Answer: You can communicate with a person at different levels of desires but with the Creator only if you give yourself completely to Him. From above, we are never given a half but only a full Kli (full desire). And therefore, although we divide it into NaRaNHaY—zero, one, two, three, four levels of desire, this already refers to the state when a person completely cuts himself off from personal reception and works for bestowal.

This is where we need to see how we are approaching this and whether we have any part in it or not, but so that it will not seem impossible or very far away to us.

Question: How can one form the request to cancel the egoistic shell and exit to the real internal connection of the hearts? What is this request? How to express it?

Answer: This is a question that has no answer. You yourself, by your own efforts should get close to feeling how you need to ask in order to deserve an answer. In the meantime, you have not earned an answer because your demand is not yet sufficient either in strength or in content.

Look how it is written in the fifth excerpt, Maor VaShemesh: “The most important is true connection and love and affection among the friends. This causes all the salvations and sweetening of judgments. When you gather together in love and friendship, by this, all the judgments are removed, sweetened with mercy, and complete mercy and disclosed Hassadim [mercy/grace] are revealed in the world by connecting.”

This is what you need to think about. The appeal to the Creator must come from connection, from the correct relationship between us. It is incredibly hard, but this is how it should be arranged.

And what are you asking for? You have to reach a state where you have done the maximum that you can to get closer to your friends and found that there is still a gap between you. Feeling this gap, you shout to the Creator to help you jump over it. Then it will work.

Question: You said that one needs to lose oneself in the friends. How can this be done?

Answer: Losing yourself among friends is, of course, not easy, but this is what we must do. It is when your egoism disappears, and you feel only your friends but not yourself.

Rabash writes about this in his Letter 8: “I simply exit the corporeal vessels and it seems to me that there is no reality in the world except my friends and I. Shattering is indeed an opportunity for correction. And therefore, when Kabbalists saw the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago, everyone wept and the greatest sage Rabbi Akiva laughed. He was sure that now there was an opportunity to start building the Temple, that is, a place for the revelation of the Creator between us.

The external shattering shows us that there is a shattering within us. If we reveal how severe our external shattering is, then we understand how we are shattered internally and have the opportunity to raise  Divinity from the dust.

This is the state in which we find ourselves; we reveal that we have neither strength, nor understanding, nor any clue of how to start building our connection called the Temple, that is, the place where the Creator can be revealed. Therefore, we can also rejoice that we have recognized what we lack.

Many have been complaining lately that we have no chance, no strength, no way to reach connection. It is good that we have come to recognize how much we are opposite to the qualities of the Temple, the place suitable for the revelation of the Creator. After all, our task is to build a vessel (Kli) where the Creator can be revealed.

It is good that we understand that this is not in our powers and capabilities because we are completely opposite to this. So, we can only demand, pray, and ask.

We must try to get closer to each other against our egoism as much as possible and then cry to the Creator that we are not able to complete this action, and He must complete it for us, uniting us into one spiritual Kli in which He can be revealed. As it is said, “The Creator will finish this work for us.”

The very first task is the revelation of Divinity, the place where the Creator will be revealed. This place is built on the connection between us. If we in the ten are not able to connect as one man with one heart, then we are in a state of shattering. But if we are already aware of this state and do not agree to remain in it but want to correct the nature of our relationship, then we are ready to raise the Divinity from the dust.

I will also ask that you make great efforts in love of friends, to devise tactics that can increase the love among the friends and revoke the lust for bodily matters from among you, as this is what casts hate, and between those who give contentment to their Maker there shall be no hatred. Rather, there are great compassion and love between them. (Baal HaSulam, Letter 11)

The most important thing for us is to break away from all these beautiful words. Because there are no words at all, there is only feeling in the adhesion between us by the inner inclination. In it we will define and reveal the Creator. Moreover, we will see that this is the simplest, shortest, closest feeling to us.

This is how we will discover what a spiritual quality is. It is only contact between desires, between people, everyone to everyone. There is nothing personal in this from anyone.

When these aspirations for each other, not for myself, but only for others, connect, they form a zone in which the Creator is revealed, a place where only mutual bestowal exists. We have to create this place between us.

We feel how far we are from each other and nothing attracts us to connect because we feel the taste of dust in this connection. But if we try to bring a new taste to this state, then this will bring us much closer to each other.

How can this connection be revived and instead of the taste of dust the spirit of life be brought into it? We need to add water to it, Hassadim, and dust will turn into earth. Where can we get this water from? Well, even from tears! Cry that you feel the taste of dust in your connections. We need to revive these connections, and then the Creator will be revealed in them.

We cry out of regret that we are not able to come closer to each other. Egoistic desires do not allow us to unite into one heart and reveal the upper world, eternal life, and the Creator. Of course, we are not able to do it ourselves—but we must ask! Then the upper light will influence us and unite us.

It is necessary to feel the taste of dust (because it is the truth) and work together to turn this dust, this desert, into the Garden of Eden.

Question: Why is it always so hard to hold onto a constant prayer during the lesson? Why are we thrown out all the time? Why do we need these entries and exits in prayer?

Answer: This happens because you do not prepare yourself enough for it. If you were preparing for it more, asking the Creator not to be disconnected, to think correctly all the time, then it would be different.
