Form a Request to the Creator

945Question: A congress is a gift from the Creator. Today, we still have time to spend the whole day in one precise, well-thought-out prayer that the Creator can accept, and to receive an answer. After all, you said we would receive what we ask for.

We would like you to formulate a thought-through request that can enter every friend’s heart so that we would hold onto it. Not the thoughts and requests of everyone separately, but one big request from our one unified heart.

Answer: We must understand that the most important thing among us is what we see at all congresses, especially today, that we do not have a single intention, desire, or appeal to the Creator. There is no desire to feel everyone in my heart or for others to feel me.

What should we do to make it happen? How can we do it? You should think about this, hold gatherings of friends, and connect: “How should we understand our friends so they would be inside our connection?”
I think you can create such a request. You must try to do this.

How Do We Become Closer to the Creator?

938.02Question: What does “condensing the circle of the ten” mean?

Answer: “Condensing the circle of the ten” means that we should become closer to one another so that it is not the Creator who is constantly before us but rather our shared Kli (spiritual vessel).

The Creator is the light that fills us. Through our increasingly perfected Kli, we achieve closeness to Him.

Learn to Ask

947Question: How can we learn to ask the Creator without prescribing what actions He should take to fill our Hisaron (spiritual lack)?

Answer: Try to constantly ask for a deeper, more internal desire, one that is closer to the goal, and you will see that eventually the Creator will respond. There isn’t a long path ahead of you; there is only one request between you and the Creator.

The main thing is to ask. Like a small child who is always demanding, always asking their parents: “I want this, I want this, I want this!” And they give it to him. So, ask.

The Main Thing Is Connection with the Creator

144Question: What did Baal HaSulam mean when he said, “Better death than such a life”? From a material point of view, this refers to a person who has lost the taste for life and wants to end it. But what does this feeling mean spiritually?

Answer: “Better death than such a life” means the desire to be in constant connection with the Creator. For a person, the most important thing is connection with the Creator. Any other state feels worse than death.

Close Your Eyes to Everything Except Unity

938.04Question: Something constantly prevents a person and the ten from remaining in prayer. Then you start to search and ask yourself: “Why didn’t you ask?” But is it possible not to search for what’s disturbing me and instead learn to take pleasure and delight in the prayer itself?

Answer: To do that you must ask and turn to the Creator. Only in this way will He respond to you.

Question: How can we find that point and eradicate what keeps us from being in prayer?

Answer: I think your folly is that you do not want to close your eyes to everything except unity and from the point of unity turn to the Creator. He always responds to such a desire.

Gather All Wishes and Requests

939.01Question: Each of us has many different qualities, states, and desires, and it seems impossible to come to a common prayer. Should we focus on what we want to ask the Creator for together, or on Whom we are addressing and before Whom we stand?

Answer: It’s the same thing. You all stand together before the Creator. And if you gather all your wishes, prayers, and requests, He will surely hear them.

You can find your connection with the Creator and your connection with the entire world group, and these will essentially be one and the same connection. It will be one unified Kli in which you discover yourselves, your unity, and your bond with the Creator.
