Reach Connection in the Ten

528.04Kapot [pans] mean Kefia [coercion], when one assumes the kingdom of heaven coercively. This means that even when reason disagrees, he goes above reason. This is called “coercive mating” (Baal HaSulam, Shamati, 85, “What Is the Fruit of a Citrus Tree, in the Work?”).

Question: What does it mean to implement unity in the ten coercively, and how can we do that?

Answer: It is called “coercively” because we are required to achieve connection in the ten through faith above reason whether we want it or not. If we do this, everything will work out. In this connection, we will find everything.

If I have already come to connection in the ten, then from there I have a direct path to the Creator. I begin to understand what “in the ten” means, what connection is, how I can achieve it, what it gives, and how it is manifested within me. I need nothing more; through this, I correct myself.

Together with the Friends

530Comment: During the day, when working with the friends, I discover new areas where I am not connected with them whether in thoughts or desires, and I understand I have no inner strength. So I turn to the Creator, but it requires time for a new connection to be made in me where the connection was disconnected, was torn.

These steps seem like small steps that require time, but I feel that I fall deeper into these states and discover new aspects there.

My Response: Do not be afraid; fall in them. They only advance you.

Comment: If there are states where I feel pain or unpleasantness, I can work with it. But I am not comfortable when I think I hurt my friends with my actions.

My Response: It only seems so to you. Keep going forward, and do not be ashamed of feeling yourself with them in one desire.

Question: And when I feel that I did not finish something and something happened because of me, is this a wrong attitude?

Answer: That is not important. Anything is possible. The main thing is that you together with your friends want to reach such a desire that will correspond to the Creator.

Not Just any Group

528.04Question: What is a group? After all, groups are different. There are groups of people with a point in the heart. They know about Kabbalah, and I enjoy talking to them and interacting with them. And there are people with whom I just have friendly relations. Is this also a group?

Answer: A Kabbalistic group is a group that preferably consists of ten people, who, together with you, are striving for such a connection that the Creator will be revealed between you.

It has nothing to do with other groups. That is, you must organize relationships between you that are similar to the qualities of the Creator. Then the Creator will reveal Himself according to the law of equivalence of form in your relationships with your friends. That is it.

And all sorts of fabrications—some other group or something else—is all nonsense. They only distract you, and you will achieve nothing here or there.

What Does the Wisdom of Kabbalah Do?

632.4Question: How can we tell people about the wisdom of Kabbalah without mentioning this word? How can we explain the importance of uniting and the importance of connection between us?

Answer: We observe this in the nature around us; it is one single mechanism and all  parts of it are completely interconnected. This can be seen in examples of ecology, climate, and everything that exists around us. Only the human being breaks this relationship. I think everyone will agree with this.

In nature, there is a single force called the Creator that unites everything. We must reveal it. It can be revealed only to the degree to which we will be capable of sensing the entire integral system. The Creator is pushing us toward that. He causes all problems in the world so we would unwillingly want to attain Him.

Precisely in our time, we must reveal Kabbalah. The gathering of tens is the shortest path to the attainment of the Creator in the minimal degree inside every ten. In this mini-laboratory we begin to study Him.

After that, as a result of our spiritual development, we will be able to attain the entire system of nature and its governance. The wisdom of Kabbalah is engaged in the study and revelation of the common force of nature, the Creator.

Verify the Connection with the Creator

938.01This means that vitality is called “light” and “pleasure,” and pleasure is spirituality. It is a rule that there is no light without a Kli (vessel), meaning there is no such thing as pleasure without clothing. For this reason, the whole difference is not in the pleasure, called “light,” but in the clothing, meaning in the Kli, since there is a clothing of falsehood, and clothing of truth (Rabash, Letter No. 12b).

Question: How do we in the ten measure whether we are in mutual connection with the Creator to gradually reveal ourselves and bestow to Him?

Answer: We need to check what we derive pleasure from. If our pleasures come from false clothing, we are still in an incorrect contact with the light of the Torah.

But if we have already reached a contact where the clothing of truth begins, we have reached the goal and can rise more and more in the clothing of spiritual holiness.

Question: What kind of pleasure can we receive from the Creator in active unification in the ten to give Him the proper measure?

Answer: The pleasure of uniting with each other and organizing a group with a common opinion: to reveal the Creator and show our love for Him.

How Can You Convey the Taste of Spiritual Work?

939.01Question: What does it mean to acquire the tastes of the Torah in the ten?

Answer: It means to correctly receive each of the four types of manifestation of the Creator in the soul.

Question: A person who has been studying Kabbalah for a long time needs some kind of nourishment from the light. But there are friends who rarely attend classes and apparently do not receive the taste that would attract them. How can this taste be conveyed to them?

Answer: There is not a way to do so; just like in our world: only the one who tastes, feels it.

You just need to try to connect together and attempt to feel this taste. Then even those who do not yet have it will begin to feel it. This will push them forward.

Question: There are moments in our work when everyone feels passion, fire in the work. And it happens that people lose this taste. How can we ensure that a person always feels the bright taste of spiritual work?

Answer: It is not easy. In order for a person not to lose his taste, you must connect and drag him into your connection in which you could convey your tastes to him.

Where Can You Find Joy?

947Question: How can you find joy in the work without taste or smell, and how do you do it with a quality of adornment rather than neglect?

Answer: It depends on whether you feel who you are giving your efforts to.

Question: Where do we get this joy from? Is it from uniting in the ten or thinking you are working for the Creator?

Answer: From uniting in the ten because this is how we approach the Creator.

Whom to Love?

942Question: What does it mean to love the Creator? Whom should I love?

Answer: You must love everyone except yourself, because you yourself are what stands in opposition to the Creator. Therefore, to the extent that you cease loving yourself, you will rise above yourself and draw closer to the group (the ten) and to the Creator.

Question: If I need to love everyone else but not myself, how does this relate to “love your neighbor as yourself”?

Answer: The point is that just as you egoistically love yourself, you must altruistically love your neighbor.

Question: You say we should rise above our disagreements. But what if there is someone in the group whom I find unpleasant?

Answer: That is exactly where you need to rise above your dislike for them and correct your attitude. How? Ask the Creator to help you do this.

What Should We Ask For?

629.3Question: I look at a friend whom I do not accept, and I see myself before me; this is an image of me. If I cannot ask for myself, whom do I ask for because it is my image in front of me?

Answer: It is opposite you. What does it mean to see another person in front of me? I see my negative qualities. If I had the corrected properties, I would not see anyone as bad. Therefore, ask for correction so that you see everyone as fully corrected.

What else can you ask for? For the Creator to correct others? This is only possible in the ten where we mutually help each other.

Here is a dilemma: to pray for the world to be better or to correct yourself not to see the world as evil. This is individual and shared work.

When you ask for your correction in order to relate to your friends in the ten correctly, you are not asking for your ego. You are asking to correct yourself, to rise, and thus correctly interact with them, become interconnected, and help them. This is not considered asking for yourself because you are asking for the ten. Therefore, there is a condition: turn to the Creator only through the ten.

We must ask constantly, as it was said: “May you ask constantly ask” i.e., constantly be praying.

The Collective Desire of the Ten

939.01Question: What are the vessels (Kelim) of the ten that are ready to receive the light of the Torah?

Answer: When we connect with each other and wish to come closer ourselves to the desires of the Creator, we reveal within ourselves such qualities that explain to us what spiritual desires mean. Then we draw closer and closer to these desires through our own qualities.

The collective spiritual desire of the ten is the desire in which they want to exist in order to bring contentment to the Creator.
