The Difference between the Quality of “Akudim” and the World of Akudim

548.03Question: Is there a difference between the quality of Akudim and the world of Akudim?

Answer: Of course there is. The world of Akudim is something that exists, is global and self-contained. It has special qualities that distinguish it from others.

Question: Why do we need the quality of Akudim? How does it help us?

Answer: It doesn’t. We simply study what kind of desires were created by the Creator, and this helps us grow.

We need to understand where they begin and what defines them. When we reach the level of these desires, we will be able to connect with them and become similar to them.

Everything Is Decided in the Rosh

232.08The Rosh (head) of the Partzuf represents Keter. This means that the Rosh is the highest Sefira and it determines to what extent and how the light spreads inside the Kli.

The Rosh is always first. It identifies which lights, how much and where they will enter.

Question: On what basis does the Rosh make the calculation of how much light it can let through? Where does it get this understanding?

Answer: All of this already exists in it. To the extent that the light fills the desire to receive,  accordingly, the Kli receives for the sake of bestowal.

Don’t Regret the Past

202In Kabbalah, there is essentially no such thing as past or future, only the present.

Question: Do you ever regret something from the past? Does a memory ever flash something before you that makes you flinch?

Answer: Everything has passed.

Comment: So this conversation we are having right now, this is this life. And everything that was and everything that will be no longer matters?

My Response: None of it depends on us in any way.

Comment: Teach me to live like that. I can say that, but a moment later, I will be tested, and I will be weak.

Answer: No, I am not worried about the past. Although if I were to count how much time I have wasted and on what, well, of course.

Comment: It is a a lot.

My Response: But that is how it must be. Agree that everything is done by the Creator, and when it comes to the past, that is especially true! You fully support Him, trust Him, and accept it.

Comment: And yet, about the future. Everyone dreams of the future, everyone hopes for something that will come. That cannot be taken away from a person.

My Response: You see, if you think about the future, you are taking it away from the Creator. That is not allowed either.

Question: Is that also His prerogative?

Answer: That too, yes.

Question: So if I define this formula for myself, then what?

Answer: In that very moment, I am connected with the Creator, merge with Him, cleave to Him, and I want nothing else, like a child clings to its mother, that is what he wants, that is all! That is how we should be.

Comment: So the essence of this formula is to cling to the Creator?

My Response: Yes.

Question: The past is His, the future is His. But this present moment, is it mine? Do I still exist here?

Answer: I exist. In the present, there is “I.” And only I determine that I want to be with the Creator, to hang onto Him.

Question: Right now?

Answer: Yes, that is all. There is nothing else. Nothing.

The Law of Spiritual Ascent

939.01If one does not have any desire or craving for spirituality, if he is among people who have a desire and craving for spirituality, if he likes these people, (only under this condition!) he, too, will take their strength to prevail, and their desires and aspirations, although by his own quality, he does not have these desires and cravings and the power to overcome. But according to the grace and the importance he ascribes to (his environment) these people (who are around him), he will receive new powers (for the spiritual ascent) (Baal HaSulam, Shamati 99, “He Did Not Say Wicked or Righteous”).

This is simply a law. And if someone does not want to do it, I can repeat RABASH’s words to him: “Go back to your normal life and enjoy it. Enjoy food, sex, family, money, fame, power, travel, and entertainment.”

Either you put all your strength into spiritual attainment, as written in Kabbalistic sources, or leave this path and live an animal life, at least you will enjoy it as an animal. Otherwise, you will lose both. This is called “a fool sits idly by” unable to do what is required of him for spiritual attainment, and “gnaws at himself.”

Unfortunately, I see a lot of such people. Let us hope that from now on, we will change our perspective and move forward correctly.

Rather, it is one person who can help another by seeing that one’s friend is low. It is written, “One does not deliver oneself from imprisonment.” Rather, it is one’s friend who can lift his spirit (RABASH, “Each One Shall Help His Friend”).

That is, we should not forget that in spirituality, all our advancement is possible only through the strength we receive from the environment. All human strength is physical strength in this world. To ascend into spirituality, I must receive strength only from the group. I do not have an ounce of strength to move forward alone. Every bit of strength I receive from the group propels me toward the Creator.

How Can One Love Someone They Hate?

236.01Question: Hatred, as I understand it, is my natural state. From where will the desire to love the one I hate come to me?

Answer: From above, from the Creator, only from Him.

When you truly want love for others to appear within you, then you will begin to ask for it, and it will appear.

Because in your intention to express love toward others, within that very intention, you will begin to feel the opposite quality of the Creator—how He loves you. And your mutual love toward others and the love of the Creator toward you will complement one another, merge into each other, and fill each other.

This is the state called the upper world.

A Group Is a Circle with the Creator at Its Center

528.04Question: How can you check whether you are applying your 100% effort toward the group’s common center so that a proper circle is formed?

Answer: One hundred percent effort in the group can be checked by whether you are left without a single thought about yourself because you understand that all your attainments, even egoistic (Lo Lishma) ones exist only in its center.

There is no other place where you could reveal anything greater than earthly, material life except in the group’s central point. And now, all together, like children in a kindergarten, try to make a circle!

But where is that center? How do you find it? There is no center; it is an imaginary point. First you must make the circle, and then you will find its center. This approach is accepted in the spiritual realm.

In the material world, you first choose the center and then draw a circle around it with a compass. In the spiritual world, we reveal the central point in which the Creator is found precisely by building the circle. And then we reveal Him. We proceed from below upward in our revelation.

Within a single person, there is nothing to be done; he will remain at the degree of animal desire. But if he builds a circle with other people, a human form, Adam, is formed, that is, one similar to the Creator. If everyone is in balance, in harmony, all connected, that form that resembles the Creator, is called Adam, a man.

How then do we by our common efforts build the circle among us? All the writings of RABASH about the group explain that. Each must annul himself relative to the others in order to receive from them the greatness of the goal. And the goal is the attainment of mutual bestowal.

We all together apply a single common effort toward one another, and all together toward the Creator. This is called: “Israel, the Torah, and the Creator are one.” After all, we all wish to build among us a network of mutual connections that covers and fills the entire circle we construct. And when we complete it, we reveal the Creator in the center of that constructed circle.

We sense Him throughout the whole network that covers this circle and stretches between us, but His root is in the very center.

We Must Accept the Reign of Love

294.4What is love? It is when I feel myself physically connected with another, dependent on him and he on me so much so that I cannot exist without him, and he cannot exist without me. Such a state obliges us to care for one another.

Question: So I have a desire for him to feel good all the time? For him to be happy?

Answer: I think about him because by doing so, I also ensure my own well-being.

Comment: You are not destroying this egoistic foundation. You are not destroying it; it always remains.

My Response: And it is necessary. You cannot get rid of it. It is like in a couple who love each other; it is egoistic love. They understand that without each other, they will feel worse. And they care for one another because in doing so each one is really caring for oneself.

Question: Then when does war, hatred occur? At what moment?

Answer: When those bonds are broken. When I stop caring about the other, I begin to fight with him. There can be no peace. Peace can exist only when we are dependent on each other, when this dependence is mutual, and when we absolutely must be together.

Question: So your main advice is to build such connections that can never be broken?

Answer: Yes.

Question: In everything, be dependent in everything?

Answer: In everything. That is how it is in nature. That is how it is in the global nature, in the  cosmos, everywhere is the same.

Question: If we speak of governments, should their main concern be to ensure that one cannot exist without another? That I cannot exist without the other?

Answer: Yes.

Question: What happened to the world then? Why is it like this?

Answer: People became independent. They think they can exist without one another, can conquer one another, and so on. But in fact, that is not the true principle.

Question: Yet we have always said that today’s world is interconnected, completely interconnected. Why don’t we see it?

Answer: We do see it. That is why the world still exists and remains interdependent. But you see how people use this mutual dependence in a way that leads to poverty, to death, and so on.

Question: So still, this principle “that I should feel good and not that he should feel good,” this principle rules—“that I should feel good”?

Answer: Unfortunately, a person does not understand the universal law that it can be good only if it is good for everyone. Otherwise, everything constantly boils in a cauldron of hatred. That is our egoism, created by the Creator so that we would see that we can never get along with each other except if we accept the rule of the Creator, the rule of love, and cover everything with this feeling, with this attitude.

Question: So this egoism, I must cover it with love?

Answer: Yes, and this must be practiced every day, remind ourselves, speak about it every day, and so on.

Comment: A person always feels that the work should end someday. But you say it will never end.

My Response: Never. Every day you must think about how you love the other and hear the same from him.

Comment: That requires not just inner strength but higher forces!

My Response: When you understand that it is inevitable, it no longer feels difficult.

Question: Is there a moment when it becomes an easy path?

Answer: Yes, it becomes second nature.

Question: And for close ones to live in peace and love, what is needed for that?

Answer: They must need each other, need and not suppress and get rid of each other to be free, but understand that their life, their freedom, their very existence depends on the other.

Prayer to the “Heart” of the Highest Degree

938.04We all understand how important prayer is, which emanates from our connection with each other, from a common heart. It has the power to rise directly to the Creator and enter into Him so that He will feel that we are all directed in only one direction: toward the connection between us and Him. Let’s hope that we will be able to do this. May the Creator help us!

The main thing is to achieve the right prayer, the right desire, by uniting all hearts into one heart, and from it raise our request to the Creator. We will try to create this common force, which is all directed at the Creator, and it will help us rise to the Creator and embrace each other. And then we will surely receive the same answer from Him. The Creator will embrace us all together and unite us into one body with this embrace.

Proper prayer is a request that comes from our common heart and reaches the “heart” of the highest level. Each of us joins this common heart, which aspires directly to the Creator and is included in Him. We have no other desire, and there is no other place for us but to feel ourselves at this central point of connection between all of us and in union with the Creator.

The task of every person at the congress is to find a way to unite with his ten and all the other tens into one big spiritual Kli, and to unite this common Kli with the Creator. That is, to unite into “one man with one heart” and thereby reveal the Creator.

We all cancel ourselves out and want to unite together into one desire in order to feel and reveal the Creator in this desire. Even if we are still far from each other, our desire to unite will bring us closer and raise our bond to the height of “one man with one heart.” And from this point, we will feel fused with the Creator into one whole.
