The Problems Of A Small Group

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: It is so easy to unite at the conventions and it is so difficult in life. Why is it so much more difficult to unite a small group than a big group?

Answer: A big group holds itself, but in a small group there are too many opposite thoughts and desires that are sharply manifested.

Several people are always in some contradiction with each other: pride, jealousy, envy, etc. Indeed, all this is manifested naturally so that we can grow. But it is really very difficult for a small number of people.

Therefore, it is desirable that a group include at least ten people. It is good when it has many women; they stabilize a group, calm it down, soften it.

The most important thing is that men and women are equal in the group. You cannot push women to the back. If they are equal to you, then they can help maintain the group’s vitality on a good level.

  1. Dear Rav,

The small group I was once a part of seems to have torn apart by forces of dinim so strong there was nothing any of us could do about it. I blame myself for this but can’t locate the exact place of my failures. Now I participate virtually with the Brooklyn group in organizing IE lectures but the shattered relationship with the local students in my area seems to remain unrepairable. I know through my efforts over the years with them that I am the weakest link and have no idea how to draw the light upon this shattered situation, whether this is exactly what the general correction depends on, or what to do to correct my portion of evil with the local situation the way it is. Can you offer advice on how to do genuine work with this situation and not perhaps kid myself regarding what’s expected of me? In the meantime, no one is connecting with anyone else locally to disseminate and if they’re are in anyway like me, shame, fear, and weakness seem insurmountable barriers denying us the unity we must reach to carry out His will in actual fact.

    Love you,

    Montie
