The Creator Knows What Is in Your Heart

527.02Question: What is the part of a prayer when we say: “The Creator is great, merciful, and mighty”? We know that prayer consists of gratitude and requests. That seems more like praise.

Answer: But that is what is in your heart. You feel and say these words based on what you are feeling.

Question: Can praise help when someone is in a state of descent and cannot move forward?

Answer: No that would be a lie. It is impossible to lie to the Creator.

Questions about Spiritual Work—177

276.04For even a thief in hiding calls on the Creator. For this reason, it does not require Mochin de Gadlut to keep the branch from cutting from its root (Baal HaSulam, Letters, 18).

Question: What does this mean?

Answer: It means that even “a thief in hiding calls on the Creator,” thus, there is no need for the upper light to guard him so that he does not disconnect from the Creator.

Question: Religious people are born with the name of the Creator and live with it. How can I come to a state where there is none else besides Him and I begin to love without knowing who, just as they revere Him?

Answer: The thing is, there is a big difference between your path and theirs. The Creator Himself gradually brings you to Him and pulls you toward Him.

Question: How can I attract the force of overcoming and work only for the sake of the Creator?

Answer: You need to ask to be able to change what descends upon you from above through your desire.

Question: If I ask, while in Lo Lishma, about what will come of my work and I do it with the intention of annulling myself, is there room for a personal request here?

Answer: There is almost never room for a personal request. You can have a personal one only after you rise to the level of a common request.

Question: To reach the first spiritual degree, do we need to awaken a certain number of souls? How will this happen?

Answer: It will happen through the correction of those who have already been awakened.

Convention: At the Finish Line

936Question: We are at the finish line coming to the convention. Tens are working to their limit if I can put it that way. What is more important at this point: to connect strongly or to ask the Creator to connect us?

Answer: When do you think you will be able to achieve connection?

Comment: When we ask Him together.

My Response: That is exactly what needs to be done.

Comment: So it is essentially one action made up of two parts. Our goal is to connect, but we cannot do it on our own, so a prayer to Him arises.

My Response: Yes, you do so every day until you see that you are connected.

Question: Will the Creator let us know?

Answer: Of course.

Turn the Point in the Heart into a Screen

528.03Question: For a Kabbalist, what is the magnetic field that helps the point in the heart and egoism to exist?

Answer: Our heart is an organ that attracts everything it likes and rejects everything it dislikes. We must place a screen before our heart and engage not with what pleases us, but with what can destroy our egoism and connect us with the Creator. In other words, we must connect with our friends through our heart, and in this way, we will draw closer to this.

Question: How does the point in the heart turn into a screen (Masach)?

Answer: It happens under the influence of the upper light. If, in unity and prayer, you turn to the Creator, you will attract the reforming light (the light that returns to the source), and it will begin to correct you.

The Path that Gives the Sense of the Creator

276.02Question: Baal HaSulam writes there is nothing more natural or necessary than connection with the Creator because He is nature. Is it possible to convey this to the world, not through faith below knowledge or religion, but rather in or above knowledge?

Answer: No, imagine we are in a state where the Creator sends us some signals from His level, from His height. We cannot recognize them correctly. The only thing we can do is ask Him to draw us to Him. Only then will we begin to feel and understand Him more and come into contact with Him.

The feeling of the Creator can only be obtained through the path Kabbalah offers. All other paths are built on accustoming oneself to believing there is some kind of power.

Question: So without uniting people into tens, without a practical methodology, it is not possible to give it to the world?

Answer: No, nature is designed so that only through tens can we draw closer to the Creator.

How Can We Learn to Understand the Signals of the Creator?

294.2Question: How can one learn to understand the signals of the Creator?

Answer: You need to reveal it all within yourself: what you feel, what you think, and what you see.

The Creator speaks to each of us every moment in a new way. We just need to tune ourselves to reveal the appeal of the Creator to us.

Question: How can we instantly establish contact with Him?

Answer: It depends on how much we desire to be connected with Him, to rise to Him, and to understand Him, so that He feels us more and is revealed within us.

Why Do We Need To Ask the Creator?

562.01Question: A man who was upset came to a sage and complained, “Today I thought why even pray or ask the Creator for this or that? Doesn’t He already know what is best or worst for me?”

“The Creator certainly knows,” the sage replied. “The question is, do you?”

Do we know what is better or worse for us?

Answer: This is a complex question. We need to understand that the best state for us is to be similar to the Creator. How do we achieve this? That is what we study. And how do we implement it? We also study that. The task is simply to implement it, but that is the problem.

Question: What does it mean to be similar to the Creator?

Answer: To be similar to the Creator means following the laws of the Torah. These laws are: love your neighbor as yourself and do not do to others what you do not want done to you. These fundamental laws bring us closer to the Creator.

Question: Do we know this is better for us or don’t we?

Answer: We know, but we do not want it. It is like with children. You tell them what is good for them, but they do what their egoism tells them.

Question: Is it better for the ego?

Answer: Yes.

Question: As a result, do we end up doing what is worse for us?

Answer: Yes in the end, there is a constant struggle between these two forces within us.

Comment: I see. But still, the idea you mentioned is attractive. It sounds good: do not do to others what you do not want for yourself.

My Response: It sounds good until I start seeing what is more important to me.

Question: Meaning, what is more important for oneself, for one’s egoism?

Answer: Yes.

Question: What is the correct request? What if we wanted to ask: “Let us do what is better, not worse”? What is the right request: “Help us choose the better” or “Help us accept everything that happens to us”? That is, we believe that You give us the best.

Answer: Help us realize where in our world there is a greater similarity to You.

Question: By doing so, do we choose the best?

Answer: Yes,  in our attributes, in our desires, etc.

Question: Does the Creator indicate where? Does He guide a person in this way if the request is truly deep and sincere?

Answer: Yes, if we truly desire it.

Gifts for the Creator

238.01Question: What gifts can I give the Creator to buy His love?

Answer: Don’t pull the upper light to yourself with your ego, but want to bring it through yourself to your friends.

On one hand you are connected with the Creator and on the other hand with your friend, with one or many, or with all, bringing light from the Creator to them.

Question: Does this happen only through prayer?

Answer: In every way of this world. It can be with the help of a prayer, desire, or even without words, with actions.

Question: How do I make sure that I gave Him a gift?

Answer: You have to feel it. Ask the Creator to allow you to feel if you are acting correctly.

Don’t Miss the Moment

610.2Question: Why is it important to maintain the understanding that everything we ask for and include in our prayer is what the Creator has awakened within us?

Answer: How could it be otherwise? Everything comes from the Creator. That is stated at the beginning of our prayer: “I am the First, and I am the Last,” and “There is none else besides Me.” By this, we strengthen ourselves and place ourselves in the position that the Creator has affirmed as our true state.

Question: And if we miss this moment, are we essentially missing the connection with Him?

Answer: Of course.

The Temple Above Dust

935The person received an inheritance from his teachers not to let anything be built on this dust, except for the Temple (Rabash, Notes 804 “Raises the Poor from the Dust – 2”).

Dust is not soil, stone, or sand, but specifically, dust, meaning a part of the earth that is useless for anything.

When a person sees that they stand on dust, it indicates that there is no future, and they still do not have the foundation on which to build the Temple, a house of sanctity.

Question: To build the Temple, on our part, we need agreement with the Creator, patience, lowliness, and prayer. What does it mean to agree with the Creator?

Answer: It means agreeing that we are low in our desires and must unite with one another in prayer to the Creator to reach correction. That must be clearly understood both emotionally and intellectually. It is a good degree.
