Fight For Freedom

laitman_424.02The most dangerous state is neither ascent nor descent, but indifference. We do not have the strength to get out of it: neither upward nor downward. It is considered death. In a descent, a person experiences various problems, negative influences, and alien thoughts, but he is alive and not dead. Death is indifference.

The Creator says, “Come to Pharaoh!” That is, He invites us to find out how opposite we are to the upper force, to the spiritual world, bestowal, and love. We will then have tools for work: the Light will be revealed on the background of darkness.

Otherwise, we cannot discern nor feel it. Therefore, the Egyptian exile was necessary because it revealed our complete opposition to the Creator, since Pharaoh is the reverse side of the Creator. When a person discovers the full extent of such opposition, he is ready to exit Egypt.

Our problem is neither light nor darkness, but grey twilight, indifference. Nothing can be done there. If I am in prison and feel imprisoned, then I make every effort to escape. Yet, if I do not feel that I am in chains, in prison, cut off from real life, then I am ready to remain in this cell forever. There is no worse state. This is a real prison and only the environment can help a person.

Bad or good states both lead to advancement, but the state of indifference is absolutely static and takes up 90% of our time. It swallows our life, leaving us without any hope of reaching the purpose of creation. Therefore, we must fight against it. This is our area of freewill, the middle third of Tifferet, where neither forces from above nor forces from below act on us—we are in the middle between them and we cannot escape anywhere. This is the real prison.

The Creator Chose You

laitman_284It is said about the people of Israel: “The Creator chose you.” He chose them by giving them a bigger and more developed desire to enjoy. This would make them feel the need to engage in the purpose of creation and correction and find an answer to the question about the meaning of life.

Such questions were revealed in a small group of people whom Abraham took from all the Babylonians and formed as the group of “Israel” (Yashar-Kel – directly to the Creator). This is how their inner desire, received from above, was directed.

After the breaking of Adam’s soul from the tree of knowledge, all pieces fell and mixed. But under the influence of the reforming Light, the lightest and less broken parts of the soul begin to rise first. The people of Israel seem the most egoistic, but this is because egoism reveals itself in them. In fact, the greatest egoism lies in those souls that ascend later.

First, there was a shattering and mixing of all parts, and then it filtered from this sediment, from all its layers, and was distributed according to the degrees of egoism. The same order applies to our world. There are very intelligent people, scientists and inventors, and there are technical specialists and engineers who implement these inventions in practice. And then these innovations are transferred to people to use.

It is the same way, in the wisdom of Kabbalah, there are scholars who are Kabbalists. Then there is the “technical staff,” the students who take these ideas and bring them to the people. And when people receive it, then everyone uses it to the best of their ability.

For example, when one buys a car, he does not care what is inside the car, the main thing is to learn how to drive it. But there are specialists who built this car and understand how it works. The wisdom of Kabbalah is organized in the same way as other sciences.

Our generation is in crisis because it is time for us to know how nature works and to get to know all of its systems. We have already fully realized ourselves in the material form: What else can we do, add a few more buttons? A person will still remain the same inside.

Throughout the history of development, man has tried to build external systems that will give him happiness, joy, and tranquility. And we built a material paradise around ourselves, but we see that it has not brought happiness.

On the contrary, we hit a dead end. Material well-being does not free us from problems and does not fulfill us. It is now that we reveal that we are completely empty, although we are in the midst of complete abundance. This is called the realization of evil in which we understand that we need to correct ourselves within ourselves, because this is where the problem lies. Therefore, the time has come for this correction.

As once we were engaged in the correction of the external world, so now we need to turn to the correction of man’s inner world. And in this, too, there are “scientists,” “engineers,” and “users.”

Purim ‑ The Last Of All Corrections

laitman_282.01Purim is the last of all of corrections, which each time requires the desire to receive to be combined with the desire to bestow so that they connect with each other.

The goal of creation is to fill the desire to receive with the entire Light of Hochma, with the intention to bestow. However, the desire to bestow is very weak; it does not have any intention to receive pleasure. Bestowal is Bina, and it is opposite to Malchut.

That is why it is necessary to somehow awaken the desire to bestow so that it would be motivated to do something. The righteous have no needs. Mordechai sits on a rock at the king’s gates and does not worry about anything until he sees that the situation is dangerous and it is impossible to sit still any longer.

Otherwise, even the bestowing, weak desires will disappear as they combine with the desires to receive in the great kingdom of Malchut ‑ the people of Israel, scattered throughout all the 127 countries.

However, on the other hand, it is impossible to work only with the desire to bestow without engaging the desire to receive, since correction needs to be realized. Therefore, we must first awaken Haman, so that the desires to receive think that the Light is meant only for them. We see that in the evolutionary process, our egoism constantly grows and in the end wants to swallow everything.

At the same time, we realize that the goal of creation cannot be realized in the desire to receive. Egoism is not designed for that. It is final, and having received fulfillment, loses the desire. Light extinguishes the desire. That is why it is impossible to receive infinite Light with the desire to receive. In and of itself, it is very limited.

Moreover, it is impossible to receive the Light with the desire to bestow. It does not want to receive. It only wants to give. That is why a certain combination of desire to receive and desire to bestow is needed, which is called “the middle line.” Using both types of desires and the right kind of combination solves this problem, and this solution must be discovered by the individual! The Creator will not organize such a correction and finish it.

That is why, first the power was given to Haman so that he would think everything is for himself and would begin to rule and move to destroy the desires opposite to his own, in other words, to use them for his own benefit. Haman hoped to sit on a horse and command Mordechai as to where he should lead the horse.

However, the opposite was the case: since the possibilities for egoistic bestowal are limited, the intention for one’s own benefit is limited. Egoism, having received fulfillment, disappears, since pleasure extinguishes desire. That is why the only method to obtain infinite pleasure and unlimited fulfillment is to receive in order to give. Only this type of vessel is unlimited.

It turns out that Mordechai sits on the horse and Haman leads the horse according to Mordechai’s direction. This is called “receiving the light of Haman in the vessels of Mordechai.” Then, we can receive all the pleasure coming from the Creator into the receiving desires, with the intention to bestow, which is why the Light that fills it is limitless.

Therefore, in the process of correction, combining desires to receive and bestow always takes place. We must distinguish them from each other and give greater value to one, and then to the other: the desire to receive—Haman, then bestowal—Mordechai.

If the desire to receive is not given the opportunity to develop, then we cannot progress. And if Mordechai, the intention to bestow, is not given power over the desire to receive, then he will be limited. Therefore, there is this constant combination of these two approaches until the formation of a clear middle line occurs that includes the desire to receive and the desire to bestow together, and which leads us to the end of correction.

Remember…

Laitman_020The holiday of Purim is the happiest holiday, the best time for great mercies. Purim symbolizes our whole spiritual work.

All holidays are related to the correction of the shattered soul of Adam HaRishon, the first man, but only Purim signifies the completion of this process, the very last action, called Gmar Tikkun, the end of correction.

Then we remember all our egoistic desire to receive pleasure in its entire tremendous scope and understand that we cannot withstand it in any way. We are very weak. Even the righteous Mordechai sits on a rock in front of the king’s gate, a poor old man no one considers, while Haman rules the entire kingdom as the king’s right hand.

The Creator purposely crowns egoism to rule, as it is written, “I created the evil inclination.” And Pharaoh (egoism) is the king of the world in various roles and characters. Only when a person feels his very existence is threatened does he wake up. Who helps him wake up? Haman does by telling him, “Let’s destroy this root that could awaken, the desire to bestow or intention in order to bestow, at its basis. Why should we keep it? I’m the king!”

When we reach that height of the will to receive that wants to control everything with the intention in order to receive, then we will discover that the desire to receive is unchangeable matter, but the intention to receive is incorrect and we can control the desire to receive with the intention to bestow. Although the intention to bestow is against nature, very weak, against our consciousness, understanding, and nature itself, and in addition, the king, i.e., the Creator, doesn’t support it, nevertheless it’s still there. How is it possible to fight this? The intention to bestow is too weak, too tenuous, and delicate to stand up to Ahasuerus who supports Haman with the power of evil.

But there is a part of the desire to receive that is called “the Jews” (Yehudi) because this part possesses the potential force of unity. If a severe threat looms over them, they will unite. Even though this unity is forced upon them, elicited by the fear of destruction, it nonetheless draws to them the Light that reforms, the upper force. The upper force is awakened in King Ahasuerus who initially supported Haman, but after the Jews’ unity, he fully and happily supports Mordechai.

It all depends on that group, which is called in its potential, “the Jews” (the Hebrew word for “Jew” [Yehudi] comes from the word for “united” [yihudi]). Then, when they unite, first coercively then later willingly, they then have great strength first to control King Ahasuerus, and later they destroy Haman’s power, the whole evil inclination that could have easily destroyed them.

This was all done by their uniting and attracting a great force, which helped them unite even more, then by acting through the power of unity they subdued the power of separation, the power of Haman.

They do that in every degree and state because this is the correction, but in Purim it plays out as a miracle. Purim is about a very huge will to receive, in its 32 parts, which are impossible to correct directly. That is why it is considered a miracle, because we can correct 288 parts of the will to receive gradually over 125 degrees, but the stony heart joins all those corrections, but it doesn’t appear. Only in the final action does the stony heart surface and become corrected through 288 parts, and the 32 parts also enter the correction all at once. Then, the Light of the end of correction comes.

In Purim, we can see the entire process of correction: the exile, the liberation in all of its forms. That is why Purim begins with the reading of the chapter “Remember what Amalek did to you.” Intention for own benefit, called the evil inclination or Amalek, accompanies us the entire time, and it is precisely because of Amalek that we come to the Creator.

If not for this evil inclination, we never would have awakened to unity, would never have revealed our separation from the Creator, and would not have achieved similarity of form with Him. It is impossible to achieve adhesion without the help of this evil force that is working in the left line.

That is why we must remember what Amalek did to us. In every state, the Creator sends us help against Him, and this is a great help. We just need to know how to relate to these forces of nature correctly.
