How Can I Balance Spiritual and Corporeal Life?

627.2Question: I am growing and developing as a person on the animal level, and my animal desires are constantly growing. But if I engage in spirituality, my spiritual desires also constantly grow. In the end, I can’t focus on anything, and I keep getting pulled from one thing to another. How can I balance spiritual and material life?

Answer: This is not balanced by us. A person should take care of their animal life reasonably, and dedicate all the rest of the time and effort to spiritual attainment, which means striving for connection with others in the ten to become more like the Creator.

I can’t tell a woman that she must get married and have children, that is her personal decision. As for men, they are, in principle, more obligated to be married than women. We strongly encourage men to marry because they become more stable, diligent, and consistent. But a woman is stable on her own, so there aren’t such strict requirements for her.

Ultimately, whether or not a woman marries is her choice. But the goal is to devote as much time as possible to spirituality, and to material things, let me quote the original source, only the necessary amount.

And add a bit more joy to your life; this is very necessary. If you don’t feel joy in life, it means you are blaming the Creator for your discomfort.

Malchut Defines Everything

961.2Question: What is the role of a woman in Kabbalah?

Answer: It is the same as the role of a man. Nothing changes.

In our world where we exist in physical bodies with material desires and family responsibilities, we are very different from each other.

But in the spiritual world, the work of men and women is the same. Kabbalah says a lot about the role of a woman and how she rules the world. Our world is also secretly ruled by women.

Malchut is the female part of the Kli, the soul. It determines everything. In our world, we always see men as producing something, doing something, but in fact there are women behind them who silently, even without words control them.

That is why women’s groups are very important to us. We would really like them to develop even more. The main role of a woman in Kabbalah is to push a man to fulfill his spiritual mission. As a mother pushes a child: “Do it,” trains him, stands behind him, so women need to manage men.

Thanks to Righteous Women

583.02Question: I am very impressed by the women’s questions. That has never happened before. In the past, all conventions were overwhelmingly dominated by men’s questions, but today it is the opposite. What is going on? Is there some general shift happening?

Answer: I am very glad that such changes are occurring. It is written that Israel was delivered from Egypt thanks to the righteous women.

That is exactly what is happening. We see that at this convention, women are outpacing men. They are quicker and clear-headed, which I am very pleased about. So we should push them forward. We will follow their lead.

Why Is There a Masculine and Feminine Element in Everyone?

506.1Everything is mingled with each other and when the souls come out, male and female are mingled in them as one (The Book of Zohar, “Like an Apple Tree between Forest Trees“).

Question: Why is both masculine and feminine included in each of us?

Answer: It comes from nature. Our body is designed in such a way that it cannot have only one property; it has both male and female hormones, all kinds of properties. Even in the human psyche there is a masculine side and a feminine side.

Question: What is the function of the second half, which does not seem to apply to me, I am a man. Why do I need female hormones?

Answer: Without it, you would not understand a woman. Such one-sidedness would manifest itself in many things, and you would not be able to develop because the female component also takes part in your development. Conversely, there are some masculine qualities in a woman.

Question: Does it happen that masculine qualities prevail in a woman?

Answer: Yes, it can be detected even by appearance and not only by matching properties.

The Spiritual Work of Women

600.02Question: Is there any hierarchy in women’s advancement? Is it built in a special way?

Answer: There is no hierarchy at all. Women are not like men who have to constantly rise up and forward.

Question: It turns out that a woman is focused on herself: home, clothes, etc. Is that why you often say that women’s work is to put some kind of pressure on men?

Answer: Yes, not only to put pressure on her husband, but also to raise children, especially boys, to encourage them to study, and so on.

This, in fact, is her spiritual work despite her down-to-earth nature.

The Main Function of a Woman

292Question: We talk a lot about the need for connection. With men everything is clear, there is a lot written about it in the Torah. But what about the connection of women? Because the Torah says nothing about it.

Answer: A woman, in general, does not connect with anyone. Of course, she can have friends both in childhood and when she grows up. But for her, there is a period when she gets married, gives birth, and takes care of her children and family. This is her whole life. So there cannot be much else here.

Question: It turns out that her main function is still the home.

Answer: Yes.

Question: I can say from my own experience that this fills me very much. I feel like a queen in the house. This is mine!

But what is the function of a man? To give a woman this feeling? Not to interfere or to help?

Answer: It is to give a feeling, not to interfere, to help. That is true.

Women’s Advancement

604.03Question: Many women have been studying with you for many years because they have a desire for spirituality. What qualities should they choose so as not to remain stagnant, not to cool off, not to pass through all this, but to truly progress toward the Creator? What should they focus on?

Answer: If a woman wants, then we have courses for both men and women, general classes, and so on. In principle, it is the same information, the same curriculum as for men.

When this course ends and it can last from three or four to ten or fifteen years. Depending on how you study, the person continues studying according to a different plan.

Question: And yet, what will help a woman the most in her spiritual progress? A man, or her personal effort in something specific?

Answer: Generally, a woman does not strive for spirituality in the same way as a man. She is much more involved with herself and her family: children, clothing, comfort, and so on. All of this is very important to her. For a man, if he truly desires spirituality, it becomes everything for him. Everything else makes up only about five percent of his concerns. For women, it is the opposite.

Therefore, her progress depends on the man, on her husband. We see this in life although there have been only a few examples in history—like the wife of Rabbi Akiva or the daughter of Rashi. Generally, a woman cannot progress in the same way as a man. Such women have been very rare.

Question: Did these women have a special soul?

Answer: Yes, but it was still a female soul.

Rise Above Corporeal Concepts

508.1Question: Is it possible for men and women to work together in a good, positive manner?

Answer: It is possible when we do not pay attention to whether it is a man or a woman. Before us stands an average type, neither male nor female. I understand that the other individual also has a desire for the Creator the same as mine and in the same direction. Then I can contact him.

But this too is only in a very limited form when we can clearly rise above our corporeal definitions. In principle, men act separately, and women act separately, but their intentions can be combined.

Female and Male Connection

557Question: I understand that women cannot directly connect with each other but men can. How will we feel our connection? Will it be through men and not directly with each other?

Answer: You will feel both your connection and connection with the men to the extent that you can draw closer with each other.

There is no difference between male connection and a female one. The women’s connection is even somewhat simpler. When women begin to think about the higher goal, their earthly egoism, in general, does not bother them so much.

Men and Women: Working Together

571.01Question: It is very important for us to unite and create a women’s Kli. You said that our common goal is to clothe the female desire with the male intention. How can we achieve this? What should women do?

Should we not think about ourselves but only about the men? What do you advise us?

Answer: I feel your pain, as if you are powerless without men. But this is not true.

You must understand that if you gather among yourselves and try to rise above your feminine egoistic rejections, you will have a wonderful opportunity to create such a Kli that will not even need the male one.

Of course, later we will find that there is mutual complementing between male and female parts. But at the initial stage, there is absolutely no need to mix female and male attempts to connect. Each in their own circle. If you seriously connect with each other, you will not need men.

The Creator gives screens and intentions to both men and women. History knows great women prophets, Kabbalists, who were greater than men. So you have nothing to worry about.

Later, we will combine our male and female-specific qualities. But this is not the kind of work where we are together nearby, seeing and hearing each other. We will feel this as a desire in the air—here is the female part, here is the male part. We will even feel the female and male parts within the female part and the male and female parts within the male part. This is how we will interact.

That is, we need to develop and reveal who we are. Then we will see that we can work together.

But there is still a very long way until the very end. There are many months ahead until each can understand what a female and male ten is and how we can connect with each other in not a physical, but a spiritual contact.
