The Creator Is Waiting for Your Request

936World Kabbalah Convention, Connecting to Lishma, Lesson 4

Question: We can talk endlessly about how much we invested in the congress and how we prepared for it. Now the congress is coming to an end. There is only one more meal left and it is over! That is it. There is no strength to pray. This is one point.

And the other point is that you are obliged to ask for all your friends. Everyone has come and wants to reveal the Creator. And the Creator wants to reveal Himself. It is such a crisis when you have to pray, but you cannot!

What should we do now? What do we ask for?

Answer: What to ask for? I cannot tell you. You need to figure out what your greatest ultimate desire is, the desire with which you want to turn to the Creator. This is what He must fulfill.

You can turn to Him with such a genuine request that He will have not dodge. He expects such a request from you.

Question: And what is a genuine request?

Answer: It is what you truly would like to receive from the Creator.

Through Connection with the Friends

528.01Question: If we feel the evil inclination in ourselves and want to correct it, we can ask the Creator for help because only He has the power to change our nature. But what can we ask of the teachers, of the righteous?

Answer: The same as of the Creator.

Question: What is the difference then?

Answer: You are surrounded by your friends, you feel each other, you can rise and fall relative to each other. But if you relate to your friends only as to those who are above or below you, this is insufficient.

Question: Does this mean that I need to feel connected with my friends and from this connection turn to the righteous and teachers with the same requests as to the Creator?

Answer: No, through your connection with friends you must turn to the Creator, because the group of friends must lift you up and lead you to the Creator.

Chapter 9. The Image of the Creator

What is work and what is a reward? These questions are always perplexing. The purpose of creation is to give contentment to His created beings, and the state of completed work is one of rest, yet everything depends on the perception of the recipients. Work itself can be the reward, and work can also be experienced as rest. The concept of effort is solely determined by our  attitude to work and how we perceive it, whether we feel it as exertion and deficiency or as pleasure. After all, even now we exist in the state of the end of correction (Gmar Tikkun), and these definitions are all we have left to correct, i.e., the way we perceive work and effort, and the way we define suffering and reward.

Baal HaSulam writes in his “Letter No. 55” that all suffering originates from the delay of reward in relation to the time of performing the work. If we were to receive immediate payment for each and every action, we could be likened to a shopkeeper who sells a certain product for ten dollars, knowing that two dollars from each sale would go directly into their pocket. At every moment, with every effort, the shopkeeper immediately pockets two dollars, thereby at once covering the effort so that it no longer feels burdensome but rather like an instant reward.

This is the entire matter. Everything depends on our attitude to work. Therefore, the work concludes in the correction of our vessels, feelings, and our inner definition of what is reward, effort, and payment. This is how, ultimately, the very concept of effort disappears; payment replaces all labor, toil, and suffering, and forms a state of constant goodness and pleasure for us.

This is all due to the fact that we have corrected our vessels, which enables us to now perceive what was bestowed upon us even beforehand, but we now feel it in new vessels, in different discernments, with a new understanding.

How Can We Reveal the Shechina (Divinity)?

939.02Question: In one of your books, you described the phenomenon of the Shechina. Now that we have gathered at the convention, there is a feeling that the Shechina is literally present between us, making this the holiest place. How can we all reveal it together?

Answer: You want to jump from the very first point of our path straight to its final point. That is practically impossible. But you must ask, think, and pray for it.

Question: What can help prayer become a part of me?

Answer: It depends on how much the prayer comes from the heart.

Which to Choose: Life or Death?

198Comment: A Malaysian woman committed suicide after posting a request on Instagram asking her followers to help her decide whether to choose life or death. 69% voted for death.

My Response: Many people would die if it could be done easily. I take a pill, fall asleep, and that is it. So why suffer? If this life does not offer you fulfillment, inspiration, or achievement of a dream, it is unhappy. We end up dying anyway.

Society and the state are doing the right thing by not allowing this to develop. As the Torah says: “Choose Life.” But you have to choose that. We must try, strive, and seek this.

Kabbalah offers this, but to do so, one must come to it and find an eternal, perfect life.

Question: What is the goal of the upper governance in bringing a person to such a state?

Answer: So man can be convinced that life has a meaning. Just not the one he lives by. He lives an animal life, but he needs to rise to another level.

Question: Are you in favor of attracting people with pleasure, or pushing them with suffering?

Answer: Attracting with pleasure.

Question: In other words, to show this world is worth living?

Answer: The upper world. Sure.

Comment: World above egoism, as you keep saying.

My Response: Yes, absolutely. That is precisely what it is for.

543.02Question: What should be done to thank the Creator?

Answer: If you feel gratitude toward the Creator for what He is doing for you now, all you can do is bow before Him and surrender to Him, so that He continues working on you further.

Question: To rise, do you need to feel your own pain or the pain of others?

Answer: Your own.

Question: How should we turn to the Creator in states of descent and hopelessness?

Answer: In such states, you must stop all your internal sensations and raise them to the Creator. This will be the most correct and reliable action.

Question: Is joy and gratitude toward the Creator also correction?

Answer: Not “also,” this is the correction.

Question: How can we—those who haven’t yet reached spiritual understanding—raise the importance of this work in the ten? Since when we go home now, part of us simply feels spiritually dead.

Answer: You are still and will be for some time under the direct guidance of the Creator. So keep this in mind. Everything that happens to you is a result of external influence. Try to write down the most vivid phrases, appeals to the Creator, and make them key for yourself. After that, we will go together.

How Can We Hear the Creator’s Answer?

232.1Question: It is said one should thank the Creator for the past and for what will happen to him in the future. How can we help each other hear His answer correctly and thank Him?

Answer: How do we understand the Creator’s answer correctly? I would advise you to consider that you have received the answer, even though you do not understand it. Consider that the Creator clears all paths and ways to Him before you.

You can come and address Him, draw closer to Him, and demand from Him. But in fact this will happen when you accumulate your efforts and your requests and raise all this to the Creator. Then He will answer you.

After the Congress: Steps in the Spiritual World

253Comment: Usually after a congress we say that there is no need to cling to what we have experienced. But for some reason this time there is a strong desire to hold on to the feeling of unity.

My Response: You are beginning to feel the common Kli and receive Ohr Makif (surrounding light) from it. It starts to lift you up, protect you, and hold you within itself. That is why, as we start from this Congress and move forward, it is very important to begin to take some steps on your own in the spiritual world, in spiritual connection.

You have tens, and you have a connection among them. In each country there are 10, or 20, or even 30 tens. I am ready to visit you, and ready to give online lessons from here. So it all depends on you, on how you organize yourself.
