We Exit Egypt Every Second

747.02The whole Torah writes only about how to get out of the egoistic desire and enter the desire of bestowal, which means exiting Egypt. Therefore, the whole method of spiritual correction is associated with Egypt. Every day, in every action, a person should remember how he came out of Egypt.

With each of our actions, we want to rise above the egoistic qualities that are increasingly revealed in us every second. It turns out that we are always coming out of our egoism, out of Egypt, either physically or mentally.

The physical exodus from Egypt may be long-past history, but it is not about history and geography. It is about human qualities. I am constantly discovering new egoism in myself and must always rise above it, which is called coming out of Egypt. Every action and effort we make is directed at how to escape from the Egyptian slavery.

For this exodus, everyone must come together. The plagues of Egypt came for this purpose, and the first blow occurred even earlier among the sons of Jacob and forced them to descend into Egypt.

The brothers did not want to join Joseph, whose name means “gatherer,” that is, a special quality that should unite us. They did not want to unite, so they sold Joseph into Egyptian slavery. But then, because of hunger and adversity, they themselves were forced to descend into their egoism, into Egypt, and when they met Joseph there, they joined together.

The Torah tells us about all the situations that can arise in the process of our work in connecting in tens and how to begin to appreciate the quality of Joseph due to the correct connection.

And then from Joseph we come to Moses (from the word “Moshech, pull”). After all, Moses was pulled out of the waters of the Nile as a baby, and on the other hand, he pulls out all the people of Israel, everyone who wants to get out of their egoism, out of Egypt, out to the Creator.

“Earth (Eretz)” means “desire (Ratzon)”, and “Israel (Yisrael)” means straight to the Creator (Yashar Kel). From the first introduction to the science of Kabbalah to the end of correction, we are concerned only with how to get out of our egoism, that is, out of Egypt.

New Life 1291 – Determining Direction And Goals In A Changing Reality

New Life 1291 – Determining Direction And Goals In A Changing Reality
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Young people want to succeed but they find it difficult to choose the right goals and direction in a changing reality. Although reality is changing and the future feels uncertain, humanity is moving in one direction: toward integral connection between everyone.

Every individual will need to learn how to relate to himself, others, and society with a proper attitude within the next few years. Whoever works to connect people into a good, mutual, integral system will not lose.

The most important factor in choosing a workplace will be whether there is a spirit of connection between the workers or not. If we feel that we are not alone but in a group with people who help and support each other, we will be able to succeed in everything.

Movement Of Unification

282.01Question: What is one soul?

Answer: One soul is one desire that was completely connected to the Creator and then broke into many parts, like in the Big Bang only at a higher level.

When a person comes to a Kabbalistic group, it is explained to him that our entire movement is toward unification.

In fact, it is written in ancient sources that in the time of ancient Babylon, all of humanity was like one family. No one wanted to dominate others. But then they experienced a sudden explosion of egoism between them. So Abraham, who was their spiritual leader, called everyone to unite.

Question: How does this happen in a person?

Answer: A person begins to understand that he has no other choice. If he wants to reveal the Creator, the meaning of life, then he must shift to the next state, from the egoistic quality of reception, the egoistic power over others, to shift into a state of unity, love, bestowal, and connection.

Who To Team Up With?

525Question: Few people are able to connect with their own people such as parents, spouses, and their own children. How can I unite with other people’s children if I can’t unite with my own?

Answer: We unite, not with other people’s children and people, but with like-minded people who have the same goal as us: to rise above our egoistic nature and begin to feel higher powers. “Higher” does not mean mystical forces. They are simply above our egoism.

All that we feel now are egoistic forces within the inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human levels in nature. We need to rise above all of that. Then, we will really begin to feel all matter, all nature, and all creation.

For this, we need a few more people with whose help we can work our way out of ourselves and out of our egoism in order to feel everything that exists outside of us. This is how it works.

Question: How will the upper force manifest itself? What is this feeling?

Answer: This is the property of bestowal and love that will bind us to everything and to everyone and, this way, we will include the entire universe, meaning all the worlds and all the universes. Everything will suddenly come together into one specific system and will be felt inside of us.

Disappearing Distances

546.02Question: Do Kabbalists know how to measure distance?

Answer: Yes, but this is a very difficult technique since they measure the distance, not only between egoisms, but also between altruisms, meaning between souls.

Question: How is this distance measured?

Answer: In Kabbalistic units.

Question: How much personal space does a person need physically?

Answer: I think that, as a result of our correction, we will come to a state where we will not need any space between us, but will begin to live together as one person with one heart.

Question: When uniting, is it important to observe personal space? Do we annul it, dissolve into each other or rise above it and each person remain with his own space?

Answer: No. We are united by the common power of the Creator that fills and embraces us.

Fear Is A Driving Force

633.3Question: There are hundreds of types of fear in a person. Can any lack felt within me be interpreted as fear?

Answer: No, fear is a specific feeling of being afraid of your unfulfilled desires, up to the desire to live.

Question: Is fear a positive feeling, an emotion?

Answer: There are no negative emotions and desires. It all depends on how we use them.

If a person has no fear, how can he move forward? He must be afraid in order not to remain in the same state but to advance, to reach the goal, and to make himself a more corrected being. This is all necessary for him.

Question: There are different levels of fear. For example, are the fear of illness and the fear that you will not be able to bring contentment to the Creator different types?

Answer: Of course. Yet, nevertheless, they should be directed to one source—the Creator.

Question: Does it mean that there is no such thing in Kabbalah that you need to get rid of fear as taught in psychology?

Answer: In Kabbalah, you need to build a new kind of fear every time to move you forward. A person cannot advance only by positive forces. He also needs negative forces.

Negative forces push him from behind and positive forces pull him forward.

What Is Good?

568.01Question: How can we know what is good? What actions lead to good and what to bad?

Answer: Everything that leads people to unite and to unite more and more, not some partial, but limitless unification, is the path to good.

Question: Good intentions very often lead to bad consequences. Is it possible to safeguard against bad consequences?

Answer: Imagine that all of humanity must become one single family. If you strive to do this, then it will be good. There is no other good.

“Why We Are Stoic About Two Million Covid Fatalities” (Linkedin)

My new article on Linkedin “Why We Are Stoic about Two Million Covid Fatalities”

Over the past year, some two million people have died of the coronavirus disease. Yet, how alarmed are we? Let’s face it; we’re not. We’re terribly anxious over the shutting down of businesses, movie theatres, sports arenas, schools, and other such deprivations of entertainment and engagement, but what about the two million victims of the virus? We’re quite stoic about it.

Indeed, if you consider the global population, two million fatalities from Covid-19 is not a lot. We treat it like a natural phenomenon, a case of force majeure so to speak, so we are pretty calm about it.

But there is a bigger problem here: We are oblivious to the purpose of the plague, and because of it, we are already brewing the next blow, which will be more painful and more widespread than even the coronavirus. If all we care about is not being able to go to bars and movies, then we are bringing on ourselves a worse disaster than the virus, something that will force us to look for the root of these catastrophes, and not pin our hopes on vaccines that are only good until the next, resistant mutation comes along.

The root cause of the plague is our corrupt relations toward each other. These relations aren’t just smashing the fabric of society, as we are seeing now all over the US. Exploitation and ill-will are destroying the fabric of our entire world. They are deleterious to our society, to our planet, to our health, and to all animal species. They prevent us from cooperating for the benefit of all of humanity; they do not let us work shoulder to shoulder to save our planet. The distrust does not let us mend the wounds of our society, which leads to violence, aggression, bigotry, poverty, depression, substance abuse, and wars.

Our mistreatment of each other causes us to mistreat everything around us: the soil, the water, the air, plants, animals, and people. All of them suffer because we hate each other, and they react accordingly. This is why storms are growing more intense, fires more widespread and common, and plagues spread faster and appear sooner than ever before. The message from all of them is clear: Fix your relations or your relations will destroy you.

We haven’t the prerogative to be stoic about Covid-19’s victims because doing so destroys our future. If we correct our relations, it will calm the ordeals that I just mentioned and we will find peace, and peace of mind. Otherwise, we’re in for a very bad year, and an even worse decade.
