Not To Run, But To Conquer!

747.01Remark: Pharaoh was chasing after the people when they were leaving Egypt, but when entering the land of Israel no one chases you.

My Comment: When approaching the land of Israel you, yourself, consciously go forward. It is not good to put pressure on you all the time from behind.

The reason for leaving Egypt was to flee from suffering, from the ten Egyptian plagues. And now it is not. Now we are urging people, with our own awareness of the need to cleanse ourselves from egoistic intentions, to cleanse our desires in order to reveal the Creator in them and thereby give Him pleasure.

Question: What is the difference between the fact that the Red Sea parted and the waters of the Jordan parted? What is the difference between these two states inside a person?

Answer: The waters of the Red Sea part when the border between the power of Pharaoh and the power of the Creator is removed. In principle, this is one and the same power, only it manifests itself in different ways.

Question: Can we say that there is a spiritual birth?

Answer: In principle, spiritual birth does not happen overnight. This is a long-term process, just like in our world.

Remark: But when leaving Egypt, one still had to go by faith above reason. Without this, it is impossible to cross the sea. And the people still enter it!

My Comment: It is the same here. In all these, so to speak, journeys, miracles, they rise above their egoism all the time. Only sometimes this happens with the help of war, a dash, a jump into the sea, crossing over the Jordan, and so on. But still it goes through overcoming.

Remark: Nachshon was in Egypt. There were no priests to enter the water and the sea parted.

My Comment: But the property of Bina is not there yet! And in the land of Israel this property of bestowal and connection dominates. Therefore, they have to feel and behave in a different way. And the tasks facing them are completely different: not to run, but to conquer.

Transformation Of Intentions

749.02Prophets, Joshua, Part 3, 14-17: And it was, when the people moved from their tents, to cross the Jordan, and the priests bearing the Ark of the covenant were before the people.

And when the bearers of the Ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bore the Ark were dipped in the edge of the water, and the Jordan overflows all its banks all the time of harvest.

And the waters which came down from above stood and rose up in one column, very far from Adam, the city which is beside Zarethan; and those that descended to the sea of the plain, the Salt Sea (Dead Sea), were completely cut off, and the people passed over opposite Jericho.

And the priests that bore the Ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm arranged on the dry land in the midst of the Jordan, and all Israel passed over on dry ground, until the whole nation had completely passed over the Jordan.

The River Jordan is a very serious boundary between desires that are not directed toward the Creator, they are outside the land of Israel, and desires that are directed at the Creator.

Therefore, if you are still outside of Israel, outside of the desires for the Creator, you have completely different states. You can allow yourself, as they say, to take a walk in selfish desires, although this is still a borderline land.

But entering the land of Israel suggests that you are completely transformed, have changed your intentions into bestowal, connection, and love. This is the only way you can be inside the newly acquired properties, travel in this land, i.e., change your internal properties.

There is no reference to any geography here. All movements occur only within the desires, the best, the biggest, etc. You are fighting with your egoistic properties, which suddenly manifest themselves in you as intentions. This is already a much more serious, more internal struggle.

Question: It is written: “the feet of the priests that bore the Ark were dipped in the edge of the water, and the Jordan…” What does it say here?

Answer: These are completely different properties, a completely different relationship between a person’s desire and nature, which the Creator created specifically to correct a person, to raise him to His level.

The land of Israel is already the place, the desires, in which the Creator is located. And it is necessary that a person clearly feels where the boundary is between the Creator’s desires and other desires that are distant from Him.

Question: Is the “priest” in a person something very pure?

Answer: Yes, it is the very first sacred quality with which he wants to get closer to the Creator. After all, this is just a journey to come to adhesion with the Creator.

If with this intention you enter the new desires that have never been manifested before, that is, you are heading for a new, completely different degree, then you are moving forward.

At The Entrance To The Land Of Israel: Use Desires For Bestowal

740.01Prophets, Joshua, Chapter 2:1: And Joshua the son of Nun sent two men out of Shittim to spy secretly, saying, Go see the land and Jericho.

Joshua sends spies to the land of Israel for two reasons: the first, in order to know in advance where they are going and the second, to be afraid of the place where they are going because huge new desires are revealed there.

If you can overpower them, then you can conquer the land of Israel, that is, choose those desires that the egoism holds in itself with horrendous force, snatch them from it, and use them for bestowal.

Question: If earlier this verification was not successful because the spies came and said: “We are unable to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we,” is it possible now?

Answer: Yes. However, this is not just another check, but a correction. Therefore, this is not just some action, some game just in case. This is a very serious job.

Frankly speaking, if I imagine the state of being at the entrance to the land of Israel, then I get scared because these are such huge internal egoistic obstacles that shake a person and he must overcome them. But how? Where to get strength from? Unbelievable!

Question: What is the city of Jericho within us?

Answer: It is a terrible city. To this day, it is very problematic. There was even a prophecy that it should not be restored. As you drive up to it, you see what an alien and ancient this place is.

That is, it is a place that is practically impossible to correct. It really is on the border between impurity (Klipa) and holiness (Kedusha). Therefore, Jericho must fall first.

How To Interpret Numbers In The Torah?

571.04Question: Abraham was the first person who raised Malchut to Bina in 40 years. It is written in the Torah that he attained the Creator at the age of 40. What does the number 40 mean?

Answer: Everyone has an inherent egoistic will to receive. It can be corrected only by raising it to the level of Bina, which has the numerical value 40. This means that we can rise to the level of Bina in 40 years, in 40 degrees.

In fact, this is purely conditional; we can count and perceive this level in different ways. Yet, in the Torah, the number 40 is very common.

Question: The number three is also mentioned in the Torah. For example, it is written that Abraham started to think about the meaning of life at the age of three. What does it mean? Clearly, this is not simply age.

Answer: Of course it is not a physical age. But we can say that it is a spiritual age when an opportunity to receive and bestow is revealed in a person and from these two opposite states he can build the middle line. Three is the formation of the middle line.

For The Miracle To Happen

933Prophets, The Book of Joshua, Chapter 3:7: And the Lord said to Joshua: This day I will begin to make you great in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that as I was with Moses, so will I be with you.

This proof is necessary both for the Israelites as well as for the rest of humanity, that is, for those who walk the path of Joshua and those who are outside this camp who don’t accept the properties of bestowal and love as the most important thing, as connection between people above all egoistic motives. Those who do not perceive this should bow down, understand, accept, and begin to implement it.

This must penetrate a person from above. In no way can it simply be accepted: “I want this, so I start and do it!” This is an internal restructuring of the entire human system, which can take many, many years.

Question: Does the Creator want to show that He will stand by Joshua Ben Nun as He did with Moss so that the miracle will happen and everyone will see?

Answer: It should be such that, on one hand, everyone will understand that it is a miracle, that the Creator does it. And on the other hand, so that people can see it, realize it, accept it, and implement it because they are ready for it.

This happens at the boundary between the probable and the improbable.

Question: But when we ask for the manifestation of the Creator, the manifestation of a miracle, can we see that the Creator is with us?

Answer: Please. But for this, you must be ready to see it all. In other words, we must reach such a state that this can be revealed.

Question: Will others see that the Creator is with us?

Answer: If they have the appropriate qualities, they will see it, and if they don’t, they will not. It all happens according to the law of equivalence of form.

Translation Of The Torah—A Source Of Distortion

559Question: What is your opinion about the translation of the Torah into Greek?

Answer: The Torah cannot be translated into any language at all because its translation always becomes a source of all kinds of distortions.

Hebrew in its inner meaning cannot be adequately translated into another language because it implies completely different, spiritual concepts that do not exist in other languages because they do not have a spiritual root.

Question: But we are talking about the 3rd century BC. At that time, there were sages who understood this. Why did they still allow the translation of the Torah?

Answer: What do you mean “allowed”? They themselves were no longer at a high spiritual level so they could not stop anything. The masses turned away from them because there was a huge revelation of egoism, and that was the end of it.

The spreading of Kabbalah to the masses, which spanned from the 10th century BC to the 1st century AD, has ended. Then came all sorts of religious interpretations. This is where Judaism in its modern form appeared.

Comment: In Judea, the Greek language practically replaced Hebrew and Aramaic. Even the leaders of the Jewish people wrote in Greek.

My Response: Of course. If you follow someone, if you think someone is more progressive, then that’s it.

Comment: The famous historian Josephus Flavius wrote that the Greek king Ptolemy II wanted to establish his kingdom upon the law of the Torah: “Love your neighbor as yourself” and was ready to pay any price for it. But when he saw that Jews started to fight among themselves, Greece turned against them.

My Response: Yes, the Jews themselves showed an example that this is impossible to do. It became clear that laws of bestowal and love cannot be spread among people in a direct way.

Explore The “Land” Of Your Desires

740.03The Prophets, Joshua, Chapter 2:23-2:24: And the two men returned and descended from the mountain, and crossed over and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all that had happened to them. And they said to Joshua,—For the Lord has delivered into our hands all the land; and also the inhabitants of the country have melted away because of us.

In principle, it is already known in advance that the city will be taken, i.e., all the desires that are outside the city wall will eventually submit to the property of bestowal.

Question: Why was it necessary to send spies there to get evidence? After all, everything was clear already.

Answer: No. A person should move forward knowing where he is going and why he is doing it.

People should feel all their properties, which of them they can advance with, how much they should change their egoism, deal with each other, rise above the ego, connect together. Only in this way do they gain a new space, a new desire.

When they unite with each other, they must spread into more and more new desires until the property of bestowal and love will cover the entire globe.

In Contradiction With The Laws Of The Land Of Israel

747.01Question: The five books of the Torah tell the story before entering the land of Israel, does this mean they only talk about rising above egoism and not about working on it itself? Is it about the law “Do not do unto others what you would not like others to do unto yourself”?

Answer: Yes. There was no question of love here because it can only be in the Land of Israel—”Eretz Yisrael.” “Eretz” is desire (Ratzon), “Yisra El“—directly to the Creator.

Therefore, the law “Do not do unto others what you would not like others to do unto you” was passed by the people together with Moses before entering Israel.

There are a lot of laws that we need to accept in order to be in the correct interaction with each other. And there are laws that you need to start following when you enter the land of Israel. But now we are not even in non-fulfillment, but in complete contradiction with the laws of the land of Israel.

Question: Why is the spring compressed so that we do not even follow the elementary laws?

Answer: In order for us to realize that we are in the state opposite to what we want.

Why Do We Need The Torah?

275Question: At what point do we begin to pass the spiritual instruction, the Torah, through ourselves ?

Answer: The Torah is the system of correct interaction of all parts of creation (inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human) and brings them to a certain mutual connection. That is, the Torah is the implementation of the correction of the system of interaction between broken parts of creation, broken desires, broken souls.

Question: Do I begin to study the Torah the moment the desire to get out of the broken state to the state of unity awakens in me?

Answer: Yes, and before that there is absolutely no need for it. For many thousands of years mankind has existed in such a state where the Torah was completely unnecessary and to this day many do not need it.

The period from receiving the Torah to entering the land of Israel is a period of unconscious correction, like a child who first crawls on all fours and then learns to walk, all mankind learned to eat, drink, build, and develop.

The egoistic desire that exists in an individual naturally, automatically moves him, and he does not need any Torah, a system of artificial knowledge and actions, since he will receive either reward or punishment directly from nature in response to his actions. They will teach him in such a simple and concise way.

But when we come to the state that we must consciously come into contact with the laws of nature, then we need to know them in order to fulfill them consciously. We begin to feel that if we do them selfishly, as before, then we will suffer greatly from this.

In our time, humanity is revealing its depravity, which can lead us to such suffering where we just eat each other. That is why the Torah is revealed.

When Does The Need For Torah Arise?

746.03Question: After leaving Egypt, the people approached Mount Sinai to receive the Torah, spiritual instruction. Why did they not need it up to this point?

Answer: Because a person develops like a small child. He does not need instructions for the first years of his life. Later we begin to teach him. He paints pictures, everything is shown and explained to him, and he is taught in school. That is, he must gradually be included in society in the correct form.

Comment: But a demand arose among the people: “Give us such a system so we will stop hating each other!”

My Response: We are talking about a ripe nation that has gone through a great deal of suffering and realized that if they are not connected with each other, then the force that influences them will affect them negatively.

After all, a nation that is not united is forcibly dividing this force and it manifests itself in contradiction in each one toward the others. Naturally, everyone will suffer. So, they demanded instruction.

After receiving it, they began to move on and wandered in the desert for forty years until that generation died that knew what it was like to be enslaved, meaning, to be in one’s egoistic desires that you indulge and that seem necessary, and good—work for your egoism and you will be fine.

That generation had to die, i.e., completely abandon the use of egoism for one’s own sake. Now as we approach the last generation this should work in us. We must realize that we have no other path than to rise above egoism in positive union with one another.
