Kabbalah comes to the rescue to today’s education and parenting crisis

Hyperactivity is a natural phenomenon in the new generation of children.

About 80% – 90% of children today are hyperactive. Many of them are prescribed Ritalin. Parents are told, “Don’t bring your child to school if you don’t give him Ritalin.” It has become almost a prerequisite at schools.

But this is certainly wrong. Kabbalah explains that people change from one generation to another because our desire constantly grows. People in the new generation have greater desires than those in the previous generation. Hence, they develop new technologies, society and thereby humanity advances. For this reason every generation is greater than the one preceding it.

Today we have reached a special generation where the ego has leapt to such a height that we are incapable of using it in the right way. We don’t understand children, so instead of understanding them, we want to calm them, as if to stop them, to chain them down with Ritalin. But it only stops a person and doesn’t let him develop.

It is not that a particular child is hyperactive. It would be one thing if it was one or two children, but today 80-90% of the children experience this phenomenon. So it isn’t an exception at all. This is what the generation is like, and we want to put it in shackles, to put it in prison.

A child has to run, a child has to jump, a child has to be “hyperactive.” He has to bring out his energy, his desire in order to develop. And if we put restrictions on him, if we medicate him, we will certainly harm him both physically and mentally.

If it is a prevalent phenomenon, we must approach it delicately, as something natural and necessary for development. We have to admit to ourselves that we don’t know how to deal with such children, how to calm them down, place them in schools and set limits. Regardless, Ritalin is not the correct approach to it.

Kabbalah comes to the rescue to today’s education and parenting crisis

Children will always want to be like adults. So if we want them to behave differently, we should first learn to do it ourselves.

From the very first days of a child’s life, we try to teach them the art of communication. We want children to “play beautifully,” so we organize holidays and birthdays for them. We are concerned how to maximize their free time, and we spend considerable resources on educational games and training manuals for them. We are pleased when other adults can appreciate our children’s intelligence and good manners. But we often forget that almost every day while children are at school they have to take the exam “for survival” among their peers.

Adults are always ready to meet children halfway, forgive and pity them, whereas in their relationships they have to fight with “fire and sword” for their rights: demand and give in, attack and defend, get used to their peers hostility towards them. And in spite of how much effort we spend to create an oasis for the child’s happiness and prosperity, his real life happens outside our house.

There, in the big world, a child immediately has to learn to play according to different rules. He can see that the success and prosperity are earned with a lie, intrigues and brute force. But we ourselves have written these rules. Without taking notice of it, we accustom children to a policy of double standards. Every parent has roughly the same thoughts: “I am ready to do everything for my children to do well. And not just do well, but better than others.”

With this “better than others” thinking we are slowly but consistently sawing the bough we sit on. At first children will subconsciously and then consciously adopt the rules of the game. The world is divided into “us” and “them” and if “they” stand in the way of our interests, they immediately become an ‘outlaw’. Outside of “our” law. Needless to say, we can see disastrous results of such an outlook in everyday life.

Is there an alternative? Kabbalah argues that yes, it exists, and by this way the interests of all will be taken into account. This means that regardless of affiliation to a certain group of people on social, national, religious and other grounds, every person is guaranteed respect for his vital interests. This will become not only the letter of the law, written in the constitution, but also inner aspiration of most people.

This is possible provided that everyone without exception follows the rule “anything that you hate, do not do to your friend”. Simply by adhering to this rule, life would literally change, for the better, right before our eyes.

And children? Children will always want to be like adults. If we, the adults, begin to behave in another way, children will immediately imitate us. In kindergartens, schools and in the street, new games will appear in which children will learn from each other to live in a world of good. Therefore, the best that we can do for our children is to start with educating ourselves.

In the News (NPR): “A controversial new Japanese government campaign is urging young people to drink more alcohol to boost the economy. It comes as young Japanese people are turning away from drinking. …

“The campaign is dubbed Sake Viva. …  Sake Viva is a contest aimed at 20 and 30-somethings to suggest new ways to make and sell alcoholic beverages.”

My Response: What are they doing it for the sake of money?! Of course, the world already goes to extremes, especially with young people. Alcohol is such that you get used to it and then you cannot live without it. It is like a drug.

Question: Let’s say people have an idea like this. How should they deploy it? You keep saying that our connection—searching for the connection with each other, and so on—will change everything. If an idea came to them to enact a different law so that the law would be about greater connection, would tax revenues and money fall into the cash register of Japan or not? What do you think?

Answer: I do not know if it would be in the form of money; I cannot say. But the situation would become better; everything would improve, not in the form of tax revenues, but in the form of the general state of society, family, and other aspects of life. Of course it would be different.

Question: Basically they are trying to solve some narrow problem. They also have family, fertility, and ecological problems, whatever. You say that there is a law that can balance everything.

Won’t the government and authorities then not have the idea that they need people to drink more?

My Response: The only question is how popular it will be, how much the Japanese will go for it. But such a closed society as Japan could try to do it.

Question: Should they conduct such an experiment on the island? What would humanity see then?

Answer: Humanity would see a huge leap in all areas of life.

Question: Would technology and Japan then be popular all over the world again?

Answer: Everything would go up.

Comment: What is your advice to the Japanese government considering everything that has been said?

My Response: Think about what you are doing. If you drive a people like the Japanese into a new pattern of alcohol consumption, after which drugs and so on will follow since  everything leads to one thing after another, it is impossible to get out of this. Especially with the Japanese character.

Therefore, I strongly advise you: take ancient Jewish wisdom as a basis, which says that only coming closer to each other of members of society will lead the entire society to prosperity and solve absolutely all problems.

Question: When a child is learning to speak how are the connections of language perception built? And why is the native language stuck in so deeply that even if he is learning a foreign language he still has some accent?

Answer: Language is a program in which the inner sensation of understanding becomes associated with its verbal expression. Contacts between the inner sensation and verbal expression are a huge program of associations and images.

It is formed within us, locked between images and their semantic concepts, their expression by facial expressions, and their entire feeling because when a person speaks, he plays this image within himself. All of this is built within us during approximately the first two years of life.

I think if we started to teach our children a few languages until they are two years old, these languages would become their native languages. A person would change from one program to another the same way as a computer has Word, Excel, and other programs.

When a person becomes more grown, it is happening more artificially, meaning, an internal language exists and also an external translation exists. Although it may be very easy and very transferable, it is already not a native language. Therefore one cannot do anything here.

There are people like me who have such a strong connection with their native language that they are incapable of freely mastering a different language. If I lived, let’s say, in an English environment, I would certainly switch, otherwise it is very hard.

However, there are people for whom it is very easy. In general, these are young women of 16 to 17 years old or even younger. They capture languages in the absolute and clear way because they are tuned to understand children, to talk to them. Their response for adaptation is much higher than men’s.

Question: How should we treat incidents from a human and Kabbalistic point of view? For example, something is happening, or someone is getting beaten. How should we react to this? Is intervening worthwhile?

Answer: Today we have been put in such a framework that people are afraid to interfere in anything. There are even studies on these topics. People pass by, they are afraid to get involved in conflicts: either you will get a knife in your side, or “it is not my business at all” so that they do not drag you through the courts.

We have created for ourselves such conditions of human community where it is impossible to just stand up for someone, even for simple, normal support or compassion. It is impossible to calm people down, it is impossible to break up a fight, because then they will do anything they want to you.

Humanity is very confused! It tries to compensate with laws for what is not filled with education. Men are not men, women are not women.

Look at how much humanity has changed internally and externally in 20 years, what they are becoming in their desires and aspirations, in everyone’s attempt to solve their questions and problems. It is just incredible! There are the scariest mutations! And where we will end up? We have just started this journey!

Comment: But there are old laws where one has to help the other.

My Response: Today they limit you. These are not the former laws of honor, which were clear to everyone, or the laws of chivalry, or the laws of samurai, or the laws of courtiers, which speak about the honor of a woman, justice, etc. If we are talking about a simple civil society, then we have destroyed it all.

No one respects another. There are no smart or stupid, old or young, men or women. There is some kind of unisex where there is no difference, you are afraid to interfere, you do not have any guidelines. You can be dragged through a legal fight just for some little thing! They will make a case out of it and, in general, do anything. There is no public response to this, because everything is corrupt.

Even during the Inquisition, there was relative order. The most ardent executioners and fanatics still behaved according to some canon.

Today it is very difficult for a person to promote some idea or advocate for something. This is natural. The last cry of dying humanity.

Question: Is it right to strive for honor and justice? Did we live correctly before?

Answer: It is impossible to say what is right and what is not because this is the natural development of humanity. There is no escape. If we do not correct egoism, we descend into really ugly forms.

In accordance with this, we continue to drift in the direction where it is generally unclear what awaits us. The same egoism keeps carrying us. We forget all the old forms when it was more or less balanced at the animate level, and now it is already taking mutational forms.

Children leave home, they do not want to work and do not want to study. And you cannot blame them for that! This is also our egoism, which goes through such stages of its mutational development. But this is also development, so to speak, a period of decay.

Solution is only in education.

Question: Is it necessary to develop a person’s responsibility for what he does?

Answer: No! And for what can you beat him or reward him? For the society in which he is. So, society overlooked it.

Question: But he still needs to understand his responsibility. Or is he like a child who broke a cup and says, “It fell by itself!”? But it never falls, a sane person should somehow understand this?

Answer: There is no such thing as common sense! Any person, including a Kabbalist, understands everything only within the limits of his level and no more than that.

All of us are, at best, on the “ladder,” and sometimes under it. So, everyone, to the extent of his spiritual correction, can clearly understand, know, and be responsible for his actions up to this stage. And above that, no. He will always be wrong.

This is the only way we can evaluate a person. If I know exactly my measure or the measure of someone else, then I can load myself or him with any actions up to a certain level, and this will be done correctly in accordance with the program of nature.

My Response: You have raised a “good” son.

Question: So you blame her?

Answer: Of course, it’s her fault, but who else?

My Response: It doesn’t matter. Anyway, the demand is from the parents.

If parents ask themselves harshly what is happening to their children, then this will not happen.

This means that there is such a situation at home. Precisely at home, the situation is like that! It’s in the air. About the fact that you can kill an animal or even a stranger, some homeless person, and then others in general.

My Response: Check what your son “feeds on.”

My Response: I also grew up in an environment where around me boys of the same age as me were then in prison. Such were the problems!

Answer: No.

Question: What is the advice to parents if they see that the child is heading downward? What advice would they give to them if he fell into some kind of bad company?

Answer: Isolate. And give anything but bad company. My father took me to see good films about all sorts of musicians. He himself was a very big fan of cinema.

Comment: Meaning, he understood that it was necessary to surround you with this.

My Response: Yes. I believe that this must necessarily be done.

Comment: In general, the view today is that I put the child in front of the computer or the TV, just so he will be silent.

My Response: There is no such thing. It depends on the internal situation in the house. The child feels very much what is important to parents and what is not, what they welcome, what they prefer, respect.

Question: So, in principle, you are talking about another school—the school of parenting?

Answer: Of course, the only way is to educate parents and for parents to create such an environment at home in which the child can breathe the right air.

Question: Suppose a person has a tendency to steal. What action should be taken against him?

Answer: Correction. Everyone steals. Everyone! Neither you nor I can vouch for ourselves either. It depends on where, how, what, consciously, unconsciously, or perhaps he was framed somehow.

You cannot allow a person to be around such things that he can steal. We must protect him from such actions. It all depends on the level of his education.

Of course if I have a natural tendency to steal, then I cannot just be allowed to do certain things. Question: How can we do this in a Kabbalistic society?

Answer: Everything is based on completely different principles in a Kabbalistic society. As Baal HaSulam writes in the book The Writings of the Last Generation, everyone receives as much as he or she is entitled to according to the amounts that society determines in accordance with the personal and family needs of a person. Therefore, one does not need to steal. There is nowhere to steal from, and no need to do so.

A person is constantly in a state of being influenced by the correct environment, and systematically undergoes training by improving on one’s own and attending improvement courses.

If we begin to gradually curtail our economy, close enterprises not by directive, but according to our education, and send people to classes, then the crisis would calm down and there would be no overproduction. First you need to invest everything in education.

My Response: Our current education is, of course, coercion.

A poor child is given a backpack or a briefcase, and that is it. He goes off to school for half a day. And what does he see there?

Suppose young children still have underdeveloped egoism. A child is placed at the desk, everyone is sitting, he is sitting, and using the herd instinct.

But, in principle, it is necessary to educate in a live manner, in nature, in motion. Children are already sitting with their computers with all sorts of cartoons before school. They sit more than they move and play.

Proper education is in movement, in games, in interaction with each other, in live interaction with the teacher, in understanding the world, animals, visiting all sorts of enterprises, in discussing everything that happens.

It is also in discussion that children find a common language with each other that develops for up to twenty years. At the same time, you are building a new society; from school to school, to enterprises, to hospitals, anywhere, they must walk together, discuss together, and thus gradually adapt to another world, feel it closer and better. For them, loaves of bread do not grow on trees.

This is what we need. In this way the whole section of the population, class by class or group by group, moves toward entering the world. They become properly interconnected by integral education, upbringing, and so on.

This should be done literally from kindergarten.

Comment: But you said that one should not put pressure on human nature.

My Response: Is this putting pressure? This is to attract the upper light in order for it to correct it. We have to do this as parents.

Why do you think that you do not put pressure on a child? Now you turn him into whatever you want, you force him. What does he understand, this little one? You take him to various activities, here and there.

Question: Does this mean that from childhood it is necessary to educate a child, but to educate him correctly?

Answer: In the integral community, of course. They, in general, are drawn to this because their egoism develops much later.

The true state of humanity is bestowal and love. How can we get to this, and arrive gradually? By conducting all kinds of seminars, through new literature, new art, new mutual relations, and new examples from all sides.

Then a person, as it were, enters a completely different environment and begins cooking himself internally and externally. In accordance with this, people will almost immediately begin to feel changes in themselves because light acts in a huge mass of people. These are amazing changes. These are such transformations!

People start thinking differently; they themselves reduce their egoistic zeal and forget about their egoistic dreams of getting more and more. All TV channels focused on “where to buy” and “what to sell,” which are built on egoistic stimulation, are being shut down. Completely different television and public channels are being turned on that are built on absolutely different principles. And re-education, re-education!

This system is created based on the system of nature that was formed naturally from the world of infinity. When you aspire for it, you just arouse it in yourself.

Here the method of simple induction works. When you approach a magnet in a magnetic field, like in a piece of electrical wire, a current appears in you. All kinds of mechanisms, generators, dynamos, etc. are built on this principle. A metal wire moving in a magnetic field causes electrons to move in it, that is, an electric current.

It is the same with us. We have to move in this field and then a “current” will be induced inside of us. And that is it; nothing more is required because in this case we will feel a completely different nature.
