Both Feelings And Mechanics

laitman_276.04Question: Once again we have approached the study of the Preface to The Wisdom of Kabbalah (Pticha), but at a new level, through feeling. This is so interesting, so deep, that again we miss the technical details.

Why, when we start to ask any technical questions, does it takes us away from the sensory perception that we have entered, knocks us out of it?

Answer: This happens only in the beginning. For example, when people learn to play a certain musical instrument, at first one has to work on technique. They have to do exercises and get used to the instrument.

Once they have mastered it, then it is as if they unite with it and the instrument begins to express their feelings, those that they cannot express themselves. I take a violin in my hands and it sings they way I never could. But through its singing, through its longing, through its sounds, I am able to express myself.

It is the same here. First we have to learn the instrument. Our instrument is feelings, nothing more than feelings because we are merely the desire to enjoy. This is what the Creator created in us.

In order to express our feelings for the Creator, we need to take them above our egoism, that is, through the desire to the friends. This is a great, special, wonderful opportunity to take our feelings through them because I will not get into the Creator otherwise!

The group for me is an instrument on which I play. If I did not have it, I would not be able to convey anything to the Creator. Therefore, the shattering of the common desire into a vast number of desires gives me an opportunity to play, as if on piano keys, all sorts of melodies of connection. From them, I assemble a symphony, a song of love for the Creator. These are feelings. Yet, they work on mathematics, on desires.

Several times in our lessons, I told you about my friend who worked on the restoration of the organ in the Riga Cathedral. He told me how complex this instrument is. He had books and articles on the structure of the organ with complex mathematical formulas, including diameters, pressure, tune, and so on.

A question arises: what are we going to study: mechanics or how with its help we can evoke feelings? The Creator needs both.

Why? It is so we could fully become masters of the desire that He created, and with its help, express everything in the same way He does, as our quality of bestowal in relation to His quality of bestowal. So that we could connect, adhere to Him.

Therefore, we do not go into feelings with no connection to mechanics. Currently, we do not pay more attention to feelings, because once we run into this, we do not understand what is required of us. We must develop our sensory perception, and then we will play.

We will look at different drawings and cry or laugh—each one will have one’s own reaction. You have no idea how many drawings there are—thousands. So you don’t have to worry about mechanics. You will have all the mechanics you want.

Thus we will come to this. Then everything will be balanced: both feelings and mechanics. You will be able to play the instrument perfectly and express your feelings through it so that both you and the Creator will really be in a common understanding and enjoyment.

The Property Of Kabbalistic Books

laitman_209Question: How can we scientifically explain, without mysticism or religious miracles, that reading the books written by Kabbalists helps correct our intention and change one’s inner state?

Answer: What does mysticism or religion have to do with it? Neither are part of Kabbalah.

Reading Kabbalistic books helps orient you internally toward a goal because they speak of how your soul should be aimed toward it. The same way we tune a musical instrument, we tune ourselves by reading Kabbalistic books.

This tuning fork comes through the books. Try reading them and you will feel it. In no way should you deafen it with any religious precepts, obligations, or various mystical bemusements.

Kabbalah And Superstition

laitman_543.02Question: What does Kabbalah say about superstition?

Answer: Superstition is an invention of our world, psychology, and nothing more.

Kabbalah is completely abstracted from all beliefs, superstitions, and from anything connected to mysticism, that is, from everything that is in this world.

Leave it alone, dedicate yourself to revealing the upper world and the Creator, and you will see that it will replace everything for you. You will receive answers to all questions, moreover, explicit and clear answers, and will begin to work with your soul.

What Does The Desire To Study Kabbalah Depend On?

laitman_563Question: What does the desire to study the wisdom of Kabbalah depend on?

Answer: The aspiration toward the Creator depends on the Reshimo (a spiritual informational record) that is revealed in a person. These are not just questions about the meaning of life and its worthlessness because their answers can be purely corporeal.

A pressing question arises in a person about the essence of existence above only filling himself. It does not matter to me how I live, in what way I fill myself, what I have, and when my life will end. It is important for me to understand its inner meaning! Where did it come from and why it was given to me? What is this phenomenon of life? What does it represent?

When this question emerges in a person, he really needs to discover the purpose of creation. That is, the Creator Himself is unclear. However, if the design, the thought with which everything was created: “With what purpose? Why? For what? How? By Whom?” attracts a person, he comes to the study of Kabbalah and remains in it.

Yet, if he was accidentally lured to Kabbalah by other questions that are less focused on the inner meaning of life, he leaves. Therefore, it is written that a thousand enter a dark room and only one remains and goes out to the Light.

Thoughts: Good And Evil

laitman_534Question: Which parameter in thought determines the strength of its impact?

Answer: There are positive thoughts aimed at connection and good for others. There are negative thoughts aimed at separation, at the submission of others to ourselves. They are all graduated on levels.

In the spiritual worlds, there are 125 steps of good or evil thoughts; along with positive thoughts, there is a great system of dark forces, evil thoughts, which are described in The Book of Zohar. But as a system, we do not study it.

Kabbalists saw that when you study a system of wrong, evil thoughts, at the same time, you awaken them and it does not act well on us and the whole world. Therefore, we do not study that. It is described by Kabbalists, but we do not include it in our course of study.

If we become so big that we can use this system only for our benefit, then we will study it.

The Impact Of Kabbalistic Texts

laitman_209Question: What is the goal of studying the science of Kabbalah?

Answer: Baal HaSulam gives a precise Kabbalistic definition of the goal of Kabbalah: the revelation of the Creator to a person in our world.

The purpose of each lesson depends on the material being studied. The material itself attunes a person to come closer to the revelation of the Creator, to aim one to achieve the goal. As a musical instrument is tuned before a performance, a person similarly needs to attune himself to attain the Creator.

Question: Does it depend more on a person or on what is said in this or that book? Are there miraculous forces in Kabbalistic books?

Answer: There is a miraculous power not in the books themselves, between the rows or between the letters, but in the influence of the text on a person.

The fact is that the Kabbalists who wrote books expressed their inner attainments. We are talking about people who were feeling the upper world and the Creator; everything they expressed on paper is connected with their spiritual attainment. Therefore, when we read their texts, they affect us, whether we like it or not. More precisely, the influence of light descends on us and gradually changes us.

Remark: When I read some dramatic story, it also affects me. I can cry or laugh.

My Comment: Correct, but it influences you purely psychologically. Here you can read without understanding anything, but the text nonetheless influences you and gradually you start to feel that something is happening in you.

You feel that in this text and in you some internal forces exist, internal undercurrents that pull you somewhere, configure your thoughts and feelings in a special way. You suddenly become slightly different, maybe more versatile, more purposeful. It is in exactly this way that the influence of Kabbalistic sources manifests on a person.

How Should One Read Books Of Kabbalah?

Through 22 Stencils

laitman_232.03Question: The world that I see in front of me, is it a letter or a collection of letters? Do we write this world or read it?

Answer: We see this world as if through a stencil through which light passes to us. Of course, this is not the upper light that affects us today, but still some aspect of it. It passes through 22 stencils and is thus reflected in us.

I do not see these stencils, I do not see the light passing through them. Everything happens inside of me, and I see the result of what is happening in me as my egoism, my senses, my desire that is influenced by light through these 22 stencils.

Question: Does this mean that a particularly sensitive person might suddenly speak Hebrew or start writing in Hebrew?

Answer: Yes, of course.

Question: Is there some kind of spiritual action in studying Hebrew like working in a group? After all, knowing that it is right, I still can’t force myself to study it.

Answer: Our conversation is not a lesson in the study of Hebrew. It is intended to tell you what code Kabbalah uses to describe the actions of the upper world. If we had not studied their impact on us and the consequences of them, then we absolutely would not know or be interested in this language. It would be really dead.

But it is becoming more and more alive because more and more people in our world want to know how the upper light controls them. Talking to the upper force on the principle of “He is for me, I am for Him” is possible only through letter stencils, through 22 established images.

As we used to beat letters on paper on typewriters, this system works the same way.

What Does Kabbalah Study Bring Into My Life?

Laitman_632.3Question: Can I tie all the events in my life with the study of Kabbalah or would all those events happen to me anyway? What does Kabbalah study bring to my life?

Answer: Your study of Kabbalah gives your life purpose. It gives you an eternal gain that does not disappear with your corporeal body, but remains beyond it. Since the property of bestowal is above egoism, it continues to exist even when our body dies.

Kabbalah gives us an absolutely pure benefit from the life in this world. It may take one life or a few life cycles, but you will be able to achieve the state of complete similarity with the Creator, His level. This is the purpose of our development.

How Can I Get Closer To Rabash?

721.03Question: I believe Baal HaSulam and you, but I cannot get close to Rabash. How can I do this?

Answer: Baal HaSulam is a great Kabbalist who attained, generalized, and systematized the science of Kabbalah. We are engaged in Kabbalah in order to master it not in the form of science, but in the form of a method of spiritual attainment. These are two different things, although interrelated.

When a person wants to enter the spiritual world himself, then Baal HaSulam is a theoretician for him. He cannot lead a person forward. Rabash leads us forward, explaining at every step where we are, what to do, how to act, what interaction to have in a group, with ourselves, and with the Creator.

I remember well how he wrote his first article, sitting next to me on a park bench. I gave him an aluminum cigarette wrapper, and on the back of it, he wrote a small article—the first of the future three-volume book.

At first, I asked him questions and he gave written answers to them. His first articles appeared this way. Later he wrote by himself.

Without these articles, we could not advance. At each morning lesson we devote an hour and a half to two hours to the articles of Rabash, only half an hour to The Study of the Ten Sefirot (Talmud Eser Sefirot,) and half an hour to the articles of Baal HaSulam.

It is even incomprehensible how people could master the spiritual space before Rabash, how they could feel it in themselves and advance to different levels. That is what he teaches us, because in our time, souls that descend into this world need it.

Rabash is a practicum of Kabbalah and Baal HaSulam is more a theoretical Kabbalist.

In order to get closer to Rabash, one must read his articles and listen to our lessons on them. All of them are in the archive, you can use them free of charge, access is free. Go ahead, dare!
