Torah And The Wisdom Of Kabbalah

Laitman_137Question: Why do you believe that every person who studies the Torah must also study the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: This is imperative because without learning the wisdom of Kabbalah, it is not possible to reach Lishma (for Her Name), which is what is necessary for everyone who studies Torah. The problem is the manner in which the concept of “Lishma” is interpreted.

It is customary to think that Lishma is already happening simply by studying the Torah. I have even heard that a number of Yeshiva students have reached Torah Lishma at the age of 20. So we must first clarify the precise definition of the concept of “Torah Lishma.” Regarding this, see The Introduction to the Study of the Ten Sefirot.

Laitman_632_4Question: How is it possible to learn to be and to remain in the present moment? How can one be freed from the pain and memories of the past and fear of the future?

Answer: You feel this way because you have not yet received the Upper Light through the group, so you don’t have a connection with the Creator. As soon as a small point of connection with the Creator appears in you, all doubts will immediately disappear and you will not have any questions about yourself. If you are connected to the upper force that determines everything and completely dominates you, you will just have to feel His closeness to you, and then you will immediately be freed from your egoism. First and foremost, this is the state that we must attain.

Question: Is our knowledge a mental illusion?

Answer: It depends on what you mean by the word “knowledge.” When we investigate the world and exist in the world based upon our research data, this is knowledge and not illusion. The wisdom of Kabbalah accepts this with a blessing.

Question: What happens when a person feels déjà-vu?

Answer: There are many different events that happened in the past, are happening in the present, and will happen in the future that are truly possible to predict. Everything that happened to a person in the past has its own Reshimo (informational gene). Therefore, there are phenomena like déjà-vu.

Question: Is self-pity also egoism?

Answer: Self-pity is the height of egoism.

Question: What will you do when millions will come to study the wisdom of Kabbalah and there will be hundreds of thousands of questions?

Answer: In this case, I will sit facing the camera as I am doing now and will broadcast to the whole world. Instead of ten thousand students, there will be a million or a hundred million. Don’t worry, I’m not afraid.

Question: Why is the group so important during this period?

Answer: The group is important because we have entered a stage in which it is possible to draw the Upper Light upon ourselves, but it is drawn only through a group of Ten, a group of ten people, who are connected and yearn for unity. In such a case, the Upper Light shines through the group of Ten on each one of its participants, and through them to the entire world.

Question: The upper world can only be reached by someone who lives forever. Will there not be depression if we know that it is possible to live forever?

Answer: What is the connection to eternal life? What is the dimension of time? According to a heartbeat? There is no such thing. The physical body lives 70-100 years, but life is eternal, just a transition from one state to another state. So there is nothing to worry about. There is no choice but to exist forever.

How Ohr Makif Works

laitman_209Question: What exactly should I want during the lesson so that the Light will operate and influence me? Is it necessary to feel the Creator, to want to feel the desires of the friends, or to want something else? If a person hears a lesson, does the Light operate and influence him in any case, even without the right intention?

Answer: The Ohr Makif (Surrounding Light) operates and has an influence on everyone who listens to a lesson, even more for someone who wants to reveal the Creator, and even more for someone who wants to attain the characteristic of bestowal.

Question: Does the action of the Ohr Makif gradually bring a person to the recognition of evil, and does the recognition of evil bring a person to the right desire for correction, thanks to which the Creator changes the person so that he resembles Him, and then the person begins to feel Him? Is this the sequence of events?

Answer: Yes.

Laitman_506_6Question: As a mother, I feel that my great love for my children is mixed with anxiety, and it seems that the Creator mocks my ego through my children.

Answer: The Creator doesn’t abuse anyone. It is actually people who abuse themselves by not performing the actions of corrections that they can perform and, thus, invoke suffering in vain.

Kabbalah’s Attitude Toward Religions

laitman_283_01Question: I’ve been a student of Rav for about eight years; I respect him, am grateful for his teachings and seek to implement the teachings and his advice the best that I can, the same as Rav’s other students.

Raised as a Muslim, lately, I too have had a lot of concern about the talk about the Muslim faith, the questions asked, and Rav’s answers to them regarding the danger of Islam and the Muslims. I don’t believe Rav is anti-Islam or anti any faith. I do trust Rav, but can’t stop feeling pain whenever the subject comes up and the discussion around it.

I’m not sure that Rav’s response is always perceived correctly by most of his students and audience; some of Rav’s devoted students come across as anti-Muslim, I must say.

I am not a practicing Muslim, but know a lot of Muslims, including my own family, who are good people, practicing their faith the best way they can without feeling hatred and malice toward others.

Rav’s students raised as Muslims take a lot of risks following Kabbalah teachings, I’m sure Rav is aware of this. I don’t know what the solution is, but surely giving the unintended impression that one religion is more harmful than others cannot be very helpful.

Wishing Rav good health and success, always.

Answer: Kabbalah is not against religions, they all emerged from it. Baal HaSulam writes that even at the end of correction of human nature, there is a place for all religions.

I’m just against the distortion of religions we see today: Judaism has turned solely into the method of performing mechanical actions, Christianity engages in purely external decorations, and Islam demonstrates its hatred to everyone and in everything.

Indeed, the source of all religions, Kabbalah (see Baal HaSulam’s article “The Essence of Religion and Its Purpose”), calls all the nations of the world only for unification and love above our egoism.

The practice of today’s Islam is active hatred and killings. At the same time, they have expelled the Kabbalists of Islam, Sufis, from their environment. I meet with them only in their exile from the Arab countries. So I cannot hate the true Islam, but only those who distort it today and turn it into the practice of hatred toward all people of other faiths, even within Islam itself.

What Should We Do With Adversity?

laitman_561Question: What should I do if while studying the wisdom of Kabbalah I am going through a hard time with problems coming up from every direction?

Answer: Because everything is sent to you from Above, from the Creator, from the system we are not fully part of, the problems are actually the way we are reminded that we don’t respect the unity in the group enough and the drawing of the Surrounding Light, the Light of the correction of our egoism.

We must reach the feeling that the Creator’s greatness covers the distresses that are sent to us and we shouldn’t even think about fighting the distresses that are sent to us in any way other than asking for a greater feeling of the Creator’s greatness. At the same time, we have to systematically act against the problems that come up, just like everyone does in this world.

laitman_281_02Question: I am 75 years old, isn’t it too late to begin studying the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: Don’t consider age, enter into the method with your entire soul and you will see how quickly you will be able to do this. If a person is brought to the wisdom of Kabbalah and he makes an effort, he will necessarily attain what he must attain in this incarnation.

Question: What book should one start with in studying the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: Take our Bnei Baruch Kabbalah Education Center courses; there you will learn about what book you should begin your studies with.

Question: Is it possible to “play” too much when we play during the study of the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: No, it is impossible to play too much because your ego will bring you lower and lower every time.

Question: How is it possible for me to develop an immense desire within me to study the practical wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: This is only through the environment. This is mentioned in articles by Kabbalists. When you are in a group, you need to become inspired by the desires of the friends. We need to infect each other with a desire for spirituality.

Question: What can be done about the fear of death?

Answer: You are not the one who will die, rather it is your “animal”—the physical body. You are immortal.

Question: Is it possible to discover spirituality without knowing the theory of the wisdom of Kabbalah at all, and then attain the wisdom of Kabbalah through sensations?

Answer: It is possible. We attain the wisdom of Kabbalah through sensations. In other words, we attain the theory specifically through the practice.

Question: Was Rabash writing about a physical group or a spiritual group?

Answer: He was writing about a physical group. He gave me articles that I copied and distributed to all the rest of the students. It all started when I had to convey the first lesson to the students that I had brought to Rabash. I asked him what I should tell them. He sat on a bench in a park, took a sheet of paper from me, and wrote his first article.

Question: What does it mean to study the wisdom of Kabbalah? Is this a living wisdom, a scientific experiment, knowledge, or a sensory attainment?

Answer: It is a sensory attainment.

Question: How does one work with the Sefirot practically?

Answer: When you see that the Sefirot are the connection between you and others through which the Creator is revealed and this is how you bestow to Him, and through the Sefirot, He bestows to you, meaning the connection between friends, then you will know what the Sefirot are and how to work with them.

Questions from my Facebook page

Question: What is the meaning of dreams in our world?

Answer: Dreams are the outcome of our thoughts and our daily experiences and feelings.

Question: I met a person who has been studying Kabbalah for 15 years. He doesn’t like animals. I love them and try to help homeless animals. Is it a Kabbalist’s privilege to hate animals?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah tells us to establish a connection between all of mankind into one system.

In the process of creating such a connection, we will discover that we are in a single system with the animate, vegetative, and even the inanimate levels of nature. But the main thing is the connection between people in order to achieve the revelation of the Creator in this connection here and now.

Lyrics, Not The Truth

laitman_600_04Question: Is a classical symphony orchestra performing the brilliant works of Bach or Mozart an example of a group that summons the Upper Light and connects to the Creator and His infinite perfection?

Answer: You probably don’t know the musicians very well, especially ones in a symphony orchestra. Competition, hatred, and manipulations flourish between them.

They are harmonious with each other only as musicians; the internal harmony of the hearts, the contact between the hearts, can be created only by the help of the Upper Light. So leave that to the lyrics, not to the truth.

Answers To Your Questions, Part 145

laitman_959Question: If the wisdom of Kabbalah is an exact science, what does it say about planet Earth? Is it actually a planet? Six months ago, I came across a theory that the Earth is flat. At first it seemed like total nonsense, but then I somehow began to understand its essence and wanted to know what the wisdom of Kabbalah says about it.

Answer: Kabbalah explains things scientifically and always has believed, just like today’s modern science, even in ancient times, as it says in The Book of Zohar, the Earth is round.

Question: May I ask why I understand a lot, but cannot remember? No matter how hard I try, I do not succeed. It is as if someone erases my memory.

Answer: This is wonderful because we don’t need to know; we need to discover a new attribute inside us in which we will begin to feel the upper world in the same way we feel our world.
