Medium published my new article “Heal the Wounds”

An old wound between the Russians and Ukrainians is being aggravated. It is sore and bleeding but not fully reopened. Just as Eastern European countries are now experiencing conflict, this will be felt throughout the world, in all of humanity. Eventually, everyone will experience the revelation of this war firsthand: man’s control over man.

Before this war broke out, this ill feeling was not visible or tangible. It was deep and even slightly dormant. I remember images from the past when Russian and Ukrainian soldiers met; there was a faint inner connection between them, as if they already knew each other. And they are indeed psychologically close; they have an extensive common background.

On the other hand, with the outbreak of this war, acute hatred between them has risen to the surface, a sort of hatred so strong that you can feel and sense. It is literally palpable.

Two peoples who are not very different from one another, but actually are very similar, are discovering pure, clean hatred between them that precedes all ideological views. It is a natural hatred that springs from the power of human nature, which does not dress itself up in the guise of race, gender, nationality, or religion. It is not wrapped in history, language, or cultural differences. It is simply the inner sensation that one hates the other.

This sensation is deeper than any other kind of hatred we know. It is a spiritual hatred, and its only aim is to reveal the extent of the gulf in the relations between the two peoples and to learn from the uncovered chasm how to bridge it with love.

The discovery of fractures and differences, crimes and wounds, points us to the place of repair and helps us to focus on the core of the problem. Mediation and correction are part of a long-term process that works according to the plan of creation of bringing all conflicts into harmony.

We now see before us the first stage of this process. It is a fierce revelation of the power of hatred, the negative force aimed at bringing us closer to understand that there is a system of forces in nature working in us and with us. But against this revealed hatred, love should be awakened. Stable love can be evoked only with the help of a common prayer.

Question: In 2020, gold was becoming cheaper, but it was the beginning of a pandemic so people were not up to buying it.

But in 2021, prices suddenly shot up and today the price of gold has reached 30-year record high. People are actively buying physical gold in the form of bars, coins, and jewelry.

I want to ask you, as a Kabbalist, what is it about gold? After all, it is all about beautifying…

Answer: Beautifying the ego!

We just want to put our efforts into some kind of material objects that are immutable, that won’t disappear or decay, that won’t rust

Question: What is gold on a spiritual level?

Answer: It’s egoism in its purest form. Gold relates to Keter, and silver relates to Bina.

Question: Can you explain it in a simple way?

Answer: When true egoism is corrected, it is represented by gold, and when it is on the way to correction—in other words, halfway toward correction—it is silver, Bina and Keter.

Question: Let us proceed from the fact that the spiritual affects us one way or another. We are branches, while the roots of everything are spiritual. But then what about gold?

Answer: It remains.

Question: Nothing can replace it?

Answer: No.

Question: Even in times of hunger? Even when there is no bread?

Answer: No. When there’s no bread, then no. But once we start adding something to bread, gold immediately begins to appear. It is made for the living.

Question: This means that when we talk about necessities, we are talking about bread. But what about when we talk about our world, the world of excess?

Answer: “People die for metal.”

Question: What conclusion do you draw from all this?

Answer: My conclusion is very simple: as long as egoism rules, gold will be the universal, global equivalent of these egoistic forces. But once people trade their egos for good connections between them, gold will simply be equated to an ordinary metal, a regular material, and will no longer be used for trade. Only the value of bestowal to each other will be used as a measure for trading. This is a completely different material.

Medium published my new article “Losing Trust in Scientists”

According to a recent survey by the Pew Research Center, trust in scientists and medical scientists has dropped. The survey found that only 29% of U.S. adults have a great deal of confidence in both scientists and medical scientists to act in the best interests of the public, down from 40% who said this in November 2020. Not only scientific and medical professions are seeing a decline in the public’s trust. The share of Americans with a great deal of confidence in the military to act in the public’s best interests has fallen 14 points, from 39% in November 2020 to 25% in the current survey, and the percentage of Americans with a lot of confidence in K-12 public school principals and police officers have also decreased.

As I see it, there are several levels to this phenomenon. On the more superficial level, the public simply does not want to keep funding empty, pointless studies that have no benefit to anyone other than for those who carry them out. We have built institutions, research centers, and laboratories that do not bring anyone any good. It is better to keep away from these “findings,” which only confuse us, and not waste taxpayers’ money on such studies.

On a deeper level, public servants, or anyone whose job is to serve the public and work for the public benefit, are inherently inept for their job. Their own nature prevents them from carrying out their task.

The problem is not with them, but with all of society. It is not as if anyone else would be more trustworthy if they were in their shoes. When all of society is rife with mistrust and ill-will, the representatives of the public cannot be better than the public that placed them in their positions.

The only way to change the public from which its servants come is through education. This is where we must invest our money, time, and efforts. The values at the basis of society determine its structure, and define the level of trust between the public and its officials. Do civil servants really want to serve the society and understand what it means to serve? Do they know where they want to lead society? Do they know what they can contribute? If they can do all these then they are trustworthy. But what public servant is like that?

In order to reform public servants and scientists so they work for the sake of the public and not for themselves, we must transform our entire education system. From the earliest years and throughout people’s lives, they must be occupied in a continuous educational process.

When we are born, we are merely two-legged animals. Education must provide people not only with knowledge, but first and foremost with humane values, with ethics that place unity and friendship above selfishness and narcissism.

If people are not taught that society consists of many people working together to create a better life for everyone, how can we expect them to believe that working for the common good helps them personally? And if people in such a certain society do not feel connected and value mutual responsibility and concern for others, can they expect their representatives to care for them? Can a messenger of the public possess what the public that sent him does not have?

If food and other staples were distributed justly, there would not be a single hungry person in the world. All our basic needs and staples are abundant and cheap. The only reasons they are not accessible to everyone are greed and cruelty. If the world were to produce twice as much as it does today, the have nots would still not have.

In other words, there is no lack of supply; there is an awful lack of the will to supply it. In our global age, the whole world must function like a single unit. Getting there is a gradual process, but it is happening whether we want it or not. If we learn how to utilize it for everyone’s benefit and agree to work as one global unit, we will all benefit from the abundance in this world, and there will be no hunger or wars. If we refuse to accept that we are all one humanity, then the current campaign in eastern Europe will be but the harbinger of many more afflictions to come, and they will come at our own hands.

My new article on Linkedin “Too Close for Comfort to WWIII”

The war in Ukraine is no longer a local conflict. Chechnya has joined Russia, and Belarus is supporting it. Opposite them stands Ukraine, with the US, NATO, and many other countries supporting it with logistics and weapons. But while the West is trying to choke Russia financially, China has stepped in to its help. Russia, for its part, has put its nuclear arms on high alert. While all this is going on, China appears to be preparing to retake Taiwan by force, and has threatened the US not to interfere, stating that “whoever plays with fire will burn himself,” and that if the US “plays the ‘salami-slicing’ tactics on the Taiwan question, it is its fingers that will be cut off.” In my opinion, we are too close for comfort to a third, nuclear world war.

We must remember that under the right circumstances, even a small spark can start a world war. Remember that World War I began with the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, the heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire in Sarajevo. When Austria invaded Serbia in retaliation, the military alliances of the adversaries dragged all of Europe into the battlefield. And because in those days, European countries had colonies around the world, the war soon turned into a global conflict.

Today’s world is laden with trigger-happy leaders who would gladly set the world aflame. Therefore, we should be concerned and understand that as bad as things are, they can become much worse, very soon.

Notwithstanding, when forces of separation awaken in the world, they are always a clarion, a herald that tells us that we must increase our efforts to connect, to bond with one another and rise above our mutual hatred. The only reasons for the afflictions and the terrible events unfolding in the world are hatred, cruelty, and the craving to tyrannize other people.

Therefore, any injustice is always a call to enhance unity, empathy, and care for one another. Times like these, when we are reminded of what really matters in life, are also an opportunity to form a better world and a more caring society.

This is not the time to bicker over historic justice and old scores. Now is the time to generate love, and we can do this only where there is no love today. If we build love where there was once hatred, it will be true love, our own creation, forged out of the ashes of the enmity we had defeated. We are living in challenging times, so we must rise to the challenge; we have no other choice.

Question: We are constantly worrying about climate change. Yet at the same time, a million animals and plants around the world are under threat of extinction. Scientists believe that this will be worse than climate change.

It is like starting to remove rivets from a plane in flight. One missing rivet is not so bad, but at some point, when too many rivets are missing, the plane will fall because it is one single system.

Tell me please, can the plane really crash or not?

Answer: It is quite possible. All this may fall apart, because the degree of connection that should be between inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human nature is gradually weakening more and more, up to the point that everything can really crumble. But so what?

Millions of years will pass and we will germinate on another planet, in another system.

Comment: But it is said that the Earth will not disappear.

My Response: This is the way it will not disappear. It is said that a second of the Creator is millions of years. Well, a couple of seconds will pass.

Question: A couple of millions of years! Will there be a planet with water, air, and a suitable atmosphere?

Answer: It doesn’t matter how. Perhaps we won’t be in our current form.

Comment: But you keep saying that humanity will not disappear. That is, a catastrophe may happen, but there will still be a handful of people who will have to fulfill the purpose of creation.

My Response: Yes, they will have to fulfill their purpose. But I do not know in what form.

Question: At the same time, do you assume that everything there is can disappear?

Answer: The fact that we are moving toward a huge thermonuclear war, and not even to one, but to two of them, is exactly what may happen according to the prediction of Kabbalists. It may happen.

Or, if, let’s say, we start working on ourselves, our minds, our heads, and seriously think about what we need to do in order to continue a normal life…but this means putting an end to our life that is anything but normal.

Question: Is it possible? Many people think that it is unknown whether humanity will come to its senses or not.

Answer: It is unknown. This state where humanity does not know is still a good state. This means that it is still possible to pull them so that they understand where the correct path is.

Question: Does some kind of leader need to appear for this or should it all come from below?

Answer: I do not think it should be some kind of leader. It should be teachers, many teachers in many languages. Each in his own style will explain to all the people on Earth how we can get rid of the terrible end and move to the next state in a good way.

Question: Can you say in one sentence how we can get rid of it?

Answer: Only through mutual care, love, and connection, by coming closer to each other.

Comment: You always have one and only conclusion.

My Response: This is so according to nature. I cannot invent it myself, and nature does not give me anything else.

Michael Laitman, On The Times of Israel: “In the End, There Is Only One”

In times like these, we can really feel what a revolutionary Abraham was. Nearly 4,000 years ago, he discovered that in the end, there is only one force that created and governs all of reality. At a time when his countryfolk were at odds with one another, killing each other on the doomed gradients of the Tower of Babel, he told them that there is only one force that governs the world, a force of unity, and that if we emulated it, we, too, would be as one. People laughed in his face and continued to squabble. Four millennia later, we are still at it. But in the end, there is still only one force, and unless we emulate it, we will suffer for who knows how many more millennia.

Precisely when hatred erupts, we must remind ourselves that it is erupting so that we will rise above it and demand connection, just like Abraham, demand that love will reign over hatred. Granted, we are mere mortals and cannot rise above our hate. However, we did not choose to be this way, and we are not meant to change ourselves. The force that created and sustains all of reality created it corrupt and hateful, and only this force can make it loving.

It has been done before, several times, when the people of Israel united at the foot of Mount Sinai “as one man with one heart,” or when King Solomon said, “Hate stirs strife, and love will cover all crimes” (Prov. 10:12). We need no other victory than to cover hate with love.

If we cannot turn to the Creator and ask Him to correct us, we can and should ask Him to give us the desire to ask Him. It is written about this, “Place in our hearts understanding, so we may understand and know how to listen, learn, and teach Your law with love” (from the Hebrew Shema prayer).

The difficult situations that arise among us in these fateful times do not happen so we will bicker like children. They happen so we will turn to the one, single force in all of reality, the Creator, and ask that it would make us all one, the same as itself.

The aspiration for oneness comes from the highest root of creation, from its very origin. The idea that being as one is the solution to all our problems and our happiest state comes to us because this is indeed our root, and when we are one, there can be nothing but peace and wholeness.

All the states of separation and division are therefore triggers to make us connect and unite a little more. Now that the great hatred has been exposed, it is time to make great efforts to unite. If we pray for the resolution of the problems of all the people in the world, we will stop the harsh decrees that afflict the world. If we place connection above separation and love above hatred, we will cover our crimes with love and heal the wounds of humankind.

Michael Laitman, On Quora: “What instigates hatred among humans?“

It is written, “the inclination of man’s heart is evil from his youth” (Genesis 8:21). Envy, lust, honor and hatred are egoistic emotions unique to humans. Moreover, human egoism constantly grows, and due to its constant growth, our egos are much worse today than they were in the past.

While the human ego is behind the hatred, rejection, alienation and suffering we feel in our world, we also need to understand that the reason we have been given such a nature and such broken relationships is so that we will correct them. Correcting our egoism means rising above it, and acquiring a new sense that feels the positive force of nature opposite our ego—the force of love, bestowal and connection. Likewise, only we humans can bring about such correction. Moreover, egoism constantly grows in order for us to see that unless we correct it, then we will plunge into such crises that we will have no choice but to correct it.

Question: Many people believe that the coronavirus is a man-made thing that was spread by man himself because we have become careless and arrogant, we have created so many laboratories and now we cannot control them. Or did the Creator send the virus to purge us a little?

Answer: It does not matter where it came from, whether people made it or the virus was sent from above. All the same, it is done by one single force, called the Creator, within which we exist.

Question: You once said that you welcome the spread of the virus on Earth. I still do not understand, what is the reason?

Answer: First, it sobers us a little, makes us be more restrained, and makes it clear that we cannot always control everything in our lives; there is something outside of us, above us, in spite of us. The virus, as it were, disciplines humanity a little.

Answer: Yes, it depends on how much you have developed and feel the actual nature of the world, that egoism lies at the basis of the nature of the world. When a person begins to feel this, he really gets lost: “Where can I go?”

There are people who go to some distant islands or somewhere in a village to live quietly by themselves. They even disconnect themselves from the outside world in some way. And there are others who believe that if they accumulate wealth, for example, they will protect themselves, their future, and their successors.

Question: So how can he live with this feeling that he constantly sees that he is being deceived everywhere?

Answer: This is the nature of the world, and then—Kabbalah.

If he does not agree with the nature of our world, then he can only do one thing, go against this nature.

Question: What question should he have?

Answer: He should ask a serious question: Is it possible that the world is arranged by lies or not?

The world is designed so that we can change it. Therefore in our egoism we perceive the world in this way. If we change ourselves, the world will change.

Answer: Certainly. Otherwise he will not change the world. We think about changing the world all the time. This is the highest egoism.

Comment: This means the media cannot be destroyed, the government cannot be overthrown, the managers cannot be replaced.

My Response: Don’t do all this. We must try to show the whole world that its very nature—still, vegetative, animal, and human especially—is absolutely egoistic. And we need to correct this nature. Moreover, it is corrected from the “human” level.

Question: Therefore I always start from myself?

Answer: Start from yourself and others, with the connection between us, with the connection between people, and then nature will change at all levels. From top to bottom it will go to the animal, vegetative and still world.

Question: If I, an ordinary person, start with the connection with my loved ones, start trying to make it kind—no matter what, no matter what skirmishes and so on—will I start changing the world?

Answer: Yes, of course!

Comment: There are such rulers around in this world today that a person wants to overthrow them so much!

My Response: No, there is no need to overthrow. That would be an even bigger mess. That is all the wrong technique. It is necessary not to overthrow. It is necessary to show them how this should change.

“On them” means that, in principle, we need to explain its essence to the world. And the rulers are puppets. The hearts of the rulers are in the hands of this upper nature. And we need to understand that it is an explanation—just an explanation—that can lead people to change their attitude to themselves, to the world, and to others.

Question: And if someone who sees a solid lie around starts explaining to himself and others that this is human nature, that it is necessary to rise above it, to work with it, and to switch to good connections, what will he see instead of this lie?

Answer: Huge egoism. And we need to talk about this. Where is the method of correcting the world? It is in correcting a person. But not just in shouting and putting pressure on others. Rather, the method is in teaching, ennobling, and changing a person.

Question: If I start to change, what do I see?

Answer: If I start to change, I begin to see that this is what the world needs. And the world will change accordingly along with this. I will see more and more goodness in this world. And to the extent that I have such an impact on the world, I will see how it is changing.

This way—through our attitude to the world, and not only from me—we will bring the world into a state of correct balance.

Question: How long will coronavirus last?

Answer: I hope that it will not end, but will deepen and expand more and more, that it will put such barriers between us that will show us how much we hate each other and how distanced we are from each other.

Answer: I say what I see. I cannot measure how it will be.

The coronavirus replaces a lot of bad events like wars for us. It distances people from each other and limits them. Therefore it is very good that it exists in this form.

I am all for the coronavirus being increased even more because it shows people at what distance they should be from each other, so their internal feelings correspond to the external ones. As long as you do not think good about a person, you will not be able to come close to him.
