tear down their altars, smash their monuments, burn their asherim with fire, cut down the graven images of their gods, and destroy their name from that place.

“Images of gods” are within me. It is what I imagine as goals that I worship, giving them importance. Therefore, they need to be destroyed completely.

They all are reference points with which I have somewhere to aim. I must do this, achieve this, and perform this. However, when I set one single goal for myself and all of my aspiration is directed only to achieve it, then all of the rest must be destroyed.

It is written about this: “cut down the images of gods that you yourself have built.”

Question: Are these “gods” our earnings, careers, pension funds, and so forth?

Answer: No, whatever is essential for a person for his physical existence should remain. He must think about it and, by all means, provide for himself and not fall into the hands of society. All of the rest he must give only to the achievement of one common goal.

Question: What does it mean “destroy their name from that place”?

Answer: Name is what you used to achieve before, while walking on the wrong path, and you considered it the spiritual achievement. Now it is necessary to part with it, stop thinking that it leads you to something and see before you completely different, exactly spiritual images in your corrected desire.

First you will see partial images and then a complete image of the Creator, which is the quality of bestowal and love. Only this quality should fill all of our desires, and the desires must be formatted so that they would emanate only this quality.

The Whole World Is “The Land Of Israel”

laitman_944Torah, Deuteronomy 11:24: Every place upon which the soles of your feet will tread, will be yours: from the desert and the Lebanon, from the river, the Euphrates River, and until the western sea, will be your boundary.

The Torah speaks about all the qualities that are included within the so-called land of Israel, from the Nile to the Euphrates.

Question: Is this also the physical borders of the land of Israel?

Answer: I don’t think that there will be any physical borders left in the world. It is written that the land of Israel will extend to the whole world. It means that all of humanity will acquire spiritual qualities, and thus will exist in such conditions that are called the land of Israel.

Land (Eretz) is a desire; Israel (Isra El, Yashar Kel) is the direction straight to the Creator. Thus, the upper force will be manifested in all our desires.

And the borders specified in the Torah are given specifically to the source through which the upper force will come to the world and spread through it, over all desires.

Question: What will happen after entering the land of Israel?

Answer: The Torah speaks only about the first degree of correction. If we correct it, we will act correctly from that moment on.

A Blessing And A Curse

laitman_238_01Torah, Deuteronomy 11:26 – 11:28: Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse. The blessing, that you will heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today; and the curse, if you will not heed the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn away from the way I command you this day, to follow other gods, which you did not know.

If a person turns away from the way that leads to adhesion with the Creator, the only upper force of nature, then, of course, he makes a mistake and goes to “other gods,” meaning turns to other forces of nature.

“To follow other gods, which you did not know,” that is, previously you did not take them into account as something crucial, defining, and fundamental. And if you give them preference now and look at them as managers then, of course, my curse is on you.

What does a curse mean? A person draws fire upon himself by leaving the only true, upper force of control, under which are all the others, its derivative. He introduces himself to the system in which there is no balance and feels its imbalance.

This is the curse. There is no God that sends us something special from above, we just talk about it in such a metaphorical way. Through our actions, we cause a distortion of the common system and thus feel all the consequences on ourselves.

Question: Why is this Torah portion called Rehe (Look)?

Answer: Because we need to attain the spiritual system. After all, vision is the strongest sense of a human, the most powerful source of knowledge and understanding of where and what we are. Therefore, we need to perceive everything through our vision, our highest cognition. Not to believe or simply acknowledge, but to really comprehend the essence of it. Even in court a witness can only be one who saw, not one who only heard.

The Attributes That Remind About The Spiritual Correction

Laitman_043Torah, Deuteronomy 11:20: And you shall inscribe them upon the doorposts of your house and upon your gates….

A person must realize all the commandments not only within himself, but on every possible external manifestation of his egoism. The doorposts and the gates are the restrictions that exist around our external desires. The fact is that desires come from inside out and are graded as following: the house, the yard, the fence around them, and then the field and the desert.

All this is inside a person; this is how he is created. He must also create such attributes, such symbols externally, in order to be aware of them. Therefore, there is a custom to kiss the mezuzah, but only in order to remind a person about his internal states that must be corrected.

The problem is that we don’t use them. It would be good if we explained that all of these are just signs that remind the people that they must correct their hearts. However, since we don’t teach them this, people are satisfied with performing the commandments mechanically and consider themselves righteous because of it. People don’t want to learn and listen to what the wisdom of Kabbalah tells them.

It is necessary to teach them both at the same time and not to replace one with another! This is the problem.

Torah, Deuteronomy 11:21: In order that your days may increase and the days of your children, on the land which the Lord swore to your forefathers to give them, as the days of heaven above the earth.

“In order that your days may increase” is a constant elevation on the 125 degrees to the world of infinity (Ein Sof), so that a person will possess “this land,” meaning all of the immense desire within him. He must reveal, develop, and correct it and exist in it on a completely different level.
