Learning About My Qualities

962.3Question: Each of us has a unique set of qualities. How can I know what they are? How can I find my purpose in the spiritual and in the corporeal world?

Answer: In the corporeal world, everything depends on the specific circumstances. And in the spiritual, while we develop we begin to feel, define, and learn about ourselves as we grow.

Thus, we discover who we are down to the root of our soul, what set of spiritual qualities lies at its core. And so it is with each of us. To the extent that you develop your soul, you begin to feel it, understand what it’s like.

In other words, to the extent that you are able to align yourself with the Creator, you begin to feel the point of your origin and at the same time your destination, the path that you are going through and will have to go through in the future. All this happens in the course of implementing the Kabbalistic practice.

Advice For The Lonely

961.2Comment: A major trend in the world today is loneliness. A minister for loneliness has already been appointed in England and now a minister for loneliness has been appointed in Japan.

Irina writes to us: “What a terrible loneliness! How I came to this, I don’t understand. I was always friendly, open, and suddenly—alone! Empty home, empty heart, the phone is silent. And I do not want to call anyone. So lonely that I have no strength! And so much loneliness around me! How can we live alone?”

My Response: You cannot. Were you to create a club for the lonely, they would not go there anyway.

Question: I wonder why? It is true, she and everyone else sit at home for some reason. You must seek them out, ministries must be built for them. It is a problem!

Answer: The fact is that no ministers will help here, no decisions from above, from governments, will help. These are just pretenses to show that we care for the lonely. It will not help in any way.

People realize that they cannot find the meaning of life in marriage. They cannot find the meaning of life in work, and naturally, not in friendship. Not in anything. So what is the point? Why should I get out of bed in the morning? There is no reason, no stimulus for moving, thinking, talking, or doing anything at all. The world freezes as a result.

And what is the point? Only if we discover the meaning of life, which is above this state. Only if we somehow manage to tell others about it, to show it, to shake people up and awaken them. Otherwise, frankly, it will all end with someone selling pills that will put you to sleep forever.

And people will buy them. No doubt! They will gladly take a pill with a sip of water, lie down, and that’s it. What happens afterward doesn’t matter.

Comment: This does not sound very logical. If a man feels bad, he would logically start looking.

My Response: And what can he do if he does not see any way out? Why live?

Question: And connecting with others, at least some kind of connection?!

Answer: They gather in some clubs, but that ends too.

Question: This is not the solution?

Answer: Of course not.

Question: That is, until a person penetrates into the meaning of life.  Is this happening now and that is why we see this trend?

Answer: Yes. A person has to break through a barrier that manifests itself in complete apathy toward everything. Only then can he discover a whole new life. That is, in a way, it is death. Passing through this barrier, we discover that there is another life, a different kind, and now I can start living it.

A person must realize, agree with, and want to give up this life—this constant egoistic pursuit of something. Once he agrees with this in some form, then he is ready for the next life.

Question: What is your advice to a lonely person who feels all alone to the point of a dire need in his soul?

Answer: My advice: go to our website and read. There is nothing else that I could recommend. From the bottom of my heart, I would prefer not to say this, but I cannot offer anything else.

“What Is The Key To Success In Life?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What is the key to success in life?

The key to success in life is in building a society around ourselves that focuses on creating a balanced life for us all, a society that makes us happy, calms us, and that gives us a sense of meaning.

There Is No Desert Without A Well

741.02“What makes the desert beautiful,” said the little prince, “is that somewhere it hides a well…”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Wells are hidden under the sand. They exist everywhere. The root of life is everywhere, in everything. The most important thing is for us to relate to the meaning of life, to the root of life, and not to what we see outside.

Question: Tell me, is the desert burning inside me? Many people today have the feeling that there is no life.

Answer: You simply reveal something that was not there anyway. There was no life before either, only now you realize it. And so what you are revealing now is better than what was before.

Question: How can I, burning inside, understand or believe that if I overcome this state, a well will be there? What kind of thought is that?

Answer: That there is a meaning to life, there is a purpose, there are great forces of nature that can lift us up and revive us, lead us to the source of life if only we seriously wish it.

Question: How can I grasp this idea in such a desolate state?

Answer: Only if you gather yourself together with the rest of your friends. You must come together, you must understand that this is only done together. Only in the environment.

Question: The environment, are they the same as me, desolate inside, looking for a well?

Answer: That is precisely what they must understand, that this well is hidden in the connection between them.

The Goals That Choose Us

294.1Comment: In response to one of your videos, someone wrote: “In general, coming up with some kind of a global goal and then living up to it is self-deception.” This is when you talked about the goal of life, about the big goal that must be set.

“We need to set only local, small goals: to make coffee so that it does not spill out, as usual to make your money last until your monthly salary, to lose two kilos of weight, to read a book, to memorize a poem.”

My Response: Absolutely right! Rejoice in these small, very small goals. You cannot raise your head higher, you cannot think about the future.

And I feel controlled by the whole world. And that is why this control worries me.

Question: I made myself some coffee, but I have a feeling that I can no longer be particularly happy about it? There is something so big in front of me.

Answer: Of course. Until I finish this cup of coffee, something may happen. What should I do? I am created this way.

I have children, and I have to think about them. I have grandchildren, and I also want to think about them. This is a natural feeling of every person. These are not some artificial, made-up goals or concerns. They are inside me naturally, as in any person. How should I react to this? “Do not bother me and let me finish my coffee.” It will not work that way.

If this bothers me, I will think about it. I want to know what kind of world my grandchildren will live in. They are already adults. They graduate from universities and go into the world. What kind of world?

Question: Is this called the big goal I am thinking about?

Answer: Of course. At the same time, I do not think about myself, I think about the generation in which my grandchildren will live. I want to take care of them as every person takes care of their offspring. I do not want to jump above this toward spiritual goals. I am ready to limit myself to this.

Well, how can we not think about what will happen on Earth in 50 years? In 100 years? Where will humanity move?

Comment: The taste of coffee immediately disappears when I suddenly start thinking about it, looking at the world.

My Response: Yes, but we, humans, can build it. And we still need to worry about how we can provide for our children, grandchildren, and for all of humanity in general, a normal tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.

Question: When exactly do you talk about the goal of life?

Answer: This is the fate of a few people, imposed on them from above. I will put it this way: they are forced from above to think about the future, about the spiritual future, about the spiritual ascent of humanity. But this is still tied, among other things, to our earthly actions.

So, we must connect one with the other. And we must connect them in our generation. And therefore, whether we wish or not, in our generation we must think about the inner motives of our actions.

Question: That is, it is important for you that humanity reaches this good connection?

Answer: Without this, it will not be able to calmly drink coffee tomorrow.

How To Feel That You Are Needed?

198Question: Young people often ask:”Why doesn’t anybody need me?” At the same time, they have parents, a school, and money; they are well brought up and study well, but they experience an absolute feeling of emptiness as if no one cares about them.

Answer: It is not a false perception. Indeed, we are in a vacuum. And although there are billions of people around us, we cannot say that we feel their positive influence on us.

All the vibes that we receive from the world around us are either negative or emanate outright soullessness and indifference.

Question: And what to do? People feel absolutely unwanted despite the fact that they seem to be surrounded by quite a lot of attention and care. What can they do to feel they are needed?

Answer: But they do have some goal in life if they are talking about the meaning of life. They should feel that they are going straight toward it: one more small step, one more step, and they are moving.

Otherwise, these questions will arise and people will start hating themselves. But if man has a clear goal, he wants to reach it and every day approaches it, then he is inspired by his life, by his advancement, and he is happy that he exists.

“Why Are Brands Important?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Why are brands important?

Brands help coordinate people toward a certain purpose according to a certain direction, movement, teaching, methodology, theory or practice. They help describe and explain all of the latter. As social creatures, we have needs to communicate, teach, grow and bring other people together in certain directions. We can then progress toward various goals.

We, as human beings, have always set ourselves goals, but they have been corporeal. In other words, the goals we have progressed toward have all been in the realm of our corporeal desires and fulfillments of food, sex, family, shelter, money, honor, control and knowledge.

In our present era, the emptiness of living for corporeal goals alone surfaces more and more in our sensations together with the emergence of the desire to discover life’s meaning and purpose. Moreover, today, as the wisdom of Kabbalah reveals itself more and more to the world, we have the ability to understand the meaning of life, and to present it in clearer and more tangible ways.

Likewise, progressing toward the meaning and purpose of life requires participation of those wishing to discover it via learning, connecting, brainstorming and sharing. We thus need various social institutions and organizations assembled according to different types of people and other parameters in order to help us progress toward life’s meaning and purpose.

I therefore think that humanity will have much to do in this direction, as it is an integral aspect of human development.

A True Gift Of Fate

600.02Question: I would like to know if everything that happens to me, all this nonsense, is this my fate? I was fired from my job, scandals at home, my health is worse and worse. I am told: “Fate.” I don’t want such a fate. I want to know how to get out of this circle!

Answer: You must stop. Stop and think how to live nonetheless. And what to live for, which is the most important thing. And then you will be in a state when you can reveal the deeper meaning of life.

So, you actually are in a very good period in your life—a revelation. A revelation of the next level of understanding, awareness of nature and yourself in it.

Only do not close your eyes and do not try to run away from all of this. Continue to exist on the same level as you are now, like in an automatic mode, on autopilot, and at the same time dig deeper. From where, why, and how do all these commands manage me and people around me? Why is all this happening? And what does the commander of all this want from me?

And let everything else spin automatically. I am ready to agree with all this. Just like a machine.

I think that it will quickly bring a person to the connection with the true manager of his life.

Life Is A Game

610.2Question: In childhood, playing is the most normal state of growth. And we help children with this: we give them construction kits, puzzles, and suggest all kinds of games. The children play and develop.

Then games slowly disappear from life. I wanted to ask you: what about adults? Should we have games in our lives?

Answer: We must continue to play throughout our lives. If a person does not play, he does not grow, even at 30, at 40, at 50.

Comment: But I have grown up, I am already an adult. I acquired knowledge, a profession.

My Response: So, this is also a game because you are playing someone else, who you want to be. And when a person stops playing, he simply serves his body. He starts to turn back from the level of man to the level of an animal. And this is where a person’s life ends. For some years he will still live in the form of an animal serving his body. And that is all.

Question: Why do people think that playing is a child’s thing? When a person says that he is playing, he is talking about something invented.

Answer: Of course, an invention. I make it up. What does it mean to dare? It is playing something bigger, greater; all of this is aspiration, impulses. Like children, at whatever they play, they want to get better. Our game should be natural as well, but we have lost it.

In adolescence, a person is already given everything, does not require anything, and he stops playing.

Question: So this is the basis of all depressions, drugs, and so on? People stop playing?

Answer: Life does not force one to play.

Question: Should life force you to play?

Answer: “What is our life? A game!” Just a different one!

I really check myself and evaluate: Is there any desire in me to stand still? I would like at the last minute to aspire—pump! And that is all. It is all good.

Question: In this year of the pandemic, is the game a way out of the state humanity is in now? It is at a dead end, in reflection.

Answer: Of course. We must play the state that we wish to achieve. As Kozma Prutkov said: “If you want to be happy, be so.” This is very true.

Question: What game should we play now? Now, in this foggy time?

Answer: We must play at friendship and love. What else is there in a person? When this disappears, life no longer has taste.

Question: So this is the main game? All the time?

Answer: Of course. Flirting with life.

Question: And when you say “friendship and love,” is it to one another, to someone close, distant, to the world? You put everything there?

Answer:  Of course, that is all. There should be movement.

Question: But if this is a game and I internally understand that I do not treat another that way?

Answer: It doesn’t matter. Even if I do it on purpose, I may not initially treat him that way, and then I create.

Question: I create this game world: I do not treat him that way, but I want to love him all the time, I want to be friends with him. And then this world appears at this level. Am I entering it? Does it happen?

Answer: What you want to happen will happen.

Question: Is our main game the game of friendship and love?

Answer: Yes. Let’s not call it friendship and love. It is too childish. Only good connections between us, mutual assistance, feeling the need for good relations can lead us to a new world. Otherwise, there is nothing.

The new world is a new society where I will increasingly feel that my physical and mental health depends on everyone around me and theirs on mine. And we are constantly so much included in each other that it is impossible to tear one apart from the other.

I must realize that there is such a law of nature, a very strict law, that my attitude toward others determines their attitude toward me. This is so strange for us. But if we really try, then of course, we will gradually see that the world depends only on our attitude toward it and it will change for the better. That is, you design your world.

A Small Loop On The Way To The Source Of Life

115Question: Most people in childhood ask questions like: “Who am I? Why me? What is around me?” But they do not find answers and forget about them. However, after a while, these questions come back to them with greater force.

Then a person begins to search without knowing what he is searching for. He goes through a lot of information on the Internet. But no matter how much he reads, any information leaves him even more hungry. What is he looking for?

Answer: Basically, we are always attracted to one thing only—to the source of life. This is where we came from and where we must return. There is a small loop on this path that we took: this world. We came to this world and must soon leave it. This is why we are interested in where we came from and where we are going.

We do not see much joy in this world. Therefore, there is an even bigger question “What was before it and what is after?”

Man is searching and if he is lucky, and many people are lucky in our time, he finds the wisdom of Kabbalah.
